Luke 3

1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?

13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.

14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,

20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph,

25 Which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Amos, which was the son of Naum, which was the son of Esli, which was the son of Nagge,

26 Which was the son of Maath, which was the son of Mattathias, which was the son of Semei, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Juda,

27 Which was the son of Joanna, which was the son of Rhesa, which was the son of Zorobabel, which was the son of Salathiel, which was the son of Neri,

28 Which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Addi, which was the son of Cosam, which was the son of Elmodam, which was the son of Er,

29 Which was the son of Jose, which was the son of Eliezer, which was the son of Jorim, which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi,

30 Which was the son of Simeon, which was the son of Juda, which was the son of Joseph, which was the son of Jonan, which was the son of Eliakim,

31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David,

32 Which was the son of Jesse, which was the son of Obed, which was the son of Booz, which was the son of Salmon, which was the son of Naasson,

33 Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda,

34 Which was the son of Jacob, which was the son of Isaac, which was the son of Abraham, which was the son of Thara, which was the son of Nachor,

35 Which was the son of Saruch, which was the son of Ragau, which was the son of Phalec, which was the son of Heber, which was the son of Sala,

36 Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem, which was the son of Noe, which was the son of Lamech,

37 Which was the son of Mathusala, which was the son of Enoch, which was the son of Jared, which was the son of Maleleel, which was the son of Cainan,

38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

  1. King of kings, Lord of Lords, what a beautiful lineage!!!!!! Thank you Jesus for coming to earth and giving us freedom. Make your praise Big And Loud!!!!! Roar Judah Roar!!!!!!

  2. 7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

John is preaching for the people to be baptized unto repentance! He asked many who warned you to flee the wrath of God and reminding them if they want to be baptized to bring forth signs of repentance.
Everyone needs to repent, even if you are Abraham’s seed. Being of the seed of Abraham or an Israelite will not be enough to save you. You must repent and be baptized!
God is able to raise up someone even if he has to go to the Gentiles to find someone that will be willing to obey his Word.
My prayer everyday is God keep me from evil to do the work of God!!
Help me Lord to see me as you see me.

  3. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.” (‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ NLT)

A tree that is dead is no good. It has no use because it doesn’t do it’s job.

  4. Out in the desert John received a message from God. If you are in tune, within the frequency of God per say, you too can receive your message.

Verses 7-9 MSG “When crowds of people came out for baptism because it was the popular thing to do, John exploded: “Brood of snakes! What do you think you’re doing slithering down here to the river? Do you think a little water on your snakeskins is going to deflect God’s judgment? It’s your life that must change, not your skin. And don’t think you can pull rank by claiming Abraham as ‘father.’ Being a child of Abraham is neither here nor there—children of Abraham are a dime a dozen. God can make children from stones if he wants. What counts is your life. Is it green and blossoming? Because if it’s deadwood, it goes on the fire.”

Same verses AMP “So he said to the crowds who came out to be baptized by him, You offspring of vipers! Who [e]secretly warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 Bear fruits that are deserving and consistent with [your] repentance [that is, [f]conduct worthy of a heart changed, a heart abhorring sin]. And do not begin to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father; for I tell you that God is able from these stones to raise up descendants for Abraham. Even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees, so that every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.” It’s a complete 180 heart and life change from sin. As John explained to the people in the end of verses 16-17 MSG, it is Jesus who “….will ignite the kingdom life, a fire, the Holy Spirit within you, changing you from the inside out. He’s going to clean house—make a clean sweep of your lives. He’ll place everything true in its proper place before God; everything false he’ll put out with the trash to be burned.”

  5. No trinity here!!

Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God. (‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭38‬ KJV)

Thanking GOD for the blood! Lineage is important. You need to know where you come from, whom is who. And… ” who’s your DADDY”?!!
Attention, Israel! GOD, our God! GOD the one and only! (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬ MSG)

Listen, Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬ NET)

Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is the only true God! (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬ CEVDCUS06)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (‭Acts‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ KJV)

  6. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

In the presence of the Lord all shall praise Him and be made whole. Thank you Jesus, you are so awesome!

  7. John answered them all, “I baptize you with water, but one more powerful than I am is coming – I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. -Luke 3:16

Thank you Lord for the Holy Ghost and Fire.
I love the humbleness of John is this scripture, not only does he announce the coming of the Lord, he continues with how anointed Jesus is, and we aren’t even worthy to untie the strap of his sandal.

  8. 3:1 Several possible dates could be indicated by “the fifteenth year,” but the date a.d. 25–26 best fits the chronology of the life of Christ.
Pontius Pilate was the Roman governor of Judea from a.d. 26 to 36. His official residence was in Caesarea on the Mediterranean coast. In 1961 archaeologists unearthed a stone step in the Roman amphitheater in Caesarea contemporary with Pilate and bearing a Latin inscription that included his name. When he came to Jerusalem, he stayed in the magnificent palace built by Herod the Great, located southwest of the temple area. Mark called this palace “the Praetorium” (Mk 15:16; see the notes there and on Mt 27:27), and it was there that the Roman trial of Jesus took place.
;At the death of Herod the Great (4 b.c.), three of his sons — Archelaus, Herod Antipas and Herod Philip — were given jurisdiction over his divided kingdom.

  9. I’m so thankful today for a God that gave his life to save mine and yours. What are you going to worship today? The one true living God or are you gonna make you an idol to server? I want to serve the one and only true God. As John is telling them what they have to do one had to collect only what was due, if you have two coats give one away, someone is hungry feed them. How many of us are willing to go this extra mile. Where I work I see all kinds of people to homeless to very distrubed person……It makes me think of how God would of treated them, i say a prayer for each client i check in and you would be surprised how many will tell me that they know I am different and that I am a pentecostal ALL glory goes to God. Its nothing that I have done but its all God working inside me. God help us to listening when you whisper that small still voice for us to witness to someone today.

  10. 21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

    Amen.

  11. WORTHY FRUIT

8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Life is filled with opportunities and challenges. We are BLESSED to have the WORD of GOD to reflect on and use a reference. John did not have this powerful treasure to guide him. He relied purely on the words of the prophets and the guiding of the Spirit. Thankfully we also have access to these same resources along with the eternally recorded WORD of GOD.

Through prayer, the WORD of GOD and the words of the prophets (pastor, teacher, evangelist, apostle, prophet) in our lives we are sure to overcome any and every obstacle for the Kingdom of GOD sake and our eternal soul.

I pray we hear the WORD of the LORD and the words of the preacher and not only hear but also follow with obedience, thereby bringing forth fruits worthy of repentance. GODly sorrow for our past sins and holy commitments to live above the reproach of sin.

    The evidence:
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

True, thorough, sincere repentance should leave us asking what can we do to restore our relationship with GOD.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  12. HALELUJAAAAAAH!!!

    5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
FOR MAN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, BUT FOR MY GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, NOTHING IS TOO HARD, NOTHING CAN HIDE FROM HIM, THERE IS NO NOT ONE THING THAT HE DOES NOT KNOW!!! HE IS GREAT AND MIGHTY!!! JESUS IS HIS NAME!!! ONLY HE CAN MAKE THE CROOKED STRAIGHT!!! AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF MY LIFE!!! JESUS I PRAISE YOU!!! HALELUJAH!!! THANK YOU DADDY!!!
THANK YOU FOR THE PRODIGAL SONS AND DAUGHTERS!!! I SAW THEM DADDY, I SAW THEM, THEY ARE COMING!!! THANK YOU FOR THEIR LIVES, ALLOW US TO SERVE YOU IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH SO THAT WE MAY SHOW THE LOVE OF GOD ALWAYS!!! HALELUJAH!!!

  13. As we read here where you come from is important. But don’t let your past persuade your future. With God all things are possible. When we are ingraphted into the body of God then we have this past too. We come from praise. We are the children of God.

  14. Lower than a slave

    Luke 3:16 (KJV Strong’s)
” 16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:”

(Dake Study Bible Notes) Many of the ancient shoes were only soles with strings or thongs to tie around the foot. Unlatching shoes was considered a mark of respect on the part of a disciple to a master.

The level of respect John has for Jesus is astounding. Although he does not know yet who the Messiah is he already knows that when he comes he will be deserving of absolute respect and reverence.

It was customary for the servant to undo the master’s sandals. This showed devotion, and servitude. Jewish custom took this back to the meeting of Moses when he was commanded to remove his shoes because they were on holy ground.

In a home a foot washing would follow the removal of the sandal. John wouldn’t allow himself to do this because of how mighty he knew the Messiah was.

He knew that he must decrease so Christ would increase. He was passing a mantle to Jesus that he knew was only his temporarily.

John 1:27 (New Living Translation – NLT)
” 27 Though his ministry follows mine, I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal.””

(NKJV Study Bible Notes) 1:27 Undoing the sandal strap was the job of a slave. The Jewish Talmud says, “Everything that a servant will do for his master a scholar shall perform for his teacher, except the menial task of loosing his sandal thong.” Thus John was saying that “Jesus Christ is the living Lord and I am the voice, His servant and slave. Actually, I’m not even worthy to be His slave.”

He lowered himself so much he became less than a slave. He considered undoing the sandal as honorable but was willing to do all else.

  15. 8. Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Just saying that we repent is not enough; we have to live a repented life. Also, each one of us must repent for ourselves, no matter who our father is, or how far back our Pentecostal heritage goes.

  16. 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

We want people to ask us what shall we do to be saved. Then we can direct them to the Bible and show them where it says to Repent( a lot of times this is the problem, because this means not only to ask forgiveness for the things you have done but not doing them anymore)! Then we must be baptized in Jesus name and then He will fill us with the wonderful Holy Ghost that will give us the power to live an overcoming life! It will teach us love and compassion for others !! This is something that we have a hard time with! If we would study this out we may fined that we need to work on this area in our lives !! Lord help me with this! I want to please you in all things ! Thank God for my Pastor and his wife that teaches us truth!!!

  17. Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. (‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ NKJV)

Show that your life has changed that you have repented of your sin that Jesus had changed your life show by the way you live. Any body can be can be saved at one point. But are you going to do with that change? Are you going to go back to your old ways?
    Show by your fruit.

  18. Bryan the son of Jimmy, which was the son of Jack, which was the son of Aaron; that’s all I know. How far back does your family tree go? What does it matter?

    How does the song go…

    Father Abraham had many sons
Had many sons had Father Abraham
    I am one of them
    And so are you
So let’s just praise the Lord

Genesis 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

There were promises made. Luke is providing proof those promises are being fulfilled.

What has God promised you? Have we promised God anything? Could God be waiting on us to fulfill our promises before he fulfills His?

  19. 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Our repentance is judged by The Lord. Genuine repentance will produce fruit that is evident in actions and speech. Many people are moved by the emotion of the moment but go right back to doing or acting like what they repented of. In this chapter he laid an axe to that which did not produce the fruit of true repentance. Lord, let my actions and my speech portray fruit of true repentance.

  20. 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Salvation is not handed down from generation to generation, we must have a personal relationship with God. We do not need to rely on someone else’s faith for our salvation. We need to put our own faith in Jesus and then exercise that faith everyday.

  21. Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. (‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ NLT)

Everyone can see what you truly are living for. You will spend more time talking about it, thinking about it and being around it. God doesn’t want Luke warm saints, He wants people who are on fire for Him. When you love something a fire, a deep passion, will grow inside of you that’ll make you do things you would normally never do.

Repent, give your heart to God. That is the safest place for you to keep it.

  22. 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. -Isaiah 52:10

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. -Isaiah 45:22

  23. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

    5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

John was the voice in the wilderness crying prepare Ye the way of the lord before jesus ministry started on earth. But jesus is coming back again, where is the voice crying in the wilderness? I don’t believe this was just speaking about john in Jesus’ day. The bible declares that every knee shall bow and all shall confess that Jesus is God and that will happen when Jesus comes back. It also says that all flesh shall see the salvation of God, people will see the salvation of God in our own individual lives but then everyone will see when Jesus saves his children from the great tribulation. Where is the voice that is crying in the wilderness? The one that emphatically calls to those who do not know and warns them to get their heart right/ paths straight? The one that points and leads them to the only one who can raise their valleys, lower their mountains, and make their path straight? Where is the voice of the one here on earth before Jesus return? The voice is in the bride, the church of the one true living God. The voice is in me, and the voice is in you. The call to reach out to this world is sounding loud and clear.

    Luke 14:23
” And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

  24. If you do not bare forth good fruit you will be chopped down. People wonder why they never get anywhere in life. The fruit you put forth is what will keep you growing and going! Thank you Jesus for keeping your hand on me, whether it be gentle guidance or strong correction.

  25. Pay attention to the details.

17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

The Bible says he will “throughly purge his floor.” This lets us know what kind of efforts we should take to purge our lives from the things that will cause us to be considered the wheat and not the chaff. It is important that we pay attention to the details of our lives and align every aspect of our lives with the Word of God.

  26. 21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

    JESUS’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE!
In these verses God himself puts his ownership on His son Jesus Christ by declaring to that whole world. “This is my son” it was JESUS’S official birth certificate. he was know as Joseph’s son and that he was (in the flesh) but in the spirit He was the SON OF GOD!

  27. John answered them all. I baptize you with water. But not who is more powerful than I will come the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to unite. He will baptized you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

  28. 5, “Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;”
6, “And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”

God has made a way for all mankind to be saved. It is not his will that any man should be lost. 2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 1 Timothy 2:4 says, “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

Just as John the Baptist came preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins and telling the people that there was one mightier than himself who would baptize them with the Holy Ghost and fire, we too must GO and share the good news of the gospel (the plan of salvation) with the lost.

  29. v16 ” I indeed baptize you with water; but….
he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost
    and fire”

John began teaching repentance and baptism for every person. Repentance was a doctrine well- know to Isreal.

On the of Pentecost the ” cloven tongues like as of fire was a powerful sign to John’s disciples of the baptism of the Holy Ghost
    aa he had taught them.
He was truly a witness to mankind of the Lamb of GOD and the in filling of the Holy Ghost.

v21-22 ” IT came to pass, that JESUS also being baptize, and praying, the heaven was open,
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said,
Thou art my beloved Son; in thee
    I am we’ll pleased.

“The WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us, ” Almighty GOD manifest HIMSELF in human flesh as SON of GOD for the redemption of all mankind .

We have a the- fold witness that JESUS IS the MESSIAH:
    1. The witness of the Holy Spirit descending upon HIM at HIS baptism.

2.The witness of HIS PRECIOUS BLOOD that HE shed at Calvary for the remission of out sins.

    3. The faithfulness of HIS WORD to baptize HIS followers with the Holy Ghost, as in the day of Pentecost .

We who obeyed HIS commandment are faithful witnesses of HIS ETERNAL POWER and GODHEAD.

iRepent , baptized in JESUS NAME for the remission of my sins.
iLove My Holy Ghost and FIRE!!!
i Am a witness of GOD’S Eternal Power and GODHEAD.

  30. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

    5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

What a beautiful lineage Jesus has to trace his family to Adam. While we all descend from Adam, we may not be able to produce a written record of it.
In thinking on John the Baptist and his esteemed role as the forerunner to Christ…he had a ministry to prepare the people for Jesus and his kingdom. John’s ministry would shake their worlds as he preached about a spiritual kingdom of heaven and not an earthly kingdom and to get their hearts right. We today have the responsibility to prepare ourselves as well as help others prepare for the kingdom of heaven. We must first lead ourselves in repentance and bring forth fruits or actions that reflect Christ in us, then lead the people God has placed in our lives to this relationship. They won’t believe our witness unless we show the fruits! We cannot be like the world & try to show others the way – we must lead the way in godly actions, speech, giving and more.

  31. 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

We should be thinking to ourselves.. what kind of fruit am I bringing forth? what kind of fruit do I want to show? what do i have to do to show that fruit? and are the people i surround myself with showing that fruit? these are all important questions that will help bring us to the understanding of who we are, who we want to be and if the people we involve ourselves with are helping us get there. equally as important as our own fruit is the fruit of our friends. if the people we are constantly around are not bearing good fruit that we should remove ourselves because we shouldn’t want anyone to rub off on us and spoil our fruit. Our relationship with God is more important than our relationship with others and we shouldn’t let anything get between us, God and his promises.

  32. NLT 9 Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.”

God is the judge of your spiritual root. He can see your inner self and what is producing in your heart. Not only are you affected, but your offspring. If you don’t produce good fruit, your children will also not be good fruit. In a sense, God will chopped you and your family down, since no one was producing good spiritual fruit.

  33. John’s Baptism of Jesus !! 15. And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; 16. John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Ho’-ly Ghost and with fire: Matt. 3 : 11 17. Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. Mic. 4 : 12 21. Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Je’-sus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22. And the Ho’-ly Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!! THANK YOU FOR THE FIRE !!!! THANK YOU FOR MY WATER BAPTISM IN JESUS NAME!!!!! I AM VICTORIOUS JESUS IN YOUR NAME !!!!

  34. Time

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli

    Luke 2:42-43
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

We see Jesus even as a 12 year old capable of ministering at least with a certain capacity, but He did not enter into full ministry until a season of maturation had passed.

    Luke 2:51-52
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

We cannot rush the plan and process of God. Even God in the flesh submitted Himself to the nature of the flesh in coming through the process of gestation to birth and grew from infant to adulthood. But when it was complete, Jesus fulfilled His will just as it needed to happen.

    Philippians 2:5-8
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

  35. iLove to eat the Word

2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

John was out in the wilderness and the Word of God “came” to him. John did not go to sermons.com or elsewhere to get his message to preach. This true man of God waited until it was his time. Finally, when his time was over, he spoke and said, He (Jesus) must increase and I must decrease.

A true man of God waits patiently for his time.

  36. 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Our relationship with The Lord must be a personal one. God sees our fruit, who we are reflects in what we do and how we behave. Not because your father is Abraham, in others words, not because your parents have a good relationship with God means that you have it too. Salvation is individual and so is our relationship with God. We see how Israel had many kings and a lot did not follow the good example of their fathers and did not honor The Lord. And then we see how some did. We need to know him personally and intimately that is why we were created to worship Him.

  37. “For I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.” John was aware there were some that believed they were above others. One would be unwise too ever believe they are above another, as all are descendants of; “which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.” What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  38. John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
John have gotten the revelation a long time ago that God is mightier and all knowing God. Even thoughJohn was born with the holy ghost he was a wise man an shown humility. He knew Jesus is the messiah.

  39. Vs 3) And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

I thank God that he brought us to a church where we were taught the right way to be baptized .

    IN THE NAME OF JESUS!

  40. Jesus isn’t a sinner, so he doesn’t need to be baptized. However, he willingly submits to John’s baptism. Jesus follows the path set for those he came to save. As he was praying, God sent affirmation and blessing. In once sentence, God tells us ” I identify myself inside of you; You are my Son; I love you and I am pleased with you. ” In this way, God claims Jesus as his. Identifying and confirming to everyone who Jesus is and the ministry he’s about embark on to be His as well. He claims and identifies himself in us with t hybrid e gift of his Holy Ghost living inside of us today.

It’s beautiful how God reveals himself to us. When God created the light of day and dark of night He said it was good. He didnt have to say his work was good for us His 6th day creations to believe it because we can see and feel it for ourselves. Just like we dont have to thank one another for the support, and ministry we provide for one another in the church. To appreciate and lift each other up however, is an example and will of God. Love one another.

  41. 16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire

All John could do was baptize with water in order to cleanse and purify them, BUT Jesus is the only one who can baptize us with the Holy Ghost; the spirit that cleans and purifies our hearts.
Thank you Jesus for the Holy Ghost!!! 🙂

  42. 18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

What else did he preach? In Acts 2 we read where Peter did the same. Could it be that John also preached of the tabernacle and related the sacrifices on the brazen alter to Christ laying down His life for our sins?

  43. No violence, no false accusations, and be content with your wages. This goes against the norm as far as getting everything you ever wanted. This also seems to go against the grain when it comes to violence. You know, how the headlines read today. “Wars and Rumors of Wars”….and the other headline should read the other Big “G”, “Gossip or making false accusations” today are like the latest thing. The Courtrooms are full of false accusations today, with people suing one another or our Government is swelling with false accusations or dictatorship. Guess what? They probably aren’t even satisfied with their wages as well! If, my memory serves me right, I believe I heard that all the Congressmen are millionaires today! But we all know, that money alone will never be satisfying in itself. It has it’s purpose but not to satisfy our selfishness desires. Let’s build Churches, and people not just focusing on the building in itself. But, let’s build each other up in the ammunition of the Lord. Let Sword sharpen Sword, and show this world how to love one another. Don’t tear down one another, but build up a Church/Body that would make Daddy Smile. He’s the only BIG “G”, that we need to please. How would like to hear Our Daddy says this? “Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

We are still not worthy…..But, God does believe we are “Worth It”. He must have, he took our shame/sin upon that Cross. We are the evidence of his LOVE today. But, it is our job to stay connected and obey his WORD. “Obey his Son, Word made flesh”. We are to follow Jesus, either by his written word, or his voice. My sheep know my voice, and they follow me, they will not know the voice of a stranger. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the (Word) of (God). It all comes together, and his Word will not return void, it will accomplish for which he sent it. Jesus won’t return void, nor shall his word fail us! If, you hear from God, don’t harden your hearts and receive what he says. In our prayers, try to listen, and see what God says. He Loves you, and linger in his presence. You might hear something you have been waiting for, for a long time too. God’s Word covers God’s Word. Haven’t you seen it on several occasions in the Bible where his word has covered a subject in two or more chapters or sections in the Bible, old covenant or the new covenant, and it even seems to be repetitive. It’s not, that’s called confirmation or prophesy to show how God works. He keeps his Word….”Be on fire, by the Power of the Holy Ghost”………………………..

16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Holy Ghost can take shape in any form he chooses, and let him take shape in us today. We need a major outpouring of the Holy Ghost today, even just to renew our minds or help us with a fresh New Endtimes Annoiting, for the sake of souls or for the building of the Body of Christ. With all the current events today, from diseases, wars, homosexuality, immoral activities, violence, hate crimes, and essentially imploding of the United States. The immoral decay is worsening and our communities are crumbling. The streets are thick with pestilence, lawlessness, vileness, and much more. America needs to wake up, and start looking up to God for their help. In the Psalms, David prayed! Psalm 9:20 Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

  44. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.” (‭Luke‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ NLT)

If we are connected to the right source we will produce good fruit.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (‭Galatians‬ ‭5‬:‭22-23‬ NLT)

  45. What a lineage! Verses 23-28 show the lineage of Joseph, Jesus’ supposed dad. If it is that important for them to know thenshpuldnt we know at least where we come from in JESUS too? It’s good to know things.

  46. 23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

    — For His birthday Jesus got baptized??

As I read all the genealogies of Christ, I noticed that there were several named after their forefathers. In many customs, it is a way to honor the parents or grandparents when a child is named after their elder… God uses subtlety to keep His command to ” Honor thy father and mother”…

  47. Luke 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

Luke, more than the other gospels, stresses repentance. John’s baptism was an outward confession of an inward response to John’s message. It was symbolic of another, greater baptism (v. 16). Forgiveness before God and reconciliation to Him always presupposes owning up to the symptoms of our alienation from Him. Biblical trust in God presupposes repentance toward God. See Mark 1-4 for the expression “the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”

Matthew 3:1 John the Baptist’s Ministry
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2.And saying, Repent ye: for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  48. In this chapter, everyone asked from politicians to soldiers to regular citizens had asked him… what must I do? And to every one of them, he gave them the answer: be baptized for the remission of your sins, and the same still holds true today. Except now today we have the baptism of water and of the holy spirit, Amen to that!

  49. 9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

It is important to make sure you are spiritually productive. We’re not living this life just to look good. There is a purpose in place for those who truly want to live as a child of God. We must get this word out to those who are lost, those who have been searching for peace in all the wrong places, those who want to be saved.
