Psalm 138

1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord.

6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

  1. I will give you thanks with all my heart; before the heavenly assembly I will sing praises to you. -Psalms 138:1 NET

I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. -Psalms 138:1

………………………………….. for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. -Matthew 12:34

With everything that is within me, I will praise the Lord!

It should be seen & heard both in & out of the sanctuary.

Most of all it should be from our heart.

Heart – the will and even the intellect; likewise for the centre of anything.
inner man, mind, will, heart, understanding; seat of emotions and passion

Our praise should be from our soul. We should make a conscience effort to ensure that praise is coming from the right place.

  2. 1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

Praise the Lord in all things

  3. Praise should come from our heart, and especially giving everything to him. God inhabits our praises so if we are continually praising him he is close by when we call out to him in time of trouble.

  4. Verses 7-8 MSG “When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With your other hand save me. Finish what you started in me, God. Your love is eternal—don’t quit on me now.” JESUS, today you will SAVE me! As Psalm 136 said “his mercy endureth for ever” and “His love never quits”…..Thanks….Thanks….I give you thanks for all you’ve done in and for me.

  5. YES!!!

  6. (KJV)
7, “Thou I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive ( to flourish again after a decline or to become effective and operative again) me: thou wilt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand will save me.”
8, “The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”

    (MSG) 7-8
When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With the other hand save me. Finish what you started in me, God. Your love is eternal – don’t quit on me now.

Even through the midst of our troubles, God will revive and keep us alive. Even through the midst of our troubles, God will cause us to flourish and be effective and useful. He will stretch out his hand and save us from our enemies. He will perfect that which concerneth us. The good work that he started in each of us, He will finish because of His MERCY and LOVE he has for us.

Phil. 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Thank You JESUS for reviving and keeping me in my troubles. Thank You JESUS for saving me from mine enemies. Thank You JESUS for you are going to finish in me that good work that you started. Thank You JESUS for your MERCY and LOVE.

Ps.138:1a, ” I WILL praise thee with my whole heart…”

  7. 1-3.Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!” Angels listen as I sing my thanks. I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: “Thank you!” Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word. The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength. MSG

    Livin’ Large
We don’t have to live small, secret lives hidden from the world. We are children of the King! He will give us strength to live out loud and let the world see Him in us, and if we let Him shine through us, they will want to know Him.

  8. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

TROUBLE is part of life, all of us will have some trouble as life goes on around us. What we have to remember when trouble arises is that God is with us and we need to cry out for God’s help. When we cry out God will revive us and verse 3 says he would strength me in my soul.

3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

Yes God will always bring the strength to fight and he will even stretch forth his hand against our enemies. We must learn how to go to God in earnest PRAYER.

The RIGHT HAND of God shall save us. In the scriptures we find the right hand is the symbol of power, so when God uses his right hand he uses the power invested in him to accomplish what his will is in us.

The great question here is do we want the will of God in our lives?

  9. iLove to eat the Word

1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

We know that there is no God like our God. There are false gods however. The Psalmist is expressing extreme courage by saying he will worship before the other gods. For example:

Worship of Diana is mentioned in the Bible. In Acts of the Apostles, Ephesian metal smiths who felt threatened by Saint Paul’s preaching of Christianity, jealously rioted in her defense, shouting “Great is Diana of the Ephesians!” (Acts 19:28, New English Bible). After the city secretary (γραμματεύς) quieted the crowd, he said, “Men of Ephesus, what person is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is the keeper (guardian) of the temple of the great Diana and of her image that fell from heaven ?” (Acts 19:36)

Because of the fact that people are easily offended, sometimes it takes courage to Praise God in front of the false gods. That is the challenge we at The Pentecostals face every service when people carry in their false gods from the world. Those people who carry in their false gods might get offended at our TRUE worship. HA. I declare to Worship the King, and those gods will fall like Dagon fell. BOOM

  10. 8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands. give thanks in all things and never wonder why . The LORD will perfect that which concerneth you

  11. 8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

We all read it in Genesis 2:22 “And from the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” Not many of us have really sat and thought about it. We are the work of HIS HANDS. YES, the same hands that turned the water into wine, the same hands that open the blind eyes, and clean the lepers. Those Beautiful hands that gave all at the moment of sacrifice and were pierce by nails. Those Holy Hands, took the time to delicately form every inch of you at the time of creation. I chose Genesis 2:22 for I am a woman, beautifully created by Jesus. I wonder what made Him say “this one I will make redhead with freckles”…LOL. All joking a side, every time I think about the fact that I am the works of His Hands makes me feel so loved and so special. I think back of how many times I was unhappy with the way I looked, or worse how many of us women go and change ourselves with plastic surgery, that has to be like a slap to His Face!!! It is like saying, “sorry your work is not good enough for me, I am going to improve the creation of God”… WRONG!!! God is perfect and we are perfectly and wonderfully made by THE CREATOR that loves us. WOMEN NEXT TIME YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR SEE HIS PERFECT WORK AND GIVE PRAISE AND THANKS UNTO THE LORD FOR HE IS GOOD!!!!

  12. 6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

I hear respect and automatically go back to Cane and Able, and then jump ahead to me and the revelance of respect in my live today.

As an apostolic church, we need to understand respect, and not let our pride arise. Pride not only comes before a fall, but it also distorts respect. Pride says that, “I am right.” Pride says, ” You don’t matter.”

If we as the church stay humble, people all over this region will flood in to know the Jesus we serve.

  13. 1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
God does not want a half hearted praise, where you are saying it with your mouth but your mind is somewhere else!
When we cry out to God with a sincere heart ,He will be there to answer! Lord I praise you for this day that you have made I will rejoice and be glad in it !!! Today Lord you will save me!!!

  14. 3. In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

Lord I know you hear my prayers. When I cried unto the Lord, he saves me from my trouble. So glad that I serve a God that can hear me when I cry unto him. I serve a God that I don’t have to pick up and wipe the dust off. I serve a God who doesn’t leave me stranded in a strange land, but will lead me to the promise land. There is no god like our God!!!

  15. Praise the Lord everybody!!!!
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

I and so humbled and greatful that He answers my cry. He is the source of my strength! He leads me and guides me.

  16. Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!” Angels listen as I sing my thanks. 2 I kneel in worship facing your holy temple and say it again: “Thank you!” Thank you for your love, thank you for your faithfulness; Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word. 3 The moment I called out, you stepped in; you made my life large with strength (MSG)
God hears our cry when we are sincere in our praise. I want to give my all to the one that can forgive me and will listen and be there when i cry out. Thank you Jesus for another day to praise you!

  17. Deny it Die

    Psalms 138:1
    A Psalm of David.
1 I will praise thee with my whole heart:
before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

Today the world worships their gods. Their inferior, weak, and lifeless gods will not save them, heal them, or protect them. Yet idols abound and people speak of then everyday.

Some are even willing to kill for their gods.

    Matthew 10:32-33
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

We must confess Jesus through every aspect of our lives. People won’t know unless we reveal him to them.

    Matthew 10:32-33 wuest expanded version
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

The ultimatum was given to a girl named Cassie from columbine high school. Armed kids her age carried weapons into the school and shot children and teachers. The gun was placed to her head and she was asked “do you believe in God? Say Yes and I’ll pull the trigger.”

She was told to Deny or Die. Cassie said yes, smiled and the last sound she heard was the click of the gun.

In a moment of life and death the true person we are will come out. We can only confidently eyeball an assailant and confess Jesus if our life reflects that choice.

    Revelation 6:9-11 WEV
9 And when he opened the fifth seal I saw under the altar the souls of those who were slain because of the word of God and because of the testimony which they were maintaining. 10 And they cried with a great voice, saying, How long, O Master, the holy One and the dependable One, are you not judging and exacting vengeance for our blood from those who dwell upon the earth? 11 And there was given to each one of them a white robe. And it was told them that they should rest yet for a little time until there shall also be fulfilled [the martyrdom] of their fellow bondslaves and their brethren who were destined to be killed as they themselves also were killed.

  18. 3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

Cry aloud! When you feel as though you can’t make it, just remember that God is on the thrown. He has made the universe to spin. And the bird to fly. The tree to give shade. And the promise of the rainbow. How much more does he think about us. His creation that he formed from dust. As I told a youth this week. You are never alone. Just call out to Jesus. He will answer.

  19. In your face Praise!

1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

There are idols or small G’s (gods) surrounding us in this world. We cannot get away from them. If you want to eat at a resturant with your family or take them to the park you will see these gods. These things are in our lives just to try to take our minds off and get our focus off what really matters in Jesus Christ the one true God. I look at the world and their attitude toward these things and it is evedent that the little g is hard at work and doing his job. When I go into the world today I take the big G with me.

We say hallelujah and amen and God is good all day in the face of all these gods. When this happens the gods of this worlds stron hold becomes a little weaker. If we could get a multitude of us doin this everyday and letting this world hear us cry out to our God, they would see him and be drawn away from their idols to Jesus.

We need to step out boldly this morning and Praise the King of Kings in the face of the worlds gods.

    iPraise

  20. TROUBLE IS NO OBSTACLE TO REVIVAL

Every individual is in the hands of GOD a work in progress; none has attained the fulness of perfection. The promise from the LORD is that he will PERFECT that which concerneth me, through HIS MERCY (kindness). I confess and submit to the work of HIS hands. The LORD is my keeper, restorer and redeemer.

We must be patient and allow the hand of the LORD to work for us. We are the work of his hands and if he ever stops working on us we are absent from HIM and must repent immediately.

iPray for the peace of Israel.

JESUS, today, you will SAVE me.

  21. The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. (‭Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭8‬ NLT)

You were never intended to be abandoned by The Lord, you’ve decided to walk away.

I was talking to one of my sisters in Christ the other day, we both had the same question into why people walk away from what is true. We both just couldn’t understand.
It sad to think that one has come to the end of their life, they’re alive but, yet dead!!
All for what…. The desires of the flesh, the desire to simply rebel, to think that they may be missing out on some magical way of living. Ugh!!!! Just a lie from the enemy, we all know( even them that has walked away), that the wages of sin is death!!! No matter how deep you’re in or how you try to hide it, it all comes to the light. Nothing that we say, do, or feel, can be hidden. The Lord knows, sees, and hears all!
We all have a journey to walk, so today make it a vow, and walk, walk as a man, walk as a woman of faith. Knowing that you’re not walking alone. For His word tells us, He will never leave you, or forsake you. For HE is with you always.
Brother, Sister, if you so happen to open your heart, open your eyes, you’ll see that POFW is pulling for you, we want you to finish you’re journey in faith, in Christ Jesus. We are praying for you, we love you!!
Endure till the end, that you may be saved!

  22. 1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart; I will sing your praises before the gods.
2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.
3 As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. (NLT)

Thank you Jesus! I will forever praise You in any situation because You have been so good to me!

  23. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

No matter what happens in our life God is always there watching over us! Thank you God for always being there with me!

  24. In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul. (‭Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭3‬ NKJV)

God you know those days when I was at my lowest. When I was lost and I felt all alone. I didn’t even look for you. But you came to me and picked me up. You gave me strength and the ability to keep going. Thank you. Only you know

  25. Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud. (‭Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭6‬ NLT)

And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. (‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭6-8‬ NLT)

  26. 6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Heaven is His throne and earth His footstool yet when I call out in distress He hears and answers. If I cast all my cares upon Him and allow Him to carry those cares, leave them in His hands He will perfect that which concerneth me. Today, Jesus You will save me from myself and those that seek to do evil against me!!!!!!

  27. Cast Your Cares

    1 Peter 5:6-8
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

As we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God by casting our cares upon Him, we allow Him to work to perfect that which concerns us. When we stand proud and hold back our cares, we instead open ourselves up to be prey to the devil. There’s no point in holding on to our cares except to appease our flesh, which pushes us away from God because of the increased carnality. But v7-8 gives the picture of the Lord’s two-handed salvation if we do surrender those weights to Him:

    Psalm 138:7-8 MSG
When I walk into the thick of trouble, keep me alive in the angry turmoil. With one hand strike my foes, With your other hand save me. Finish what you started in me, God. Your love is eternal—don’t quit on me now.

    1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

  28. 1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

We shouldn’t be concerned about lifting up the name of Jesus wherever we are. People don’t care and speak passionately about their gods, artists, idols, sports athletes, singers, you name it…but in a previous psalm we read that The Lord, Jesus, is high above all gods. People sometimes get uncomfortable hearing the name and perhaps is because how much power is in His name that lifting up a praise to Jesus shines the light into their dark places.

Often people give me a weird look or make fun when I find a coin on the floor and gladly say aloud; thank you Jesus! Some question it’s small amount I say it doesn’t matter God will turn it into a blessing.

A lifestyle of praise will surely get you attention but we must know that Greater is the one that is in us. He hears us when we call.

  29. 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

You are so good God I will worship you always no matter what nothing will stop me from praising your holy name. I won’t forget where you brought me from Lord you deserve all my praise

  30. 1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

I GIVE MYSELF AWAY..SO YOU CAN USE ME!!
Thank you Jesus for your merciful endless love

  31. 3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

God provides for us , even in the very depths of our soul. He knows what we need even before we ask but it’s says when I cried out you answered. He still wants us to ask him not assume he is going to do things.

  32. NLT 2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship. I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness; for your promises are backed by all the honor of your name.

What’s in a name? Jesus, his name is all power. For some his name is offensive and they dont like to hear it called out. Some use his name in vain willfully or without even thinking about it. Its sad that his name offends so many, and they would rather hear cuss words. This should tell us, that his name carries a very big authoritive, praising, & healing actions! Let us keep saying his name at all times!

  33. “All the kings of the earth shall praise thee”. God (Jesus) has everything under control, and all, will confess he is the King of kings, and shall praise him. Albeit one must do ones part, for there is nothing to fear; “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.” What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen.

  34. Lord it’s you who I seek, you are in control. What a mighty god I serve. He protects me when I’m in trouble, Lord you are my rock and my salvation, I praise you with the highest praise. Hallelujah Jesus!!!

  35. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
I’m so thankful for the mighty God we serve! If trouble is all around us God will keep us stronger and undefeated. God will raise up a standard, a hedge of protection August your enemies!!!

  36. Call on him

    Psalms 138:3
    On the day I called, You answered me;
You made me bold with strength in my soul.

We we call on The Lord he answers us. He is able to provide strength for every situation. The Holy Ghost is our rest. He shelters is beneath his strength. To God be the glory.

  37. 3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.

Jesus strengthens me and my soul. When I cry out JESUS answers me.

    1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV)
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

    Jesus lifts me higher!

  38. Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly:but the proud he knoweth afar off.
God loves a humble and meek spirit, but the proud he turns a definite ear to.
Lord more of YOU and less of me.

  39. 6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud but giveth grace unto the humble.

  40. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

  41. v8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

We know that our walk with GOD is an on going process of growth toward perfection.
I’m reminded of the scripture that says when we were babes in CHRIST we desired sincere milk of HIS WORD. As we began to grow our spiritual diet changed as we digest spiritual meat.

Today we have a choice to repent and grow in HIS GRACE AND HIS PERFECTION or
rebel and stop our spiritual progress .

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap
    iRejoice
    iGrow in HIS PERFECTION

TODAY JESUS YOU will save from my
    infirmaries !

  42. SAVE………LORD…..

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

  43. Praises 1. I WILL praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee. Ps. 119 : 46 2. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. 3. In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. 4. All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth. I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS !!!! PRAISE YOUR NAME JESUS !!!! SING PRAISES TO THE LORD !!!!!!
