Psalm 82

1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

  1. 1. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

Because there is only one true God!

  2. 1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

Our God will always stand in the congregation of the mighty, he is looking for the mighty to be on his side. My God will even judge the other god’s because my God is the creator.
It does not matter what our status is in life, rich or poor, God will keep justice on our side. God keeps the fatherless or orphans and widows and will always judge righteously.
Jesus will take the sword to come out against our enemies.

  3. 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

OUR GOD IS COMING!!!! The signs are everywhere!!!! Children are killing their parents, parents are killing their children, and children are killing each other. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE. TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION, NOW IS THE TIME, HE IS COMING TO JUDGE US.

  4. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

Thankyou Jesus for letting me come to a place to worship you with everything I have with spirit and truth. What a blessing to know you,Jesus and Your people.
    I love You,Jesus.
    I am VICTORIOUS!!!!!!!

  6. Let us not forget!

Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. (Psalms 82:3, 4 KJV)

We have a responsibility in our city, in our church. Let us not forget where The Lord has brought us out of, and reach and minster to those who are lost and in need of a savior!
If we step back and see with our spiritual eyes being open, it’s then when we can see what The Lord is seeing in our world today.

    Our purpose….. SOULS……A. L. M.A.S

    • The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. (John 10:33-38 KJV)

  7. Psalms 82:2-4
How long will you [magistrates or judges] judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
Do justice to the weak (poor) and fatherless; maintain the rights of the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy; rescue them out of the hand of the wicked.

There is a story in the word that grants God’s perspective on our human class system. Though in this world there are those who live in luxurious mansions, and others who stay in run down shacks God sees no differences.

Each are men, and all will face the grave.

Showing partiality, and favoritism to the wealthy and influential grieves God.

On judgement day he will remind those who served the poor and treated them as royalty that it’s not really them but Him we are serving.

    Matthew 25:40
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

    Paul put it another way.

    Colossians 3:23
    And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

So should we treat poor better than rich? God forbid

Instead treat all men as you would treat Jesus. 🙂

  8. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
It is our responsibility to bring souls into the house of God where they can feel the need to be saved. Most people out in the world have never read the Bible or gone to church ,they have no idea of what living holy before The Lord means. It is our job to bring them in and let God fill them with the Holy Ghost and then with the Pastor’s teaching and watching how we live, and us encouraging them, they can make great workers in the kingdom of God, but we have to do our part to get them started
on the right path so they can be VICTORIOUS !!!!

  9. This Psalm made me think about our court systems today:

2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

It is important for us to read and listen to the news that is going on around us. The coming of the Lord is near! The justice system while needed, is pushing away from the Biblical principles this country was founded upon. It is accepting wickedness and judging unjustly.

Yet the Bible gives clear instruction to what this system is hear for…

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

This is their duty not to oppose onto the Kingdom of God what is acceptable and lawful. His Kingdom will not be understood and governed by the Nations of this world but we will stand and be judged by Him.

Let us take this scripture and pray over our judges and those that help to govern our nation. It is not time to speech ill of them but pray for them.

    Pray that they will:
    judge justly
    not accept wickedness for righteousness
    defend the poor and fatherless
give justice and deliver the poor needy
    Turn their hearts towards God

  10. O LORD MY GOD!!!
3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

MANY ARE WAITING ON US TO EXTEND A LOVING HAND!!! BUT NOT ONLY TO EXTEND A HAND BUT TO PULL THEM OUT , STAND AND WAR IN THE GAP, LOVE THEM LIKE THEY KNOW NOT!!!
HOW??? ONLY THROUGH JESUS!!! I PRAISE YOU JESUS!!! HE IS THE ONLY WAY, THE ONLY TRUTH, AND THE ONLY TRUE LIFE!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  11. “How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked?” They had become corrupt in their decisions, as they were not in alignment with Jesus (God). When decisions are not in alignment with the true Judge (Jesus), one will witness corruption; “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.” What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  12. What a wonderful day today is. What a wonderful day today is going to be! Woke up with this song on my heart:

AIN’T GOD GOOD TO GIVE US SO MANY BLESSINGS
    UNDESERVING, THAT’S WHAT WE ARE
WE OUGHT TO THANK HIM, LOVE AND PRAISE HIM
    A LITTLE MORE TODAY
AND A WHOLE LOT MORE TOMORROW

FOR FORTY LONG YEARS GOD’S PEOPLE JOURNEYED IN THE WILDERNESS
SEARCHING FOR CANAAN, THAT BLESSED PROMISED LAND
THEY NEVER WENT TOO HUNGRY NOR THEY NEVER GOT TOO THIRSTY
BUT THE MORE THAT GOD KEPT BLESSING THEM
    THE MORE THEY WOULD COMPLAIN

IN THE TIME THAT WE LIVE SO MANY ARE UNTHANKFUL
AND ANY MORE THEY FAIL TO SEE THAT GOD HAS GIVEN ALL
NEVER HAVING TIME FOR GOD THEY’RE ALWAYS BUSY WORKING
TO PAY FOR CARS, NEW HOMES, TVS’, AND CARPETS WALL TO WALL

AIN’T GOD GOOD TO GIVE US SO MANY BLESSINGS
    UNDESERVING, THAT’S WHAT WE ARE
WE OUGHT TO THANK HIM, LOVE AND PRAISE HIM
    A LITTLE MORE TODAY
AND A WHOLE LOT MORE TOMORROW

  13. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

It’s our job to bring lost souls from the streets and from this world to the house of God that they may recieve all The Lord has for them and they have the chance to turn their life around and live for Him.

  14. Psalm 82
    Unjust Judges
The Rebuke of Israel’s Unjust Judges

Psalm 82:8 Arise, O God, judge the earth : for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Rev.11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

  15. People that think their all high and mighty neglect to what’s really going on. Humble your self, stay alive, look.

  16. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

hallelujah God is for us, he is there when we are down and out, he always has our backs and he is always. Lord I pray that you would open up the understanding of those that are lost. Bring them to the revelation of truth. Have mercy on them Lord and bring them closer to you

  17. BE A WITNESS

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

One of the greatest challenges of discipleship is to BE A WITNESS. We often are presented with opportunities to tell others about JESUS and this is the beginning process to BE A WITNESS. However to tell someone and to BE for someone defines a contrast in responsibility.

For example I can tell you to pray about a situation and JESUS will hear you. (Tell)

    or

I can join hands and hearts with you and we can pray together about the situation and JESUS will answer. (BE)

It is one thing to TELL others about JESUS and it is the purpose of GOD to BE JESUS to others.

The psalmists identifies the heart of the LORD in the poor and the fatherless. To BE a witness means that we are a substitute for something. I can BE “Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, Encouragement, Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast, Friend”

The most important aspect is to be a BLESSING to be a WITNESS. To BE A WITNESS will often cost something; (Time, Talent, Treasure). Follow the Spirit.

The apostle James defined “Pure Religion”

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

    “VISIT them”

BE for or to them an EXAMPLE.

Lets BE A WITNESS to someone today.

  18. 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Judgment day is coming, will you be ready?
We all are being judged right now by people everywhere because of our beliefs but why worry about it because in the end what those people said doesn’t even matter only what God says matters.

  19. This song came to my mind reading this chapter. As long as we are doing what we are called to do God is gonna protect us and fight for us. Thank you Jesus!!

    God is fighting for us,
    God is on our side
    He has overcome,
    Yes He has overcome
    We will not be shaken,
    We will not be moved
    Jesus You are here
    [x2]

    Carrying our burdens,
    Covering our shame
    He has overcome,
    Yes He has overcome
    We will not be shaken,
    We will not be moved
    Jesus You are here

I will live, I will not die
    The resurrection power of Christ
Alive in me and I am free
    In Jesus’ Name

    Carrying our burdens,
    Covering our shame
    He has overcome,
    Yes He has overcome
    We will not be shaken,
    W will not be moved
    Jesus You are here

I will live, I will not die
    The resurrection power of Christ
Alive in me and I am free
    In Jesus’ Name
I will live, I will not die
I will declare and lift You high,
Christ revealed and I am healed
    In Jesus’ Name

    God is fighting for us,
    Pushing back the darkness
    Lighting up the Kingdom
    That cannot be shaken
    In the Name of Jesus,
    Enemy’s defeated
And we will shout it out,
    Shout it out
    [repeat]

I will live, I will not die
    The resurrection power of Christ
Alive in me and I am free
    In Jesus’ Name
I will live, I will not die
I will declare and lift You high,
Christ revealed and I am healed
In Jesus’ Name, in Jesus’ Name
In Jesus’ Name, in Jesus’ Name

  20. Ye are Gods 6. I have said, Ye are Gods; and all of you are children of the most High. 7. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. 8. Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations. I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS !!!!! You are worthy LORD!!!! Thank you LORD for Mercy and Grace !!!!

  21. Be Jesus

3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

When it comes to seeing a need, who catches our eye? Do we just see our same old friends and family? Or do we see the forgotten and outcast? Those unable to provide for themselves in their need? Those who do not know what to do?

If it was all just natural and easy to care for those who we must go out of our way and out of our comfort zone for, I don’t believe the Lord would have felt it necessary to tell us to do so. And it’s not that we lack compassion for these, sometimes we just get so caught up in life and taking care of other things that we simply forget. But we are called to remember, and to go, and to reach those in need.

The Lord declared of His mission, which has become ours:

    Luke 4:18-19
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

We each are responsible to be full-time Christians as we lead our full-time lives; our schedule does not mean we can put being a Christian on hold until it is convenient. If we walk ready at all times, we will find there are opportunities all around to be Jesus to others. And if we walk willing and sensitive to Him, we will find Jesus provides for us (His Spirit upon us, anointing) to empower us to do His will concerning the needs we see.

    Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

  22. They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. (Psalms 82:5 KJV)

It’s a sad condition to be in when someone is ever learning yet never able to come the knowledge of truth.  But many of our guest come to church or hungry for the word and can not receive understanding because of spiritual blindness.

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. (1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT)

This is why daily and prayer before service is so important. Prayer is not only a time to ask Our Father to meet our needs but to stand in the gap for lost humanity. We must pray for Our Father to open their understanding to receive the Word for the seed to be planted in their hearts. They are counting on us. Do you see them? do you hear them? Tap into the spiritual realm and hear their cries for help and see the face filled with pain and agony.

I must decrease and He must increase!
Not my will but thine be done!

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. (Luke 24:45 NLT)

  23. 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

Knowing how much I try to do for my children, and how much I want to do good for them, when I compare it to how much good Jesus wants to do for me, and how much He des do for me, I stand in awe about His grace and mercies…

  24. 3, “Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.”
4, “Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.”
5, “They know not, neither will they understand: they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.”

These scriptures made me think of the t-shirts that were made for us a few years ago to wear on outreach. They said, “Beatin The Steets & Shakin The Trees – Luke 14:23, “… Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in…” All of Luke 14:23 says, “And the Lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

The time is NOW to go out and “Beat the Streets & Shake the Trees.” The time is NOW to go out into the higways and hedges and reach those who are walking around in darkness. The time is NOW to reachout to the poor, fatherless, afflicted, and needy, and deliver and pull them out of the hand of the enemy, and compel them to come to the house of God with us. One, so that God’s house may be filled, and Two, so that they can come out of darkness and into His Marvelous Light.

    So Let’s GO!!

  25. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

    “Amen”………………………………………………………………………..

  26. vss . 3-4 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

When we reach out in love to a in need we truly see God in action.
    GOD IS LOVE.

    JESUS is our example:
John13:15. For I have given you as example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

In do so we fulfill GOD’S highest law. Serving others without expecting anything in return.

Another example that we be our prayer is to think as HE THINKS .

Phil.2:5-8 Let this mind be in you which was also in CHRIST JESUS:…..” ”
But made himself of no reputation , and took upon him the form of a servant……
“. “He humbled himself and became obedient unto death even the death of the cross.

Since GOD humbled HIMSELF, we could
NEVER justify clinging to our own pride .
We must swallow our pride like “Peter
and say. LORD not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.” John 13:9

I am very thankful and so grateful for everyone that serves at the POFW
For every home bible study and every Sunday school teacher for serving perhaps neglected children living in filthy crime infested housing . It does not get more
” REAL” than that . They entered the real world serving these children gladly with a since love and compassion .
Just a hug , a smile, a i love you makes the difference in these children ‘s lives.
This is what sets us apart.
John 13: 35 Bt this shall men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.

To serve wherever GOD’S touch is needed, and to introduce them to our
GREAT GOD JESUS who is the sorce of everything .

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iRejoice

  27. Could we say that our justice system is fair,or that it has no flaws in it. No we can’t. Although it was based on biblical principals, because man put his hands in it. It is corrupt. Now in Gods justice system we now have grace. All of us do. But what do we do with that grace? For some they blow it and “live it up.” But for those of us who see the true aspect of it,we are greatful to have the opportunity to change our lives. Without God we have nothing, we are nothing. But in Him we live, move ,and have are being.

  28. 1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

Being a child of the most high God makes us mighty …as long as we are under his authority- as Bro Godwin preached tonight. God is our strength, our shield & buckler & our sword. He is omnipotent! He is Creator and all power is his-no god of this world can stand against him. He will judge the great & the small. Hallelujah!

  29. The caption for this chapter in the CEV reads “Please Do Something, God!” This reminded me of a song on the radio that says:

    I woke up this morning
Saw a world full of trouble now
Thought, how’d we ever get so far down
How’s it ever gonna turn around
So I turned my eyes to Heaven
I thought, “God, why don’t You do something?”
Well, I just couldn’t bear the thought of
    People living in poverty
    Children sold into slavery
    The thought disgusted me
So, I shook my fist at Heaven
Said, “God, why don’t You do something?”
He said, “I did, I created you”
    If not us, then who
    If not me and you
Right now, it’s time for us to do something
    If not now, then when
    Will we see an end
    To all this pain
It’s not enough to do nothing
It’s time for us to do something
    I’m so tired of talking
About how we are God’s hands and feet
But it’s easier to say than to be
Live like angels of apathy who tell ourselves
It’s alright, “somebody else will do something”
Well, I don’t know about you
But I’m sick and tired of life with no desire
    I don’t want a flame, I want a fire
I wanna be the one who stands up and says,
    “I’m gonna do something”
We are the salt of the earth
We are a city on a hill
But we’re never gonna change the world
    By standing still
    No we won’t stand still
    No we won’t stand still
    No we won’t stand still

  30. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

This is our calling POFW – Many years ago we started following the principles if we will reach out to those that nobody wants, God will send us people that everybody wants. God has done that time and time again. We must continue on our mission to reach those that are hurting. We cannot judge them in their sins, for we are just sinners saved by grace ourselves. We must see them through the eyes of the Lord!

  31. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
Thankful for Gods mercy! God will deliver the poor and the needy, the just and unjust! GOD is not respector of persons!!

  32. The sons of God

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

    Romans 8:

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.

  33. God calls the judges into his courtroom, he puts all the judges in the dock. “Enough! You’ve corrupted justice long enough, you’ve let the wicked get away with murder. You’re here to defend the defenseless, to make sure that underdogs get a fair break; Your job is to stand up for the powerless, and prosecute all those who exploit them.”
Ignorant judges! Head-in-the-sand judges! They haven’t a clue to what’s going on. And now everything’s falling apart, the world’s coming unglued. (Psalm 82:1-5 MSG)

Wow, the message version really just kinda slaps you in the face with some reality. As a child I though more like this meant judicial judges, but I have a different take on it now. Maybe it’s like anyone who is put in a place of a seer of right and wrong. Parents, bosses, and elders in church could all be somewhat judicial. Even me in my very minuscule judicial tasks could be used here. What would it be like if God called you in to a privte meeting where you were told your weaknesses? TERRIBLE! JESUS help us to see things through your eyes.

  34. 1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

Just and righteous, qualities we expect out of every judge. Who can be like our God? He is good and merciful. Not that He takes long to bring judgement but He is merciful and long suffering and loving. Everyone is given a space, a time to repent. The mighty men only reflect His good qualities. He alone is great and mighty in power and judges among nations and their gods. We as the church must reflect more of Him and stand for righteousness, defending the needy and the fatherless. Our good acts and Christlikeness can shine forth the light like judgement and cause men to turn away from their evil ways.

  35. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

God doesn’t like ugly, nobody leaves this world without his judgment. We are to love everybody and reach out to those in need, to be fair to the poor, defend the helpless, thank you God almighty for your word. Lead me to those who you desire me to reach out to, I seek you.

  36. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

We can’t act like those who are blinded by the sin of this world. We are here to teach and aid others to see Christ so he may remove the scales from their eyes.

Don’t act like the blind, act like Christ! We are the light of this world
