Psalm 55

1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

  1. Bless the Lord oh my soul.

Thank you Jesus for keeping me in the truth so long. And that I will never be out of Your Loving hand.
    You are my messiah.
This passage is so true. There’s times at when two or more friends in Christ come to church together and they profess to be your friend and then treat you like dirt. Lord, bless their heart. I pray for them. I love my brother and sister’s in Christ more than anything and maybe the Lord will forgive them and me? I love the Lord and as a servant and child of the King I’ve beentaught to forgive and be the bigger person and lean on God and he will make everything work out for the best.
    Psalm 55:13-14
But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
14/ we took sweet counsel together and walked unto the house of God in company.

I love the saints what we/I do with out them.
Love your neighbor as you would love yourself.
This is my prayer today that I would love people more and more each day and the people who might of done wrong to me.
Love them Lord… bless their hearts.

  2. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

My God has never fail me!!!!! I put all my trust in Him for He is Just.

  3. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

I use to think that God was too busy for my sorrow and emotions until a great women of God showed me that we serve a God that cares about the whole “me” He did not just die for my sin but in the process of His death He would sustain horrible treatment for the “whole me”

    Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.

If He bore this for me why would I spend my life carrying it around. Sometimes you just have to let things go and know that He will sustain you. I can testify that you may be in the middle if what seems to be a hurricane, tornado, and earthquake all at the same time but if your in the masters hands He will make sure not one drop of water, wind, or earth from below you harms you.

    Be blessed!

Today’s blog is simple yet painful, it’s the ones that are in the church family that can hurt you the most. David’s answer to betrayal is prayer!

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

If we could learn to cast our burdens on the Lord, we would learn a great lesson.
God cares for his people and will always work for us and help us even when our enenmy is giving us a bad time.
Cast your care upon him for he careth for you.
The righteous will always come out on top. Victory will be ours!

Thank you , Pastor great bible study!!!

Doing GODS Will involves struggle .
We see how the Psalmist is struggling , but his confidence and comfort was in GOD.

When it seems you’re alone and think no one cares we have a promise to stand on
GOD promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Our friends may be faithless, but our GREAT GOD IS FAITHFUL!!!

O LORD lead me (us) and enable me

HALELUJAH!!! MY GOD IS AWESOME!!! HE IS FAITHFUL!!! NO OTHER LIKE MY JESUS!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

The Things He Did For Us Inspires Me So Much Because He Died For Us And Went Through So Much Pain And Never Gave Up On Us Altho He Probly Wonted To Give Up He Didnt Give Up On Us Cause He Knew The Things We Could And What He Wonted Us To Do For Him And His Kingdom …No Other Man Or Women Would Have Done<3

I Give Myself To You Lord My Problems Things I Went Through Or Going throuvh Pain And More Because No Devil Can Compare To Your Wonderful Glorious Name Thank You Jesus..

  10. 16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

    He shall hear my voice.
We are not called to pray when we feel like it. Or as a casual responsibility. Rather we are told to press fervently. Pray without ceasing. To call upon his name not just when it’s convenient or in times of need but all the time! Morning, noon, and night. I will put my trust in Jesus in the good times and bad. I trust Him with my life, the ups and downs.

  11. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

We may fail God but thankful that God don’t fail us!!!!

  12. 22. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Remember that you are not alone with the burdens you bear! We have a loving God that is willing and well able to receive those burdens if you will offer them to Him. I am reminded of this Dottie Rambo song…

He watches the fall of the sparrow
Concerned with the lilies so fair
    How much more He cares
For the sheep of his pasture
So bring Him the burdens you bear

Bring all your needs to the alter
Bring all your needs to the Lord
He is so willing and able to help you
Bring all your needs to the Lord
Bring all your needs to the Lord

  13. 22 Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. (NLT)

Trust in The Lord and lay down your heavy burdens; He will never fail us. Thank you Jesus!

  14. It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you—my equal, my companion and close friend. What good fellowship we once enjoyed as we walked together to the house of God. (Psalms 55:12-14 NLT)

There’s no pain that can compare when a brother or sister in Christ turns their back on you. When this happens we must quickly forgive before bitterness sets in.

“To be a Christian is to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” C. S. Lewis

Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31, 32 AMP)

  15. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Lord I Gove you everything that weighs me down. I cast my cares on you for you care for me. I will not focus on where I’m at but where you are taking me and what you have planned!!

  16. David shares his disapointment being betrayed by a close friend. Hecries out to god to judge the wicked but still cannot come to grips with the fact that one of his friends has turned against him. All though the bad experience David remains confident that the Lord will sustain him he wii cast his cares on God.

  17. 22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Thank you God for you never fail me!

  18. Vs.22, “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

I’m so thankful to know that JESUS cares about me. That I can give my burdens to the Him, and he will take care of me. He will hold me up. He will be my strength.

  19. 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: 13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

Betrayal by a friend is the lament of this chapter from David’s heart. Someone he had considered a friend, walked together, shared secrets with was not the voice of the enemy in his life.

Many times we find ourselves in this same situation. Those who we think are with us in vision and purpose, are the ones wounding us with their mouths and actions.
All of us have been in the situation where we feel betrayed. Not only does it effect us, but those around us, because we can’t keep quiet that betrayal.

    Zechariah 13:6
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

We must learn to let it go. FORGIVE that we may be FORGIVEN!
Let us, the Apostolic Church of the end time – POFW , put away childish things, bitterness, jealousy, envies, strife, malice and discord, and unify as ONE body, on the same team, so that we can see the last day outpouring of the Holy Ghost in our region.

  20. Call On Jesus

This Psalm describes the pain not just from being wounded by another but by suffering betrayal in that wounding. The wrong did not just cross the bounds of general love for another but violated the bounds of relationship. But V16 gives a key point amongst the emotional tumult:

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

When we are wounded, it is so tempting to our human nature to get bitter. We can obsess over the wrong until we have blinders on to everything else and the only solution we see is for there to be justice exacted upon the wrong-doer. But their wounding will not heal ours. Even if there is a sense of emotional appeasement at first, our pain will not be fixed by another “getting theirs.” Our help is found in the Lord, and our solution is to call upon Jesus in the midst of our pain and allow Him to be Savior. There is a similar situation in Micah 7 as found in this Psalm:

    Micah 7:2-8
2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

3 That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

4 The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.

7 Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

The solution found here is the same: I will look to Jesus and find my salvation in Him. When we are truly in that place of trusting Jesus, we can forgive those who wronged us and be free of that feeling that forgiving them means giving up our entitlement to help for our hurt. When Jesus is the help for our hurt, we don’t have to hold a grudge to appease the pain.

Woundings will come but in the midst of our pain and trial, we must remember that our salvation comes from calling on Jesus and releasing those who hurt us of that debt. There isn’t any help in holding a grudge but there is salvation in calling upon Jesus.

  21. Attend unto me 1. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. 2. Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; Isa. 38 : 14 3. Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. 4. My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. Ps. 116 : 3 5. Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. 6. And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST MY LORD!!!!! He is always with me. He walks with me and He and talks with me. Thank you Jesus for be to wake up and take another breath on this day. To thank you and love you. Praise ye the LORD!!!!

  22. When your in a mess the thought of giving up comes to mind at least once.
But remembering that God is with you and will help you if you just cry out, is something I believe David is trying to tell us in this chapter.

55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then I would fly away, and be at rest.

7 Lo, then would I wander off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

But then I believe he rethinks his thought (prayer) because God doesn’t want us to wander off nor to stay in the wilderness for the rest of our lives.
To stay by his side and to cry out when you need help, when you feel yourself slipping away from the presence of God.

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and The Lord shall save me.

  23. 9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

    Unified for what?

As I read this few verses I thought back to genesis and how the people had one language to do their own think and not the will of The Lord.
Verse 9 says, “destroy, o Lord, and divide their tongues..”
Back in Genesis The Lord had commanded to fill all the earth but instead they found a place they liked and started to build a tower. A tower of what? I would say rebellion. The Lord came down and saw the power of speaking the same thing; unity. Isn’t so interesting how we get along greatly with those that have our same views, “speak the same”, those who speak about sports, or outdoors…or gossip. Those that like to spread little fires with their tongues. Sadly, here we see how the psalmist said they were the ones next to him. Not a stranger but the ones that got counsel together…in essence it could be the ones sitting next to you in the house of God. Those can be the deepest wounds you get. The people that are supposed to love you most. Nonetheless, we see here the example that it may happen. My thought was….be careful who you get in unity with. You don’t to start speaking the same evil things. Just like there is power in unity to do great things for God, there is power to do great destruction against the will of God. I see here how in his prayer he wanted to leave away from it all and them that spoke and harmed him…but then thought it well and remembered that God is greater and mighty action he took. To pray pray and pray… We know what God did in genesis he divided their tongue and spread them away. So will he do to those that use unity in the wrong way. God want us to know that we can turn to Him, and Pray, because whatever it is, just like it says, there’s nothing new under the sun, He already took care of it!
Thank You Lord for answering prayers

  24. THE PAIN OF CHURCH RELATIONS

Psalms 55:10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

Adam Clarke Commentary offers this explanation in regards to verses 12-14:

Verse 12. It was not an enemy. It is likely that in all these three verses Ahithophel is meant, who, it appears, had been at the bottom of the conspiracy from the beginning; and probably was the first mover of the vain mind of Absalom to do what he did.
Verse 14. Walked unto the house of God in company. Or with haste; for the rabbins teach that we should walk hastily TO the temple, but slowly FROM it.

Proven over the years, as many have experienced and even more have witnessed is THE PAIN OF CHURCH RELATIONS. Someone you trusted with damaging information shared it with someone else, someone that doesn’t even know you has said something about you, someone you respect has accused you, someone in authority has ignored you, the list could compile for pages. The very unfortunate scenario occurs more than any of us would like. However, we have been warned as the Church that it would happen.

Zechariah 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

THE PAIN is the result of RELATIONSHIP, the CHURCH is a place of peace, safety and rest for the weary. The place we go to trust others and make ourselves vulnerable. We often fall into the trap of the enemy, that deceiver satan and begin to accuse one another of the accusations that have been hurled to and at us by satan. Then the PAIN, because we trusted, loved and cared we are open and vulnerable to the offense and we must learn and practice FORGIVENESS early and often, because satan has a big bag of proven offenses that are very small in the whole scheme of LIFE.

LIFE is too short to live in the PAIN of a broken relationship when we have access to the eternal healer JESUS.

The ANTIDOTE to THE PAIN OF CHURCH RELATIONS is FORGIVENESS. I encourage each of us today to seek and find the peace of GOD and allow HIS vengeance to work and therefore release all guilty parties of their trespasses that we may move forward in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. It is time for REVIVAL at The Pentecostals of Fort Worth.

As “friends” we are not always going to see eye to eye. But there must be some common ground where we can agree. To many times relationships are broken because of disagreements, even marriages, and families are broken. We must learn how to open up and communicate with one another and stop trying to be the person that’s always right!!! We must display love, understanding, and compassion to others.
We must speak, and love as Jesus.

No one is perfect here, we are all the same, made the same, and feel the same!
So tAke time to love and accept each other and allow GOD to change us.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. (John 15:12 KJV)

  26. You know, in this verse it seems to still haunt the Church today, and caused so much division. “We need to come against the Spirit of Division”…….It’s usually the one we know, and it hurts the most rather than a stranger. Yes, also someone we go to Church with too…………………………………………………………………

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

“United we Stand, Divided we Fall”…”Forgive & Educate”……………………

  27. Betrayal from someone close is the most damaging and hurtful; in my opinion. When we have someone in our lives that we allow into our inner lives we become vulnerable to them. Sometimes, they know things about us that no one else knows. When these violations occur hurts run deep.

I can understand verses such as:
12-13 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

  28. The danger of putting relationships with men before your relationship with God.

13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

David forgives quickly and calls on God…

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

Because of our love for one another it hurts real bad when our brother or our sister does us wrong. We get so upset when someone close to us breaks their word or fails us in any way. I want my friends to hold me accountable and I want friends that will be accountable to me but we cannot make Them equal to God. He is the only perfect one.

    Luke 18:19
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God.

If we put all of our trust in men, where does The Lord set in our lives?

    Psalm 20:7
Some [trust] in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

If our relationship with God is right then these things that try to get between us will just fall at our feet.

    Psalm 119:165
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

    We have to forgive quickly

    Mark 11:26
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

    NLT
    1Corinthians 13:1-2

If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.

  29. 16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Pray without ceasing. In time if need, Jesus will be there. I found that many times we think that we can do ….all by ourselves. When in reality we must call on The Lord.

  30. “But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee”. Safety and security was no more. The deceiver will always attempt to sneak in and attack where one feels safe. As such one would be wise to make ready; pray, study, and obey the word of God (Jesus), and heed the man of God. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  31. 6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

There have been times in all of our lives when we wish that we could just fly away to escape the storms of life.

Thank the Lord we can run into him and be safe.
The Lord is gracious to his children.

16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

  32. Cast and Carry
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you,” says Psalm 55:22.
But why do we carry around our cares when God says to cast them on Him?
I believe there are a number of reasons:
    · I think , This problem is my respinsibility.
    · When I worry, I feel like I’m at least doing something about the problem.
    · I think maybe I can fix this myself—and faster than God would do it.
    · I really don’t think He”ll do anything about my concern anyway.
    · It’s scary to let it go.

A verse in Hebrews, however, says:
Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
    Hebrews 10:35 NKJV

  33. Forgive.

It’s easy to take an offense, especially against a person close to you. The thing that we have to do is forgive, and do it quickly. Sometimes it may be hard to forgive , but it’s necessary. Jesus will help us to forgive from those far reaches that we don’t expose to those around us if we will just open up to him. Forgiveness is necessary.

  34. strengthen or support physically or mentally.
“this thought had sustained him throughout the years”
synonyms: comfort, help, assist, encourage, succor, support, give strength to, buoy up, carry, cheer up, hearten
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

God will keep us thru our trials he will never put more on us than we can take. God is a good God! Even thru all those trials the righteous shall not be moved. Stand still and let God be God!! My God will bring you thru!

  35. 17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

The Lord desires relationship with us.

This morning while driving to work I was racking my brain thinking of what to pray about, or who to pray about.

In the midst of this thought process The Lord quickened me in my spirit. It was as if he spoke to me something like “don’t you think that sometimes I just want to spend time with you?”

Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized the closeness of God. He wasn’t wanting a laundry list, but rather just time together.

I’m thankful we serve a God that genuinely loves us, and wants to be with us.

  36. For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him. But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my familiar friend; (Psalms 55:12, 13 NASB)

The word of God is speaking for me. That’s how I was feeling for a very long time.

  37. Divided

    Psalms 55:9
Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues,
For I have seen violence and strife in the city.

David prays for God to divide the tongues of his enemies. He is sewing discord to his enemies. It is said that united we stand and divided we fall. Jesus even said a house divided against itself cannot stand. Division creates the fall. Satan wants to divided us.

In the navy it was said that loose lips sink ships. People who run their mouth tens to create problems. Let’s practice being quick to listen and slow to speak.

  38. Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:22 NIV)

It seems that as we grow in Christ, the ones we share relationships with are the ones that have the ability to hurt us the most. If we are all in one mind in one accord, why are we trying to hurt one another? If anything we should hold out tongues and lay it at the altar that we have built and let Him take care of those problems. We can’t change people only God can.

Don’t be fake but love, love as Christ loves.

  39. The devil wants us church family to be devided. This is why we must come together and love one another. Get out of your regular comfort zone and make new friends. New believers come to the church weekly and we do not include them. Rather we forget them, when God trusted us to love them.

  40. 16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.

17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Don’t stop praying! In everything we do, we must do in prayer!
