Read Proverbs Chapter 13

Mark 12

1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.

6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.’

8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

11 This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.

14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar’s.

17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.

18 Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

22 And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?

36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

37 David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

40 Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

  1. Yes Lord
10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

Many have rejected the cornerstone unawares. OOOOOO BUT MY GOD, MY GOD, HE IS SOOOOOO GOOD HALELUJAH!!! HE IS SO FAITHFUL AND JUST!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!
    1 John 1:9 KJV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  2. 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

It is important to know the scriptures and study them because others will come to deceive us seeming to prove their points using scripture. through the power of the Holy Ghost we can stay focused on the truth of God.

  3. 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

The scriptures leading up to this is asking about whose wife will a woman be in heaven. Jesus trying to get his point across made it clear that these type relationships will not be in heaven. We will not marry or be given in marriage, but will be like unto the angels.
This is just an example of the minds of people and the traditions of men. We get caught up in traditions and fail to get the truth of the Word. One of the greatest faults of our day is no knowledge of the Word of God! Lord help us and teach us The Word where we may move forward in the kingdom of God. We do not need to err when it comes to truth. We need to follow the direct paths God wants us to follow.

  4. And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? -Mark 12:24

It is important that we know what the scriptures are saying to us.

It is upon the word of God that we build our lives. Everyday we should partake of it….. reading, studying and meditating on his word.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. -Psalms 19:7

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. -Psalms 19:8

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. -Hebrews 4:12

  5. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

To be obedient is greater than sacrifice; love the Lord, love your neighbor and remember there is only ONE God and His name is JESUS!!

  6. 28 One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself No other commandment is greater than these.”

When we truly love God, then the sacrifice and offerings will all happen in time. It will go from religion to relationship. When you truly love someone, you put their needs above your own, which is what Jesus is asking us. His Will not ours.
As we love our neighbors as our self, we will want to do anything in our power to ensure they are going to make it to heaven, not tear them down.

If we can fully commit to the the 2 greatest commandments, all the rest will fall into place.

  7. Verse 24 NLT ” Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.” It is important to know the Scriptures….not only read it; but study it and pray that God reveal it to you in a brand new light.

The end of the chapter verses 41-44 MSG ends with “…….One poor widow came up and put in two small coins—a measly two cents. Jesus called his disciples over and said, “The truth is that this poor widow gave more to the collection than all the others put together. All the others gave what they’ll never miss; she gave extravagantly what she couldn’t afford—she gave her all.”” As Pastor said last night, if all you have is seven pennies…….give it for the Lord sees the heart that you give it with.

  8. 38. And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

    39. And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

    40. Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

The purpose of prayer is not to get attention from men, but to get the attention of God. If everyone around us hears our prayer but it is prayed with the wrong attitude and intentions, God won’t receive it and we’ve wasted our time. On the other hand, if we pray with the right spirit and purpose, God will receive our prayer whether everyone heard it or no one heard it. This is why a prayer closet helps us, we can shut out everyone else and their opinions and get some one-on-one time with the Master.

  9. Penury

    Luke 21:3-4 (KJV Strong’s)
” 3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: 4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.”

Mark 12:44 days of her want, but Luke uses the word Penury.

Webster’s Dictionary defines penury as 1 : a cramping and oppressive lack of resources (as money) ; especially : severe poverty 2 : extreme and often niggardly(scant, meager) frugality

It wasn’t just that the woman gave the last bit that she had, but rather she knew she was already in a bind financially, she didn’t know where money was going to come from, and yet she gave.

Her lack of resources was cramping and oppressive. She no doubt had been in these straights for some time.

    Yet she gave.

We can never outgive God! Any anytime we give God will give to us!

  10. WHO GIVES MOST

This passage indicates that JESUS is watching in every service, who gives and how much. I do believe that JESUS is interested in the amount, to prove our obedience to HIS voice. However I believe he is more interested in our ATTITUDE in giving.

The widow gave ALL her living – Giving at this level displays the depth of our FAITH in GOD to provide and supply our needs.

The widow gave of her want – Giving out of WANT – DESIRE is the greatest level of love and commitment. When we are BLESSED we most often give of our abundance, we may give larger amounts of money in the offering, however we may not possess and display the proper attitude in giving. When we give something to GOD that we really want then it becomes a sacrifice.

WHO GIVES MOST – the individual who gives out of desire and gives from their necessity.

  11. 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Believe it. Receive it. Do it.

  12. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question. (‭Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭32-34‬ KJV)

  13. Jesus Sees What We Give.

The simple faithfulness of this “poor widow” stands in stark contrast to the self-centered, self-seeking ambition of the scribes. Most of this chapter was related to the efforts of the scribes to “catch” Jesus in saying the wrong thing. In a chapter filled with trickery; Jesus changes the focus to the offering plate.

In this lady we find a marvelous example of one who “loves the Lord her God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength”; which Jesus declared in this chapter is the most important commandment. The widow gave of what she needed not what she wanted. When we give with what we need there is sacrifice. If there is no sacrifice in our giving, what are giving of? Of the three areas of giving (time, talent and treasure) are giving from the surplus or the indispensable?

  14. 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

    Hosea 4:6
” My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:
    because thou hast rejected knowledge,
I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me:
seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God,
I will also forget thy children.”

Here it is again, an echo of last nights message. A reminder to get in the word of God and acquire some knowledge. To prevent destruction we need to study to show ourselves approved. God has given us knowledge at our fingertips, we need to take the initiative to partake of it.

  15. 29 Jesus said, “The first in importance is, ‘Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; 30 so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.’ 31 And here is the second: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that ranks with these.” MSG
We are to love one another and build up one another not tearing down each other. When you see a brother/sister down don’t tear them up with negative talking lend a helping hand and let them know you are there. Pray for them.

  16. NLT 24 Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.

The importance of knowing who God is. If you know God, you know he is our creator of all things, the healer, and our savior. If we know very little, then the doubts will come in and tell you, God is not real. One can easily be influenced, if you dont know how to respond when asked about God. We should always be ready to give an answer, be a witness and give a testimony.

  17. “Not far from the kingdom… ”

And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

    Luke17:21

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you

It would be a shame to have knowledge of the Word of God but never plant the Word with In our life to have a life obeying the word.

The Bible says the scribe “answered discreetly” or wisely. He was wise in the mosaic law yet fail to decern who was right before his eyes. The one who will die that the kingdom could be within.

It would be easy to judge because we can read the Bible front to cover and know what he is missing. Yet many live their lives just as far from the kingdom as he which is standing at The door of the kingdom never entering in our entering into a knowledge of and never becoming fully engaged in and out.

  18. 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

There is only One God, One Faith, and
    One Baptisim!

  19. 24, “And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God.”

It is for sure, that if we don’t READ and STUDY the Word of God and know the scriptures, we will never know the true power of God.

  20. 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
this commandment makes all the difference to those who claim to be Christians. This commandment proves who is truly giving God everything or just giving lip service. If you truly love God with everything in you He will always be first in your life and nothing will stop you from serving him and giving of your Time, Talent and Treasure

  21. Investing : An Eternal Retirement Plan

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

It is easy to relate to the physical giving of money, and how some give a little, and others much, but, what about the spiritual?

These men which gave were rich, having much knowledge of Christ and pranced around, spouting off to the lost souls where they lived some here and there, but not fully investing into the lost around them. The poor ( remember as Pastor taught poor- as poor in spirit, maybe even not having much Jesus) woman, not having much to offer, but knowing the plan of salvation, and a couple scriptures, is leading every souls she can to Christ and teaching all the Home Bible studies she can, just to go home hungry, maybe getting to eat a peanut butter sandwich…

How many of us invest, fully invest in His Kingdom???

  22. “And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.” They were upset with Jesus (God) to the point they would sin (murder), to avoid hearing more. One would be wise to hear what sayeth the Lord (Jesus) while one can, and while one still has time to change. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God. (‭Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭24‬ NLT)

We suffer greatly if we don’t know the scriptures and know the power of God. The more we increase presonal and intimate relationship with Chirst the more knowledge and understanding we gain.

Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.

So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books. (‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3-9‬ MSG)

My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children. (‭Hosea‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬ NLT)

  24. 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

Just like elder Tallant shared the word with us last night we must get knowledge, we need to know the word, we need to Jesus. He is the way the truth and the life.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  25. 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

After resurrection people are to belong to their Maker their bridegroom, Jesus. Though many will be wounded and killed like the prophets before us, we too shall rise from the dead. We will have no ties to this world, not even marriage. Our destiny will be an eternity in heaven.

  26. 41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living

That is how He makes us feel. To love the Lord and honor Him with our tithe and know that even though we don’t know how we are going to feed our children we do know that He will always take care of us. He is the Way maker.

  27. 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Jesus help us to love like you love in Jesus name

  28. 28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

PRAISE GOD HE IS ONE & HIS NAME IS JESUS!!!!!!
I don’t understand why people must complicate the word of God. He made it simple it means what it says. The God of Israel is ONE GOD. To love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. STOP THE RITUALISTIC RELIGION love one another, respect one another as you would yourselves when men as a whole begin doing this there will be no violence, thieves, murders, abuse, etc. If we all will treat each other the way we like to be treated life will be so much simpler and peaceful; but men live in nonconformity, vanity, jealousy, coveting the neighbor, etc. That drives them to kill, steal, cheat, lie, which leads to spiritual and physical eternal death. OPEN YOUR EYES, REPENT NOW IS THE TIME, TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION.

  29. for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” (‭Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭44‬ NKJV)

Gods does see the sarifices we give. Not only in offering but how much we give or time and talents to his kingdom.

  30. 18-27
Sadducess members of a religious party that dinies the supernatural try to ridicule Christs affirmation of the resurrection. They fail uterly as Jesus shows to understand the scriptures they supposedly honor.

  31. 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

It’s not just how much you give to God that he is looking for, but how much we give according to the measure of our faith. Are we giving what comes easy to us… or are we giving more, believing that God will provide us? Because he will prove to every one who gives, that he will provide for all our needs.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Luke 6:38 Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

  32. “Well, then,” Jesus said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” His reply completely amazed them. (‭Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭17‬ NLT)

Give what belongs to God. Cause that is Gods money

  33. iLove to eat to eat the Word

7 “But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.’

This has been the attitude of satan all along, even since the time that he was cast out of heaven. The devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He hated the heir to the garden of Eden, he hated Isaac, and he hates the heirs of salvation today.

The truth of the matter is however, it doesn’t matter how much the enemy hates you, what really matters is how much do we love the Master. His love casts out all fear and the power of the enemy is rendered of no effect.

  34. 1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

  35. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

“And to love him with all the heart” says so much. Someone once said that “we please the ones we love”. We can’t just say we love..it’s our actions that speak louder than words anyway. What we doing that says we love Jesus? Giving, teaching, going, helping…all these things done for the gospels sakes says I love Him.

  36. People before religion

7 But if you had known what this means, ‘ I desire compassion, and not A sacrifice, ’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
    (Matthew 12:7 NASBStr)
    – that is, Had ye understood the great principle of all religion, which the Scripture everywhere recognizes– that ceremonial observances must give way before moral duties, and particularly the necessities of nature– ye would have refrained from these captious complaints against men who in this matter are blameless. But our Lord added a specific application of this great principle to the law of the sabbath, preserved only in Mark:”And he said unto them, the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath” (Mr 2:27). A glorious and far- reaching maxim, alike for the permanent establishment of the sabbath and the true freedom of its observance
    (Matthew 12:7 JFB)

Our Lord taxes the Pharisees both with ignorance of the Scriptures, in which they pretended to be very knowing, and took upon them to be the interpreters of; and with inhumanity, for condemning innocent persons, the apostles, for rubbing a few ears of corn, for the refreshment of nature; which they would never have done, had they understood the word, and will of God; who prefers acts of humanity, compassion, and mercy, to the observance of rites and ceremonies; or had they the common affections of human nature, and those bowels of compassion which one man ought to show to another. -John Gill

It behooves us to show compassion. Love people.

  37. Knowing Jesus

Jesus spoke of knowing Him as the one and only God and loving Him rightly as being a single command. We often pull out only part of that and say the First Command is simply to love God, but it is incorrect to separate it from knowing Him. I think of the great deception of Trinitarianism and how it attacks the very foundation of a believer’s ability to know God and walk with Him.

Jesus speaks strongly here when He declares: “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord…” He gives knowing Him as foundation for loving Him. The religious of the day when Jesus walked among the Jews had tried to separate the First Commandment and put so much focus on “loving God” through keeping the Law and “God-pleasing” traditions that had been passed down that they completely missed knowing Jesus, which meant ultimately they missed truly loving Him and others.

Jesus taught the multitudes, did many miracles, and supplied many needs, but we find that people had special encounters with Him when there was opportunity for Him to reveal the truth of not just *what* He did but *Who* He was. He tied this to eternity with Him, and brought this out in particular at one point when talking with the Disciples:

    Matthew 16:13-19
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

  38. 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

    Everything else will follow.

    1 Corinthians 13;1-4,13
1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

If you love God and humanity your good will follow.

  39. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (‭Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭29-30‬ KJV)
Jesus himself said that there was one God! Not that there was a father/son/Holy Ghost trinity, but there was one Lord and that he should be first. We should make sure that we follow Jesus’s commands because that is important!

  40. v 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living ye therefore do greatly err

    Romans 8:6-8
For to be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

  41. and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

During a service this is exactly what We did gave everything we had. While the preacher was preaching the spirit was just moving inside me and telling me to give everything I had and to just trust in him. When my husband tells me God is telling me to give everything we have so that is when I knew it was his will. Even though we were thinking about all these things like how are we gonna buy groceries or put gas. God was just telling us to trust in him and to not worry for I will take care of you so we listened to God and gave EVERYTHING WE HAD!!! And Hallelujah God is so good and faithful! He supplied our needs and MORE!!!! What he can do for one person he can do for anybody 🙂 so let’s have all our trust in him and listen to his voice.

  42. 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Jesus knew the widows sacrifice. This meant more to God than any other large giving because it was all she had. God knows your need and sacrifice and wIll not be overlooked.

  43. When we give God knows if its from our hearts or if we are just giving just because we have to. And he honors ones from our hearts but doesn’t really honor ones we just give.

  44. 24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

We must have the Word in us that we are not deceived or do not err.

They word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee Oh God!

  45. Render to Caesar! 13. And they send unto him certain of the Phar’-I-sees and of the He-ro’-di-ans, to catch him in his words. 14. And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Cae’-sar, or not? 15. Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it. 16. And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Cae’-sar’s. 17. And Je’-sus answering said unto them, Render to Cae’-sar the things that are Cae’-sar’s and to God the things that are God’s. And they marveled at him. I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!! THANK YOU FOR WAKING ME UP WITH THANKS AND PRAISE IN MY HEART !!!!!

  46. 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.❤️
