Psalm 139

1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.

20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

  1. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

    Search, try, see, and lead

What a great prayer to pray everyday. “Search me” is a very humbled state. Its saying to God you are omnipresent and i know that but i do not want to hide anything from you. So, i willingly surrender all to You.

“Try me” says Lord Im not perfect. My flesh is not will but I have over come my flesh and i desire for you to put me to the test. Lord make me better than I was and stronger for who I am becoming. Then after you’ve put me on the potters wheel step back and “see me” search for any cracks or broken places. If You find any wickness in me? Cleanse me and make me new.
Then Im ready! Present me to be Your vessel not in my own power but in Yours so lead me!

  2. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭15-16‬ NLT)

Just to know that my life is in His hands, brings me great peace and joy!!! I will stand and trust Him at His word, for I know He desires what is best for my life. So I must have a mind, and a heart ready to receive guidance and direction for my life, for He shall lead me in all truth and righteousness.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11-13‬ NLT)
Thank You JESUS for your faithfulness!!!

  3. 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
    9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

OMNIPRESENT – The prefix omni- comes from the Latin meaning “all.” So, to say that God is omnipresent is to say that God is present everywhere.
In some circumstances you might feel that God is right there with you and He will stay with you no matter what; others you will feel like no matter what is going on, you try, try, and try again and He is no where to be around. It is on the latter, that you need to stop and check yourself, because if he has departed is more like you have taken the wrong path, so check, repent (complete turn around) and seek His presence.

  4. 1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

God knows us even the most inner thoughts. I agree with Sister Crockett that we should pray everyday for God to search our hearts for things that don’t belong and let me know . He also is with us through or high points and our low points. The Lord is there always.

  5. 21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

I hate the devil and the devil hates me, the devil hates God, because he was cast out of heaven.
God’s enemies are my enemies and I will hate them with a perfect hatred!
After the Psalmist said I hate the enemies of God, he said search me and see if there be any wickedness in me. He wanted to be sure of what was in his heart, search me and lead me in the way everlasting.
God knows the hearts of all of us and he uses his word from the man of God to turn the light on us. What we do when that light is turned on is entirely on us.
Help us Lord and let me see what is in my heart, turn your light on!

  6. NET
O Lord , you examine me and know. -Psalms 139:1

Certainly you made my mind and heart; you wove me together in my mother’s womb. -Psalms 139:13

my bones were not hidden from you, when I was made in secret and sewed together in the depths of the earth. -Psalms 139:15

Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence. -Psalms 139:16

How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total! -Psalms 139:17

    The Lord knows my frame.

For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. -Psalms 103:14

The Lord has created us for his purpose. Today each of us has a destiny from the Lord. From our conception he puts a plan in place for us. It is up to us to walk in the plan, to have faith in the God who designed it and to work to achieve it.

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. -Jeremiah 1:5

  7. iLove to eat the Word

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

This is a good prayer to start each day off with. We need a clean perfect heart and clean thoughts. Just think how peaceful the day would be if we constantly lived this prayer. There sure would be a lot less drama! Amen

  8. This is a word we all need, not just today but something we need to think about daily. For daily we need to ask God to forgive us our sins and daily we need him to search our hearts. In any given situation, our intention may seem good, but if it is not to give God the glory then it can be a selfish intention.

Even when it comes to coming to church and getting involved in the church, are you doing it for the right reasons? Are you doing it because you love God? it’s possible to be in church all your life, and when you get judged on the last day, he will say “I never knew you”. I pray that he will say “Well done good and faithful servant.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scripture daily, whether these things were so.

1 Corinthians 2:10-11 But God hath revealed them unto us by his spirit for the Spirit all things, ya the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God.

  9. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? (‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭7‬ NKJV)

Where can I go to get away from the presence of God? No where. Wherever I go he’s going to be there I can’t run and hide from God. You just can’t. I don’t want to run nomore. I’m staying right here.

  10. 17. God, your thoughts about me are priceless. No one can possibly add them all up.

    18. If I could count them, they would be more than the grains of sand. If I were to fall asleep counting and then wake up, you would still be there with me. NIrV

    Jeremiah 29:11-13
    11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

    12. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

    13. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. NKJV

  11. The invitation is given

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

The invitation to everlasting life is unlike any other invitation you will ever receive. The invitation is given by the same that is being invited.

When we are true to ourselves and to God we invite him to search us, to cleans us.

    Matthew 7
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

No one invites strangers to come live in their house with them. The same with God. We have to invite ourselves but in that invitation comes the foreknowledge that only the ones he knows will their invitation be accepted.

Search me today Lord that I may know you.

  12. The darkness of depression.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Magazines, tv ads, and other media sources talk about depression as if you have fallen into a dark place. People are not around you. You feel lonely. You see darkness. Depression has leads people to isolate themselves and some even take their own lives.

Scripture tells us that God is always with us. When we feel embraced by the darkness that God is with us. God is there. His presence is with us through the darkness.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

The reason that we don’t see him in the darkness is that WE DON’T LOOK! When we feel that we are in a dark place all we have to do is look around and seek his face (become hungry for Him). Through our seeking things become bright. He is the light of the world. When we seek it bring HIS light into our world!

Amazing–if we think we are in the darkness of depression all we have to do us seek HOS light sand we will be depressed NO MORE!

Pastor asked us to pray, “Lord give me a hunger for you. ” This statement is deeper than just 7 words. It will lead you AND others to JESUS!

JESUS, Today, you will save ME!

  13. Psalms 139:13
13 For thou hast possessed my reins:
thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

The word reigns also means kidneys. In Hebrew culture the Kidneys represented what we would say our heart represents. The seat of emotion.

David says God possesses his reins. This means David allows God to be in control of his emotional feelings.

This is seen clearly in his Psalms when he cries in anguish but then turns to praise. Instead of yelling at Nathan he looked to himself as the blame for Bathsheba and humbled himself before God.

We cannot always trust our feelings or emotions. This is why the just shall live by faith.

Although we experience amazing supernatural occurrences this is not why we live for God. It is because of his love toward us that we give our lives to him. He died so we could have everlasting life.

God possess my reins today that I not become proud, arrogant, haughty, or vengeful. Instead let me walk in the love you have demonstrated to me to the world.

  14. THE COURAGEOUS CRY

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Too often this life changing, sin revealing, salvation provoking prayer is avoided, eluded and ignored. I pray this prayer often, for the purpose of my own salvation. Eterenity is of extreme importance to me, more important than being liked, being rich, being right in a situation, or possessing any item or status in this world.

The HEART is the core of the soul.

HEART – 3824. lebab, lay-bawb´; the heart (as the most interior organ); used also like:— bethink themselves, breast, comfortably, courage, (faint), (tender-)heart((-ed)), midst, mind, x unawares, understanding.

LIFE decisions are made by what is in the HEART.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Keep or protect our HEART. The best form of protection is accountability or COVERING. GOD searching our HEART is a very fearful event. Sin cannot hide from HIM, hatred, wrath, strife, gossip, lust, jealousy, unforgiveness, rebellion, stubbornness, are all naked and open before HIS all seeing eye.

Our thoughts become our actions, our actions become our habits, our habits become our lifestyle, our lifestyle determines our eternity.

Deception is the silent killer of the last days. Believing your living right when there is wrong present in our heart.

    THE COURAGEOUS CRY.

  15. HALELUJAH!!!
1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

THERE IS NOTHING THAT MY DADDY DOESN’T KNOW!!! WE CAN RUN BUT WE CAN’T HIDE!!! I THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME, EVEN BEFORE I WAS UNLOVABLE. THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU JESUS!!!
    THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  16. This chapter is comforting to know that the Omnipresence of the Lord knows everything about me…..when I walk, when I sleep, when I run and hide in fear….when I am overwhelmed by the cares of life…my coming and goings…..my thoughts and the very intentions of my heart. We can never escape His presence.

It is during times of trials and tests that this comforting passage becomes real because even though I may be at a place that I feel I’m alone, HIS word rises up in my spirit and confirms He knows where I am.

  17. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Thank you Lord for always being there with me no matter what.

  18. 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

God show me the way. Show me how to live. Because I want to be with you.

  19. Jesus lead me..

Idk were any of us would be but were gonna have trials and the wolf is going to try and attack and were gonna have to fight..put aside what we wish we had or want cause its not about us we have a nation filled with people in pain and were playing games…
LORD I WONT MORE OF YOU GOD!!!WE THANK YOU JESUS WE MAGNIFY YOUR WONDERFUL AND HOLY NAME..

  20. Expectations

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

    Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

The Lord gives us an expected end but what is our expectation? Do we expect the promises of God to come to pass in our lives? Do we expect His goodness? Do we expect His salvation? Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” If we don’t walk in agreement with the expectations of God, we will find ourselves out in the dark trying to find our way outside of Him. It is when our faith lines up with His Word that we can see what God desires truly come to pass in our lives.

    Psalm 119:130
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

    Psalm 119:103-105
103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

  21. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. (NLT)

Search me and know me, that my passion for You would only grow! You are always with me Lord and I pray that all I do would be pleasing in Your sight; lead me and guide me on Your path of righteousness.

  22. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

Thank you jesus for saving me when i was at my breaking point.

  23. 7 I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave,[a] you are there.
9 If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
Thank you Lord for being with me where ever I am at. You watch over me and guide me on the path you want me to be on! On the radio they said this boy had dishonored his family and as a tradition had to be cut off from his family. But throught all of this his dad watched over him and took the blam for him! That’s how I think God is with all of us! That it doesn’t matter where I am at or what I have done, but God is always watching me and comes when I need help!

  24. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

God is with is always. He is my Jehovah Jirah. He is my every need. We must have the mind of Christ.

  25. 1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Jesus you know me, all the things that are me. Every good thing and every mad thing. Thank you for never turning your eyes away from me when I fail you Lord. Make me clean before you God. Cleanse my heart of everything that breaks yours

  26. I find this not to be a song but a prayer.
A prayer that reminds God of things and reminds us of things, and most of all teaches us things.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

If we looked at our lives, what is God thinking?

  27. 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
    9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

This has been one of my favorite verses for many years, as it reminds me that nothing and no one can separate me from Jesus.

  28. v14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul kmoweth right well

” . The SPIRIT of GOD hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life . Job 33:4

The hope of the child of GOD is everlasting life that goes beyond the grave.
” Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
    Believest thou this? John 11:25-26

  29. Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. (‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭23-24‬ NLT)

Oh Lord my God that I would love the things you love and hate the things you hate.

  30. Perfectly you

    Psalms 139:14
    I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.

You were made with Gods utmost care and precision. A soul that he wants to dwell with forever. Never think for a second that you are worthless. You were designed wonderfully and carefully. God loves you.

  31. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee

no matter what we do or were we go we can never hide from God. God keeps his eye on his people and watches over them.

  32. GOD KNOWS ALL THINGS.

God has perfect knowledge of us, and all our thoughts and actions are open before him. It is more profitable to meditate on Divine truths, applying them to our own cases, and with hearts lifted to God in prayer, than with a curious or disputing frame of mind.

  33. 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Nothing is hid from God. We as humans may see darkness as a covering but God sees just as clearly through the night as the day. There is no secret or hidden sin!

  34. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

    Perfectly, Unperfect.
Pretty much that’s how we all come to The Lord. We all come with hurts, baggage of burdens, cares, sins, you name it…but The Lord sees the end result. He loves us so much even in our Unperfect stage, while being yet sinners He died for us (Romans 5:8)

The questions is do we see what God sees? He sees the end result; He sees the latter end better than our beginning. And His thoughts for us are precious… Oh how he loves us!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ.

  35. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

  36. “For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.” The Lord (Jesus) knows all and sees all, therefore one is wise to live accordingly. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen.

  37. SEARCH ME 23. Search me, O GOD, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: Job 31 : 6 24. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Ps. 5 : 8

  38. Fearfully & wonderfully made…..what a complexity!

14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

    “Be blessed”…………..
