Psalm 40

1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

  1. 2. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

    3. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

What a witness – when those that knew you were in the miry clay of a horrible pit see you singing and praising God and realize that if He changed you, He could change them.

“He brought me out of the miry clay,
    He set my feet on the Rock to stay;
He puts a song in my soul today,
    A song of praise, hallelujah!”

  2. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Love to sing praises to my Lord and Savior. He loved me when I wasn’t worth it. He rescue me when I was lost. He is the lifter of my head. Glory and Honor and Blessings is His Name JESUS!!!!

  3. Protect your testimony

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

    1 Peter 1:
    13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
    15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Our lives and the way we carry ourselves are a testimony of who Jesus is. If we are the light of the world then everyone is watching us. You never know who is listening at the table next to you. You never know who is watching you.

    Psalm 34:
1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise [shall] continually [be] in my mouth.

  4. 2. HE BROUGHT ME UP ALSO OUT OF AN HORRIBLE PIT, OUT OF THE MIRY CLAY, AND SET MY FEET UPON A ROCK, AND ESTABLISHED MY GOING.

  5. Verses 1-3 NIV “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Waiting is something we don’t naturally like to do; but, oh what a reward when we learn to do it patiently. This reminds me of that song again that says “Lord let them see you in me, “Lord let them hear you when I speak” and “Lord let them feel you when I sing”.

  6. Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.

  7. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

When we trust in God and allow his to be what he wats to be in our life, we will be blessed. We will see many of his wonderful works and be able to speak of them.
Our greatest delight would be to do the will of God! What is the will of God? This is one of the greatest quetions that could be asked and has been by many people for many years. As we seek God to find his will for all things in our life. We must continually seek God everyday to find his will for us in our everyday walk with him.
If we will put the law of God in our hearts and begin to seek after him his will, will be much easier for us to find.
    God bless POFW everyday!

  8. iLove to eat the Word

Psalms 40:8 KJV I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

It’s a lot about attitude when it comes to doing the will of God. Do we delight to do his will or do we get upset?

We see in these scriptures that its more than just giving an offering, “Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required” but it is the attitude in which it is given.

    2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

  9. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Trust in The Lord. He will never leave you or forsake you. When we put our full trust in Him, he can guide us the way that he needs to. So many times in this life we are hurt and do not trust. So when we put our full trust in God, great things will happen.

  10. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
So thankful that God loved me enough to bring me out of sin and into the light. Where would we/I be if the Lord hadn’t found us.

  11. Be Merciful and Raise Me Up
Psalm 41:10,11 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.
By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

  12. Yes LORD,
1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
everybody can wait, but it’s the way that we wait……… It’s the attitude, how is my attitude today O’ LORD?
I LOVE YOU AND I PRAISE YOU JESUS

  13. THE PROMISE TO A SEEKER

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

We must be prayerful that we do not become the generation that would look for the LORD but never SEEK the LORD.

Look – to direct your eyes in a particular direction
Seek – to search for (someone or something)

The PROMISE is to the seeker not the casual looker.

    The prophet says in:
Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

    JESUS says in:
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

    THE PROMISE OF A SEEKER

    1. You will find GOD!
    2. You will REJOICE!
    3. You will BE GLAD!
    4. You will BE BLESSED!
    5. You will be DIRECTED!

    iSeek
    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  14. 5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. KJV

5 The world’s a huge stockpile of God-wonders and God-thoughts. Nothing and no one comes close to you! I start talking about you, telling what I know, and quickly run out of words. Neither numbers nor words account for you. MSG

What a wonderful world the Lord has made for us to live in. The mystery and wonder of the big and small alike. From the sun to the “rollie pollie”. Each and everything between has a purpose and reason for being. Then the masterful creation of humans. Thank you Jesus for each and every wonder. Continue to remind me, don’t allow these wonders to become blended into the background.

  15. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.

**I was in a ditch hurt, and worn out i couldnt do it On my own anymore. He picked me up and put me on his back like a wounded solider. He patched me up. Turned me around and trained me with elite training. And now I’m in the Army of The Lord. I do only what he says and what his will is for me. Now I can defeat the enemy with out any trouble. Thank you Jesus for picking me up and making me whole healing my heart allowing me to forgive and let go.

I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” (Psalms 40:2, 8 NKJV)

**I’m am happy to do your work. It is my desire to have your word in my heart and to learn everyday.

  16. Shortcut To Salvation

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Ever been in a real mess and suddenly found yourself contemplating solutions you never thought you would? Until you’ve been desperate for a fix, you will have a hard time relating to those who went out on a limb to take desperate measures. In the midst of particularly difficult storms, we shouldn’t be surprised to find ourselves having to turn away suggestions or opportunities for “solutions” that would call for us to remove our trust in God, though they may look tempting as an easy “shortcut to salvation” at the time. But God has a song of praise and testimony He wants to give us for every storm, and we won’t get there if we turn from trusting Him in the midst of the mess. Not all the glitters is gold and not everything that looks like the way of salvation is, but if we trust in the Lord and follow His ways through the mess, not only will we be blessed but we’ll get a song and testimony that will help others turn to trust in God and follow Him as well.

    Psalm 25:5
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

  17. When we put our trust in the Lord and continually call on him for help and direction and obey his Word, he will answer and bless and others will see his hand upon our lives.

  18. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. (NLT)

“Let them see You in me, let them hear You when I speak, let them feel You when I sing.” This song has become a prayer of mine. We should find joy in doing His work, in telling others about Him. I know when someone stops and asks me even the simplist question about God it’s because they recognize Him in me. This gives me a confidence in Him and all glory be unto God when they walk away from me with a smile on their face and a new understanding of Him in their minds and heart. We can’t stop until the whole world knows of how awesome our God is!

8 I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.”
9 I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know.
10 I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness. (NLT)

  19. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

The song we sing on a daily with our life testimony is so important. If we are always in the mully grubs, discouraged, despondent our facial expression and sour actions are going to “sing” that of defeat. Who wants to serve a God that leaves His people defeated? Certainly not the world who are enjoying the pleasures of sing for a season.

We must live positive and be positive in everything we do.

Empty hands held high, Such small sacrifice
If not joined with my life I sing in vain tonight
May the words I say And the things I do
Make my lifelong sing Bring a smile to You

Let my lifesong sing to You, Let my lifesong sing to You
I want to sign Your name to the end of this day
Knowing that my heart was true, Let my lifesong sing to You

Lord I give my life, A living sacrifice
To reach a world in need, To be Your hands and feet
So may the words I say, And the things I do
Make my lifelong sing, Bring a smile to You

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Let my lifesong sing to You

  20. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

I will praise my God because he is good and I will put my trust in him because he is faithful. He is wonderful and he is on my side. Worthy of praise, he is on our side hallelujah, I can’t do this without him

  21. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Our lives are epistles read of all men. How does your book read? Our actions, deeds, words, and thoughts make up the pages . What we fill our minds and daily lives with will be seen of others. It becomes a representation of us but even more, our god.

  22. Vs.3, “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.”
Vs.10, “I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.”

This made me think of the scripture found in 2 Cor.4:3, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.”

The Time is NOW to Witness. The Time is NOW to Testify. The Time is NOW to break out into singing and praise to our God. The Time is Now to declare the Faithfulness of the Lord and His Salvation. The Time is NOW to share His Lovingkindness and His Truth with others. Why? So that others may SEE what the Lord has done in our lives, FEAR the Lord, and TRUST in the Lord themselves.

2 Cor.6:2b says, “… behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation.”

  23. 5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

God you have so many wonderful things and I’m thankful

  24. I WAITED patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. Ps. 27 : 14 2. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. 4. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Ps. 34 : 8 5. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto theel: Thank you Jesus !! I AM VICTORIOUS through Jesus Christ I Love You Jesus !! I Thank you for every thing you have done for me.

  25. From a birds eye view of the world I may seem unseeable, nonexistent maybe. But in Gods eyes I am His child! He shall never forsake me. I thank Him for bringing me out of all the sin I was in. I wouldn’t be anyone or anywhere without His guiding hand!

  26. 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

We must wait. We must do as we know to do, preaching and teaching others. We must allow Him to hear our cry, and respond.
If we be like Abram, and don’t wait until He says, then we end up with a little Ishmeal running around…

  27. Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.

I delight to do Your will, O my God; yes, Your law is within my heart. [Heb. 10:5-9.] (Psalm 40:6, 8 AMP)

  28. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

    I will bless the Lord!

A continual praise is a great witnessing tool. An attitude of thankfulness will cause strangers to want to know what are you so happy and joyful about. All we have to do is share the great news of salvation. Tell them your testimony. Where has The Lord brought you from!? Look what The Lord had done!?? Thank you Jesus for thy salvation. Thank you for washing my sisns away. Thank you for your blood. Thank you for healing me! Thank you for loving me!

Psalm 34:1-3 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

  29. Psalms 40:1-2
I waited patiently for the LORD’s help; then he listened to me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of the deadly quicksand. He set me safely on a rock and made me secure.

    Cause and effect

I waited…he listened and worked on my behalf

Sometimes we don’t get an answer, or an action and wonder where God is.

Yet we haven’t taken the time to stop and know that he is God.

When we wait in patience it gives Jesus all the time it takes to work out a miracle, or a blessing.

Wait on The Lord be of good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart wait I say on The Lord
    Psalm 27:14

  30. “And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord”. David did not hide his praise. With all the false gods and religions, within one’s very neighborhood, it is all the more imperative that one not hide one’s praise, to the only true God (Jesus). What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  31. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

He puts a song in my heart, everyday !
    Because I am VICTORIOUS !!

  32. 11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

This is what keeps me everyday-his tender mercies. His lovingkindness draws me to repent and become washed in his forgiveness, then his truth leads me in paths of righteousness. I’m so thankful for your keeping power, for the answer to so many prayers. I wait upon you and you keep my foot in an even place.

  33. v1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me and heard my cry.

v13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

Our deliverance begins with a cry.
As the Psalmist the prayer of crying out will always bring GOD to our side.

    “THE LORD BE MAGNIFIED.” Ps.40:16

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iCry out
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iRejoice

    I am victorious through
    CHRIST JESUS. !!!!

  34. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Thank you Lord for the song of salvation. It is a song that I sing everyday. It is a melody that others hear and desire to learn.

Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. -Psalms 96:2
Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. -Psalms 96:3
Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. -Psalms 96:10

  35. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

pastor has been asking us as the church family to speak to ourselves and tell ourselves I am victorious! In this verse the writer says that God put a song in his mouth a song of praise. I can imagine him singing and praising God to himself and encouraged himself in the Lord! if we speak victory and sing praises we will see victory!

  36. Sure feet
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

Thank you Jesus that when I think I’m going to fall into the muck that I am trudging through that you pick me up and place me in a steady place. You are the rock of my salvation. You are the sure foundation to me. Thank you Jesus for every thing you do for me!

  37. O lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them. (Psalms 40:5 NLT)

Who can compare to you Oh Lord!!! You have been so good to me. I can not tell it all!!
