Matthew 26

1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,

2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.

3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.

6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.

47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.

49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.

51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.

59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,

61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

63 But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.

66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

  1. 7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

When they say that money is the root of all evil, this is what I think they are talking about. Yes, we need money, this world can not and will not function without the usage of some kind of power measurements to pay for services but, when money becomes the focus of all you do, all you are, and all that it is important to you – it is my opinion that is when it becomes evil. When churches care more for money issues than helping the souls, there is an issue.
One day, as I laid on an altar, feeling broken, feeling abandoned, destroyed, and cried out to God with everything you have left; God stepped in, and showed a love that can not be measured, an alabaster box, when I was in the Gulf, I saw my first alabaster box, it was made of marble it looked like a block of marble about 2 1/2 inches thick. I asked the sales man what was it and he said an alabaster box. He explained to me that it was hollowed and he showed me in the reflection of light an extremely thin line almost invisible to the naked eye. So, I ask how you open it, he said you break it. Why will you break such a beautiful box? to what he respond BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY WAY FOR THE BEAUTIFUL SMELL OF THE PERFUMES TO RUN. He said it is the last and ultimate sacrifice your family does for you. The last anointing before burial. Sometimes we must be broken for Him to anoint us with His wonderful Aroma. My alabaster box broke long time ago, ever since then HE IS MY SAVIOR, MY FRIEND, MY ALL, THERE IS NOTHING MORE THAN MY GOD, NOTHING. WHAT A GIFT, TO BE LOVED IN A PURE, PRECIOUS WAY, THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE WAS DONE ON A CROSS, BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THAT IS PURE, UNRESTRICTED LOVE.

  2. 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

Jesus is are example of what our lives should be. If we are going to do anything in the Kingdom our lives are going to have to be blessed by the Holy Ghost, broken (not my will but thine be done) and given to cause of Jesus Christ.

We like the blessings but often refuse to be broken and given. All of these things must take place in our lives if we are going to be successful in Christ.

  3. 47. And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

53.Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

He didn’t go with the multitude because they had swords and staves and forced Him to go; He went because He loved us! He knew what was to come, yet He went to fulfill the scriptures and be the sacrifice for our sins. That kind of love is hard for us to comprehend, and it hasn’t diminished one bit!

  4. 39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Sometimes we pray for God to remove the problems in our lives, but it doesn’t go away. Somethings we have to go through. We always want to put the blame on the devil. But some of our trial and tribulation is from God we don’t always know the purposes for them . We just have to trust and believe in the Lord to help us make it through.

  5. “A deal with the devil”

It’s never a wise thing to make a deal with the devil. You will be entering into a no win agreement that will ultimately take away your life. Judas constantly looked to betray Jesus after the deal was made.

When people sell out to the enemy, the enemy gives them a moment of temporary freedom, power, riches, and fame. This however, does not last long when looking through the eyes of eternity.

How many of Hollywood’s Stars, who have passed away, would trade us their lives now that they have seen their eternal fate?

  6. 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Jesus said unto Peter, could you not watch with me one hour? How important is an hour of prayer? We need to look at this and understand that the enemy will always be around to hinder us from our prayer time. Nothing is as important as prayer time. Jesus praying for the will of God to be to done, knowing he needs to be offered for the sins of many.
Every hour we offer to God in prayer will be rewarded!

  7. Giving Him your all.

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. (‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭7‬ KJV)

As you come to GOD, you must give him all that he’s asking of you. He desires all of you, not to serve Him only when you have a special need or healing etc. the sacrifice that he desires, is 100% of you. No matter what it will cost you.
Jesus was willing to sacrifice Himself for you no matter the price, He did it because He loves you. And I don’t believe we should give Him anything less. There comes a time in your life where you will give Him your all that He deserves. It’s your time, it’s your talents, and it’s your treasures. All for His kingdom and His Glory. That’s how you show Him that you are His child, His friend, His disciple.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ KJV)

  8. Verses 39-41 MSG “Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, “My Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?” When he came back to his disciples, he found them sound asleep. He said to Peter, “Can’t you stick it out with me a single hour? Stay alert; be in prayer so you don’t wander into temptation without even knowing you’re in danger. There is a part of you that is eager, ready for anything in God. But there’s another part that’s as lazy as an old dog sleeping by the fire.” We must surrender our will to His and remain in prayer, in order not to fall into our old ways. As the scripture says above, so many do not see the danger that they are falling into. Help us Lord to surrender ALL parts to you and say “Yes, Lord to your will and to your way”.

  9. 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

We must have a life of prayer and keep watch for our soul because as soon as we let our guard down when least expected we’ll realize our flesh has led us to temptation. Don’t be so weak to slip into sleep; Lord awaken us!

  10. Denial and Betrayal

    Matthew 26:21 (KJV Strong’s)
” 21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.”

    Matthew 26:75 (KJV Strong’s)
” 75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.”

Judas disowned Jesus and had him delivered up into treacherous hands.

Peter disowned, and claimed no association with Jesus.

The bible says buy the truth and sell it not. We are to hold fast to the truth, and not give it up for an easier doctrine, or “new” revelation.

We are also told that if we deny him in front of men he will deny us in heaven.

The two tests will come to our lives. We must have a made up mind now that we will confess him before men, and claim our connection to him as well.

Judas betrayed and never found repentance resulting in suicide. Peter disowned, and denied but found repentance.

Jesus is still willing to forgive our sins.

  11. Peter said to him, “If they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away!”
Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all the disciples said the same thing. –
    Matthew 26:33-35

At that he began to curse, and he swore with an oath, “I do not know the man!” At that moment a rooster crowed.
Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly. -Matthew 26:74-75

    What happened Peter?
You were willing to die with Him before.

During these two situations, Peter went to Gethsemane with Jesus to pray, yet Peter fell asleep.

Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter, “So, couldn’t you stay awake with me for one hour? Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” -Matthew 26:40-41

I wonder if Peter would have still denied Him, If instead of sleeping Peter would have been praying.

Prayer keeps our spirit strong and our flesh in check. We need to be continually in prayer, we never know what fight its preparing us for.

  12. “I do not know the man”

It was just 10 chapters prior to this Peter says: “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Peter even gets angry when Jesus tells him that he would deny Him. Even after being warned Peter fell into the lap of sin by his surprise. The distractions around him caused him to fulfill the prophesy spoken about him denying Jesus.

The every revelation God revealed to Peter was tested and Peter failed. Why is it so important for us to examine the process God took Peter through? Because if we are not careful we will miss the fact that in the middle of God testing us we many lose something’s and or actions or words may show others that we do not know Him but don’t give up. “For when I fall I shall araise!” Sometimes God is putting us to the test to humble us not crumble us. Peter you denying Christ did not destroy the revelation of who Jesus is it just put you in a position to never take Jesus for granted. “Truth endorse forever” you can’t stop the truth. Because of this Peter will never forget he denied the very Person that changed his life and he will spend the rest of his life making sure others know Him as well.

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (Acts 3:6)

“…but such as I have give I thee:…” What did Peter have? The power of Holy Ghost and the revelation of who Jesus is. Miracles are preformed by the hands of Holy Ghost filled men and women who know who Jesus is. Do you know the man?

  13. WATCH AND PRAY

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

If it wasn’t for this flesh we would do many mighty spiritual works. Fatigue and weariness are continually pressing the flesh, however the burden and promises of GOD must be greater than the temptation to grow weary.

We must take responsibility in these last days for the condition of our soul, our family, our church, our city and our nation. Allow the burden of the cup of suffering that is before of us to motivate us to WATCH AND PRAY.

  14. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.

51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

Our God can do anything, he could have called for angels to come and get him, but he didn’t he paid the price for our sins. There is nobody that loves us more than God! Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me and my sins.

  15. 1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, 2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. 3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, 4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. 5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people. 6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

Jesus, even knowing that he was headed for crucifixion did not allow worry about the upcoming situation to effect his daily walk. Then arriving at the house of Simon, the woman with the alabaster broken the bottle of precious ointment and poured it upon his head in worship.

When we are going through tough, trying situations, if we can get in the a spirit of prayer and allow the anointing of the Holy Ghost to cover us, flow over us, and through us, we will not be distressed but will know that all things work together for the good to those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose!!!!

  16. Money is not good if it is number one in your life, if you let Jesus be number one and let him control your money it works out for the good.

  17. As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take this and eat it, for this is my body.” And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. (‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭26-28‬ NLT)

I’m so thankful for covenant between my Haevenly Father and I. 🎵He is more than all the world to me. He’s my dearest friend that I have ever known. And would take all eternity just to thank Him for the love that he has shown. 🎵

  18. 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Can you imagine how upset he must have been to come back and see his disciples asleep…… He didn’t want to die 😦 and the men that he spent most of his ministry with then men that should have been interceeding the hardest for him were sleeping.. gosh I can only imagine how hurt he must have been. Do you think he feels that hurt every time we fail to pray. No we’re not praying to save his life but what about when we fail to pray for hunger for him. We fail to pray for the lost souls of this world, we fail to pray for eachother… Jesus. Revive the spirit of prayer in our lives. I don’t want a good prayer life Jesus I want a life of prayer. In Jesus name

  19. 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
The first thing is to WATCH and be alert to the things that are happening in our nation, our church, and in our daily walk with God! Are we praying about the things that are happening in these areas of our lives? Our nation is in trouble, only the prayers of the children of God can make a difference ! Our church is depending on our prayers to be successful in winning souls and making a difference in our city, we have to work together in unity and this can only come thru prayer and guidance by the man of God that has been placed in our lives! If our prayer life is not what it should be, we will not be able to face the temptations that the devil throws at us, it will be to easy to just say what’s the use in fighting because I’m loosing the battle anyway, but prayer gives us a determination to go another round because we know that we are going to win because GOD said “I AM A WINNER.”

  20. 11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

Seize the moment. This woman had the means and the opportunity to bless Jesus before his burial. We have the chance to bless the Lord too.

Eph 5:15 “making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

  21. 51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.

  22. 27, “And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;”
28, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

Eph.1:7 says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

Thank You JESUS that you shed your blood for me, so that, I could be forgiven and cleansed from my nasty ugly sins. Thank You for Loving me so much.

What can wash away my sins
Nothing but the BLOOD of JESUS
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the BLOOD of JESUS
    Oh, precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow.
    No other fount I know
Nothing but the BLOOD of JESUS.

Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

  23. Great Price

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

    Matthew 13:44-46
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:

46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

    Matthew 27:5-8
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.

8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

The heart of a worshipper will see the value of Jesus more than a cynic or casual observer ever could. The worshipper will see the treasure while others will see only “the field.” Our value of Him will be revealed in what we give for Him in our worship.

    Philippians 3:8
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ

  24. 66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

Are we guilty of death? According to this world and its twisted ways, have we become so like him that we die daily with him. Do our actions accuse us of bring Christian, followers of Christ. I pray that I am guilty, and if I am not that the Lord will so change me to reflect Him in all ways.

    Galatians 2:20King James Version (KJV)

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.

Let our words be his words that men can tell by our speech and it can witness to them.

  25. 41 All of you must keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (AMP)

What do you feed more the flesh or your spirit? Whatever you feed more is what is stronger. Let’s not give a place to the devil!! The devil only wants to destroy us. Let us always have our focus on JESUS because JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY! In you I trust Jesus!!!!

  26. Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he went away, weeping bitterly. (‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭75‬ NLT)

If God says it will happen then it will
    Happen. He keeps he’s words.

  27. 31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
We must continue in prayer and not sleep so as not to be offended at Jesus when our time might come to claim his name and power over our lives.

  28. “In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.” They accepted, welcomed and even tolerated Jesus (God), as long as his ways fit, their terms. One must be mindful and prayerful that self never becomes so full, or a priority over the Lord (Jesus), elsewise one could also become as those that laid hold on him. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word! God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all, in Jesus name, Amen.

  29. 39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.

Ephesians 6:17-18 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Phillipians 4:6 Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be healed. The effectual fervant prayer of a righteous man avialeth much.

  30. 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

we all struggle with our flesh and have to learn to deny our flesh and do the well of God. If Jesus had to do it what makes us think we should not have too? JESUS was our example.

  31. Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭34‬ NKJV)

It’s has to be a scary feeling that you know your gonna mess up! If I was Peter I would be trippin. JESUS already said that he was going to deny him. Even tho Peter denied that he will denied. JESUS already knows that he is.

Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭41‬ NKJV)

Sometimes It’s like no matter how much we try and how much we avoid sin and run from it. When it’s in front of is its like we want it and run to it. Lord help us. It’s only by faith we can avoid sin. I Gotten stronger thank you!

  32. The preparation for the battle

40 he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

If these same had done what Jesus had asked of them and prayed with him what would have come. I have found in my own walk with God if I’m not praying I’m not who I’m suppose to be in him.

It is like a soldier that never prepares for the battle and when it is at hand he is so scared by it that he can do nothing but tremble. Jesus was trying to prepare his disciples for the ensuing trouble ahead but they were not tuned in to him enough to understand what he was talking to them about.

    1 Samuel 17:36
Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God.

David was prepared for the battle. His mind was tuned in to what Gods plan was. He was in the zone.

Our battles are won before they even begin. We are called to prayer. When we are truly in prayer nothing can stop us. If we get lazy in our prayer it is easy to run away.

    iPray for the victory

  33. On the road to victory.

In a race. We see the endresult. The hurting. The restless nights of sleep. The stretching of muscles. The training. The overall well being of someone. These are all factors in a race. But what was the road to victory paved with? For is it was death. It was denying God in flesh. It was betraying him with a kiss. It was selling out to the world around us. And it was the blood thatcwashed away my sin. It was Jesus raising up from the dead to give us the Holy Ghost. The road of victory is narrow. But oh where it leads to in the end on priceless.

  34. 50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.

    Friend.

Jesus called Judus by friend, knowing that he was there to betray him. Yet we, supposed to be like Christ, have a had time calling someone friend when they hurt our feelings…

  35. In this scripture, are many dips & turns. Talk about a storm and how to stand in the face of adversity. Jesus shows us how to be strong in the midst of chaos or in other words. A great beginning of the day with a woman honoring him with great love and appreciation, adoration, praise, then it turns to utter destruction by his own disciples. One betrayed him and the another denied him, but the fate of the betrayer was everlasting, so was Peter’s but he choose the right thing. “He Repented, and realized that we all have (sinned) forsaken God or failed God, at one time to another.” You also, see the importance and the power of prayer, so we would not be caught up in temptation. Then Jesus, once again shows us how to get the job done. He went back the second time up to pray, he knows the answer we need is through our prayers. He also demonstrated that it’s not our will but God’s will that needs to be done. God doesn’t panic when there is strife or a great storm in life, nor does he sweat what people think nor does he fear death. He created life, he is the life. So, Jesus demonstrated to his disciples to be brave, and that the Father could give 12 legions of angels. In other words, just “Chill, God’s got this!” Sometimes, it takes a good crying to cleanse your soul. Peter realized what he had done, and he repented. He Loved Jesus, and realized the wrong he had done. “Haven’t we all failed Christ Jesus?”

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.

21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

I’ll confess, I have failed Christ Jesus on several occasions, but I won’t give up and keep on trying. Yes, I will repent a hundred times is need be, but I know my Jesus loves me. “I can’t give up, because he is worth it!” He is my praise……….

  36. 13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Jesus knew what the woman was doing but nobody else saw it. People were quick at judging but Jesus saw right through her that she meant well. Actions speak for themselves and Jesus honored her when no one else did.

I need more of you Jesus.

  37. Matthew 26:2-5 Jesus also predicts His betrayal. Son of man is His favorite. designation of Himself. Betrayed is better translated here as “delivered up” or handed over.”

  38. Pouring out your anointing

The lady in this scripture had worked diligently to get her ointment. She went to where she knew she was supposed to go and poured it on. Others around her ridiculed and told her that it was a waste. All her hard work was gone. She could have done so much more. THEN Jesus said that she had a higher purpose.

Many times like the lady in the scriptures we work diligently toward something. We have a precious thing (the Holy Spirit) that we pour out on someone. Others see us and ridicule saying that we are wasting our time or could have helped more people if we used our anointing somewhere else. BUT THEN we just listen for the voice of Jesus and like the lady in the story, he tells us that we have a higher purpose. We never know how that pouring out if the anointing will affect that person or those that come after. While that woman from the text did not do the act for recognition, she us always remembered. Our one act of obedience might just be the fatalist that causes a 5,000 soul revival! To God be the glory! Let’s go pour out our oil (Holy Ghost) on those someone and see what happens.

  39. 35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
How many times have we been before our friends and been ask if we go to church or believe in Jesus and denied him?
The picture Peter paints for us in that not just once did he deny Christ but thrice, and for what reason you ask, maybe fear, or maybe other things, or just plainly because Jesus said he would. After a three year experience, walking side by side with God man himself, witnessing signs and wonders, and marvelous works first hand, and still denying him, makes understand that we can repent no matter the circumstance and become even one of the chief apostols for God.

  40. Friend in betrayal.

    Matthew 26:50
” Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came to do.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.”

Jesus calls judas friend as he is being betrayed. When we consider the character jesus has on earth, it seems that this is said with sadness for his betrayal. It really gives us an understanding of the mind of Christ. He came to save the lost.

We must remember Christ died for us and even I. Our failures we must strive to do good. We can find repentance or go apostate. The choice is always ours.

  41. Peter’s denial . vs. 69 thru 75 Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
