Psalm 41

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

4 I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

  1. 6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

Speaking ill of someone, whispering against them, and or gossiping is a SIN. DO NOT DO IT. It is better to use your tongue and breath Praising God and praying for your brothers and sisters. BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

  2. 8. An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

When they say we you will never get back up, just remember that it doesn’t matter what ‘they’ say – it matters what God says and what we speak into our own lives.

    Micah 7:8 KJV
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

  3. I am victorious!

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

When your in the hand of The Lord it doesn’t matter what the enemy is doing. Our Pastor says ” What’s a yapping dog to a runaway freight train?” I know that I’m secure in his will because he is always there for me. I win because of who He is.

    I am victorious!

  4. 7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

Many times we think we know our friends, but then the smallest of things will change them. For Judas it was thirty pieces of silver, and he was willing to betray the Lord.
Friends are friends in good times and bad, but your enemies will always try to find a weakness in you and will devise evil against you. They will rejoice when you are down.
Thank God for my friends that have stayed with me through all things!
There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

  5. Even though the whole world may seem to be against us, as long as we have Jesus that’s all we need.

  6. Yes!!!
9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

We all have had this test, if not it will surely come……. doesn’t feel to good, but when it’s all said and done we see that it was a blessing in disguise!!! Thank You JESUS!!!

  7. iLove to eat the Word

Psalm 41:12 As for me, you uphold me because of my integrity;you allow me permanent access to your presence.

The Word integrity is, according to Strong’s Concordance, is compared to the following:
    #H8550
    תּמּים
    tûmmı̂ym
    toom-meem’
Plural of H8537; perfections, that is, (technically) one of the epithets of the objects in the high priest’s breastplate as an emblem of complete Truth: – Thummim.

David is giving us the key of getting access into the presence of God, and that key is integrity.

    in·teg·ri·ty
    inˈtegritē/Submit
    noun
    1.
the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.
“he is known to be a man of integrity”
synonyms: honesty, probity, rectitude, honor, good character, principle(s), ethics, morals, righteousness, morality, virtue, decency, fairness, scrupulousness, sincerity, truthfulness, trustworthiness

God seeks those who will worship in spirit and TRUTH.

  8. 1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

Thank you Jesus that you have mercy on my poor soul. I broken, with sin, then you gave me life. Thank you for blessing this sinner life. To have true Life Everlasting is truly to be rich.

  9. 5 Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

6 And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

Have you ever been talked about? If you are honest with yourself you will say yes and as humans we all have wanted to handle the situation and hurt the person that hurt us, but as long as we let GOD handle the situation his vengance is far more worse than ours. So don’t get sucked up in the gossiping group, back biting and etc about other people. Again, I will say it again “if you don’t have nothing nice to say don’t say nothing at all.”

  10. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. KJV

9 Even my best friend, the one I always told everything, —he ate meals at my house all the time! — has bitten my hand. MSG

Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. How much trust/faith do we put in friends; more than they deserve? We are instructed to make new friends as part of the leadership covenant of POFW. I do not have many friends. I have not had many good experiences in the past with friends. I find myself very guarded and not very open to new people. I can fake it when I need to but left to my own, I would probably not make/have any “new” friends.

I thank the Lord for my wife and daughters not being like me. Their eagerness to find and cultivate friendships has increase my friendship base. My wife often says I would be a hermit living in the woods somewhere if it were not for her; she is likely correct.

  11. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

*Even the closes of friends that you thought was going to be there till the end. Turn their back in you. Abandons you. It hurts really bad it feel like all this time they were lying to you. I know 😦
But God has a purpose for them to walk out on you. They wernt meant to stay in your life.
God has blessings coming after hurts and pains. You just have to receive them let God bless you.

  12. Only one will triumph

By this I know that thou delightest in me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. (Psalm 41:11 ASV)

Triumph – [8131] רוע rua 45x [H] to raise a battle cry; sound a trumpet blast; shout in triumph or exaltation [7321]

    1 Peter 5:8
Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [ in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

There is a saying that goes “to the victor go the spoils.”

We mustn’t think that the battle is over. When we lose focus we tend to drift into complacency. This is when the enemy attacks. Yet we should never be afraid of the enemy. We war, we fight, and we battle.

The devil attacks, provokes, tempts, and tries to steal, kill, and destroy. However he can never triumph!

This belongs to the people of God! We are triumphant. Though we are in the battle we we stand on the winning side and join the triumphal march with Christ Jesus!

    2 Corinthians 2:14
But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,

  13. This chapter to me is a good example of how to look past and move forward from a sour situation. A good example of how to praise despite a bad scenario (just like Pastor preached last night).

A friend you trusted so well turns their back on you and hurts you. You are shocked and want to grieve but realize that despite this there is always a friend that sticketh closer than a brother – Jesus! Instead of seeing all the negative be positive and know that God has favored you and kept you. Then in the very last verse (like Pastor preached last night) praise even in the worst of times, even when you don’t feel like it. Praise The Lord!

  14. Be Merciful and Raise Me Up
    Psalm 41:10-13

v.12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.
Job 36:7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous : but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

  15. 1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

God is calling all people to be saved, poor, rich, blind, young, old, crippled, and more. When these come to the house of God , we as saints must look at them all as the same, someone who God wants to fill with His spirit and start them on the path of being great saints of God, working in His kingdom, bringing other souls into the truth!!Let’s all get a burden for the lost of this city and our loved ones, where ever they may be!
    I am a winner!! I am VICTORIOUS !!

  16. Blessed 1. BLESSED is he that considereth the poor : the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. 2. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. Ps. 27 : 12 3. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. 4. I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. 2 Chron. 30 : 20 5. Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish? 6. And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it. Ps. 12 : 2 7. All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt. 8. An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. 9. Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. 2 Sam. 15 : 12 10. But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. Thank you that you hide me from mine enemies when I call on you Jesus Thank you Jesus that no weapons formed against me will prosper in Jesus name. Thank you Jesus , you encamp angels round about me to protect me when I call on your name. The most Beautifulest name in the world.

  17. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

When faced with this type situation, our integrity and good name is so important. We are all about character and integrity. If we lose that we lose our influence in the lives of those who are watching us. If we can learn to give these situations to the Lord and let Him fight our battles, we will keep our integrity and good name, and we will come out of the situation the victor! We are victorious in Christ.

    Proverbs 16:7
When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

If we will do what’s right, God will do what’s right!

  18. 11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

    We are victorious!
Sometimes it seems like the whole world is against us, that we are on the losing end. We get knocked down but in this battle it’s not how often we get knocked down but that we get back up! We may be down but we are not out! It’s in our low times when we start to pick ourselves up that we can feel the strength of The Lord carrying us, and we know He is fighting for us.

  19. 1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

Wen we do for others we never know , what doors He is going to open up for us.

Because poor, means so much more than just short on money, this verse can mean so much more,:

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor, those not only short on cash, but also those with a down cast countanance, or those lacking in their basic needs, or even those with only a small revelation of something about Jesus or His word : the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.— KAB version

  20. THE BLESSINGS OF CONSIDERING OTHERS

BLESSED – happy and fortunate are those that
CONSIDER – instruct, prosper, (deal) prudent(-ly), (give) skill(-ful), teach, (have, make to) understand(-ing), (be, behave self, consider, make) wise(-ly), guide wittingly. The
POOR – weak or thin:—lean, needy, poor (man), weaker.

Basically, the psalmist is instructing believers to look for people to teach, train and invest in; not loafers or lazy people; but people that are hard working and have potential that are not puffed up with pride or self willed. People that walk humbly and sincerely seek the WILL of GOD and are willing to be instructed. They may be poor in resources; money, food, clothing or poor in spirit; weak, tested and tried.

Some are poor because of choices, the enjoy the poverty life and mentality, always begging and the victim; too lazy to be responsible for their own actions, self and life. Others are poor because of pride, trying to obtain more than they can afford to impress others.

In considering the poor; the wise steward will sew on good ground. Ask questions and find out why they are in the situation, why their family will not help them, and most importantly find out if they will receive instruction because we already know they will receive resources.

“If they will not receive your advice they will waste your money.”

The BLESSINGS of CONSIDERING the poor.

    1. Happiness
    2. Favor of the LORD
    3. Preservation
    4. LIFE
    5. Abundance
    6. Protection
    7. Strength
    8. Healing

Considering the poor means taking a risk. Occasionally we will be deceived and give to the lazy and not the poor. GOD sees our willing heart and will honor the attitude and spirit of giving. However he also sees if we sow into a whirlwind, someone that has no intent on serving the LORD, they are simply around for the handout, people that we know have wasted opportunities and blessings and are none the better. They need correction not money.

    Invest and Give WISELY.

  21. Bless those as you want to be blessed…

1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

When I meditated on this verse sone scriptures came to mind.

    Proverbs 19:17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

    Proverbs 28:27
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

And we see here that there is a reward for the actions taken. Sometimes being poor is not necessarily in money but could be a time when they are down spiritually, and we invest a prayer, our time and some encouraging words. Your friends spiritual tank may have been running low and you’re going through a season that you are being filled. You give out some of yours to help your brother out. Those may be the times that one sees because it wasn’t a material or monetary investment, but the Lord sees and knows. At other times it may be very well buying a pair of shoes for your friend/brother in Christ. The money it’s just not enough in that season and they’re running out of resources. The Lord promised to take care of us, and I am reminded how we are the hands and feet of Jesus. Now God can use any one even those not in the church, but if you see here in His Word there is great rewards for loving your neighbor as yourself.

    Matthew 25:35-40

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

  22. 4 I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Heal my soul Lord and remind me that my past is nothing that can come back to me. Thank you my God for delivering me and holding me up. Thank you for being my strength. Heal me from what I can’t let go of and deliver me from the enemy that tries to pull me down. I bless your name Lord because you are always good, you will never leave me nor forsake me and for that I thank you… Thank you for never leaving me

  23. 7 All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

People will always talk about you, especially when you’re doing something good. The good thing is we don’t have to worry about what they are saying about us. Yes, words can hurt, but our God gives us strength. We are victorious in Jesus!

  24. Victorious

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

    Proverbs 24:16
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

    Micah 7:8
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

Life comes with trials and failures and discouraging events but we know it is the Lord’s favor upon us that leaves us triumphant on the other side. The night season leading up to it may seem dark and long but there is joy when our morning dawns. Trouble fills this life but trouble won’t last always, the blessing of the Lord overtakes the trouble. No matter the situation we must not faint in getting back up, seeking Jesus, and trusting Him to turn our darkness to day so we can live victorious in Him.

    Psalm 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

  25. Everything that God does He has a reason behind it. Sometimes we take a situation in our own hands and cause something that God didn’t intend for us to encounter. But thanks be to God who can turn ashes into beauty! It’s taken me a long time but I am thankful for the trials I have been through! Without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

    Thank you Jesus!

  26. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Friends come and go. But most of the time friends that are with you for a season, are there to laugh, cry, and grow you. We may not understand why things happen the way that they do when they’re no longer with you. But through it all it teaches you to be more compassionate, understanding, loving, merciful, and it also teaches you to forgive!
    Prov. 17:17

  27. NLT of Psalms 41:1-3
    1) Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
    2) The Lord protects them
    and keeps them alive.
He gives them prosperity in the land
and rescues them from their enemies.
    3) The Lord nurses them when they are sick
    and restores them to health.

We truely are BLESSED when we help the poor and those in need. God makes us happy, and he takes care of us.
Prov. 14:21b says, “… but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.”
Prov. 28:27a says, “He that giveth to the poor shall not lack:…”

  28. 4 I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Repentance is needed daily as is confessing our faults. Then we can be free from the weight of sin. When God heals the soul, the desires to sin can even be destroyed. True repentance brings a change so that those things you once loved-you hate, & the things you used to hate-you love. So when we seek forgiveness we must also seek a healing for our soul. Then we are free indeed!

  29. v7 All that hate me whisper together against: against me do they devise my hurt.

v8 An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him : and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

Seems like the Psalmist was a victim of witchcraft . This teaches us that when we visit the sick we should speak words of faith and uplifting , and not evil empty words
that fasten upon someone ‘s life .

Whispers and gossip is as witchcraft .

Proverbs 18:21. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

James 5:15. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the LORD shall raise him up : and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgive him.

If you don’t pray the prayer of faith don’t fool with prayer at all.
    There’s only ONE divine healer
” The LORD SHALL RAISE YOU UP.”

    iPraise

  30. NLT 4 “O Lord,” I prayed, “have mercy on me, for I have sinned against you.”

Thank you Lord for having mercy upon me. I will continue to praise & worship you as my savior!

  31. 9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

The Lord is a friend that will never leave your or forsake you. He has been with our family even when it seems the darkest.

    The Lord is Great!!

  32. Verses 11-13 MSG “Meanwhile, I’m sure you’re on my side—no victory shouts yet from the enemy camp! You know me inside and out, you hold me together, you never fail to stand me tall in your presence so I can look you in the eye. Blessed is God, Israel’s God, always, always, always. Yes. Yes. Yes.”

“Yes. Yes. Yes……My answer will be “Yes, Lord Yes”. The only victory shouts are coming from the Jesus camp! Yes. Yes. Yes.

  33. You have preserved my life because I am innocent; you have brought me into your presence forever. (Psalms 41:12 NLT)

There’s always conditions with God. You do your part and He will always follow through with His part.

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place. (2 Chronicles 7:14, 15 NLT)

  34. Extending a hand.

    Psalms 41:1 (NASBStr)
    PSALM 41
The Psalmist in Sickness Complains of Enemies and False Friends.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.

    1 How blessed is he who considers the helpless;
The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble.

Helpless is from the Hebrew, dal (דל, 1800), “one who is low, poor, reduced, helpless, weak.” David relates to those who are weak through his sickness. Consider the thoughts running through his head. David, a warrior who had slain thousands, is weakened by sickness and vulnerable. In his vulnerability, he is mocked by enemies and back biting friends.

He prays to God for his blessings reminding The Lord of the blessings for his compassionate heart. In our needs we must remind God of his promises. It isn’t that Hod has forgotten but rather we demonstrate our faith by the words of our mouths. God is not ever lacking in ability to bless. But in our humility he is waiting for us to confess the promises of his word. When we consider those in need And help them we have a right to remind God of his promise to bless those who help the needy. In our time of need God reciprocates our faith with blessings of deliverance, strength, and protection.

  35. I know you are pleased with me, for you have not let my enemies triumph over me. (Psalms 41:11 NLT)

If you’re ever feeling down as if you are not winning/being successful in anything that you do, read this scripture. God has not dropped you, you’re still here and still wanted.

    A relationship with Him matters…

  36. 11-12 Meanwhile, I’m sure you’re on my side— no victory shouts yet from the enemy camp! You know me inside and out, you hold me together, you never fail to stand me tall in your presence so I can look you in the eye.
God is always with me everyday and never fails me! Thank you God!:)
