Psalm 81

1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

4 For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

15 The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

    GOD Yearns For HIS People

HE IS SEARCHING for those who will return HIS LOVE. To those who will deeply fall in love HIM, ….” Who loved us even before we were created.” Eph.1:4

JESUS PRAYED that we would delight in an intimate relationship with HIM.
    John 17:20

And HE found HIS purpose and kept HIS focus because HE was a man of prayer.
In prayer is where we find this relationship .
In prayer we will discover HIS heart and mind and share our joys, and needs.
GOD desires to bless ,favor, help, and deliver HIS children.
We must move forward by faith and obey HIS HOLY WORD ” Till we become like our
    Savior.” Romans 8: 29

    With this fellowship comes responsibilities

  2. His Love and Mercy is calling out for you.

Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! (Psalms 81:13 NLT)
What more do we desire from this world? We’ve tried everything that our hearts have desired. And only God has truly given us peace, joy, life, health, provision, so why not continue in His path of truth and righteousness through obedience to His word.
Let us not forget where The Lord has brought us out of, A life full of sin that would lead us to death!!!
But God showed up on time, so that we may live and not die. Thank you Jesus.

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV)

  3. 10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Sometimes when people want the Holy Ghost they go up but stay silent through the prayers. OPEN YOUR MOUTH WIDE AND I WILL FILL IT. Thank you Jesus for filling my heart, my soul, and my mouth with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. I woke up with a song of praise in my mouth and a prayer in my heart. What Joy it is to have you be our Lord and Savior.!!!!!! So, open your mouth, speak of His Marvelous Works!!!! Praise Him!!! Talk with Him!!!

  4. 13. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
    14. I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

God is eager to help us, but we must be obedient to His voice and walk in His ways.

    Matthew 23:37 KJV
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

    Isaiah 43:13 KJV
Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

  5. 8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

    HEAR
This is a major problem with people, HEAR, many people have a problem hearing. The scriptures even says in places, having ears and hear not. Most people only hear what they want to not everything that was said.
Now most of all these verses are about hearing what God is saying. If we hear what the Lord says and hearken unto what he says, God will bless us!
Do not have strange God’s and absolutely do not worship those God’s.
Let us remember that the Lord God of Israeli brought us out of Egypt and has kept us.
Let’s praise God, fill our mouths and hearts with PRAISE!!!

  6. Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes! (Psalms 81:13, 14 NLT)

*Why couldn’t Isreal just dedicate them selfs like God did when they blessed them and deliverd them! How could you not wanna thank someone for their help. Hard headed people! They owe The Lord their lives!
I wanna stay on the right path I don’t wanna get caught up in anything this world has to offer me it’s not enough.it wasn’t enough. It’s not promising but only your gifts and blessings and the word you give us is promising.
Yea I know what’s right and I also know what’s wrong lead my thoughts and my feet going down the righteous pass you have for me. Let my ministry be a blessing to you!

God I want to minister for your kingdom.

But I would feed you with the finest wheat. I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.” (Psalms 81:16 NLT)

*Nothing satisfy more me then what you have to offer. not money, no car, no job, no house, not even love from a women can satisfy me. I want you. Everything else can follow through after I have you. Let me be kingdom minded.
Also thank you for the blessings you are going to give me.

    “The Test”

7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah.

Where were the waters of Meribah and by definition what does Meribah mean?

    Smith’s Bible Dictionary
    Meribah
(strife, contention). In (Exodus 17:7) we read, “he called the name of the place Massah and Meribah,” where the people murmured and the rock was smitten. [For the situation see REPHIDIM] The name is also given to Kadesh, (Numbers 20:13,24; 27:14; 32:51) (Meribah-kadesh), because there also the people, when in want of water, strove with God.

So, apparently God sometimes allows a people to go through a dry season of testing to reveal their attitudes. When the dry times come do we get impatient? Do we quarrel and have strife? Are we passing or failing the test? These are the same testing waters where Moses smote the rock twice in anger. As leaders, we must not allow our frustration with the circumstances of life translate into acts of disobedience.

  8. 8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

Those two little letters make all the difference. IF
    If this, then I would…
    If that, then I would…

If is defined several ways. First, a conjunction: “in case that; granting or supposing that; on condition that”. Also a noun: “a condition, requirement, or stipulation”.

The Bible is full of conjunctions, conditions, requirements, and stipulations. The Lord knew what a lazy people we would be. I have found it is supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it. If it were free, there would be no value and it would not be worth fighting for. I heard it said once, “God gives every bird a worm, but he does not throw it into the nest.”

  9. ob.

5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

    Holy Ghost deliverance-
Thankyou for bringing me our of living in a sinful life…and now I know Jesus. Yes sometimes we make mistakes but theres and altar I can goto to find JESUS awaiting for me there.
Thankyou for bringing me out now I can tell others the great things He,Jesus has done.

Thankyou Jesus for bringin me out of Egypt ( sin, world).

  10. 15 The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

Lack of submission make you a “hater” of the Lord.

“Those who hate the LORD would pretend obedience to Him, And their time of punishment would be forever. NASB

Rejecting God as Lord or Master of our lives is as simple as rebelling against His Words. When you reject Him as Master you also reject Him as Savior, King, Healer, Provider, Way Maker, Truth, Love, Light and the list goes on and on. We serve one God and all these things make up who He is, so rejecting Him in anyway is rejecting the whole, full, and complete nature of God.

  11. The momentum of faith

    Psalms 81:6-7
    “Now I will take the load from your shoulders;
I will free your hands from their heavy tasks.
    You cried to me in trouble, and I saved you;
I answered out of the thundercloud
and tested your faith when there was no water at Meribah.
    Selah

I see this as a sign of the prophetic. The church has been in a storm but God is answering out of the thundercloud. Our faith has been tested, but once God spoke peace be still it was smooth sailing to the other side.

I’m praying this is what happens to us.

How do we get through the storm? Faith

When the storm hit the disciples Jesus was asleep in the boat. They woke him up. Instead of trusting in his word that they were going to the other side they trusted in their own fear and doubt.

    Mark 4:39-40
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

Had they just had faith this story would not be in the bible. His will wasn’t for them to see him rebuke the wind, but for them to speak “peace be still!”

He wanted them to exercise their faith!

Faith is the engine that will take this battleship to the new land. Faith is the momentum that pushes us into the miraculous! Faith will guide us and take us safely over!

    Habakkuk 2:3
For the vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:
    though it tarry, wait for it;
because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Mix our faith with his word, and the vision of the Pastor and we shall see it come to pass!

    Can I get an Amen?!

  12. That small voice

I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were freed from the basket. You called in distress and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! [Num. 20:3, 13, 24.] (Psalm 81:6, 7 AMP)

Why are we so quick to look for someone besides God? Why, when he constantly delivers us, do we look for other things? We give our time and energy to the things that keep us bound. We see others around us doing ungodly things and we join in.

If we keep reading we see that God takes his hands off and says, “ok, do what you want.” That is a terrible place to be. No guidance, no voice, no move of The Lord. JESUS help me to remove all the gods that I have put up in my life. I want to hear your voice, know you guidance, feel your presence. I will seek after you!

  13. 7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

Thank you Lord for heating me, for delivering me, for answering my prayers. You are truley my protector and my provider

  14. NEVER GIVE UP

13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

FAITH is the essence of eternity. Without FAITH it is impossible to please GOD. FAITH is TRUSTING GOD in spite of everything and everyone else. FAITH as we understand it through the bible is walking in places and going through situations that are not enjoyable. Often these conditions weary us ad tempt us to seek a less resistant path.

The message from the LORD today is NEVER GIVE UP! Hearken to the LORD, listen and obey, then walk in the path that HE has ordained for you.

Your PATH is a set up to defeat your foe. If we continue on the path VICTORY is found. WALK in his ways! The hand of the LORD will keep you. I pray reveals to us today how close we are to VICTORY. NEVER GIVE UP.

  15. 1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

  16. 5 This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

Joseph went through trouble and we tend to capitalize on it. But God ordained in Joseph his praise for a testimony.

We will all face trouble, it’s a guarantee of life. Our testimony doesn’t come from us dragging out of our trouble beaten and worn out from fighting with everything we have, but it comes from us lifting our voice to God, trusting in His help, and us following His will. God comes out on top and we come out victorious! So lift up the name of Jesus no matter what your going through today!

  17. 8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: DEUT 6:4

  18. 13 Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! (NLT)

Obedience, faith, and trust in The Lord!

  19. 13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

    Should

What a strong difference between should and shall. One being a suggestion ad the other an absolute.

We SHOULD all take note, and not only obey, but also enjoy His blessings because we obeyed.

  20. Sing Aloud 1. SING aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Ja’-cob. 2. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. 3. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our soleum feast day. 4. For this was a statute for Is’-ra-el, and a law of the God of Ja’-cob. 5. This he ordained in Jo’-seph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of E’-gypt: where I heard a language that I understood not. Ps. 114 : 1 I AM VICTORIOUS !!!!!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU JESUS!!!!!

  21. “So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels”. The Lord (Jesus) did not push then, and he will not push now. As such one should be prayerful, and heed the word of God and man of God, for one’s decision can be costly. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  22. 9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

We must be cautious. God is a jealous God. Time is valuable and we must be careful how we spend it. When it’s prayer time pray. When it’s time to read and study the word, read and study the word. If you’re going to listen to music while studying make it wholesome, Godly music. Good and evil waters cannot flow in and out of the same vessel. I’ve seen many people study the word while watching videos, listen to talk radio etc. As Pastor put it last week talking about 24 hours prayer chain, you are two timing God. If you’re going to study, devote that block of time to study. Don’t pollute it with carnal things.

God deserves our best and He is jealous if we are supposed to be praying, reading, studying, outreaching, whatever it is we are doing, if we have our minds on other things.

  23. 8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

    Can you hear?
Many times we all want to hear a Word from God. What do we do in certain situation? What does God want me to do? The truth is that the Lord is constantly speaking; it just may happen that we are not tuning in to hear Him. The Lord is trying to fill us, but will be hearken? There is always a word given to us by the man of God in our lives. How do we respond to that word. How do we respond to the commandments of God? How do we respond to what the Word of God tells us? Do we believe it or just let it fall to the side? I heard it in a preaching once; God may send a storm to your life to shake you up that you may put God first. Or, if you have already put God first, He may send a storm to show you something, His greatness…
When all chaos is going on, can you hear what God is trying to tell you? Maybe it is that you have left your first love and He is trying for you to wake up and revive yourself. Maybe He wants to show His creative power and strength.
The beginning of this chapter made me think of praise and worship, psalms and songs… Lets not forget the value of a pause “Selah” it is in there that we may understand what does saith the Lord.

  24. 11 “But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.”
12, “So I gave them up unto their own heart’s lust: and they walked in their own counsels.”
13, “Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!”
14, “I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand agaisnt their adversaries.”

This made me think of people who have come to church, have been prophecied over, and turning their back on what was said to them. Where are they now? Living in their own heart’s lust and walking in their own counsel. BACKSLIDEN.

My I always hear and hearken unto the Voice of God and His Word that is spoken into my life, whether it be through Pastor, a Minister, an Evangelist, or a Prophet. Because if I am obedient and hearken to the Voice of God and walk in the Ways of God, then He will subdue mine enemies for me and turn His hand against mine adversaries. He is the God of my Battles. I will put the enemy under my feet. I AM VICTORIOUS in JESUS CHRIST!!

  25. Psalm 81:7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah . Selah.

    God heard His people’s cry
    Exodus 2:23 -25
And it came to pass in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their
cry came up unto God by reason of the bondage. (see vv.24-25

  26. 10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Open your mouth and he will fill it….?

Open your mouth and praise him and he will fill you with his gift like no other. And he will fill you with blessings. 🙏👏

  27. Verse 1 CEV “Be happy and shout to God who makes us strong! Shout praises to the God of Jacob.” The Lord is my strength.

Verses 13-14 NLT “Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes!” Sometimes we ourselves with our disobedience (not listening to his commandments) tie the Lord’s hands from being able to bless us.

  28. Hear what the word of The Lord says. Listen to The men that he has places in your life. Know that God has spoken.

  29. 7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
    8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

For all that God has done for us, why is it too much to for us to serve him? His burden is easy & his yoke is light. It is our reasonable service to be holy unto him. Thank you for deliverance, help me hear you as you lead & guide me.

  30. 11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

In this chapter God is bemoaning the fact that HIS people Isreal would not hearten unto Him. many times God stretched out His hand in a effort to save His people and many times His people ignored Him. Even today people still turn their back on God and ignore His pleas… Lord don’t ever let me ignore the sweet sound of your voice in my life…

  31. What did I miss?

11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

You never know what could have been if you would just trust and obey God.

  32. 7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

    8 Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

God will answer us when we call into Him with a pure heart , but He also says that He wants up to hear what He has to say. When God speaks He wants us to obey!God will never lead us wrong. We don’t always need to be doing the talking if we will listen to the word that God sends for us, we would have a lot less trouble!!
God I want to be a listener and a doer of your Word so I can live a Victorious life!!!

  33. So I let them follow their own stubborn desires, living according to their own ideas. Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! (Psalms 81:12, 13 NLT)

When you love someone you would do everything in your power to help them, protect them and forgive them. God will always be there searching for us when we stray away. His love is so strong that even after we leave He continues to reach out. God, like any parent, wants to give us everything but by not abiding by His will for our lives He can’t do all that he wants for us. Let’s take the time to know what He wants. Listen to His voice

  34. Ordained Testimony

Selah.

V5 stands out as I think of an “ordained testimony.” Looking up that word, “testimony” implies more than just “witness” but goes deeper as like a law or precept. The testimony stands to establish something, not just as a witness but as the establishing of what it witnesses to. We can think of how God ordained different things in the Old Testament as He was establishing with man the Law and covenant relationship with Him, but what about today in our lives?

I think of the storms that go on, unexpected trials that hit us so hard, surprising losses, etc. What if that particular trial is not just simply a trial as we might think but is in fact ordained of God to establish a testimony in our personal walk with Him? What if passing this test means establishing relationship with God on a whole new level as we see Him for who He is in a deeper way?

And the thing about it is that there always seems to be a pattern that when God establishes something with man, He involves man personally somehow in the process. Noah built an ark and obeyed through the process of the flood, Abraham pursued fatherhood at the promise of God that a great chosen people would come of him, Moses went up the mountain to meet God and receive the Law, Joshua followed God’s specific instructions as he led Israel to fight and posses the promised land… It took willingness and obedience but man found the result to be a supernatural encounter with the Lord that would leave things changed.

We need not look at the storms of life and cower in anticipation of another big wave coming to rock our boat; rather we should see them as opportunities to partner with God in establishing who He is in our lives and as witness to those who would see. Our current dilemmas may be only the establishment of who God is here in Fort Worth. Who might be effected by our testimony? What could change because of our victory through our current battle? How might this region be transformed at the powerful witness of God in us not just through the easy times but through the trying as well? I venture to say our testimonies aren’t just fun stories but ordained testimonies as part of the ordained revival God has for this region, starting in us, His church, arising victorious and full of revival fire.

    Revelation 12:10-11
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

    Daniel 11:32
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

    Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    2 Corinthians 3:2-3
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

    Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

  35. 10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

He is the lord god that brought the people out of egypt and his name is jesus.

  36. YES!!!
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.
WE miss out on many blessings when we are disobedient and rebellious.
MY GOD IS AWESOME!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  37. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways! (Psalms 81:11-13 KJV)

Walking in Gods path or selfishness? Our God is a Good God. He know what we need and how to care for us. He is One we can put all our confidance and trust in. If we try to do things our own way it will lead to destruction.

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (Ephesians 2:1-3 KJV)

  38. 6 I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

7 Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

God always makes a way when there is no way. He wants us to obey his commands and to stay away from sin. Have faith in God always, he will bless you and your family in a mighty way. God has the power to deliver you from all your troubles. Praise him in advance.
