Mark Chapter 8

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

Read Proverbs Chapter 9

Mark 8

1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,

2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.

17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?

18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.

33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

  1. Wow, in this scripture had so much to learn from! How miracles, signs, and wonders can be done in front of their very eyes, and how easily they forget. The BREAD of LIFE, had performed a great sign and miracle, and the Pharisees ask for a sign from heaven. “Wow”, who is really blinded by Satan! Jesus fed how many?………….

9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

In this next verse, you can almost see Jesus saying, “OH BOY” was’nt you guys with me a few minutes ago? The SIGH……”REALLY?”………You almost would like to underline the words (sighed deeply) in this next verse or add are you kidding me?……….

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

In this next verse is still being argued today! The Muslims, Athiests, Trinitarians, or other Cults, such as; Mormans, etc. etc. The thing is they are quick to say he was a teacher, a prophet, a good man, humanatarian, or even a Holy Man, but they escape or deny the fact that he is; The Alpha, The Omega, The First, The Last, Elohim, Yah, Jehovah, The Great I Am, The Lion of Judah, The Rose of Sharon, Yeweh, Emmanuel, Christ, Lord, God, Word Made Flesh, Bread of Life, Savior, Friend, Light, Holy of Holies, Holy Ghost, Father, and he has many other names but he is….”GOD”, in my own words he is “DAD”…

    “WELL SAID PETER”……………………………………………………………….

  2. 4. And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

    6. And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

    8. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

Hungry? In the wilderness? Give everything to Jesus and He will take what little you have, multiply it, and meet your needs with more than enough!

My God is more than enough
He can supply all my needs
    He is my El Shaddai
He always looks out for me
Jehovha Jirah, He is my God

  3. iLove to eat the Word

    Mark 8:2-4
    (2) I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
    (3) And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
    (4) And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

The seven day fast is near. Somethings to keep in mind as we start our 7 days of prayer and consecration in the month of January are as follows.

Jesus will have compassion on us just like he had compassion in verse #2
    (2) I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:

Furthermore, Jesus understands the weakness associated with fasting. Notice verse(3) And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

Finally, we can expect Jesus to satisfy us with bread via a miracle.

This is a great new way to anticipate our 7 day fast is on the horizon. Waaaahhhhoooo.

  4. Verses 34-37 MSG “Calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to saving yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? What could you ever trade your soul for?” Pastor spoke to us about wants and needs. The Lord already knows what your need is even before you ask. You cannot talk your want into a need, so let it go and follow Jesus. It’s not about us; but, it’s all about Him.

  5. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? -Mark 8:37

There is nothing in this world that can satisfy my soul like the Lord. There is no worldly possession that replace the salvation of the Lord.

For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? -Luke 9:25

    I will be saved!
    My family will be saved!
    I will win a soul!

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. -Matthew 5:12

It’s easy to lose sight in the times that we are living in. But, we should not be consumed by what’s going on around this world. Life is what it is today. We cannot lose focus on what’s most important in our life. Our main focus should be and always be Jesus Christ. We know that war is going on today, we know that diseases are going around today, and many fear. Don’t allow fear to consume your mind, don’t allow fear to paralyze you, but trust in a holy God, trust in Jesus Christ! Continue in his word, continue in prayer, continue in your praise and worship unto God, trust him with everything that you have. And you shall see that the Lord will bring you through everything that you face in life. Pick up your cross and follow him. Lay everything else aside, and allowJesus Christ to carry you, allow him to guide you, allow him to give you peace. For the Lord knows what is good for you. Will you pick up your cross and follow him? We may not always understand what’s going on in our lives, or in this world, and it is a trying of our faith, but the Lord is faithful and it is in him and through him, that our faith is in.
Continue to work in the Kingdom of God, lay your kingdom down (riches of the world) and finish building his Kingdom for his glory, for his honor, to exalt His mighty name…. Jesus!

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ KJV)

  7. NLT 11When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had arrived, they came and started to argue with him. Testing him, they demanded that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority.

12When he heard this, he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, I will not give this generation any such sign.”

Even though Jesus was already doing miracles of healing the sick, the Pharisees still did not beleive in his authority. They wanted to see a grand, heavenly miracle to believe. The Pharisees saw themselves as the upmost, devine and holy individuals. They wanted Jesus to prove himself, to determine if Jesus was at their level. Jesus refused, knowing if performing small miracles still did not convince people of who he was, a bigger sign still would not change their mind.

  8. 15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

We must be careful what we incline our ears to, because just a little false doctrine can cause us to turn from the truth.

Jesus spoke of religious truth (Pharisees) and governmental truths (Herod). Too many people listen to lies concerning both.

  9. 34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Following Jesus Christ is more than just walking along behind him, we must deny ourselves some things and carry a cross.
Deny ourselves (WHAT): Many people never learn what self denial is. If we live our lives for us and never think of the other person and what our actions will do to him, her or them. Everything we do will affect somebody somewhere!
Getting ahead in life is not meant to be running over someone along the way.
I do not need to gain the whole world, I need to save my soul.
My prayer today and everyday is some how and some way touch me in such a way that I can see I need Jesus everyday, even every second of my life.
If we wait to late we might be as verse 37: WHAT SHALL A MAN GIVE IN EXCHANGE FOR HIS SOUL?
    Your soul is priceless!
    Being saved is priceless!

    JESUS SAVE ME TODAY!!

  10. 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

You hear it all the time, I used to be a Pentecostal, but could not handle the standards or times have changed is time for the church to change with the times, those rules were meant for thousands of years ago it does not apply to today. The question is simple…Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? What priority is taking precedence in your life? What do you prefer to do than to go to church, or pray, or read His word? What will make you stay away from church and lose your salvation over it? Mine has been anger, yes, anger, twice in my life I have gotten so angry that I remove myself from the congregation and lost in the blessings because I was so angry. The enemy feeds the anger, resentment, and bitterness, he just keep feeding it like crazy. You find yourself thinking and running the scenario in your head over and over and over again. You keep thinking I would of done this different or should of said this to them. Well, should of, could of, would of, just show you DIDN’T. The more you do it the angrier you get and you finish backsliding and throwing your blessings away because of anger. Others is the standards, I hear it all the time if only I can get to wear pants, or make up, or I don’t see anything wrong with drinking an occasional beer or cup of wine… To lose ones soul for such petty situation is dumb, to finish in a lake of fire for eternity because one desire to negotiate His Truth, it is stupid. Prov 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. Thank you Jesus for You stepped in the mist of my situation and show me that no matter what I am to stay by your side. Thank you for showing me to seek council for sometimes you need a leader to shake their finger at you and put you on your place. I thank the Lord that my Sis. Watts does it with love and care and she goes straight to the point. Thank you Lord for your Grace and Mercy.

  11. 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

I can remember a time when I was ashamed to be a Christian. I would not claim the name of Jesus in public. I knew it to be wrong and cowardly of me but for some reason I would rather avoid confrontation; not that there had ever been any… I cannot remember the day or the event in which Jesus “truly” changed and touched my life but I am no longer ashamed. I bow my head over my food in public, claim the name of Jesus in all situations.

Tammy and I were in a retail store some time back. There was a woman kneeling in an isle looking at some item. Something fell and crashed to the floor making a very loud noise. We happen to be standing beside this kneeling woman at the time. My immediate response was “JESUS!” I am so thankful that I have Jesus on mind enough that His name is my go to response. Whether that be in great joy, great sorrow, unexpected excitement or just quite moments alone.

    JESUS!

  12. Now they had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. And Jesus ordered them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod!” So they began to discuss with one another about having no bread. When he learned of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Have your hearts been hardened? Though you have eyes, don’t you see? And though you have ears, can’t you hear? Don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Twelve.” “When I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Seven.” Then he said to them, “Do you still not understand?” -Mark 8:14-21 NET

Sometimes we get so caught up in our carnal lives, that we lose sight of our spiritual life. Just as the disciples were to busy discussing the problem, instead of praising God for what He could have done!

We can’t allow our flesh to cover our eyes, block our ears, or confuse our judgment/mind.

Our God is greater then any problem or circumstance. Praise Him instead of trying to “Problem Solve”.

  13. 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

This is not the time to be ashamed and worried what others may think of you and your faith in Christ. There is nothing in this world that would make me want to exchange my soul and my eternity for it; nothing is worth having my God deny me.

  14. 34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

What is worth your soul? That new car that new home. There is nothing on this earth that is worth it. Lay your treasure up in heaven not here on earth

  15. Leaven

    Mark 8:15 (KJV Strong’s)
” 15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.”

Webster defines Leaven as 1 a : a substance (as yeast) used to produce fermentation in dough or a liquid ; especially : sourdough b : a material (as baking powder) used to produce a gas that lightens dough or batter 2 : something that modifies or lightens

There are two leavens we are warned to be aware of that of Herod, and that of the Pharisees.

The leaven of Herod is people pleasing. When Herodias daughter danced before him seductively he foolishly offered her anything she wanted.

    Mark 6:25-26 (Weymouth New Testament)
” 25 The girl immediately came in, in haste, to the King and made her request. “My desire is,” she said, “that you will give me, here and now, on a dish, the head of John the Baptist.” 26 Then the King, though intensely sorry, yet for the sake of his oaths, and of his guests, would not break faith with her.”

He knew it was wrong, it was sin, and it was against God but because he wanted to please the people he had this righteous man of God killed.

    Instead please God
    1 Thessalonians 4:1 (KJV Strong’s)
” 1 Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.”

    Hebrews 11:5 (KJV Strong’s)
” 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

The Leaven of the Pharisees is entertainment driven.

    Mark 8:11-12 (KJV Strong’s)
” 11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. 12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.”

    Matthew 12:39 (KJV Strong’s)
” 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:”

The word entertainment means to Hold the mind.

An entertainment mindset gets us focused on pleasure of self and not of God. It demands our focus and attention.

Instead of seeking entertainment, seek relationship.

1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (Weymouth New Testament)
” 22 Seeing that Jews demand miracles, and Greeks go in search of wisdom, 23 while we proclaim a Christ who has been crucified–to the Jews a stumbling-block, to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who have received the Call, whether Jews or Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

Colossians 3:1-3 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
“1 IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.
3 For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Once we allow people pleasing or an entertainment mentality in it pervades the entirety of our lives. Then just like leaven it modifies, or lightens our beliefs, convictions in God.

  16. ‘You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? (‭Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭18‬ NLT)

When you need help, you complained. Why don’t you remember what God did.

  17. Follow Me
    Mark 8:34
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross , and follow me.

The people shows that this teaching is not limited to the present disciples, but extends to all who would serve Jesus.

8:34 -9:1 Jesus teaches how to follow Him and why.

Luke 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

  18. Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. (‭Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭34-35‬ NLT)

It’s quite interesting how the Holy Ghost opens your eyes to see how people are very selfish in this generation. What many don’t realize is that by receiving the Holy Ghost God reveals that He will supply all our needs. Let’s focus on working with God on reaching the lost.

  19. 10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

You cannot tempt the Lord God into working miracles in your life. God does not need to prove Himself.

  20. My God is More Than Enough and always provides!

We find two instances referenced in this chapter today where He took bread and fishes, and not only feed 4,000 and 5,000 people with that and some fishes, but they also took up baskets of leftovers.

When the women whose daughter was vexed with a devil came to Jesus, she was willing to take the “crumbs” that fell from the Master’s table because she knew that even the crumbs were powerful.

God is our provider! He will make a way where there is no way, and cause us to have more than what we need!

  21. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Everything in the world is only temporary. We do not need to let all of our time be consumed by the things of this world. But rather spend our time in the kingdom of God, doing the work of God.

  22. NO SHAME IN THE 6TH MIRACLE

GOD is on time and GOD is more than enough to supply the need. The situations that we tend to fret over are the testimonies that we should shout over. We should publish them for all to see and hear. When we testify of our LORD JESUS and Preach the Gospel to the poor we are partakers in the 6th Miracle.

When we Preach the Gospel to the poor we also express our FAITH in JESUS as we brag on HIM through Praise and adoration. Do not be ashamed of your testimony in Christ JESUS and we are guaranteed that he will not be ashamed of us.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iPreach
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  23. 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Hallelujah Jesus!!! Such a powerful verse…we can’t be ashamed in who we serve! He is our everything! People worry so much about all these things that are happening in the world when they should be having their eyes and trust on Jesus!!! Let us go and reach the lost!!! We all need Jesus, he is our provider, healer, alpha, omega, protector, deliver. I will praise your name always Jesus!

🎤🎧🎵 Because of who you are I give you glory
Because of who you are I give you praise
Because of who you are I will lift my voice and say,
‘Lord, I worship you because of who you are.

    Jehovah Jireh, my provider
Jehovah Nissi, Lord you reign in victory
Jehovah Shaalom, my prince of peace
And I worship you because of who you are!

    Jehovah Rapha, you’re my healer
    Jehovah Shammah, always with me
    Jehovah Sabaoth, strong deliverer

And I worship you because of who you are’ 🎤🎧🎵

  24. 18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

How easy is it to forget the miracles of God? The disciples lived these miracles, they were a part of them. The most recent being just a few verses before. If the disciples who walked, talked, and learned at Jesus feet could so easily forget then it’s a very real possibility for us to if we are not careful. We are not exempt. We need to keep the things of God in remembrance to build our faith.

  25. Aware of their discussion Jesus asked them. Why r u talking about having no bread? Do u still not c or understand are ur hearts hardened? Do u have eyes but fail to c and ears but fail to hear? And don’t u remember when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand how many Baskerville of pieces did u pic up? Twelve they replied .

  26. 18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

I can only imagine his frustration. These men were there to witness everything and yet they still didn’t understand! Sometime I feel like we are just like that!! My God help us Jesus, help us to understand what you are saying to the church and to each one of us

  27. And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread. (‭Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭16‬ KJV)

They reasoned among themselves. Wow! What a message! They couldn’t understand because they didn’t lean on his understanding, but rather thought it would be better if they came up with the answer themselves.

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭30‬ KJV)

Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding? (‭Job‬ ‭28‬:‭20‬ KJV)

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ KJV)

God help me to lean on your understanding without questioning.

  28. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
What are we working for ourselves or Jesus?I know we have to work and make a living here on this earth, but does that mean that I don’t have time for Jesus, if it does our priorities are not in the right place!! At the end if our journey, what we have done for Jesus is going to be all that counts! He is not going to be looking at how high we made it up in the world but if we gave ourselves to him completely !!

  29. Multitude !!!! 2. I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat: 3. And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far. 4. And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? 5. And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. 6. And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciplesto set before them; and they did set them before the people. 7. And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. 8. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets. 9. And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away. I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!! YOU REIGN !!!!! YOU ARE OUR ONLY HOPE !!!!!

  30. 34, “And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself (to do without desired things or to abstain from), and take up his cross, and follow me.”

Gal. 5:24-25 says, “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

When we come to JESUS, we must deny ourselves (crucify this old flesh which is full of desires, affections, and lusts and abstain from them). We need to take up our cross, be like JESUS, and become His disciples (follow Him).

Bishop Foster taught us about being a disciple this past Tuesday.
The question was: What is a disciple? The answer: The process of becoming what Jesus would be if he were you. AND he also taught us 4 things we need to catch to be a disciple. 1) Consistantly HEAR from God through the Word of God everyday. Read God’s Word everyday! 2) We need to PRAY everyday. 3) We need to DISCOVER our GIFTS and SERVE others. 4) We need to BRAG on JESUS. Share the good news of the Gospel and tell others what he has done for us.

LORD, help me to deny myself, take up my cross, and follow you everyday!!

  31. “For thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.” Peter believed what he had stated and determined to do was right, however the Lord (Jesus); “rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan”. Regardless of what one may believe or feel is right, the correct thing to do is obey the word of God (Jesus). What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  32. Jesus did not want to send the multitude away hungry. The disciples weren’t sure how he was going to feed so many people. The thing about Jesus is he loved people and he truly cared for them. We must be like our father were our love for people encourages us to always have a word for them and not send them away hungry. God has given us power that we have the ability to do all things through him.

  33. Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it. But whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospels, the same shall save it.

  34. Come Out

Jesus had spoken about the hardness of the hearts of those in the area, how they sought a sign. Yet in the midst of a town Jesus seemed to not plan on staying at to do miracles, He found an exception. A blind man sought a miracle and wasn’t coming for a sign, but Jesus had a few more steps for Him than just a miracle. Those who were blind in that day were beggars, lowly and outcast in society.

He was already “on the fringe” in that society, but was he truly willing to leave behind the hard heartedness of his community to seek Jesus? Was his desire for the Lord enough to come out from the safety of what he knew? As a blind man, he likely had memorized his surroundings so he could navigate where he needed to go even if he didn’t have a guide. But following Jesus required coming out from the known and into the unknown. Jesus called him out, and he responded.

His miracle awaited on the other side of coming out from the atmosphere of doubt, unbelief, pride, and familiarity. In leaving the atmosphere of spiritual blindness in his community, he could find not only spiritual sight but natural as well. His two-part miracle seems to point to this two-part conversion from blindness to sight.

And Jesus followed up with the miracle by telling the man to not go back. We cannot go back to an attitude of spiritual pride and blindness and expect to walk in the reality of God’s Kingdom. When Jesus calls us out, He calls us to Him, and to remain in Him.

    John 15:4-8
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

  35. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

This man had so much trust in Jesus that he did not resist nor complain about being spit upon. He knew Jesus was the healed and had upmost trust in him. The disciples should have had this same trust in Jesus when they found they had forgotten to bring food onto the boat. I believe we can get so distraught in the situations of our lives that we can completely overlook that the miracle maker is in our midst. Jesus is our provider, healer, deliverer- he is our strength, hope & joy! Whatever you need today, just ask!

  36. Cost and Value

When we think to buy something at the store a good steward would weigh the value of the item by the cost to see if it was the best by or not. This represents also every decision that we make in our lives. Time is the most valuable thing that a human being possesses on the earth. So the things that we spend our time on should represent a great value. Jesus is saying hear that you can give every bit of your life or time to him and the reward is of the most value. The value is that this life is but a vapor but the life that you gain is eternal. The value of this transaction is unmatched by this world. We will never be able to realize the cost of our eternity but we will be able to enjoy its value.

It is time for the church to step out and not be ashamed of this gospel. If our community understood the true value of the cross they would be flooding our churches. This means that the only reason that they are not flooding the church is that we have failed to translate the goodness and reward of the kingdom. We have to first understand the value of the gospel and then sell it to all that will listen.

Help us Lord to witness more effectively and to truly give our lives for the kingdom.

  37. 9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

Two small fishes and bread feed thousands. This reminds me that two words from God can feed thousands. “Be healed” “Be delivered” Be victorious” The great thing is God uses our mouth to speak those words into the lives of others.

  38. 19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?

He is the great provider. I can recall many times in my life where I was in need. And God always came through. Don’t lose the faith my friends. He is there. He knows the very number of hairs on your head. How then do we think tgat he doesn’t know our needs. Be encouraged and know that he is God the provider.

  39. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (‭Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭36-37‬ NKJV)

So what happens when your rich? What happens when you have the cars and girls and the big house you ever wanted? You have the best career making all the money you want. You have all this rich and famous status. You make the poor feel useless.
You laugh at the “peasants” that follow Christ.

But really the joke is on you.

You die and you walk up to JESUS on the day of judgment and JESUS says

    “What’s your name?”

Gain the whole world. And JESUS has to ask you what’s you name…at that moment you will finally realize you life was a waste. Casted into the pits of hell.

  40. 11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

So many of us are looking for a sign from God, for him to do something spectacular in front of our eyes for us to believe in him or believe what he has to say. But sometimes God is saying “Do you love me? And do you trust me?” Because we can’t have a relationship in God if we don’t trust him and his word that he will take care of us. And sometimes all we need to do is look in his word for the answers that we are looking for. That’s why we need to diligently seek him, for you ask, he shall provide… just maybe not in the way you would expect.

  41. 12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation
Why does it seem so hard to trust that God’s got a plan for us and he is got it under control. Oftentimes we seek God for some sign to make our selfish mind feel confident in what were doing is going to lead us on the right path. Our confidence should be in God not in our flesh.

  42. Mark Chapter 8
    OCTOBER 9, 2014

JESUS today YOU will SAVE me.

    Eat This Book

Love Jesus with your whole heart and soul. Follow him and serve him. Be sincere About God’s business . Shine for Jesus Christ as you disciple to the unbelievers, your testimony will draw unbelievers to Jesus. Your faith will touch lives who have little or no faith. Tell the good news to everybody.

  43. 5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.

6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.

    Giving… Devine math
Sometimes this can be one of the areas where men lack to trust The Lord much. The thing is that we have to stop looking at with logic and man’s eye. God’s math is not ours. What we give he multiplies. All we have to do at times and let it go from our hands into His hands and He will bless it and multiply it. And pick up baskets full. We see here that with what the had and gave to The Lord they received a blessing that could not be contained in their hands but picked up 7 baskets of fragments.
God’s math is amazing. He says 1+1+1=1
What many would say; Father, Son and Holy Ghost, God, our Lord Jesus says it = 1 🙂 amazing! Devine math 🙂
