Matthew 25

1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

  1. God is looking for those who are willing to take in the stranger to feed them, give them drink and clothed them. Those who won’t be afraid to visit them when they are sick or in a place where they are restricted/bound. To be called a child of God is going to take more than just looks. It will also take some doing. Greater is he that is within us!!!

  2. vs-41
How significant that the eternal fire was prepared for the devil and his angels. Christ has dine everthing He can to keep every human being from this dread fate. Only a mans actions or decisions against Christ can keep him out of a eternal fire.

  3. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

The danger of slumbering and sleeping at the wrong time! All things were ready, but the bridegroom tarried.
We must be ready at all times for the cry of the bridegroom, go ye out to meet him. Nothing must get in our way as we approach the end, the enemy will do everything he can to distract us. So the time to be vigilant and sober is now!

We must be able to trim our lambs in a moments notice, which means we must have a supply of oil on hand. We will not have time to go buy oil! We must be prepared for the day ahead and willing to give to God what he wants from us.
We must have for ourselves and not expecting someone else to give to us.
Everyone has to have for themselves not waiting on others to supply!

  4. DONT BE FOOLISH

Most of humanity exists in a survival mentality, doing enough to get by but never excelling in LIFE. Too often people are content to survive in this mindset spiritually as well. Praying only when they are required to or they have a desperate need. People living in a backslidden stated, expecting to just “get right” with GOD at the last minute, in the last day.

JESUS describes this mindset as FOOLISH.

We are WISE to be filled with OIL (the Holy Ghost) not just once a year, month or week, but be FILLED every single day!

    Why?

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

    BE READY!

LIVE like JESUS is coming today.
PREPARE like JESUS is coming 100’s of years from now.

    LIVE LIFE

    Prayed UP
    Filled UP
    Studied UP

    BE Caught UP

  5. The hour of visitation

    Matthew 25:13 (KJV Strong’s)
” 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

    Luke 19:43-44 (KJV Strong’s)
” 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”

The word visitation means investigation, inspection, visitationthat act by which God looks into and searches out the ways, deeds character, of men, in order to adjudge them their lot accordingly, whether joyous or sad

There is a day of visitation coming. Yes Jesus is coming, but there is a day when God will weigh our actions.

The bible says he puts down, and raises up. God gives promotions.

To move to the next level in God we must be ready because he could give us an evaluation on a day we think not. Then we could be left behind.

This principle prepares us for the big event the rapture.

So whether concerning promotion in the kingdom, or the catching away the words of Jesus apply.

    Matthew 25:13 (KJV Strong’s)
” 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

  6. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Who will I be Jesus to today? You never know when the person you are talking to is hungry for God, or has a need in their life that you can minister too. We must become sensitive to the spirit of God, and be full of the Holy Ghost to have something to give.

When Peter and John went to the temple and the lamb man lay at the gate, he was asking for alms, but they had something greater than alms, “Silver and gold have I known, but such as I have, give I thee, in the name of Jesus rise up and walk.”

We must exercise that same faith and authority and give this world JESUS.

  7. 14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

Every man has several ability. What are you doing with them? Are you using them and growing them or are you hiding it for a “rainy day?” Do what you know what to do for God. He can use you. He can use a broken vessel. Heal them and then use them to reach those that have been broken. Anyone can be used. God is faith and just.

  8. A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭28‬:‭20‬ NKJV) Gods word commends faithfulness. The parables in Matthew chapters 24 and 25 are about being ready for Christs sudden appearing point out that those who faithfully do their task receive the Lord’s approval. Day by day in good fortune or in bad, weather feeling good or feeling a little down in the dumps, we are to continue doing the job God has given us. Although we may have come under heavy attack and our wounds maybe many. An attitude of determine loyalty should fill our hearts and drive us on where no matter what. We are to be faithful to the end.

  9. 23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Oh to hear The Lord say those words. I will follow your will Jesus, have your way with me for I know you have a plan for my life!

  10. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

In children’s church today, our lesson/skit was about not becoming complacent. While we must start on the journey, we also must finish it. We can’t get comfortable along the way & stop growing in God. We must read, study & pray to obtain the promises of God!

What a privilege we have to see a child filled with the Holy Ghost! They start on their journey & need the example of this church family to help them stay on the straight & narrow road.

  11. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

We have to be ready but also there has to be an urgency about us that we will warn and educate those around us about the nearing end. It is not Gods will that any should perish but he is coming soon. Let us go to work and realize how important these times are in these last days

  12. iLove to eat the Word

Matthew 25 is a classic chapter explaining to us the necessity of receiving the Holy Ghost. The oil is the Holy Ghost. If a person doesn’t have the Holy Ghost then it is very clear that they will be left behind at the second coming of Jesus.

    “They all slumbered and slept”
Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

  13. This scripture shows that we as sons of Christ need to be vigilant and prepared for the things of God, and not only spiritual things but also in our daily lives. When we listen to God and hear his voice that he speaks into our life, he gives us wisdom that we would not be able to have on our doing. All wisdom comes from God, why go to a third party for sources on how we can live when we can go straight to the source of info and every information in this universe?

Now, this doesn’t mean he wants to learn on our own and be bottle feed how to live our life, he wants to strive to be better, smarter and more knowledgeable in our life, but don’t let it replace where we get the core of this knowledge in our life: The Bible.

Through Christ we can do ALL things!

Proverbs 1:5-7 A wise man will hear and will increase learning and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. To understand a proverb and the interpretation, the words of the wise and their dark sayings. The fear of the Lord is the begining of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

  14. Matthew 25 Readiness and Stewardship

25:1-13 The lamps seem to refer to their lives which are either prepared or unprepared. The oil refers to that which prepares them to give forth light and may properly be

  15. Conviction

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. (‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭15-29‬ KJV)

If God is going to measure our output on our gift, are we investing well? If God I trusts us with souls, what are we doing with them? Are we making disciples? If we start with one, will we return with two? The faithful people in the story doubled what they had. The man in charge told the one who didn’t try that he at least should have invested. Are we investing in our souls that we have been in trusted to keep? Pastor talks about accountability. God help me to make disciples and to increase the kingdom like a good and faithful servant would do.

  16. 1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
We got to make sure we are ready for the for the trumpet to sound. We got to make sure that our vessels are clean that we have all the oil that we need ( holy ghost),

  17. 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

God knows the intentions of the heart. Helping other is as doing it for the Lord. Lord always lead me through the right direction.

  18. It is all for Christ.

    Matthew 25:40
” And the King will answer them, Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

We had the opportunity to bless someone at a rest stop today. God gave us each a number to give the guy and it was the same. We weren’t sure if he was conning us or not but we said we give for the cause of Christ. What he does with it is between him and God.

We also have him a church card. He said he would pay us back by a check in the mail but we said just donate whatever God puts on your heart to the church.

The initial thought is to reject people bc of the society we live in. People like to bum off of others. Nevertheless, our generosity is more important than our preconceived notion of people not needed our blessings.

  19. To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. (‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭29‬ NLT)

It’s important to allow the works of God to work throughout His church. If a person has a gift they shouldn’t hide it, but embrace the fact that God trusted them with such abilities. We are a chosen generation, let’s shine the light for all to see!

  20. Matthew 25:13 KJV
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

There is too much to lose to put off getting right with God. What if you wait too long? He could return at any time, so we all need to make sure we keep ourselves ready at all times.

  21. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Hallelujah let’s be ready for God in our daily walk. He is coming back for his people!!! Let us go and reach the lost in JESUS NAME 🙂

  22. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

Nope, you can’t have my beans!!
This just reminded me of pastor’s preaching. We must be wise to be prepared. We don’t know the time or the hour. Everyone has to get their own oil and not ride on others anointing when the time comes, you don’t want that light to go out. The lamp must keep burning and it takes work.

  23. The Difference

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats

The difference the Lord pointed out had to do with more than just actions but was revealed in the presence of oil. Some kept oil on hand, but others let their supply run low, running from one spiritual paycheck to the next. The difference came in their approach to that oil of the Spirit; some saw it as a necessity and others saw it as a commodity.

    Exodus 27:20
And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

  24. PRAISE THE LORD he meets all our needs!!!! He wants us to give to the poor as well. What he Blessed us with not to keep it all to ourselves. Hallelujah !!!! THANK YOU JESUS !!!!
