Mark 10

1 And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.

2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.

3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?

4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.

5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.

11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.

21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?

27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him,

33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?

37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.

38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.

42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

  1. 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

The word ransom can be used as a noun or a verb and in both ways Christ gave it all for you and I to be set free from sin. Sin held us as slave, kidnapped from His Grace, imprisoned by the devil; but now He Pay The Ransom…

    noun
    1. the redemption of a prisoner, slave, or kidnapped person, of captured goods, etc., for a price.
    2. the sum or price paid or demanded.
    3. a means of deliverance or rescue from punishment for sin, especially the payment of a redemptive fine.
    verb (used with object)
    4. to redeem from captivity, bondage, detention, etc., by paying a demanded price.
    5. to release or restore on receipt of a ransom.
    6. to deliver or redeem from punishment for sin.

THANK YOU JESUS FOR BEING MY REDEEMER, FOR BRINGING ME TO YOUR TRUTH. FOR NO ONE COMES EXCEPT WHEN THE SPIRIT DRAWS THEM. DRAW OTHERS OH LORD, DRAW THEM WITH YOUR SPIRIT, LEAD THEM TO POFW. IN JESUS NAME AMEN.

  2. 1 ….. the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.
Wont- likely to do something : having a tendency to do something
Jesus was likely to teach the people at every opportunity that he had. To be like Jesus we should take every chance we get to proclaim to Jesus to those we meet.

  3. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. (‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭49-52‬ KJV)

A blind man had heard of Jesus, he believed, had faith, he asked, and he received!

Many times we wait, and wait. Yet we receive nothing! It’s not that The Lord doesn’t hear your prayer. It takes faith in The Lord in order for you to receive your miricale. We all have been given a measure of faith, activate it!

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. (‭Matthew‬ ‭21‬:‭22‬ KJV)

  4. And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. -Mark 10:44
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. -Mark 10:45

Ministry is about service, The Lord has called us to serve.

He must increase, but I must decrease. -John 3:30

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. -Matthew 20:28

The question today is, are we ready to give ourselves a ransom so that others may live?

Ransom – the redemption of a prisoner, slave, or kidnapped person, of captured goods, etc., for a price.

When we give ourselves to the cause of Christ we rescue others from the prison of sin.

  5. 19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

When you follow Jesus, if he were to ask you, are you willing to give up everything to go and follow him wherever he goes? It can be hard question and something all of us need to look at ourselves and truly evaluate if we wanna do that. For it is not a decision that we should take and do on a whim but be ready to take a step of faith into his arms.

But when you really and truly want to follow Jesus, all those other things in this world that distract you won’t matter to you anymore. When you put God in your life, they were be bumps in the road, but he will reward your sacrifice you made for him and do things in your life you won’t even imagine.

  6. THE CRY AND THE CALL

This passage of scripture has always inspired me to cry out to GOD. To know that the LORD will consider the cries of an unknown blind man, gives me hope that he will HEAR my CRY as well.

We must first be willing to identify boldly the LORD. JESUS the son of David. Then we make our request; have MERCY on me. With a relentless desire and tenacity to get HIS attention we CRY, even to the discomfort of those around us.

CRY OUT unto the LORD until he HEARS you. The CRY got JESUS attention.

JESUS then called the blind man. In those days it was unlawful for a blind man to enter the temple and worship, in this case the TEMPLE came to the blind man. LORD JESUS, I pray we at The Pentecostals of Fort Worth never loose sight of the purpose of evangelism/outreach is to take the TEMPLE to the people.

Once the CALL is given by JESUS, the blind man laid aside or cast away his garment of blindness; there are some things; feelings, attitudes, habits, people that we will need to throw away in order to come to JESUS.

After loosing his garment, he AROSE, we must get up out of the mess, arise from the pit, get up out of our defeat and come to JESUS.

NOW is the time to follow JESUS.

Many people believe that the Old Testament principles and teachings were done away with in the New Testament. There are others that believe if Jesus didn’t say it, it is not important, or not for us. However, right here in this scripture when asked a question, Jesus defers the answer to the Old Testament, “What did Moses command you.”

God is a God of order and principles. He cannot and will not violate His commands, nor will He confuse them. His Word is forever settled in Heaven.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

We must not just recieve our miricle and go our own way. We must continue to follow God. Lord help me to always follow you no matter what comes my way.

  10. 43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:

The most successful leaders are the most dedicated servants.

  11. 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

This man reminds of a lot of people he wanted to follow Jesus and lived a good life, but never wanted to give anything up. He kept things in his heart that he could not keep. Then when Jesus told him what he had to do he left sorrowful. Many people leave sorrowful after they find out what they heave to do to live for God.
There is but one God and one way to heaven. Repent, be baptized in the bane of Jesus Christ, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

  12. NLT 7 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, 8 and the two are united into one. Since they are no longer two but one, 9 let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

Not only is it in the old testament, but its here in the new testament. Marriage is between a man and woman. Also, let no one split them apart. If a marriage allows the spirit of division to slowly creep into their relationship, trouble begins and the relationship starts to crumble. The importance communication, laughter, joy, peace, praying and worshiping together brings unity to a marriage and family.

  13. iLove to eat the Word

5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
    7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one.

This scripture is great for the following reasons…Jesus lays down the statement and establishes the fact that if you really want to know the will of God, then read from the beginning…Ha! This settles alot of things…

One God, one man, and one woman= one baby… TWO SIMPLE.

  14. Lose it.
    Matthew 10:39
He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.

In either case one must lose their life. It can be for worldly pleasures and self desire or for spiritual things and a desire from God.

Time is a resource we can never get back. Once it is used, it’s gone. Whatever we give our time too is what we lose our life too. Let’s devote our time to Christ and lose our lives for his sake. Let him be the beat of our hearts.

  15. Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” (‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭46-49‬ NLT)

I find it interesting that people that surrounded the man with a need yelled at him to keep quiet, no one wanted to hear the problems of another person. But when the need caught Gods attention the people viewed the man differently and were kind. How many people have this same selfish attitude when it come to other peoples needs? We are here to help serve, not condemn.

  16. 28-31
    We who have left everthing.
We can not out give God. What ever we give up for his sake we will receive back multiplied. Even if what we surrender is family the relationship we build with God will be better.

  17. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
How does people say its okay to be with same sex marriage when it clearly says God created male and female. We are living in a deceived world it’s time we better know what’s right and wrong. Fusion: don’t go running to other people about your marriage go to each other. Wife needs to be there for husband and husband needs to be there for wife. Lift each other up don’t tear each other down.

  18. 29. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

    30. But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Don’t think that your sacrifices have gone unnoticed; God sees every one of them and He is faithful to reward what has been done for Him.

  19. 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

This example in the bible reminds me of when we ask God to show us what’s in us that shouldn’t be, and when he does were not willing to give up whatever it may be. This man in the bible was living right but he couldn’t give away his things to people in need. He was too in love with his earthly good. He was more willing to gain the world and lose his soul.

  20. Mark 10:35-38
    James and John’s Request

When you’re praying for something specific, be encouraged. Today God may say “Yes.” Then again, He may say “Wait awhile. ”
But if He says “no”, remember that truly our heavenly Father knows best!

  21. 51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Ask and you shall receive. The God that made the heavens is our father. So why is it so hard for us to ask? Sometimes all we have to do is believe and ask. That’s it.

  22. 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Its not how you start, or even how you run the race that is the main issue. The main issue is how you finish. This man ran to Jesus. He no doubt was bound, and determined to give his life to Jesus. He probably had heard of the miracles, signs, and wonders. He probably saw the disciples, and heard of his fame so now he runs to Jesus to become one of them.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
    (Matthew 24:13 KJVStrongs)

Yes run, but also endure. Face the challenges, take the opportunities, and keep going. Every sacrifice is worth it, and will not go unrewarded.

  23. Made New

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

When Jesus calls us to Him, He calls us to step into His reality. These verses made me think of how some afflictions of the flesh will not pass until we leave life on this earth to go be with Jesus for eternity. Yet even “lifelong” afflictions cannot remain through eternity if we make heaven our home. The sorrows and pains of this life will be cast off as a garment and in the twinkling of an eye we will be changed. As born again believers, Jesus makes us new; and we will taste the fullness of that newness when we enter eternity with Him. No affliction of this life could compare to the glory that awaits.

    Romans 8:18
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

  24. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (‭Mark‬ ‭10‬:‭43-45‬ KJV)

Ministry isn’t glamorous lights, adored attention or a well known name. It’s being a biggest and best servant of all. It’s taking the low road at times. It’s putting others before yourself. I have often heard a very true statement,  “Leaders surrender privileges.” Servanthood is one of the keys to becoming a good shepherd.

And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it. And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing. (‭Ezekiel‬ ‭34‬:‭23-26‬ KJV)

  25. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

He received his sight and followed jesus. Before people will follow Jesus we need to receive our sight. Scales canbe removed. If we want to see, God will open our eyes. As we reach into our community we need to pray that people will receive their sight.

  26. True Love and holiness

There is no one in their right mind that would sell everything and follow someone to their death unless they really knew that the return on their investment would be far greater than what they gave to begin the journey. The true riches of God are found in unshakable faith that declares what i give up in this world fails to compare to what I receive in the Kingdom of God.

    Paul said

    1 Colosians 10:20-23
20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devil

22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

    Luke 16:13

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

This is holiness. If you are on fire for God then the fire will consume you desire to cleave to the things of this world but rather walk away from them to be closer to God.

Jesus was asking for holiness from the man that ran to him that day. He was asking him if he could truly love him.

Greater love have no man than this…..

God made this struggle of flesh and spirit difficult to determine who truly loves him. No one wants to marry a bride that they are not sure that their love has bee proven.

Holiness separates us to be with him. It is the true test of love.

  27. 27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Amen! Such simple and powerful verse!!!! With God ALL things are possible not some or half BUT ALL THINGS !!!!!!! We have to see, talk, and walk like Jesus!!! Some things may seem unreal or that they may never change but WITH GOD there is light and hope! Thank you Jesus for your Word in you I TRUST JESUS!!!!!
Today is the day for a MIRACLE in Jesus Name !!!! 🙂

  28. Like a child. Oh to Be like a child. Ever learning. Trusting. Always looking for fun. Believing uninhibited and unrestrained. No filters. No worldly responsibilities.
Lord help me to be like a child.

  29. In this scripture, much was covered from health to wealth, and family. Jesus even took time to educate his disciples about placement in appropriate sitting arrangements. Wow, what a Mighty God we serve. He heals the sick, and preached about Marriage, and how divorce isn’t exceptable. He also taught about finances with the rich man. He said it plainly for him sell all that he had and to carry the cross. Do you see how Christ Jesus forknew his destiny before he bore the cross for us. He spoke it out into fruition. Just like using our faith unto manifestation. But we must enter in with the faith as a child without doubt or wavering. (Holdfast)….Just ask “Daddy” and believe and receive, and thank him for it. But use that Glorious Name……..the Name above all names……………..”JESUS”, Amen………..

  30. “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” One must first recognize that one needs God (Jesus), elsewise there is little hope. Such as was the case with Bartimaeus, which had no doubt that he needed Jesus; “Lord, that I might receive my sight”. Lord let me also see! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  31. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

“Up in his arms” a place of pertection, love, closeness, and correction.

  32. 51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

The Lord wants us to be specific when we ask Him. Sometimes we don’t see the prayer answered because simply we may not be asking with clarity, Or we ask amiss. Everyone has needs and yes He knows our needs even before we ask, but are we willing to confess and say that He is the solution, provision, healing, Bigger, than our desired need. A lost dream, broken family… It’s one thing to day; “Lord, my family needs you, to Lord, restore my family in unity, love and faith in you.

  33. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

No matter your circumstance God I is able to turn it all around. Your own faith can heal you. Thank you Lord for each and every miracle.

  34. Healed the blind man !!!! 46. And they came to Jer’-I-cho: and as he went out of Jer’-I -cho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bar- ti-mae’-us, the son of Ti-mae’-us, sat by the highway side begging. Matt. 20 :28 47. And when he heard that it was Je’-sus of Naz’-a- reth, he began to cry out, and say, Je’-sus, thou son of Da’-vid, have mercy on me. 48. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of Da;-vid, have mercy on me. 49. And Je’-sus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise, he calleth thee. 50. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Je’-sus. 51. And Je’-sus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52. And Je’-sus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Je’-sus in the way. matt. 9 : 22 Thank you for Mercy Lord !!! Thank you for healing !!! I AM VICTORIOUS THROUGH YOU JESUS !!!!
