Matthew 16

1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

  1. From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. -Matthew 16:21

It was the plan of God that Christ would die to bring life to others.

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. -Romans 5:19

The Lord didn’t shy away from the death of the cross.

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. -Luke 22:42

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. -Matthew 16:24

If we are going to follow him we have to take our cross. It is not just the death of the cross. There were many in Rome that died on the cross. There were even those that died on the cross for things the may not have been guilty of.(remember Rom 3:23)

Please under the cross was necessary because without the blood there is no remission of sins, but I believed a “will” submitted to the cross was necessary as well.

When our will begins to die we know we have exited the garden of Gathsemane when we can say:

And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. -Matthew 26:50

And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. -Zechariah 13:6

  2. 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

who do you say the Lord is. The one true living God and Jesus is his name.

  3. 21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

A lot of times I feel like Peter, he goes from star pupil to being chastised with in seconds. I know how he feels. There are days that I am doing so well, I study the word of God, apply it to my life, serve others, and all of the sudden from no where, my carnal emotions get the best of me, I open my big mouth, and like a reflex my foot goes in it. We do it everyday. We are in His Will for our lives, things get difficult, and all of the sudden we begin to whine. There is GOOD NEWS, Peter in spite of his mistakes, still holds the keys of heaven. We must keep in mind that repentance is our path to salvation. Do not allow the temporary emotions of this world be your one way ticket to hell. If you fall, or better yet WHEN you fall, repent, stand, and hold to HIS MIRACLE HEM OF HIS GARMENT very tightly, never to leave His side again and you will also press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

  4. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭19‬ KJV)

    Praise The Lord!!!!

The same revelation that was given to Peter has also been given to us.
The question is, with the revelation that has been given to us, what are we doing with it?
We have been given the ability to change our city, our region, Our State, And this nation, through the power of the Holy Ghost, with the word of God!!
If God be for us( the church) who can be against us?
We are the church, a HOLY SPIRIT filled church, and nothing can stop us now!!!
Today, let the true church of Jesus Christ arise. . Let us come together and work as one body in CHRIST JESUS.
We all have different gifts and talents that has been given to us, and we are stronger when we come together to work as ONE.
Don’t allow your current situation keep you from working in the kingdom of God.
That is only a tool of the enemy that is trying to keep you from doing what God has called you to do. No devil in hell can keep us the church, The Pentecostals of Fort Worth from doing what God Almighty has called us to do…. Reach for souls!

  5. 9. Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

    10. Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

When God has delivered us from a situation in times past, we need not be anxious when it arises again. Let’s not forget that He has brought us through it before and is well able to do it again.

  6. Verses 24-26 MSG “Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?” Wow….a lot of us like to try and be back seat drivers; but, it doesn’t work that way…..God is in control. Less of me and more of you Lord means finding my soul.

  7. iLove to eat the Word

3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

The following are “The Signs of Our Times”

One Nation and One King (Today the once divided kingdom of Israel is united as one under the flag of David. -Year 1948)

Ezekiel 37:15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

16Moreover, you son of man, take you one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel, his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel, his companions:

17And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in your hand.
18And when the children of your people shall speak unto you, saying, Will you not show us what you mean by these?
19Say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand.
20And the sticks on which you write shall be in your hand before their eyes.
And say unto them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, where they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
22And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

  8. Another day with so much you could say in these scriptures!

Jesus had just finished telling Peter (get thee behind me satan) because Peter did not want to accept the truth. Many people in our day search through the scriptures, but never really find the truth, because they are looking for justification of where they are.

Disciple: one who is well disciplined or has trained to follow explicit instructions!

To follow Jesus Christ one must become A disciple!
How do we become A disciple?
Jesus answered this very clear, deny ourselves and take up the cross and follow Jesus.
Most people will say they have! What is self denial?
What have you denied yourself? Anything!
When you follow Jesus you have to take up your cross, not the cross Jesus carries. Every man must bear a cross to follow Jesus, let the world see you are a disciple and you are bearing your cross. And you are following Jesus!

We are the light of the world! People should be able to tell we have been with Jesus!
The way we Act, conduct ourselves in daily life.
We should not throw Temper Tantrums
    Control our emotions
Dress, Look like A disciple on the streets of your city!
Talk, our speech should betray us.
The Places you go will give you away, you should feel out of place at a night club.

I could go on, but I want, I think you get the picture!

Are we disciples? Help us Lord to ask ourselves this everyday!

Disciples brings others to Jesus Christ!!!

  9. 16 Simon Peter said, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am.
Lord let me know the secret of who you are!! Lord of lords, King of kings, Prince of Peace, Lord you are so great!!!!
18 And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.
POFW is/going to be build on the Lords rock! And the devil is going to know we are coming!!! 🙂 Thank you Jesus!!!!

  10. Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭23‬ NLT)

You may not like what you see. But if you look at it Gods way good thing are here to come.

  11. The rock
    Matthew 16:18
I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.

Peter “small stone” has a revelation of the messiah. This revelation reveals the rock. Jesus is the chief cornerstone. The rock he is referring to is the revelation that Jesus is the Christ to redeem sins. Those who believe that can apply faith to their lives and be redeemed. Those who have the Holy Ghost will not be overcome by hell.

  12. 3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

We have seen the signs around us. As my grandma always says. Wake up church!!! In todays society we are always looking for the answer. The answers to life. The answers that are no one knows. If we would just read the word and know what it says. We would not have many questions

  13. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. (‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭24‬ NLT)

Once you begin a life of ministry life will never be the same. That’s not saying being the leader, teacher or preacher. When you make the decision to love and follow God you will be judged and mocked for being seperate from this world. Bearing the cross is a blessing. Not only are you having the honor of walking with Christ but you have the privelidge of allowing God to open your eyes to His kingdom.

    God is so good!

  14. Matthew 16:5-7 (KJV Strong’s)
5 And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

Carnality can zap us of our ability to be sensitive and understand the things of God.

    Romans 8:7 (KJV Strong’s)
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Vines says Carnality it the Weaker human element, lower state, the seat of sin.

Flesh, or carnality is the opposite of Spirit.

The disciples didn’t quite get what jesus was trying to say to them.

Matthew 16:8 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
8 But Jesus, aware of this, asked, Why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? O you [men, how little trust you have in Me, how] little faith!

Jesus equated their carnal thinking with little faith. Our faith in God is BIG when we our lead by the Spirit.

    Galatians 5:16 (KJV Strong’s)
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

    Romans 8:14 (KJV Strong’s)
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

  15. 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

Be careful of the company you keep. “Some say”. We must know for ourselves what we believe and why. We cannot go on other peoples experience or their convictions. We must have our own personal relationship win The Lord.

  16. 26, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
27, “For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.”

    Rev. 22:12-14
“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according to his work shall be.”
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”

There is NOTHING in this world worth losing our souls or reward over.
Only what we do for Christ matters.

  17. Gone in 60 Seconds…

With in a matter of minutes Peter goes from revelation to ignorance. Peter understood who Jesus was and God says “I am building my church on that revelation.” Yet, Peter did not understand the price of destiny and Jesus had to rebuke him because that was one of the quickest ways to destroy the church.

When God calls you to do a specific thing in a specific hour there will be a Peter somewhere between start and finish. They will know that you are anointed, called, and set apart. Yet they will see or hear of the things you have to endure and tell you it’s not worth it or you can make it to heaven and not do this.

We must follow Christ example and cast that spirit out of our lives, not always the person. For Peter still walked with Jesus. Peter still had that same protection for Jesus even in right before Jesus dies. He chops off a mans ear.

Just in my opinion I think God kept him close because he was driven and loyal. He had Jesus’ back and would protect Him. Yet he had to keep him close so that he could pull his coat tail before he killed someone.

  18. HALELUJAH!!!

HE KNOWS ALL THINGS!!! HE CANNOT BE DECEIVED!!! THEREFORE WHY IS IT THAT WE FORGET THIS AND TRY TO HIDE CERTAIN THINGS FROM GOD, KNOWING THAT HE ALREADY KNOWS??? The disciples were in company of THE MIRACLE WORKER, WAS IT COMPLACENCY OF HAVING HIM WITH THEM, THAT THEY LOST THE SPIRITUAL PART???
GOD IS SO GOOD!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR MERCY AND GRACE DADDY!!! I PRAISE YOU AND I MAGNIFY YOUR HOLY NAME!!!

  19. There is a great song by tobymac based off of a few of these verses
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
I encourage everyone to listen to it! Its a wonderful and groovin’ song!

  20. 3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Ephesians 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

  21. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Here Jesus is teaching is that our love and our loyalty must be too him and him alone. We must be willing to lay whatever he wants down in order to follow a him. There have been things that we have had to let go of and lay down for the cause of Christ but there are no regrets today because God gave us back 100 fold! God always blesses those who flew him first.

  22. 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.
25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? (NLT)

What a terrible thing to lose your soul over the things of this world that will one day fade away. I want it to be obvious and known that my life is being lived for my God. I Take up my cross and surrender my life all for the glory of Christ!

  23. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

I don’t want to gain the whole world if I have to lose my soul. Nothing in this world is worth losing my soul over. I want to be a follower of Chist and a leader of others. I want to show this world Jesus. Lord help each and everyone of us to show you when we go out in this world, and to make a difference in this world.

  24. WHO IS HE TO YOU?

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Reality says that simply because I identify JESUS as GOD does not mean that everyone identifies JESUS as GOD. In return simply because someone else says that JESUS is not GOD, does not mean that JESUS is not GOD.

    WHO IS HE TO YOU?

The individual wisdom that we exercise is best utilized to identify GOD as the WORD of GOD identifies GOD. John Chapter 1 is a wealth of revelation on the identity of JESUS.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John very clearly states that JESUS is GOD come to the earth to become the sacrifice for the sins of humanity.

Peter identifies JESUS as GOD in:

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Peter revealed the keys of the Kingdom in Acts chapter 2 the birth of the church.

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

This salvation opportunity that Peter presented in the book of Acts affirms the New Birth plan that JESUS presented in:

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

To me JESUS is everything! Salvation, Healing, Deliverance, Peace, Joy, Wisdom, Knowledge, etc., etc., etc., etc.,

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  25. 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

Jesus rebuked Peter because he tried to interfere with the will of God. Even though to him it seemed like the right thing to do it was still wrong. Anything that tried to go around the will of God , no matter if it seems good it is wrong. We must do what is in his will not ours

  26. 3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Today we live in perilous times, I can see all around me as what Jesus talked about here is coming to life. The scriptures talked about wars and rumors of wars, and pestilences and famines and natural disasters. And we seem to be getting all of that more than ever, even when I talk to people that aren’t walking in the Christian faith they say it feels like the world is falling apart.

But we have nothing to be fearful of, for the Lord will protect us in these trying times and it just means his second coming is getting ever so closer. I can’t wait to see my creator, face to face. Hallelujah!

  27. “Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.” There are those today just as there was then that will attempt to twist the word of God (Jesus) to appease self. One that is wise will stay far from doctrine that is not of God, as such one must know the truth else one could be led astray. This is why reading and hearing the word of God, from a true man of God is so vital. What a mighty God we serve, thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen.

  28. Storm the Gates

I’m tired of Christians laying down to the enemy and taking no stand against the attack of the devil. When your under attack fight. When there is peace be ready for the next attack. If you really believe that these are the last days why don’t we storm the gates and pull as many out as we can. The time is running short. Here Jesus said that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church. Storm the gates,
    Make a difference.

  29. 9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

    These were 2 seperate occasions!!!

  30. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.😄

  31. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

And with Jesua saying this, people still want to argue that Peter explained salvation incorrectly, or wrongly? It’s all right here, no debate, black and white, unless you have a red letter edition, and then it’s red, black and white. (Haha).

  32. Leaven

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

    Romans 8:6-8
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

In all we do, even religious activity, we must examine our ways to see if we are in line with God or walking contrary to God. Just as Cain found out, no matter how sincere our attempts, trying to serve God in our flesh won’t work out as we may hope. To truly walk in the abundant, God-pleasing life God has for us, we must be walking in the Spirit in His ways.

  33. 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

There are do may Christian books and teachings and churches and may have their way if doing things. However, even since that time Jesus warns to be careful of the doctrine. In an era where information is at the palm of our hands and libraries and many ways to get knowledge, one most be cautious to what we let into our minds and hearts. An elder once told me a long time ago; ” the word of God, Jonathan, only the word of God can direct you.

The doctrine that we follow its very important in our walk with God. The teaching that Jesus gave the apostles is what we need to follow. Once in a dream several years ago, The Lord directed me to follow the apostolic doctrine. In the dream I was driving on a car with a friend that was also christian. While going down a street with many churches and the names on them. I passed by one that said apostolic. My friend then turned and looked at me and said apostolic doctrine is what we should follow. From then The Lord very wisely led me to church. And where he wanted me to be that I may learn from Him.

Ephesians 2:19-22 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.

  34. 3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

So many people today are walking around able to tell about trivial things in the weather and the night sky but they have no clue about what time it is on God’s clock. Science studies hours on end to prove why something happens. How many of us are studying long and hard to prove the scriptures? If the signs of the end are right in front of you, do you see them?

Jesus help me to understand what I study so that I am able to discern things on your time schedule. I do t want to be rebuked by you too.

  35. Matthew 16:24-28 A true disciple of Christ is one that does follow him in duty and shall follow him to glory.
Let us take up his cross.

Oh what a reward POFW Disciples will receive according to all their works.
    Outreach
    Soulwinners

  36. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Jesus said follow me and deny yourself, he is asking us to take up our cross for him. It is an honor to represent Jesus, to follow his ways is to leave sin behind you and live a godly life that will be pleasing to the Lord. Follow his teachings and commandments and reach out to lost souls and bring them to God. God is the only way to eternal life.

  37. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [his blessed [a]life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] [b]life [in the kingdom of God]? AMP

Let’s not put our trust on men or Earthly things but on things of God. We have to put him first in everything. Pastor Watts gave a study a while back on how to making decisions 1. Check with God 2.Please God First 3. How will this choice affect my family 4. How will this choice affect my Ministry and 5. How will this affect my Finances.
Sometimes we tend to start with finances first. Jesus let everything I do be for your honor and glory!!!!!

  38. 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

What a testimony to have such a great revelation of who Jesus Christ was, because there were still some apostles that did not completely understand who Jesus was. What a previlege we have to know Him for who he is, God in the flesh and the Honor to have Him abide in our hearts as our consoler.
