Psalm 79

1 O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3 Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

5 How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

  1. The Problem Of Pain

    v5. ” How long, LORD ?”

Time passes quickly in pleasure it passes slowly in suffering.
GOD knows and cares when we suffer.

“And one of them shall on the ground without your Father”
( HE KNOWS the sparrow that falls )

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear ye not therefore ye are of more value than many sparrows.
    Matt.10:29-31

Disobedience brings pain and death by sin.
We must repent and ask GOD to forgive us.

vss.8-9 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

v9 Help us, O God of our salvation , for the glory of thy name : and deliver us, and purge away our sins , for thy name sake.

Don’t ever think this world loves you. Ythey love their own.

    Verse 11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee ; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

This world (sin) is a prison and ( i ) we must pray if mercy is to be extended to this generation and stop the awwful consequences of sin.

For we know that the whole creation groneth and travaileth in pain together untill now. Romans 8:22

When our enemy rises against us we must remember that GOD had mercy on us.
We first must pray for mercy. GOD desires mercy for sin and HE seeks to judge sin.

GOD will punish them by allowing the consequences of their action to catch up with them.

    2 Thessalonians 1:6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

The LORD has not asked much of us.
Only that we follow HIM as HIS disciples and learn to bear the cross and wear HIS Name proudly in a hostile world.

“It’s GOD’s will not willing that any should perish but come to repentance .”
    2 Peter 3:9

Let’s continue to pray for GOD’S
    Mercy and Grace.
    PRAISE HIS GLORIOUS NAME !!!

    iRepent
    iPraise

  2. 11. Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

…according to the greatness of thy power…

There is no limit to His power, so there is no limit to His ability to help those that need Him, except the limits we put on Him, such as disobedience or lack of faith.

  3. The Saints go marching on….

Thankyou Jesus that you teach us to be faithful even unto the end. We are going to be persecuted for righteouseness sake. So lets get up AND PRAISE HIM !!!!!!!!Jesus.
    Thankyou Lord….
    iget up
    ilove Jesus
    iobey Jesus
    ipray to Jesus
ithank Jesus for bringing me out!!!!

ilove the saints/unbelievers.its because of you Jesus.

  4. ilove to eat the Word

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

This is a good verse to get us off and running this morning…Forgiveness, humility, and deliverance. Let us walk in these and the Lord will be glorified.

  5. Victorious Praise

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

    11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

    Isaiah 38:17-20
17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

20 The Lord was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.

    Psalm 118:17
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

There’s just something about a victory song that you can’t substitute. I find it interesting the link between God’s salvation and giving praise in return. Psalm 118:17 seemingly could have stopped at, “I will not die, but live.” But it goes on to complete it with, “and declare the works of the Lord.” I don’t want to be guilty of receiving the blessing and life of the Lord without declaring His works and giving praise in return.

  6. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

I am thankful that we serve A God that will not hold our past iniquities against us. If we are faithful and just God will forgive us of our sins. His mercy will actually prevent us from failing God, and allowing sins into our lives. Yes we might be brought low, but our God will keep us in every thing.
We should glorify the great name of our God, JESUS, for his great mercy to deliver us and set us free.

  7. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

    11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

Thank you Jesus for the blood! for washing away my sins never to remember them again, thank you for delivering us and making us clean all glory goes to you! Have mercy on them that speak evil against you and you children because you will always have the last word. hear the cry of the desperate and hurting those who need and want change in thier lives hear thier cries and have mercy on them, not holding thier iniquity and sin against them. Save them like you saved me Jesus! All thanks, all honour, all glory goes to you Jesus because you and you alone can save!

  8. MY GOD

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

In claiming ownership we also claim responsibility, through identifying ourselves as the people of GOD we are claiming JESUS as our GOD. The covenant in ownership is association, by claiming JESUS as MY GOD I am associating myself with him, his nature, his statutes and his character.

I am NOT ashamed to proclaim, praise and exalt the name of JESUS above every other thing in my life. Because he is MY GOD, I will show forth his PRAISE for ever.

GOD is good to ME, thank you JESUS for every trial, test, blessing, miracle, opportunity, thank you for mercy and grace to serve you.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGIve
    iReap

  9. “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake”. They had realized their sins, however it was too late, and the price was great. One would be very wise to heed the word of Jesus (God), recognize the season, and seek the Lord (Jesus). What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  10. Oh, do not remember former iniquities against us! Let Your tender mercies come speedily to meet us, For we have been brought very low. (Psalms 79:8 NKJV)

Ohh God don’t remember my sins the days I used to not live for you and didn’t want to. I came to a point where I needed you and wanted nothing but you have mercy on me and the people that fear you please! Let your mercy show to all the world so they can see.

  11. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

I’m thankful for a God that washes away all our sin. What a mighty God we serve!

  12. 5 How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

How many times in the middle of our storms and tribulations do we look up to the heavens and as HOW LONG GOD???? I, myself. am guilty of asking that question several times in the mist of my pain. Until one day the revelation of JOY came to my mind; no matter how long I will endure to the end with JOY AND GRATEFULNESS. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. YES, in EVERYTHING, the good, the bad, and the ugly…in EVERYTHING. So, lift you hands to the heavens and instead of asking How long? Why me? What have I done to deserve this? PRAISE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL. FOR OUR GOD IS GREATER THAN OUR UPS AND DOWNS.!!!!! Thank you Jesus for your eternal love.

  13. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

We are the children of the most high. This means we bear his name. His name is upon me. The name of Jesus is the only good thing in me. For his name sake he will help us be like him, just like our fathers in the natural have trained us up in the way we should go. He remembers his children but what good father remembers all the bad things that his children do. If I am gaining the mind of Christ then I cannot and choose not to remember the bad things that my children have done. I choose to forgive, establish and promote my children. He chooses to forgive, establish and promote his children. We have to understand the position that we are in. We are the sons and daughters of The King. As he prospers, do shall we. Help us Lord realize our position in you and live like a child of God for your names sake.

  14. 13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation. (NLT)

I thank God for the opportunity to be a sheep of His pasture, to serve Him and give him all the glory and honor due unto His name. Praise The Lord God Almighty!

  15. The psalmits laments over devastating invasion of Jerusalem and begs GOD to diliver his people by judging thier hostile neighbors . When GOD acts his people will praise him forever.

  16. Sevenfold retribution

    Psalms 79:12
And return to our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom
The reproach with which they have reproached You, O Lord.

Anyone who has ever had anything taken away by the enemy or knows someone who does can speak this prayer.

Lord let a sevenfold spiritual blessing fall upon those who once knew you according to the faith. Those who will be brought back into your house through pofw will bring a sevenfold blessing from when they left. God is doing some great things and after it is all said and done, the world will have a hard time believing it.

  17. For your Glory Lord….of your name! Amen & Amen…..

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

  18. 9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

The word tells us that the opening of the Lord’s pattern of prayer for us begins with “hallowed be thy name.”

There is great power that comes when we exalt the name of Jesus, and lift it high. We should daily magnify his name, praise his name, and tell about his name.

His name saves, heals, delivers, and sets free. The name of Jesus is a strong tower the righteous runneth into and are saved.

The name of Jesus is the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

Lift up the name of Jesus, and watch him show up into your situation!

  19. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

This scripture shows us what our responsibility is… “to show forth our praise to ALL generations” to teach our children the greatness of God and to show forth his praises! It’s our responsibility to instill in our future how great and how mighty God is .

  20. Jesus sake

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

It us for thy name’s sake. It is for JESUS’ sake that we were forgiven. It was for Jesus’ sake that we were delivered. It us for Jesus’ sake that our sins are gone. If it was all because jesus why do we try to control things and make them ours?

  21. 13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

It is evident that as people we tend to stray away from God. In here I see how the psalmist prayed to God asking if He will be angry still? But The Lord is faithful and Just to forgive if we confess our sins and repent, turn the other way. And wow that in itself is great to be shared.. Tell all the generations how the tremendous God forgave and saved us from all our troubles. Thank You Jesus for your love, blood and your salvation

  22. True Repentance does not start by turning away.
It officially starts with understanding what is wrong and why it is wrong.
Because if you don’t understand what is wrong and why it is wrong you will not have that passion to please God nor that willingness to turn around. Without the understanding and willingness; after you turn away from it, you go right back to it, therefore not a true repentance.

  23. HELP US 9. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake. 10. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed. 11. Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; 12. And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord. 13. So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. I AM VICTORIOUS!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! I THANK YOU TODAY JESUS!!!!! I LOVE YOU and ADORE YOU!!!!!

  24. 8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

We have an able God who hears our prayers. In his time is when our prayers will come to pass. Be encouraged to reach out to God, he is merciful, repent and stay away from sin. Have faith and glorify him for everything, for he is worthy to be praised.
