Psalm 84

1 How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!

2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.

9 Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.

10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

  2. v2 my soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for thy courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

It’s a place where the Spirit Of GOD meets HIS people. That’s exciting just think
The Creator of the universe lives within us.

No one force HIM to dwell in us, but HE chose this relationship before the foundation of the world !
    Praise The LORD !!!
HIS SPIRIT strengthens and encourage us to live in a way that also encocourages others, and provides the POWER to live a victorious life in an evil world.

It is our privilege to sit together in heavenly places in CHRIST JESUS on Holy ground.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iRejoice

iAm Victorious through CHRIST JESUS !

  3. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Any job I do for my God is better than the world. Any time I spend with my God is better than the world. My God is righteous and will judge accordingly. I will always prefer to be with God than to be in the world.

  4. A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in you. (Psalms 84:10-12 NLT)
    Yes Lord!!!

  5. 11. For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

He gives us light and warmth in this cold, dark world and protects us from the fiery darts of the wicked. He gives us grace because we are not perfect and glory because we are a reflection of Him. He loves us and doesn’t withhold what is good for us from us if we walk in His ways.

I am reminded of the song…
But Thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head
Thou, oh Lord are a shield for me
My glory and the lifter of my head

  6. Verses 10-12 AMP “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving]!” No place I’d rather be Lord. It takes a commitment of ALL, not a piece, not moment; but ALL.

  7. A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. (Psalms 84:10 NLT)

God there is nothing better then you! No place in heaven and earth that I’ll rather be then in your presence. I wanna feel your power and grace and show you off to the world and tell them the good news! Hallelujah!

Psalms 84:11 KJV For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

“No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly”

Health and Healing are “good things” that come from God. This is yet another scripture that people can stand on that are believing for a miracle. According to this scripture, God is not going to hold it back. Many times we think and say that we are waiting on God…however, God transcends time and the majority of the time He is waiting on us… waiting for us to walk uprightly.

  8. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

How great is the time God gives us to use, I am thankful that God has given us a chance to live for him. One day in his courts are awesome with him and as this says better than a thousand outside those courts. We should esteem our time with God as A time to express our feelings toward God.
A doorkeeper in the house of God is more to be desired than living in wickedness. God let me do something, even if it is just a doorkeeper in the house of God. We should be looking for something to do in the House of God.

  10. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Even the jobs we think to be nothing are better with God than the presence of wickedness. In the kingdom of God, every job is important, no matter how small or big we think it to be. When I walk into a Wal-mart and get greeted by an associate at the door, it makes my shopping experience better. It may not be a labor intensive job, but it’s a job that makes the customer feel a little better. The church has to view even every opportunity in the church as something that is needed for the kingdom of God. You never know how many guests actually return because they were greeted by someone when they first walked through the church doors. We serve a welcoming God, so it’s just right for him to have a welcoming church.

  11. 2 I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God. (NLT)

Lord I hunger for you, with all that I am will I praise and give you glory!

  12. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

You can really see the Psalmist attitude towards wickedness. He compares the dwelling place of God to “the house” and the dwelling place of the wicked “the tents.” The house representing a place of stability, strength, and security yet a tent is moveable it’s not grounded. It would be tossed to and fro in the wind. There is no security or strength to a tent but when we dwell in the house of God it does not matter what our position is we all have the same pleasures.

  13. 3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

Just as you see the sparrow you see me, you see where I belong. I belong with you Jesus, in your presence is where I wanna be. Forever singing your praises

  14. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

In order to be considered to be walking up rightly, we must not only behave properly and get along well with others, but we must also be good stewards. If you remember the steward that hid his talent, he was I pleasing and lost what he had.

He wants to bless us, but we must become good stewards first.

  15. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Lord I would rather spend one day with you than a thousand somewhere else!

  16. A single day spent in your temple is better than a thousand anywhere else. I would rather be a doorman of the tempte of my God than live in palaces of wickedness. Any job that we do in the kingdom is very important. I rather do any type of job for God than being in the palaces of wickedness

  17. “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Once one truly realizes that true love, peace, joy and happiness come from Jesus (God), and aligns self with the word of God and heeds the man of God, one will be blessed; “Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee”. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  18. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

It don’t matter what you do in the church….because I rather work in the church then being in the world and the wickedness of it.

  19. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Just one day with God is greater than a thousand without. There is no place I’d rather be.

When I think of a doorkeeper or gate keeper I think of movies and books that have portrayed a man as being solely responsible for the opening and closing of the gate. He lived close by and he answered knocks at all hours of the day. It always seemed like an isolated job. So when I read this verse my first thought is id rather be alone or stand alone in my beliefs, love for God, and choosing to live for God than dwell with the wicked for the sake of company. Living for God isn’t usually the popular choice and can sometimes feel lonely but it’s better to stand alone than corrupt yourself for friendship. If they aren’t helping you get to heaven then they aren’t very good friends anyway.

    1 Corinthians 15:33
33 Be not deceived:evil communications corrupt good manners.

  20. STAY HOME

4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

For years people have fallen for the lie that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. People think that if they can get some freedom from accountability and make their own decisions, that their life would be better.

This verse clarifies that we are BLESSED when we stay HOME and always keep a PRAISE on our lips.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  21. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.

No place Like home.. Can we really make it on our own without the help of anyone? We may first think that until the tents get blown away by the storm. The church is where we build that the relationship with The Lord where He will make us up walk uprightly and then bless us. There is no real joy outside of God. Home is where we get our needs met. It is where we find love, provision and protection. And the best of all the presence of God. There’s nothing that can compare. Nothing in this world will bless one more that funding yourself in the presence of the one that makes us whole

  22. Walk Victorious

    Psalm 84:5-7 NLT
5 What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

6 When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs. The autumn rains will clothe it with blessings.

7 They will continue to grow stronger, and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem.

    Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

When we are traveling this journey of faith, we must ask ourselves, what is my destination? Is my destination simply the next event, the next thing on the calendar, or is it something deeper? Simply being at the church house is a great step but the building won’t save us, the services and meetings alone won’t save us, but walking in restored relationship with God will set our feet heaven-bound. This Psalm speaks of coming to the house of God at Jerusalem but I see it as being applicable to our daily walk with God; our daily pilgrimage towards Him that carries us in our journey beyond a natural temple and onwards to eternal communion with God in heaven. From that daily walk with a made up mind, we find growing strength and provision, we find even the ugly things in life working for our good, and we find victory to be ours. Walking victorious did not begin after reaching the destination, rather they reached the destination because they were victorious through the journey.

  23. Oh LORD God 8. O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Ja’-cob. Se’-lah. 9. Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. 10. For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11. For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12.O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS !!!!! I Sing Glory to your name !!!! I Sing praises to your name !!!! Your name is Holy !!!!! Thank you JESUS for another day on this earth !!!!!!

  24. The temple of God.

    Psalms 84:1
    PSALM 84
    Longing for the Temple Worship.
For the choir director; on the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.
How lovely are Your dwelling places,
    O Lord of hosts!

How lucky we have it today. We are the dwelling place bc we are the temple of God. They longed for what we can experience anytime of the day. In a society of perverted religion, the world does not understand the privilege we have with Jesus Christ. The old covenant didn’t get to experience God the way we get to.

  25. 2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

David speaks of his desperate desire to be in the house of the Lord. He is “faint” in his spirit, and needs a refreshing, revival from the Lord. Alot of the Psalms show David’s need and dependence of God. David prays to God for vengence, protection, and strength. His example is one we should learn from. Instead of dreading church, he recognizes how much more he needs God’s presence in the midst of his life storm. Instead of drawing back from the Lord in the hard times, he is longing for and crying out to the only living God who can deliver him.

  26. 10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere;I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
I will praise you Lord in everything I do for your kingdom!:)

  27. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
No job is too small to help in the church. That is why i truly enjoy attendance taking i get to talk to people and meet the new ones. I want to do what the Lord wants me to do and when we are doing what we are suppose to be doing we will be blessed.

  28. 12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Trust. That’s a hard word to come by these days. Not too many people trust. This is why we must teach how to trust by being examples. We must trust God to do what he needs to in our lives. If we don’t trust the almighty then why should we trust a total stranger? We often will trust strangers more than our own brothers and sisters in Christ. We must change this. We must be examples of how to live a Godly life.

  29. The Joy of Dwelling with God

Psalm 84:10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand . I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

  30. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

The Lord God gives life (is a sun) & protects (is a shield) and gives grace. He will not withhold any good thing…but the condition of walking uprightly must be met by us. What a blessing ee have kn living for him!

  31. 10, “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

I read this chapter early this morning. It made me have a song in my heart all day. It is called “Better is One Day” by Matt Redman.

How lovely is Your dwelling place
    Oh Lord Almighty
    For my soul longs
    And even faints for You

For here my heart is satisfied
    Within Your presence
    I see beneath
    The shadow of Your wings

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
    Than a thousand elsewhere

One thing I ask, and I would seek-
    To see Your beauty
    To find You in
    The place Your Glory dwells

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
    Than a thousand elsewhere

My heart and flesh cry out for You
    The Living God
Your Spirit’s water to my soul

    I’ve tasted and I’ve seen
    Come again to me
I will draw near to You
I will draw near to You

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
    Than a thousand elsewhere
    Than a thousand elsewhere

  32. Vs 10 being with the Lord is better than with the world. Our “worst” day with Jesus is far better than our best day in the world because we have power and salvation.

  33. I pray to the sky

    Psalms 84:4
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house:
they will be still praising thee. Selah.

    1 Corinthians 10:26
26 For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

    Isaiah 66:1
    Chapter 66
    1 Thus saith the Lord,
The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:
where is the house that ye build unto me?
and where is the place of my rest?

    Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

    Isaiah 6:3
3 And one cried unto another, and said,
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts:
the whole earth is full of his glory.

I have been driving across the Fort Worth metroplex and find myself talking to God staring up in the sky. The vastness is overwhelming. The various shades, and hews are mesmerizing. Each cloud is shaped perfectly, and the horizon looks like a giant canvas of a skilled artist.

When I look up and pray I am filled with faith. What is possible down here to a God who created all up there?

    Luke 21:28
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

  34. 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Even in the ark everyone realized the stink of the ark was better than the death that waited outside. Let us be grateful for every day that he affords us to be with him.

  35. My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord : my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

When you start saying this to yourself you know that you really desire The Lord and his will for your life.

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (Psalms 84:2, 10 KJV)

A door keep verses a tent dweller.
Doorkeepers are watchers. They look after things that don’t belong to them and they serve others. Sometimes it’s even people they don’t know. It’s better to seve than to live putside of The Lord.
