Psalm 141

1 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

6 When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

7 Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.

8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

9 Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.

10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

It is so important that we careful what we speak. Words have power, they are creative. They produce a environment that we and others live in.

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; -Hebrews 1:3

It should be that the world around us is supported by the word of God!

Hebrews 1:3 lets us know the we are upheld by the word of his power.

James reminds us the the tongue that is not submitted to the Lord is full of trouble.

And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence – and is set on fire by hell. -James 3:6 NET

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. -James 3:6

What are we speaking today! What have we spoken into the lives of others! What have others heard us say!

    Stop and listen to yourself!

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. -Acts 2:4

  2. 1 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

  3. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
9 Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

I have a big problem, I have a big mouth, and if I don’t watch sometimes it gets to be faster than my own mind. What do I mean? When I am excited or passionate about somethings, I get so involve when I speak about it that my mouth with speak faster than my mind and heart; and before I know it I have stuck my foot so deep down my throat that I probably don’t need to eat for a few days; or worse I have offended or hurt someones feeling. Since then, I have learned a lot of lessons; although it is still very hard to keep my mouth shot, I can identify when I am about to lose control over it. In which case, some of my sisters and brothers have laughed at me because I have literally bit my tongue (on purpose) and walk away still with my teeth putting pressure over my tongue. I don’t do it for fun, nor to make some one laugh. I do it because it is my way to put a stop to an organ that sometimes have a mind of its own. It is my version of a horses bit. Does it work?? Not always, for the control of that bit is me. I also include in my daily prayers a request to God to guard my tongue and to give a bad taste in my mouth in the moment I am about to lose control; in that way is like heads up so I can bite it. LOL. Yes, sometimes it is frustrating to do so for you walk away without given that person “a piece of your mind”. On the other hand, if you go about the world giving everyone a piece of your mind, you will finish crazy without a mind.
The enemy knows your weaknesses and will go about setting traps to see if you wrap yourselves in them. One good thing is that the adversary has never changed his tricks they are the same all the time. If you keep yourselves full of the Holy Ghost at all times; you will be able to discern the voice of God, from the voice of the devil; making it easier to see those traps prior to stepping on them. Thank you Jesus for your Comforter and Discerning Spirit. Thank you Jesus for teaching us daily and making a way of escape through your word. PRAISE BE THE LORD IN THE HIGHEST!!!!! FOR, JESUS, TODAY, YOU WILL SAVE ME!!!!!

  4. vs 8 no matter what trials befall we should always look to Jesus. He is our hope and our salvation in time of trouble. Psalm 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

  5. 8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
9 Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

In thee do I put my trust! We should always put our trust in God, because only God can help us in all things. The enemy has laid snares for us and wait for us to fail. God show us the snares, the gins of the workers of iniquity. Believe it or not many people would like to see us fail and not be able to live for God. So the enemy will use people to set snares for us to stop us from moving up to the next level.
Let the things reverse and the enemy fall in its own snares!

    Est 8:7
7 Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

  6. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
Such powerful words, that needs to be in our prayers daily!!
It is so easy to get carried away with talking to someone that if we are not careful we will say something about someone that could damage their character , and if it gets back to them that we said it(and it usually does) it could be the very thing that could cause them to quit trying to live right.
We need to always think before we speak and if it is not good about someone, keep it to yourself and pray about it.
Oh if people would just watch what they say, the Pastor would have a lot less problems to deal with!
We all have to battle with what comes out of our mouth, so everyday we should start our pray with “God help me to speak good and positive things today”.
Jesus you will save me today and that includes my mouth!!

  7. YES JESUS!!!
2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips

Not all prayer is as incense before GOD. HE knows the intention of our heart and it’s always good to be humble ………
A bridle over my mouth has been good to pray. It WORKS!!! =D
HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! I PRAISE YOU AND ONLY YOU I WORSHIP!!!

  8. But my eyes are toward you, O GOD, my Lord; in you I seek refuge; leave me not defenseless! -Psalms 141:8

What are you looking at in your trial? Are you lookin at the turmoil, the failure? Or are you looking past the trial, through this hard time right now, are you looking forward to the next place, for the scripture states my eyes are toward you! You might be stuck but if you can just get your eyes toward Jesus…

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

Keep your eyes toward the Light!

Psalm 25:15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

  9. 8. But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

The first step to going back is looking back; or left, or right. In order to achieve Godliness and Heaven, we must keep our eyes on God, and not be distracted by what this world has to offer.

    Proverbs 4:25-27 KJV
    25. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

    26. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

    27. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

  10. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

Thank you Jesus because when I am weak you are strong, I can trust you to stand when my knees are weak. Watch over me Lord, watch over us, keep us safe and on the past you have set out for us. I prau we would not give place to the enemy,if he has no place to move we have no place to fall. Sanctify us Lord in all that we do,from the words of our mouths to the intent of our hearts. Let everything be to glorify you God and shame the enemy. In Jesus name!

  11. 10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

God I pray that you’ll keep me safe. But thank you God for a other day of life.

  12. I LOOK TO YOU FOR HELP, O SOVEREIGN LORD. YOU ARE MY REFUGE; don’t let them kill me. Psalm 141:8
It is in my pain that I fully take refuge in my LORD, I’m not just talking about a physical pain, or spiritual. But at this point in my life it’s my mind. The mind is where I begin to think on things and wonder if I did what was right, yes I did what is right, and I’m sticking with it. I’ve have laid it all at His feet, and I continue to pray, and seeking His Will and not my own!! For The Lord, has given me a sound mind!! But, if we are not careful we allow the enemy to creep in and play mind games, and begins to play with your emotions. BUT, devil……. NOT TODAY!!!
Because I know that ….. JESUS, today, YOU will SAVE ME!!!

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ KJV)

  13. Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely. (‭Psalms‬ ‭141‬:‭9-10‬ NKJV)

Keep me from their evil plans and doings. I know in the end God you will. Prevail you will save us from the evil of this world. This world has nothing on us. While you guide us and hold us to safety.

Thank you Jesus for your salvation. Thank you for loving me and my family and friends. Thank you for your blessings.

  14. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

There are many clichés when talking about the human mouth.
    Big mouth
    Smart mouth
Born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth
    Foaming at the mouth
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth
Out of the mouth of babes
Stuck one’s foot on their mouth
Put your money where your mouth is
    Shooting one’s mouth off
You took the words right out of my mouth
    The list goes on…

However, the secret is in Mathew 15:18 – But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. What is in your heart? What do you talk about most, or as Pastor preached this weekend, what are you passionately talking about? I want to have more conversations about Jesus. I have found that if you look for opportunity to talk about Jesus the more opportunities will present themselves.

  15. The power of Submitting to Correction

    Psalms 141:5
Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness:
and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil,
which shall not break my head:
for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

Our world is filled with statements, and beliefs that remove us from positioning for spiritual success and blessing.

One of the most common of these phrases is “don’t judge me. You can’t judge me. Only God can judge me.”

However the psalmist is not only saying judge me, but also bring on the consequences.

He says let the holy, or righteous person smite, beat down, or break down me.

It shall be a mercy, loving kindness, favor.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10

Let him reprove, rebuke, correct, chasten me. This brings the chiefest anointing.

This will not discourage, frustrate, or cause me to give up.

In fact this will help grow us closer together, because I will be drawn to intercede when they go through life’s challenges, tribulations, and obstacles.

This can only come through submission.

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Hebrews 13:17

Instead of running from, let’s run to correction.

  16. 3, “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”
4, “Incline (to have a particular disposition or bend of the mind; body; ect… have a tendency; to have a preference or liking) not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.”
8, “But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the LORD: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.”

There is a saying that says, “The Eyes are the Window to the Soul.” When you look into someones eyes, you can tell alot about that person, if they’re happy, sad, mad, hurting, guilty or telling the truth, ect. If you can see someone’s heart through their eyes, then it stands to reason that whatever goes into someone’s eyes will go directly into their heart. Once in the heart, it comes out of the mouth. St. Matt. 12:34b & 36-37 says, “… for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

“But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the LORD.” This is why we need to keep our EYES fixed on JESUS. Because when we LOOK at Him, only good can come into our HEARTS and only good speaking can come out of our MOUTH.
But when we take our EYES off of JESUS, we begin to look at the things (evil things) of the world. This comes into our HEARTS, and then ugly evil speakings come out of our MOUTHS.

The EYES, the HEART, the MOUTH. What are you LOOKING at, What is in your HEART, and What are you SPEAKING??? Remember: every idle word that you speak, you will give an account of in the day of judgment. Your words will either justify you or condemn you.

This is why we need to pray Psalms 139:23-24 everyday. “Search me, O God, and know my HEART: try me, and know my thoughts: And SEE if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

  17. The trap of sin

10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

    Ester 7
9 And Harbonah, one of the chamberlains, said before the king, Behold also, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman had made for Mordecai, who had spoken good for the king, standeth in the house of Haman. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.
10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified.

You don’t realize the mess your in until it’s too late.

    Numbers 32
23 …behold you have sined against The Lord, and be sure your sin will find you out.

The definate line between right and wrong is perverted by mans reasoning of the grace of God.

    Romans 6
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

    Jude 1
…ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

The most certain way to deny Jesus Christ is to rely on grace while your in the middle of sin.

If Jesus returns while you are in your sin waiting on grace to abound, you are lost.

    iRepent

  18. 5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

Don’t reject authority that is over you, especially from your pastor or your parents. For as it says in this verse, we need correction from righteous men and women of God in our life, we can’t just rely on our own minds and hearts to keep control of us all the time.

Oil in the bible represents anointing, so in this verse it compares accepting correction and authority from those people that are above as being anointed. God will anoint you if submit to and accept authority that is over you

Proverbs 15:10 Correction is grevious unto him that forsaketh the way and he that hateth reproof shall die.

Proverbs 15:31-33 The ear that hearth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. He that refuseth instruction depiseth his own soul, but he that hearth reproof getteth understanding. The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before honour is humility.

  19. DONT MAKE A PROMISE YOUR HEART WONT KEEP

3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

Years ago BC Before Christ was in my life, we had a saying, “Don’t write a check with your mouth that your hands can’t keep”. In other words don’t threaten somebody if you don’t intend to beat them down. First of all, thank you JESUS for delivering me from that bondage of thinking. However, today I understand the principal behind the saying is biblical and eternal.

In my new life in JESUS Christ, I take that saying to mean. “Don’t make VOWS or COMMITMENTS to the LORD my HEART is not willing to keep.” also “Don’t let your mouth speak what is in your heart if it is negative or evil.”

Too often today a persons WORD of commitment isn’t worth the value of breath that it is spoken in, there is an extreme display of dishonesty. We are wise to consider our words, every single one of them.

    JESUS said:
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Every WORD I speak, I will give an account for. This is why I ask the LORD to Set a WATCH, and KEEP or protect everything that comes out of my mouth.

The Apostle James understands and extends this illustration in regards to the lips, mouth, tongue:

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

JESUS explains where the HEART comes in:

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

To keep my MOUTH right; I must also keep my HEART right.

Don’t speak evil (criticize, gossip about, defame or curse them) of others.
Don’t make vows, promises or commitments that your heart is not willing to keep.
Dont complain about your current situation or circumstance; it could always be worse.

  20. 8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

I lift mine eyes unto you Lord and put all my trust in you for I can do all things through you.

  21. Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong. Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds. (‭Psalms‬ ‭141‬:‭4-5‬ NLT)

I’d rather be corrected while I have a chance to make things right than to be corrected at judgment day. Like it’s been said I want to hear “Well Done” and not be well done.

  22. 2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

    Are your prayers sweet?
I remember a few years ago I was in a very powerful prayer service and the room started to smell like the most beautiful field of flowers. It was a “sweet” smell. I remember after that meeting everyone asked each other if they sprayed any perfume. No one did.
So are your prayers sweet to Jesus? Or are the prayers that we pray so repeatitive that they become lukewarm? Now I know we all have done this where we have our little routine down pat. And that’s where we’re comfortable. But what would happen if we got out of out comfort zone and prayed differently. What would happen if instead of praying for our situations that we spoke to them. We have that authority to speak to our mountains to move. So don’t be surprised when you start to feel the earth move. Because it just might be your mountain moving. And when our mountains move they then become flat and fields of flowers begin to grow. Speak into exsistance that you want done in your life. Allow God to speak too. We keep asking for direction but how can God speak when we keep talking. Listen! To the voice of God. Iamblessed. Iamanointed. IamacholdofGod.

  23. iLove to eat the Word

2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

An amazing blog this morning. Our prayer is like incense that rises into the heavens. If there is not the fire of passion in our hearts, then our prayer is not going to leave the ground. The fire send the incense into the air. BOOM!

Revelation 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

  24. 2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

David was fervent in this prayer that the Lord would make haste to hear his request.

Incense has no use without the fire burning it to produce the fragrance that it was purposed for. Likewise our prayer must have emotion, fire of the spirit, passion that it would be a sweet fragrance of worship unto the Lord, gathering His attention as He attend unto our needs and desires

  25. 5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

The words excellent and head in this verse are the same Hebrew word rô’š meaning high, highest, top, priest, lead, and ruler. The psalmist is welcoming correction from someone he is submitted to. Saying it will be a priestly or high anointing that will not break his head. Here I believe it’s saying that because he understands the implications of godly correction he will not allow it to affect the relationship with him and his spiritual head. It will not break his head.

    1 Corinthians 11:3
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

    Ephesians 4:11-12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

We should not allow righteous correction to break our head. The head of every man is Christ and Jesus gave men who are called and under authority for the perfecting of the saints. Instead of getting frustrated or discouraged by the correction and breaking things off, we should see it as a kindness or mercy from God meant to save us. We should stay submitted and receive the blessing from submitting to our head: the high anointing.

  26. An attitude of righteousness

    Psalms 141:4
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing,
    To practice deeds of wickedness
    With men who do iniquity;
And do not let me eat of their delicacies.

This statement shows the heart. We must really be careful to practice a heart of repentance rather than a heart of stone. Paul warns us in Romans 9 about how God can raise up people to destroy them. He references Pharaoh in Exodus. It is important to notice that before God ever hardened Pharaohs heart, pharaoh hardened it first.

When we harden our heart against God, He may harden it for us in the future. Salvation is by grace. God doesn’t owe it to any of us.

  27. 8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

I fix my eyes on You and all that I am I place in Your hands.

  28. 4 Don’t let me so much as dream of evil or thoughtlessly fall into bad company. And these people who only do wrong – don’t let them lure me with their sweet talk! 5 May the Just One set me straight, may the Kind One correct me, Don’t let sin anoint my head. I’m praying hard against their evil ways! MSG
Don’t be lured in with sweet talking and end up in bad company. If you don’t agree wtih something or some thing and the enemy sweet talks to you to do it stand up for what you believe and don’t fall into the enemy trap. Be a light to the one that is lost and in the dark.
When you start to talk and you don’t need to be talking pray God put his hand over your mouth. Think before you speak!!

  29. Psalm 141:3-4 Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips. Don’t let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don’t let me share in the delicaciesof those who do wrong.

Psalm 141:5 Let the godly strike me! it will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don’t let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds.

This would be a nice thing to add to one’s personal daily prayer: control what I say, control my acts, and let the righteous correct me.  Correction is not God’s punishment but rather an act of love.  If ever I’m doing wrong things or walking on the wrong path I want to hear the truth of correction that I may get back on the road to Jerusalem.  God wants to bless us but many times our actions force push his hands back, and we’re left wondering, where’s my blessing Lord..?  Correction says your doing it wrong, this is the road to blessing.  It would be a wise thing to surround ourselves with godly/righteous people that can speak into our lives.
I want to honor you Lord. Correct me if I’m not doing right, and do not let me in my ignorance where I hurt myself and other.  When you correct me I am blessed.

Proverbs 10:17 People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray.

Proverbs 15:32 If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself;but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.

Proverbs 12:1 To learn, you must love discipline;it is stupid to hate correction.

  30. LORD I CRy 1. LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. 2. Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. 3. Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. 4. Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties. Prov. 23 : 6 I AM VICTORIOUS

  31. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

Lord keep my attitude so that what comes out of my mouth is pleasing to you! Keep my heart because from out it comes the issues of life. Keep me from evil so that it will not grieve me! Let my ways be pleasing to you & not to this world.

  32. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23 Keepeth-to keep, guard, observe, give heed.
Guard my lips Jesus so that I can keep my soul from trouble. Keep my heart pure so everything that comes from my mouth may be pleasing to you.

8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
All my trust is in you Lord I am nothing without you. Thank you Jesus for all your mercy!

  33. Great Value Sacrifice

1 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Seeking the Lord and praying and lifting up hands to God is likened to sacrifice here. How so? In our natural state, our worship is often directed towards anything and anyone but Jesus. So when we choose to seek Him instead, it becomes a choice against our natural inclination and desires and exalts Him above the other things we could go chasing after. Yet it goes deeper than that to also the attitude and way in which we seek God. The Psalmist’s prayer for their sacrifice to be accepted implies that their offering could indeed be rejected.

    Genesis 4:3-5
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.

4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Our worship of God is not about us and our desires but about what pleases Him. It can be easy to talk about what we do in sacrifice (presumably “because of God”) but it is sobering to ask how much of it pleases Him. There’s a whole new perspective that comes when “doing our duty” is not dependent upon our actions checking off the list but depends on if God receives it. True worship is not about going through the motions but pleasing God and that is the true heart of sacrifice; not going against our will simply to go against our will but laying down our life that we might have Christ. Simply going against our desires can be an offering made to any god, but doing it for Him to touch His heart in accordance to what He desires becomes an offering only He can receive as it is for no other. When it comes to true sacrifice, there is no Great Value generic brand to defer to; Jesus wants to real deal from us.

    Matthew 22:37
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

    John 4:24 AMP
God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).

  34. “Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense”. One must determine to do what is right and seek the Lord (Jesus). For there is far more that can be accomplished through, humility, repentance and sincere prayer; “Incline not my heart to any evil thing”. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen.

  35. Wow. This is very powerful. 1 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. It reminds me he always hears me when I need him. Thank you Jesus!

  36. David prays at evening for protection from sin and from sinners, He will be safe as long as he keeps his eyes fixed on the Lord.

  37. 4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

What a prayer! Here we see the writer asking God for His hand in keeping him from sin. Sin can look so appealing, and fun, but the wages are still death. Jesus prays a similar prayer, in “The Lord’s Prayer”, when He says, “lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” If we asked to be kept from sinning, we might miss out on a bunch of the troubles that we find.

I like how the writer doesn’t stop there, but asks for correction, and acknowledges that the correction is only to help him. But that’s not enough, he also says that, if those who are helping and correcting him should have something bad happen, they too will have his prayers for them. (Do you suppose that it’s because David knows the power that comes with staying under authority?)

  38. 1 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

These words are especially deep for me, it reminds me when I was going through a valley in my teen years. There was a moment that I actually felt abandoned by God. I grew so desperate for Him I would cry out to him daily. I could imagine David’s desperation in prayer of how important it is to make you connect with God.
This experience has lead me to thank Him for hearing my cry and I can imagine Him inhaling the sweet smell of my worship.
Thank you God for your endless love, forgiveness, everlasting mercy and grace.

1John 5:14 And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. 15 And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

  39. 8 But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
Lord fix my eyes on you! I trust you with all my needs Lord. I place everything in your hands! 🙂

  40. 5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

This verse reminds me of the teaching of Passion’s Greatest Advisory. This was a strong message given to the congregation by a RIGHTEOUS man. Pastor Watts hit me. His examples of a person who was not passionate pricked my heart. I am praying for the return of the passion, the kindling of the fire. While his words pricked me, they were provoking. I pray that I am not the only person who has been provoked to change. I pray the whole church will come into the unity of Pastor’s vision and will have a passionate fire that consumes them within.

Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay. For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him. But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭20‬:‭9-11‬ KJV)

Look at what happens when we unleash that burning passion. GLORY!

  41. 3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Sometimes we say things that get us in trouble. When the Holy Ghost is the filter of our lips, only good things will be spoken. We must not allow evil sayings to flow from our mouth. Our God is greater.

  42. 2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
I want my praise to as a sweet savor This scripture alone reminds me from time to time how we should enter God’s presence and go before him. Often times we give God our half hearted and comfort zone praise. If blessings was determined by what we deserved we all would be in trouble.

  43. Psalm 141:3-4
Set a watch before my mouth-That I may not, through mine own infirmity, and the great provocation of mine enemies, break forth into any unadvised speeches, or any expressions of impatience, distrust, envy, or malice; keep the door, & c.- My lips which are the door of my mouth, whence words come forth. Incline not my heart- Suffer it not to be inclined, either by the temptations of the devil, the world, or the flesh

  44. Wow…this is so important! We all have said things that wish had never said! I pray this every day to the Lord to set a guard on my lips so I don’t transgress.

3 Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

“Loose Lips”. Do what? They sink ships!

  45. v3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth: keep the door of my lips.
v4 Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

“It’s not the water that worries me its the water that comes inside the boat that will sink us.”
It’s what we allow to come into our hearts that will sink us.
    iPray for a righteous heart.
iSpeak words that give life and promotes love.
JESUS , Today You will Save me!!!
