Psalm 99

1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.

3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

4 The king’s strength also loveth judgment; thou dost establish equity, thou executest judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.

7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

8 Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

  1. forgavest….

    What a wonderful JESUS.
I’m forgiven so I am going to forgive others in the precious blood of the Lamb.

  2. 1 The Lord reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.
2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

There are some great truths here I cannot over look. Where is The Lord sitting? On the mercy seat between the cherubims, which is place over the ark of the covenant and carried by the priests. Leading the children of Israeli as they made their way from Egypt to the promised land.
The Lord is high above all his people, if we could develop the attitude of how great our God is and how low and humble we are. Then and only then could we see God in the light as he wants us to see him, high and lifted up. We must lift him up, Jesus said if I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me. What better place to start than the church, the people of his name began to lift him up in praise and worship.

5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

Let us take our place at his footstool and exalt him and worship him as with began to allow our spirits to melt away and allow The Spirit of The God of Heaven ( The Holy Ghost) to flow over us with great power as we worship The Creator of all things.

THE LORD IS HIGH ABOVE ALL!!!!!

9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

There is no greater way to exalt our God than to worship him at his holy hill!
Our God is a Holy God, which this chapter tells us 3 times how he is Holy.
We should always remember how Holy our God is and see why he wants us to be Holy.
Worship and praise him in his Holiness!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. iLove to eat the Word

    “Fear God…For Real”

Psalm 99:3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

I’ve heard it said that the fear of the Lord is only “respect” and not fear as we know it, however, this definition of the word “terrible” implies that not only should we respect him but that we should also fear Him.
    ירא
    yârê’
    yaw-ray’
A primitive root; to fear; morally to revere; causatively to frighten: – affright, be (make) afraid, dread (-ful), (put in) fear (-ful, -fully, -ing). (be had in) reverence (-end), X see, terrible (act, -ness, thing).

Luke 12:5, ” But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill people and then throw them into hell.

Acts 5:10-11 KJV Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. (11) And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

  4. Let them praise your great and awesome name. Your name is holy! Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established fairness. You have acted with justice and righteousness throughout Israel. Exalt the LORD our God! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy! (‭Psalms‬ ‭99‬:‭3-5‬ NLT)

  5. 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

Three times the mention of God being holy in this chapter. This should make us think of our holiness standards in which we live our lives. Now days to society it may not be a big deal or of importance at all but to God it is a big deal. We are to be holy like he is holy, to live our lives set apart from the sin system that this world lives in. What a good way to please, praise and worship a Holy God than to take on his image and be like Him. We we are young kids we all look up and want to be like daddy, or a father figure in our lives… To be like our Heavenly Father we must start acting, sounding and dressing like Him; dressing ourselves in righteous living and leaven garments of sin and flesh behind.

Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

  6. OBEDIENCE, THE KEY TO THE VOICE OF GOD

6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name; they called upon the Lord, and he answered them.
7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

The psalmist references the patriarchs of FAITH Moses, Aaron and Samuel. I noticed the sequence of their relationship with GOD.

    1. They called upon the LORD – The FIRST step in following GOD is to PRAY. Call on the HOLY ONE, identify our frailties, shortcomings and weaknesses.

    2. They LISTENED as HE ANSWERED them – How many times have we missed GOD because we didn’t want to hear what he said? Too often prayer is telling GOD what is wrong instead of us seeking GOD for HIS direction.

    3. They OBEYED what HE said to them – They kept or remained FAITHFUL to not only the VOICE of GOD, but they kept the SETTLED WORD of GOD (BIBLE as we know it).

The process to hearing GOD is

    CALL upon the LORD
LISTEN for and to HIS VOICE
    OBEY what HE speaks.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iCall
    iListen
    iObey
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

You are holy Lord! I worship and exalt You my God and my King!

  8. Verses 6-7 CEV “Moses and Aaron were two of your priests. Samuel was also one of those who prayed in your name, and you, our Lord, answered their prayers. You spoke to them from a thick cloud, and they obeyed your laws.”

Same verses NIV “Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the Lord and he answered them. He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.”

These men (Moses, Aaron, Samuel) called upon the Lord and he answered them; but, they also had to do their part……obey his laws, keep his statutes and decrees that God had given them. It was key (obey, keep and do) back then and it is key NOW.

  9. 8 Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

Your mercy truly endures forever Lord I praise you and thank you for all of your goodness because you forgave me, you delivered me, you redeemed me

  10. 7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

Obey the Lord and keep His testimonies. Sing praises unto His name!

  11. In the hall of the mountain king

    Psalms 99:9
    Exalt the Lord our God,
    and worship at his holy hill;
for the Lord our God is holy.

It was on the mountain God provided the lamb for Abraham instead of his son Isaac. It was on the mountain that tables of stone containing ten laws of God were passed down written with the finger of God. It was on the mountain where time and history were revealed in the glory of God. It was on the mountain that the still small voice was uttered to a weary prophet. On the mountain Jesus Christ died on the cross to rise three days later. And on the mountain he will return to establish the millennial reign.

It is on the mountain he wants to commune with us.

    Psalms 24:3-5 AMP
Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

    LETS GO TO THE MOUNTAIN

  12. NLT 8 O Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them,
but you punished them when they went wrong.

The Lord forgives and disciplines his people as needed. Let us be obedient to our God at all times.

  13. 6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests Samuel also called on his name.
They cried to the Lord for help, and he answered them.
Even when someone has done you wrong Lord you helped and answered to their calling!Thank you Lord for helping me and being there when I call out to you!!:)

  14. Established

    Psalm 99:4-5 AMP
4 The strength of the king who loves righteousness and equity You establish in uprightness; You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob (Israel.)

5 Extol the Lord our God and worship at His footstool! Holy is He!

    Proverbs 12:3
A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

We are established in righteous living. But when we move off the righteous foundation of Christ, we act in wickedness and cannot have the solid rock foundation we need to make it through the storms of life. The things which we once simply walked through victoriously can become a life-mangling struggle. But when we stand on God’s righteousness, we are established in Christ in such a way we can only be removed if we choose to remove ourselves: no storm or trial, no person or demon, no famine, no sickness, no persecution, no hardship, no loss… nothing but ourselves.

    Luke 6:47-49
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

    Romans 8:33-39
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  15. 2 The Lord is great in Zion; and he is high above all the people.
3 Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.

Our position should be to bow before God with a humble attitude. He is Creator and Savior. His word is powerful & sharper than a two-edged sword. My worship should lift him up and create an atmosphere of respect & expectancy. Knowing who I am-that I am nothing without him-keeps the correct perspective.

  16. v6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his name: they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

As Moses ,Aaron and Samuel I also want to be among them that called on the name of
    The LORD.

We too, can stand in the door of the tent and talk to GOD. As we learn to discern HIS
PRESENCE, and hear the small voice.

Our spirits will be renewed to complete the work GOD has given each of us to do.
    As the song goes …….
“YOUR Presence Is Heaven To Me”

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iRejoice

  17. 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

He’s a mighty God. Powerful and Holy God. We serve a jealous God. He wants us to worship him with all of our hearts. The song To Worship You,comes to mind. This song is a heart felt worship song that should be our hearts cry. To worship you I live. I live to worship you.

  18. 5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

God is holy. No matter what the world may say or do, God is still holy. At times we may be challenged with certain things in our lives. We may not understand why things happen like they do. In spite of what’s going on around us, God is still holy.

  19. 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.

Jesus is so good. He is right where He is always been, our answer to our every need. Unless we worship and tell others of how great He is, the vast multitude of people around us might never know our Holy Living God.

He’s not like the dead gods of this world. He hears our every cry. He answers our prayers. He IS holy. He is God all by himself, and his name is Jesus!

  20. “Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.” The Lord (Jesus) forgave, however he also corrected. A false god is incapable of doing either. The one and only true God (Jesus) can save, whereas all others cannot; “Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.” What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen

  21. Let them praise your great and awesome name. Your name is holy! (‭Psalms‬ ‭99‬:‭3‬ NLT)

It’s about the name. I love the Name of Jesus.  The Name of Jesus is my salvation.

🎵Your presence, your glory, you’re welcome here
    All honour, dominion
    Lord please come, near
We want you, we need you
    We live to glorify
    Your name 🎵

Who will not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous deeds have been revealed.” (‭Revelation‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬ NLT)

  22. 9 Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.
I will exalt my God He is high and lifted up! Be ye holy because God is a holy God!

  23. O Lord our God, you answered them. They found you to be a forgiving God, but also one who punished their sinful deeds. -Psalms 99:8

Thank God for a forgiving God.

  24. 7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

8 Thou answeredst them, O Lord our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

We all want to hear the voice of the Lord. Verse 8 lets me know that he will answer, but will we hear and obey.

The key to hearing the voice of the Lord continuously and clearly is obedience.

  25. Worship him and be in awe of his great presence.

5 Exalt ye the Lord our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.

    Be blessed…..

  26. O LORD our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but you punished them when they went wrong. (‭Psalms‬ ‭99‬:‭8‬ NLT)

Praise JESUS that we serve a forgiving, living, and loving God. He is exahualed above all others. The Lord is might in power. Thank you JESUS that you love us enough to correct us when we go wrong just like you corrected Israel. You never change!

  27. 7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the ordinance that he gave them.

Obedience kept then from dying in their wilderness. If we expect to survive in the wilderness we have to always be searching for direction from The Lord. We have to keep tuned in to the voice of The Lord.

  28. Psalms 99:1
    PSALM 99
Praise to the Lord for His Fidelity to Israel.
    The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He is enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth shake!

  29. Exalt the LORD !! 1. THE LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cher-u-bims; let the earth be moved. 2. The LORD is great in ZI’-on; and he is high above all the people. 3. Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy. 5. Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy. Lev. 19 : 2 9. Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy. I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST !!!! YOU are HOLY, YOU are HOLY, YOUR HOLY LORD !!!! I Exalt you JESUS !!!! The LORD is Great and greatly to be Praised !!!!
