Psalm 85

1  Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

  1. 13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

I really like the word Righteousness in this verse because it say it shall go before him and say it shall set us in the way of his steps.

  2. 12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

Every good thing comes from God above. We need to learn that we do not make anything happen, that God has control of all, we get good things because He allows it to be that way. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens without God mighty and loving approval.

  3. Love and Truth meet in the street, Right Living and Whole Living embrace and kiss! Truth sprouts green from the ground, Right Living pours down from the skies! Oh yes! GOD gives Goodness and Beauty; our land responds with Bounty and Blessing. Right Living strides out before him, and clears a path for his passage. (Psalm 85:10-13 MSG)

This is my prayer right here! GLORY TO GOD, it begins in and with us the body. POFW IS seeing revival NOW, and we shall continue to see miricales, signs and wonders. Because of obedience to HIS word!

  4. Bringing back the backslider

1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

Jer 3:14 Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:

God has a heart for the backslider. We see this illustration in the prodigal son. He is holding onto his children even when they don’t want to be held onto. The man of God said there is a revival at POFW to the backslider. It raid alot this week and I was thinking all week, “What is the deal with all of this rain.” Then Pastor talked about the spiritual rain to fall soon after. I am looking forward to the great things that are about to happen.

    The Awesome Forgiveness of God.

Psalms 85:1 KJV To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

To understand the forgiveness of God, we have to realize that this Psalm was written to and for the sons of Korah. A quick recap about who Korah was is copied from an article and posted as follows:

The story of the rebellion of Korah is recorded in Numbers 16. The rebellion of Korah demonstrates the grim consequences of usurping the authority of God and of those whom He has chosen to be leaders of His people.

Korah was the oldest son of Izhar, who was the son of Kothath of the tribe of Levi. Korah, then, was of the same tribe as Moses and Aaron. He led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron, accusing them of exalting themselves above the congregation of the Lord (Numbers 16:1-3). Korah was not alone in his charge. He gathered 250 other men to challenge Moses’ authority as well: “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?” (Numbers 16:3). Obviously, Korah thought that he could do a better job leading the people than Moses was doing. But by leading this revolt against God’s divinely appointed leaders, Korah was actually revolting against God (Numbers 16:11). Moses proposed a test to prove the source of his authority. Korah and his followers did not pass the test, and God opened up the earth and swallowed the rebels, their families, and all their possessions. Furthermore, “fire came out from the LORD” and consumed the other 250 men who were party to Korah’s rebellion. The rest of the Israelites were terrified and fled (Numbers 16:31-35

This Psalm in today’s blog was written to the sons of Korah. We have an awesome God who is full of forgiveness!

2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

  6. 13/ Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

    Following Jesus….

What a traight to have righteousness!!!
When I have righteousness I can be a true witness and follower of Christ.
Thank you Jesus for the blood.
You make me want to do right and want to have righteousness because You,Jesus have the way to righteousness. You,Jesus are HOLY,HOLY,HOLY.
My whole goal in life is to change old habits, old attitudes, old ways of thinking…and find out what Jesus wants me to do for Him and for others. But first…Love the Lord with all your mind and heart and love your neighbor as you love yourself…I thankyou Jesus for revealing this to me today this is my whole goal is to love. 1 Corinthians 13.

  7. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

I want to have the attitude that I will hear what God will speak to his people. These scriptures let us know that if we want mercy we must fear God, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
We need mercy , truth, righteousness and peace to be in our lives if we want to progress in our walk with God. Progress is what I am looking for, we need to not just sit still, but to move forward with God.
WE will not sit still we will be moving forward or backwards. Backwards means backsliding and we do not need to back slide!
    GOD BLESS POFW

  8. 11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

We shall pass the truth to others that the world knows he is one God and he died on the cross. And the heavens will look down on us and be happy.

  9. A Prayer for Revival

Psalm 85:12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

  10. Psalms 85:10
Unfailing love and truth have met together.
    Righteousness and peace have kissed!

When judgement was deserved God extended mercy. When truth required sacrifice God gave substitution. When righteousness demanded perfection God implemented sanctification. When doubt, worry, and fear tried to hold us back from our destiny God granted peace.

Every word spoken by God, every promise in his word, is accessible to us today.

    2 Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

He says I have given you everything you need now, or will ever need. Walk with me and I’ll show you the way to life everlasting.

  11. Yes, the LORD pours down his blessings. Our land will yield its bountiful harvest. Righteousness goes as a herald before him, preparing the way for his steps. (Psalms 85:12, 13 NLT)

God let it rain!! Let the harvest come in easily let me receive it easily. I wanna prepare for your blessings and the righteousness of you kingdom. I want to be weak In your presence. God let your blessings rain. Thank you for everything. I receive your blessings with an open heart. I love you! I want more of you. I feel you

  12. REVIVAL NOW

6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

Revival restores the joy of salvation for those who have lost it. Revival is bringing life back to something, giving life to something that has lost it. Revival brings the FIRE of the Holy Ghost back into the church, which in turn creates opportunity for the LORD to show sinners about HIS great passion for humanity.

Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

It is the Mercy of the LORD that allows us to LIVE and move and have our being. Let this be our cry unto the LORD. REVIVE us NOW LORD.

  13. I have been staying at the hospital with my dad he fell and had a bad break in his hip. Since Wednesday I have stayed many hours here someone is needed since his mind is not there. Praise God for being able to have time to meditate ang get into the word. It is bringing me great comfort. PRAISE GOD!

  14. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

God is always speaking, will we choose to hear him today?

    Revelation 2:29
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

God is talking to us but it’s up to us to listen to what he is saying. He will show us his ways and will give direction. He speaks peace to storms and blessings to his children. God loves to give good gifts to his children, but we should be careful not to take the blessings and forget who gave them to us. It’s foolish to turn back to sin when God has blessed us.

  15. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

    Speak to me Lord.

  16. 1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

We are a blessed church. Thank you Jesus for those who have come before us and prepared the land. For it is now harvest time

  17. The Lord’s Planting

8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

    Isaiah 61:1-3
    1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

    2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

The will of God is restoration: restoration of relationship with Him and restoration in any other way to return us as His creation to His intent for us that brings Him glory. That process of restoration brings about wholeness in the life of the believer on different levels and the effect is the revelation of us as His planting. The life that comes out from restoration is to be one of righteousness and good fruit. Our life begins to produce a harvest that brings glory to God as a result of being fruitful as His planting and shows the root of what He has done in our lives. But the harvest depends on us and what we will do with the seed God gives.

  18. I will listen to what God the Lord says.
For he will make peace with his people, his faithful followers. Yet they must not return to their foolish ways. -Psalms 85:8

  19. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

God has protected his people from their enemies and now he speaks peace to them. David admonishes them not to return to their mischief or they’ll be right back in the hard place they just were!

  20. v13 R ighteousness shall go before him ; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

HIS ways are higher than ours and in many ways beyond human understanding .

  21. 2 Chron 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  22. 2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease

The people are begging for mercy here from God’s holy anger. It is a scary place to be the object of God’s anger , they beg for forgiveness and pray that his anger well cease. As the scripture says ” it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a angry God”

  23. “I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.” One that will listen, will hear and will be blessed. Whereas one that will not will listen, will not, until they do. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  24. 4. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

When God is angry with us, He isn’t the one who needs to change – we are the problem, not Him. Turn ME, O God!

  25. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

The stupid devil is trying his best to take our peace. We have to stand still in the storm and know that God is with us. We can learn from the storm or be torn by it. I pray that God will instruct us in the storm while speaking peace. Hear what God is saying to the church.

  26. Turn Us 1. Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease. Ps. 80 : 7 5. Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? Ps. 74 : 1 6. Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? 7. Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation. I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST !!!! I PRAISE YOU JESUS !!!! HALLELUJAH !!!!

  27. 8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
Never really thought of this before–
It says God will speak peace to his people…
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. (Luke 10:1-6 KJV)”
    It was JESUS talking.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6 KJV)

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:14 KJV)

  28. 1 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

The Lord’s love is incomparable that even when we are the farthest His forgiveness is one repentance away. He can turn back the captivity, just because of His great love towards us. Sometimes all people need to know is God still loves you. Come back home. No matter what you have done He still loves you. Repent, turn away from sin and back to God and with His arms open He will run to meet you.

  29. Verses 8-9 AMP ” I will listen [with expectancy] to what God the Lord will say, for He will speak peace to His people, to His saints (those who are in right standing with Him)—but let them not turn again to [self-confident] folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, [and is ready to be appropriated] that [the manifest presence of God, His] glory may tabernacle and abide in our land.”

Same verses MSG “I can’t wait to hear what he’ll say. God’s about to pronounce his people well, The holy people he loves so much, so they’ll never again live like fools. See how close his salvation is to those who fear him? Our country is home base for Glory!” Homebound for Glory!

Verse 10 CEV “Love and loyalty will come together; goodness and peace will unite.” If you love something, you will then more than likely be loyal to IT. They go together like goodness and peace.

  30. 1 Lord, You have [at last] been favorable and have dealt graciously with Your land [of Canaan]; You have brought back [from Babylon] the captives of Jacob.

There are many who have become captive of Babylon – this carnal world. They are caught up in living for themselves, bigger houses, better cars, more this, more that…. pleasing the flesh. There is coming a time when the prayers of the saints will be answered and God will shine favor upon the request for those to return back to truth.

Keep praying the prayers for the backsliders. Keep speaking into their lives the words of life through the power of power.
