Psalm 57

1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.

3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

Doesnt Matter What Were Going Through Or What Were Facing Right Now At The Moment Because He Already Has It All Worked Out For Us ❤ Clears Our Pathway And Lifts Us To Be His Greatest Armys Yet Tearing Down The Devils Kingdom Showing No Fear..What A Great And Migjty God Thank You Jesus: )

  4. 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

Fixed has various definition as follow: (1) : not subject to change or fluctuation (2) : firmly set in the mind (3) : having a final or crystallized form or character (4) : recurring on the same date from year to year. (5) To repair, to put in order.
Either way you look at this verse, as my heart is Fixed on You God, as of firmly set on you or my heart is fixed by You God, as of you healed it, you repaired it, you set it in order. Both are reasons to Praise our God Jesus Christ!!!!!!!! Praise Him for ALL He does. Thank you Jesus.

  5. 4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
How much pain can one man suffer? He said I lie among lions and they are set on fire with their tongue, a sharp sword to destroy me!
Words of destruction, we need to be careful how we use our tongue. The tongue is an unruly member, that must be tamed.

    James 3:8
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

These peoples tongue was sharp and teeth were set to tear apart the sons of God.

    James 3:5-6

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

The Psalmist gives a good description of James chapter 3, where the tongue is such an unruly member.

We must not tear people apart with our tongues, lie about them and tell falsehoods to destroy their imagine to others. Many people will destroy someone else to make themselves look good, but only makes them look foolish. O’little tongue be careful what you say, your words may destroy souls and stop them from coming to the house of God.

Even after David, which was fleeing from Saul, was running for his life and Saul was lying about him to the people, Saul was using his influence to try to destroy David with his tongue. Shame on Saul!!!!!
Notice David’s next words, I love this!

David said, My heart is fixed. I will sing and give praise to God, I will awake early and give my God glory. Even if the enemy is waiting on me outside my door, I will arise and give God GLORY!!!

  6. Vs.1, “Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge (a place of safety; shelter; a safe retreat), until these calamities (misery; extreme misfortunes; disaster) be overpast.”
Vs.9, “I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.”
Vs.10, “For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.”

Ps.63:7 says, “Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.”
Ps.32:7 says, “Thou are my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.”

Thank You JESUS for your mercy. When I hide under the shadow of thy wings, I am safe. You are my hiding place and help in the time of trouble. Because of your mercy; because I am safe; because you are my hiding place and help, I can sing and rejoice in the time of trouble.

  7. 7. My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

    fix
    fiks/
    verb
    1.
fasten (something) securely in a particular place or position.

“I will securely fasten my heart on praise”

    2.
direct one’s eyes, attention, or mind steadily or unwaveringly toward.

“I will direct my heart unwaveringly toward praise”

  8. 9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

Praise The Lord for He’s so awesome and glorious!

  9. He woke me up this morning, started me on my way. Give Him glory, give Him praise!

God took the precious time to wake us up and allowed us to take a a breath. Why shouldn’t we praise Him? He’s worthy of all the praise!

  10. I’M FIXED

I am thankful for the faithfulness and consistency of the WORD of GOD. in chapter 53 of Psalms we read:

Psalms 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity:

Here in Psalm 57 we find the antidote to a foolish, doubting heart. A FIXED heart is the antidote. We are VICTORIOUS when we FIX our heart, thoughts, desires and emotions on the LORD JESUS, his Mercy, his Grace, his Peace, his Joy, his Power, his Glory. Today is a great day to WAKE UP his GLORY, WAKE UP your Praise, WAKE UP and EXALT the name that is already above every name JESUS.

When we FIX our heart on PRAISE to JESUS for HIS goodness, then we empower HIM to FIX our hearts, lives, dreams and destinies.

    I AM VICTORIOUS
    I’M FIXED

  11. 4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

In David’s distress he still gave praise to the Lord – Be thou exalted O God and my heart is fixed.

Too many times in our distress we take our eyes off of Jesus and get all wrapped up in ourselves. When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus while walking on the water, he began to sink. The same is for us. When we lose our focus (JESUS) and it becomes all about us, we fail to give God praise.
Trials and troubles come to everyone, it rains on the just as well as the unjust, it is how we handle the situation that determines the length of the trial/test. If we can become like David and praise no matter what, our trial/test won’t last nearly as long.

  12. Rooted

    Psalms 57:7
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:
I will sing and give praise.

We sing a song that says my heart is fixed my mind is made up.

The word fixed in the Hebrew means to be stable, established, to be secure. To be steadfast, and fixed aright.

Another word for fixed is rooted.

Hibiscus trees have a weak root system. They are gorgeous plants. The flowers and a masterful design, but the roots have such weak fiber that the wind can blow them over, or stress them until they break when planted individually.

This is why the plant grows in a connected root system with other hibiscus. The roots are near the surface, but mat together. This connection helps each one grow together.

Not only do we need to have a strong foundation in good soil individually, but we also need to be connected to the body.

    Jesus said in John 15:5
I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.

We are part of the body, connected, and rooted together.

By ourselves we look pretty, and can seem to be healthy, but in time our lack of root, and connectivity will expose us.

    Ephesians 3:17-18
May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,
    That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];

  13. Among The Lions

4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

    1 Peter 5:6-9
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

We can find ourselves among many lions in this life, all roaring tools of intimidation if we do not resist them. But we have the promise that we can cast all our cares upon God and He will care for us. When we humble ourselves before Him in this manner, we surrender the lion problem to the Lion of Judah who is more than able to keep us.

    Daniel 6:19-22
19 Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.

20 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

21 Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.

22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.

  14. 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

This my testimony, my heart is fixed on the Lord. Even if things are not going the way I expect them to, my heart is fixed on God. Praise, glory and honor to the Lord most high.

  15. I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. (Psalms 57:9 NKJV)

I will praise you Lord Jesus every where in front of anyone. You are God you showed me mercy and gave me grace why would I want to be ashame Lord. I will praise you among my friends and among the the nations.

  16. 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
My heart is fixed my mind made up no room no vacancies I’m all filled up his spirit lives in me and that’s the reason I’m sold out!!!
It is time as Christians for us to be sold out to the truth, if we look around us we are finding that people are selling their souls to the world. We need to make. Stand for what we believe and live it to the best of our ability

  17. iLove to eat the Word

6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

The majority of the times that people set traps for folks they, they fall into their own traps. The pit that Joseph was cast in later became the 400 years of slavery for the whole nation of Israel.

6In time, Joseph and all of his brothers died, ending that entire generation. 7But their descendants, the Israelites, had many children and grandchildren. In fact, they multiplied so greatly that they became extremely powerful and filled the land.

8Eventually, a new king came to power in Egypt who knew nothing about Joseph or what he had done. 9He said to his people, “Look, the people of Israel now outnumber us and are stronger than we are. 10We must make a plan to keep them from growing even more. If we don’t, and if war breaks out, they will join our enemies and fight against us. Then they will escape from the country.b”

11So the Egyptians made the Israelites their slaves. They appointed brutal slave drivers over them, hoping to wear them down with crushing labor. They forced them to build the cities of Pithom and Rameses as supply centers for the king. 12But the more the Egyptians oppressed them, the more the Israelites multiplied and spread, and the more alarmed the Egyptians became. 13So the Egyptians worked the people of Israel without mercy. 14They made their lives bitter, forcing them to mix mortar and make bricks and do all the work in the fields. They were ruthless in all their demands.

***Our decisions affect the generations coming after us. Lets stay clear of setting traps for others.

  18. 3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

I thought about this for a while and mercy and truth stood out every time. I thank God for being my savior. I am thankful for The Lord Jesus.. He is truly mercy and truth.

  19. 7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
9 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

    My thought is this.

Awake means that something has to be asleep. So does that mean that our praise can be asleep? Now any body builder will tell you that when in training that you need to change up your routine. Because if you don’t your body will become accustom to that particular arrangement. And you will stop gaining mass. Now flip that to our praise and our praise can become so familiar to us that it’s not a sacrifice. We become accustom to the motion of praise but no heart. A sacrifice means it will cost you something. A true sacrifice of praise comes when we don’t feel like it. Maybe for sine it’s to get out of the box and dance or jump or even sing. Make a joyful noise unto The Lord all ye lands. And now awaken your praise.

  20. 5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.

In the middle of all his troubles David found a way to praise God.
No matter what we are going through, God is still God. Sometimes we just have to be patient for the reason we are going through something. God is probably trying to teach us something

  21. “I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations”. All need Jesus (God), all the more when one doesn’t think so. One would be wise to praise and sing unto the Lord (Jesus) as David did, regardless of who may hear. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  22. I want to lift you up!
11 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (John 12:32 KJV)

  23. Psalm 57 Prayers in the Midst of Perils

    Praise for God’s Mercy
    Psalm 57:7-11
My heart is fixed , O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise…..

  24. Psalm 57
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

I am determined, O God! I am determined! I will sing and praise you! NET

Determine – to come to a decision or resolution; decide.

Nothing, no nothing will stop us from praising the Lord! He has been a great and mighty God to us. He is our salvation.

Our trust is in thee O Lord!

  25. 1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
Just the thought of knowing that the merciful God that I serve will hide me in the shadow of his wings makes me full of Joy. Just lean on Jesus he will keep us all the way. He is our anchor in our storm. Let God be God.

  26. Awake the Dawn

    7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!
    8 Awake, my glory!
    Awake, harp and lyre!
    I will awaken the dawn.
    (Psalms 57:7-8 NASBStr)

The first 6 versus is David’s complaint. He transitions into his faith and praise. My heart is steadfast or firmly established. He says, “Awake my glory.”

Glory – kāḇôḏ, כָּבֹד kāḇōḏ:A masculine singular noun meaning honor, glory, majesty, wealth. This term is commonly used of God (Ex. 33:18; Ps. 72:19; Isa. 3:8; Ezek. 1:28); humans (Gen. 45:13; Job 19:9; Ps. 8:5 [6]; 21:5 [6]); and objects (1 Sam. 2:8; Esth. 1:4; Isa. 10:18), particularly of the ark of the covenant (1 Sam. 4:21, 22)
    ( CWSDict)

What is he really talking about? What is his glory? Is it the Holy Ghost, honor, wealth, splendor? He continues to say awake my musical instruments and then he will awake the dawn.

These verses to me encourage me in that I have plenty of complaints that can write my own verses 1 – 6. All I need to do is remind myself that my heart is firmly established in God and awaken the power of the Holy Spirit and awaken the wealth. I need to just throw my hands up and praise God.

Then the kicker comes in, “I will awaken the dawn.” Literally this would be ending the night, or metaphorically to bring light to a dark place. Praise will end the darkness of the night and bring forth the dawn and we know that joy comes in the morning.

For me it is extra, awake the dawn with praise-prayer and devotion before the sunrise (or when I wake up if working night shifts). What would happen if we gave God the first fruit of our day everyday? (Romans 11:16)

  27. v9 I will praise thee, O LORD among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.

Let our minds be filled with GOD’S WORD
As we sing and praise in our mid night hour come what may. Daily stresses and worries will not overwhelm our hearts
as did Paul and Silas. Acts 16:25
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto GOD: and the prisoners heard them.

O LORD may out lives serve you with a continual attitude of praise, worship, thanks offering of songs forever.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iRejoice

  28. 1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me.
10 For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.

Great is your mercy Lord-it endures forever. You are my hiding place when the storms of life hit. You guide & lead me even through the valley. I will praise you as I take refuge under your wings & will praise you when the storm has passed.
