Luke 2

1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

  1. 32. A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

Thank You, Jesus, for being the Light to the Gentiles!!

  2. iLove to eat the Word

The promise of God that was finally performed.

We must stand on the promises of God until we see them come to pass. We believe that all things are possible, but what we really need to believe is that the days are close to the end and the process of prayer is going to speed up. In order to take the kingdom by force, we must be ready to receive now…

  3. “But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.” “But his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.” Only the Creator (Jesus) truly understands what is in the heart, of a true mother. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  4. MY DAILY PRAYER

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

There are many spiritual principals for success in the Kingdom of GOD. The lifestyle, attitude and personality that I have personally witness be of most value in gaining in GOD, is that of submission. As we submit ourselves and yield ourselves to those in authority over us we are able to grow in wisdom, stature and favor with GOD and thereby with man.

When we consider the cause of verse 52, what made this increase, or what caused it to happen?

51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

JESUS submitted his flesh to his mother, who had authority over him. Yes, JESUS was GOD and is really the authority to all things including his mother, however, as our example to live by, even JESUS (GOD in flesh) submitted to the authority of his mother while he was under her care.

We are wise to submit to authority, guaranteed growth through submission.

  5. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

I must do my Father’s business! I will do the work of The Lord.

  6. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

Thank you for what you done.

  7. Jesus is

    Luke 2:21 (KJV Strong’s)
” 21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.”

    The name Jesus comes from the Hebrew word (Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary) h3091. יְהוֹשׁוּעַ yehôšûa‘; or יְהוֹשֻׁעַ Yhowshua; from 3068 and 3467;

It combines two words. The first is Jehovah

(Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary) h3068. יְהוָֹה yhwh; from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; name of God: — the Lord. Compare 3050, 3069.
    AV (6519) – LORD 6510, GOD 4, JEHOVAH 4, variant 1; Jehovah = “the existing One”
the proper name of the one true Godunpronounced except with the vowel pointings of h0136

    The second is

(Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary) h3467. יָשַׁע yâša‘; a primitive root; properly, to be open, wide or free, i.e. (by implication) to be safe; causatively, to free or succor: — x at all, avenging, defend, deliver(-er), help, preserve, rescue, be safe, bring (having) salvation, save(-iour), get victory.
    AV (205) – save 149, saviour 15, deliver 13, help 12, preserved 5, salvation 3, avenging 2, at all 1, avenged 1, defend 1, rescue 1, safe 1, victory 1;
to save, be saved, be delivered
To be liberated, be saved, be deliveredto be saved (in battle), be victorious
(Hiphil)to save, deliverto save from moral troublesto give victory to

Literally it means Jehovah is the Savior.

I like this because not only does that mean Jesus is Jehovah, but Jehovah is Jesus, and everything we find in Jehovah we find in Jesus.

JEHOVAH-JIREH = Jehovah will see, or provide. Gen. 22:14.
JEHOVAH-ROPHEKA = Jehovah that healeth thee. Ex. 15:26.
    JEHOVAH-NISSI = Jehovah my banner. Ex. 17:15.
    JEHOVAH-MeKADDISHKEM = Jehovah that doth sanctify you. Ex. 31:13. Lev. 20:8; 21:8; 22:32. Ezek. 20:12.
    JEHOVAH-SHALOM = Jehovah [send] peace. Judg. 6:24.
    JEHOVAH-ZeBA’OTH = Jehovah of hosts. 1Sam. 1:3, and frequently.
    JEHOVAH-ZIDKENU = Jehovah our righteousness. Jer. 23:6; 33:16.
    JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH = Jehovah is there. Ezek. 48:35.
    JEHOVAH-ELYON = Jehovah most high. Ps. 7:17; 47:2; 97:9.
    JEHOVAH-RO’I = Jehovah my Shepherd. Ps. 23:1.

Jesus is all of this and more!

  8. Simeon had a promise from
God that he would not die untill he seen the Messiah.
A promise from God himself. Can’t get any better then that. To live for him and to look forward everyday for what he has in store for is so exciting!

Jesus I need you to save me today.

  9. 49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
Lord let me do your works! Give me a hunger for you Lord! Use me to do Your works. 🙂

  10. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

At 12 years of age Jesus astonished those that heard him and he began to prepare himself for doing the work of the father. We should strive everyday to be wiser and closer to the God and to have more knowledge of God. We are never to young to start to learn about God. We should take every advantage we have to grow in grace and wisdom of God. Lord help us everyday to be more like you.

  11. 51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Staying accountable leads to wisdom. So stay accountable

  12. 27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Simeon was lead by the Spirit to a divine appointment to meet Jesus, now a child. He was promised that he would not die without seeing Christ first. Simeon was a just man. A man of God who was of the temple. Church people have promises over their lives too. The only way we’ll see the fulfilled is if we continue in the Spirit. Our hearts have to be set on Jesus to hear when He calls which direction we should take.

  13. vss. 1 , 6 , &. 11
v 1 And IT came to pass in those days, that there went out a degree from Crasar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

We were all taxed with sin, but Praise the LORD . JESUS was able to redeem us with HIS own Blood!!!
    JESUS IS OUR REDEEMER !!!

JESUS WAS the WORD made flesh—
    GOD incarnate.
    Our DELIVERER And SAVIOUR. !!!!
v 6 And so it was , that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

v-11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

  14. Just as the angel spoke to the sheepherders, we too are here to announce to everybody, worldwide: A Savior was born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master.

Verses 13-14 MSG “At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.” Come let us sing, let us rejoice!

  15. Account

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

Joseph had to give account to the world concerning his birth. Likewise we should always be giving an account of our new birth in Christ. In that way, we reveal ourselves as citizens of His Kingdom and show the world what it is to be a child of God.

    Matthew 5:14-16
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

  16. The law fulfilled

And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (As their own city Nazareth. (‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭39‬ KJV)

Jesus didn’t come to break the law, but fulfill it. Sometimes we just don’t realize how easy it is for us to fulfill the laws of God.

  17. Do you know where to find him?

46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

The answer to this question begins in the places that you will not find him.

You will not find him in a place where there are no people.

    Luke 19:10
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

He will be with the people that are doing his business which is saving souls.

  18. There was also a prophet Anna the daughter of Penile of the tribe of Asher. She was very old she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage and then was a widow until she was eightyfour. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

  19. 25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

    36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

These passages made me think of the scriptures in Hebrews 12: 1-3
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

We are exhorted to take note of the great men & women of God who have gone before us, to lay aside the weights of this world and press for more of Him. The more of him I have the more I can give. We must be great men & women of God today – looking unto Jesus – for more.

  20. Jesus’s Birth 1. And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cae’-sar Au- gus’-tus, that all the world should be taxed. 2. ( And this taxing was first made when Cy-re’-ni-us was governor of Syr’-I-a. ) Acts 5 : 37 3. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4. And Jo’-seph also went up from Gal’-I-lee, out of the city of Naz’-a-reth, into Ju- dae’-a, unto the city of Da’-vid, which is called Beth’-le-hem; ( because he was of the house and lineage of Da’-vid: ) 1. Sam.16 : 1; Matt. 1 : 16 5. To be taxed with Ma’-ry his espoused wife, being great with child. 6. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. THANK YOU JESUS !!!! You are worthy of all praise !!!! I Glorify you !!!! ABBA FATHER !!!!

  21. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

There are no limits to how much you can grow in God. God is the Alpha and Omega. It all depends on if we are willing to go through the process. Accountability helps you grow. Being submitted and responsible will open doors.

  22. How would you like to see the completion of this word in your life or your spouse’s, and your children’s life. But, remember you will…..Jesus promised that a good work he begun in you, he will complete it. He won’t forsake the work of his hands, nor his covenant.

40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
    ________________________________________________________
Hmmm, 3 Days….I wonder if there is more to this verse than just an inquisitive young boy. Or is there any co-relation to “Tear down this temple, and in Three Days, he will raise it up again.” He also, was conversing with the Doctors, the well known intelligent people. I’m sure Jesus, was having very educated conversations with them, and being very thorough or investigative and having highly intelligent questions. That, most likely marveled or amazed these supposedly highly educated men. I believe, God likes messing with Man sometimes, just to put them in AWE. He can make wise the simple, and the weak the strong. But, I don’t advise surprising your Mom with a disappearance act. Unless, you are GOD, because it can have some serious ramifications. CHECK with GOD first, before trying that act.

46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
    _______________________________________________________
I only HOPE, that this Word would comes to pass in my LIFE………..It seems, sometimes, that I’ll never learn. It sometimes, seems I’m not learning because I seem to keep taking the same test over and over again. Do you think that God, is trying tell me something or what? Got to keep studying, if I’m persistent enough I’ll graduate or pass the test. Believe me, if you don’t pass that test. You’ll keep taking that TEST! I can only hear that verse, “Don’t lean on your own understanding!” My response is “No Problem”….I don’t seem to have any! Being a little humorous………

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

“Excuse the expression, but I Hope Jesus rubs off on me…I could use some WISDOM.” Definitely need my Daddy’s favour with him and man…

  23. Luke 2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

The sign was consistent with Old Testament precedent, in which God confirmed His works by a confirmatory sign. This helped authenticate the messianic proclamation of the angels, and would also strengthen Mary and Joseph in their assurance of the Lord’s continued blessing.

  24. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
