Psalm 80

1 Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

4 O Lord God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?

5 Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.

6 Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

8 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

9 Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.

10 The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.

11 She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.

12 Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?

13 The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.

14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

16 It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.

17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

    22. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
    23. Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
    24. The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
    25. The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
    26. The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
    27. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

I pray that God blesses and keeps every one of you and makes His face shine on you with blessings and peace in Jesus Name, Amen!

  3. God brought us to where we are for a reason. We should worship and praise him and turn back to him so that he will revive us to where we once were in our relationship with him.

  5. 19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved
Please O’ God turn us again, remember our prayers and let thy face shine upon us. If God is not happy with us and does not smile upon us, I am afraid we will not be saved. I pray God let thy face shine on me, I want to be in that number that God is happy with.

  8. Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. (Psalms 80:19 NLT)

I won’t be satisfied until the only thing I got is you!! All i want is you! And your blessing and your will to be done in my life.

  9. REVIVAL NOW

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Verses 3, 7 and 19 all declare an identical request.

“Turn us” is symbolic of REPENTANCE, when we turn away from sin to GOD.
Repentance is the 1st step to restoring our relationship with GOD.

“cause thy face to shine” is symbolic of the GRACE and FAVOR of GOD.
Grace is the only HOPE that any of us have for salvation.

“we shall be saved” is symbolic of our OBEDIENCE.
Obedience activates the WORD and PROMISES of GOD in our lives.

    Consider:

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

The word saved has been cheapened over time by abusive misuse in regards to how it is viewed and practiced. Many think that JESUS simply saves everybody. If that were true then nobody would be lost, however the bible declares through the prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah 5:13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
15 And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

HELL hath ENLARGED herself. Which means there has been unexpected growth in sin.

I say along with the psalmist today, “Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.”

  10. 19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

God of hosts, restore to us the light of your favor. Then we’ll be delivered. ISV

Jesus Christ is the sources of our Power and Strength. It is important that we understand that when we lean and trust in Him, He is able to keep us from falling. He is able to preserve us because He gives us His favor and favor with man.

  11. “Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved”. They cried unto Jesus (God) once they realized how much they needed the Lord (Jesus). Just as this was their plea, one would be wise to recognize the hour and earnestly seek the Lord today. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  12. 18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

REVIVE US!!! NO BACKSLIDING!!! REVIVE ME!!!

  13. 19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Let your light shine today for the glory of God!

  14. What has hinderd your prayers?

O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers? You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful. (Psalms 80:4, 5 NLT)

There is only one thing that first comes to my mind, and that would be sin.
Second what type of prayers are you praying?
I know and believe that God hears your prayer and will answer according to His will for your life. Not when or by what our fleshly desires are.
As for me I want His perfect will for my life, (Jer. 29:11)for He already knows what’s best for me. I need to make sure that my heart is right with my Savior, with my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and those out of the church, and also right within myself.
No selfish prayers allowed. Perfect example:

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10 KJV)

  15. 3 times in the Amplified Version of this chapter does it say, “Restore us again, O God of hosts; and cause Your face to shine [upon us with favor as of old], and we shall be saved!”

To be restored is a type of “reviving” that Pastor preached about yesterday morning, bringing those things which are dead, or different than they once was, back to it’s original state.

18 Then will we not depart from You; revive us (give us life) and we will call upon Your name.

It’s time for REVIVAL NOW @ POFW!

  16. 17 Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

I want the hand of God to always be upon me!

  17. This Psalm shows David’s desperation. He wants God to turn back to the people. He tells if the good things and mercies of God and asks for The Lord to turn back. Often what I find is that when we think Hod has turned his back on us, it is really us who have turned our backs on him.

Jesus, help us to always be seeking the face of God! Let us never turn our backs on you.

  18. 8 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.

Jesus made provision and built up the Israelites. They flourished and inhabited the land. As long a they lived for God they prospered. It’s when they turned from the one true God that they began their descent. In harsh times they would cry out to God, knowing it was their own fault. They used God as a temporary shelter, only calling to Him when they wanted to be saved from the trouble they got themselves into. We need to be careful even in modern times to not just run to God whenever we are in trouble then abandon him. Living for God is a full time commitment.

  19. HALELUJAH!!!

O JESUS, YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH, YOUR BLOOD STILL WORKS!!! so when the enemy comes in like a flood, ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS JESUS!!! FOR THIS AND EVERYTHING ELSE I THANK YOU JESUS!!!
    HALELUJAH!!! THE BLOOD STILL WORKS!!!

  20. 7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

18 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

if my back is ever towards you God then I am staring into darkness because you are the light. I want to stare into your ever shining light even though it might cause me to become undone by your holiness I wouldn’t turn my back on you the world. I know who to call on when I’m in trouble, when I’m sad and need someone. I will keep myself in your light Lord that I might be saved

  21. The psalmist appeals to GOD the shepherd of israel to save his people. Israel is experiencing Gods angerfor he has withdrawn his protection. Again he ask God to restore his people that they may be saved.

  22. This is why, we need “Jesus”…he is the Light of this world! “Thine Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”. Shine Lord, and we shall be saved, and we can see the path before us. “Let us be like Christ, a light to this world, and let your light shine”. “Don’t hide your Candle under a bushel”.

3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

    “Be that Light”………………………………………..

  23. 18 Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more.
19 Turn us again to yourself, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. (NLT)

Revive us Lord that we may be turned unto You with a new passion for You.

  24. 3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

    Saving grace….

    HEBREWS 7:25
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto GOD by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercessian for them.

What a good God we have. Thankyou Jesus for saving me from my trials and tribulations and prayers to serve You, my Jesus. I love you Jesus…and all the saints say amen and amen.

  25. v18 So will not we go back fromthee:quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

    Time Is Running out.

If the Day Of Pentecost was the beginning of the last . Pray tell me ….. are we not living in the last of the last days????
    Time is running out!

But Peter , standing up with the eleven , lifted up his voice , and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem , be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

For these are not drunken, as ye suppose , seeing it is but the third hour of the day .

But this is that ( not like that but this is
that ) which was spoken by the prophet
    Joel:
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions , and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
    Acts 2:14-18

    It’s revival time!
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward , that I will pour out my Spirit
upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and young men shall see visions

And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will i pour out my Spirit. Joel 2:28-29

Wow!!! LORD help us ( me ) to be responsible with your WILL, and hear and obey your voice .
Renew and restore ( my ) our prayer lives in this last hour.
What GREAT responsibility souls ,love ones are depending on our prayers.

Neglect not the gift that is in thee.

  26. Vs.18, “So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.”

This passage of scripture made me think of the scriptures found in St. John 6:63 & 67-68.
63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
67 “Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?”
68 “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”

Quicken means to enliven or revive.
There is NOTHING in this world to go back to. When we feel a little dry in our spirit or life seems to be beating us down, we need to let the Holy Ghost quicken (enliven and revive) us. We need to call on the Name of JESUS, for He alone has the Words of Eternal Life. The words that He speaks to us will revive our spirit and will give us life.

  27. Prayer for Restoration
Psalm 80 This psalm is concerned in its entirety with Israel, the northern kingdom. It seems refer to the fall of Samaria, the capital , in 722 B.C. and constitutes a prayer that the Lord would restore His people.

  28. Summer yard work.

As summer gas officially started , we see people pruning their bushes and cutting down trees that ae dead.
If we do this in the physical, then why do we think that God doesn’t do this too. It was mans job ,after sin, to prepare the land and to tend it. We may look at this and ask why would God so this. I believe the answer is simple. Sin. If there was no sin, we would all be perfect. But we’re not. So God must cut away those that are dead ,unfruitful, and just choke people out, the weed. It is that season again were God must cut into us and take out was does not need to be there. Thank God that he does this to me. Because I know that even though it hurts. It’s for the best for me.

  29. The sin of independence

    14 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;

15 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.

None of us are an island to ourselves. We all are utterly, completely, and absolutely dependent upon The Lord.

    The word tells us
    John 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches:He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:for without me ye can do nothing.

The word nothing is a compound Greek word meaning Not even one thing.

We can’t do anything, one single thing without God. He is the sustainer, provider, and giver of life.

There is great strength in knowing our dependence on him.

  30. 19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

No matter how far we have gone or how far he is going to take us, we have to keep a repented heart. When we keep that repented heart and let the spirit take over, his face will shine.

  31. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. -Psalms 80:19

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. -Isaiah 60:1

Lord let your light shine upon us lead into the lighted paths. Your word leads us:

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. -Psalms 119:105

  32. 3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Thank you Jesus for your mercy and loving kindness its so good to know that God will keep us in every situation that we face.

  33. Prayer

So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. (Psalms 80:18 KJV)

Call upon thy name in prayer. There’s a region waiting and counting on us to stand in the gap and intercede for them to bring Heaven on Earth.
Lighting and thunder Heaven on Earth!
    We must pray

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. (Revelation 8:3-5 KJV)

  34. Amazing Grace

3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

    Proverbs 16:15

In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

    Luke 4:17-19 NLT
17 The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

19 and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

    Hebrews 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

God’s grace truly is amazing, not just for what it does for us but for simply what it is: God’s unmerited favor. And as His children, we are invited to come boldly before His throne to obtain mercy and, like Noah, find His grace. To find His grace implies that there was a search first, as supported by the meaning in the original Greek. I do not believe this means God dangles grace out on the end of a stick and taunts us with it until we struggle hard enough to get it that He gives in.

Rather, it seems to echo the pursuit involved in relationship with Him. Like breath to our body, there is naturally pursuit in a relationship and a sense of jealousy and protectiveness over that relationship, similar to the way anything that interferes with breathing (or even feels like it could, like a tight scarf) becomes a hinderance to be eliminated. Breathing is one of those things that can operate subconsciously if all goes well (like when we’re asleep), but can quickly become a strong driving force at the front of our mind if it gets cuts off and can produce extreme acts to regain it.

As we pursue God, favor is to be found. Not because we earned it through the level of effort we exerted in pursuing it but because it is a by-product of relationship.

Thinking of the setting described in Hebrews 4, it can at first seem like a formal, down-to-business place: the throne of God. But thinking more of it, what is the throne? It’s the place where God rules, where decisions and commands are givens, where issues are brought before Him, where requests are made… More than just a seat of judicial or legislative function, it becomes the place where the heart of God is revealed and put into motion. As Jesus in the passage in Luke 4 quotes of Isaiah, God’s heart was being revealed and put into action in the time of His favor by bringing the gospel to the poor, proclaiming release for captives, sight for the blind, and freedom for the oppressed.

The throne of God is not some distant, lofty, far off place for an untouchable ruler but is the place of mercy and grace of the One who was touched with our infirmity and let’s us in return touch His heart and receive the mercy and find the grace we need. As we pursue relationship with Him, we pursue His heart, and in finding His heart, we can find His favor. There is grace for salvation that we find upfront because He knows in our weakness we needed our Savior to come to us before we could come to Him, but from there we must build relationship with Him in a mutual pursuit as grace grows in drawing nearer to Him.

    Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

  35. This psalm asks God to rescue and restore the people from their calamities. God is the source of our salvation and we need to depend on him to get out out of trouble.

  36. Quicken Us 17. Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. Ps. 89 : 21 18. So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. 19. Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. Ps. 80 : 3 I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST !!!!! I EXALT YOU!!!! PRAISE YE THE LORD!!!! YOU are high and lifted up!!!!

  37. 8 So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.

19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Revival… That is the word that kept jumping out as I read this chapter. Revival now! As I meditated on this, I thought of a flame. Revival starts with us and in us, individually and collectively, the church. Questions like: what’s taking your fire? what quenches the love and passion in you? We know that sin is the only thing that keeps us away from God. Slowly, life keeps fading as the flame goes down. Repentance reignites revival. There is a healing that must take place. A relationship that needs to be restored with the Lord. Once we have turned away from sin and face God again and allow His light to shine on us and kindle the fire within us. Fire is catchy and consumes everything in its way as to just come in contact with it. It is time to catch on fire today.

    2 Chronicles 7:14
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

  38. 7 Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

Without his help, mercy & grace, how can we be saved? We need you Lord to shine on us-to bless & favor us so that we can be saved. Amen

  39. 3 Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

The enemy is always in the mist of things, by the power of God we can do all things. The flesh is our own enemy, but in Jesus name I am victorious. Lord you are in control shine on me.
