Luke 4

1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

Jesus preached deliverance to the captives, he came preaching with compassion on man kind and after he revealed to them who he was seated himself. These people said is not this Joseph’s son, they could not get past this where they could see who he really was.
Notice he closed the book and gave it back to the minister, to say now it is your job to preach from the sayings of this book.
The preaching of Jesus will bring peace to the broken hearted, set at liberty them that are bruised.
Many people have bruised hearts and lives that need mending and we should help them mend them, with the Word of God!
Jesus left us the instructions and now let’s fulfill his word!

  2. Don’t under estimate the power of God’s Word. Do you see here how Jesus fought the Devil. He fought him back with Written Word of God, the bread of life, and he told that nasty old serpent, “For it is written”, on many occasions to fight back with the word of God. “Sword of the Spirit, Sword of the Word”………..Then the old copycat devil, tried to quote God’s Word too, to convince Jesus to jump it is written, but Jesus never lost his composure, he quoted scripture again. “Stand on the Word, the Rock that’s higher than I”…………………………………………………

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

I still pray, for that Special Endtimes Harvest Annoiting for the Body of Christ…..in Jesus name, Amen. My God, is all about SALVATION……………..

You know, when Jesus spoke this out amongst the Jewish Elders. That didn’t go over very well. But, it appears that God likes to astonish the religious or Pharisees, and make them question within themselves. They started questioning within themselves “Who is This”, And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?; and Jesus replied that a prophet isn’t excepted in his own country. But, you can see in verse 41, that sadly the devils knew right away who he was! Wow…..it’s baffling to see that man can’t recognize but the devils know who he is or who’s running the show!

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

    “Stay Connected”………………………………………………………………………………….

  3. 39. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

    40. Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

    41. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Fever, diseases, and devils all had to obey Him then, and they still have to obey Him today. When He says leave, they have no choice but to go.

    Hebrews 13:8 KJV
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

  4. Verse 13 MSG “That completed the testing. The Devil retreated temporarily, lying in wait for another opportunity.” We too must be aware that the devil is lying in wait for an opportunity to destroy us. But, in Jesus name……JESUS today YOU will SAVE me!

In verses 36-37 MSG “That set everyone back on their heels, whispering and wondering, “What’s going on here? Someone whose words make things happen? Someone who orders demonic spirits to get out and they go?” Jesus was the talk of the town.” This reminded me of part of the song the choir sang a couple of weeks ago…..Something’s moving, something’s changing……….things are shifting and things are happening at POFW, in Jesus name!

At the end of the chapter, we see when the crowds went looking for Jesus and found him, they clung to him. They wanted more and didn’t want to let him go. We too must seek Him, find Him and hold onto Him. There are so many things trying to distract you, pull you away (literally); but, you make the ultimate choice. I saw a sign this week that said “Got Jesus? It’s hell without Him”

  5. You tell em Jesus!
Vs.41/Jeus told the devil not to speak after he brought them out if a person. Thats good enouph for me to believe.

Thankyou Jesus. Sometimes we have to hear Jesus tell us what to do…but He’s already done it on the cross. Victory in Jesus, my SAVIOUR forever. Like the song says.
You , Jesus have power over me…just speak and I listen.

  6. Jesus gave us the example. Use the word of God against the Devil. That’s why it is important to know the scripture well.

  7. 31, “And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.”
32, “And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.”

This made me think of the scripture found in Hebrews 4:12. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

    God’s Word is POWERFUL!

  8. iLove to eat the Word

The devil comes to church too. We noticed at the beginning of the chapter, that the devil quotes scripture. (He does take it out of context). We notice here that the devil attends synagogue. Boom, but even though the man came in to the church weighed down and possessed, he leaves free and clean. God is good!

  9. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Our battles with the devil are cyclical. We whip today and he comes back tomorrow. If the enemy only went away for a season after dealing with Jesus who are we to think once whipped always whipped? We must stay prepared for his attacks and sly twisty ways of temptation. It is not a sin to be tempted. As we read here, Jesus was tempted. Retaliate with the Word! Use God’s words to defeat the advancements of our enemy. As with verse 10 he will attempt to the scripture as part of the temptation.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  10. The Real Deal

    Luke 4:3 (KJV Strong’s)
” 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.”

What a miracle! Turning stones into bread! That would have been really amazing! However who could have seen this miracle, and who would receive the glory?

    Would God? No
    Would Jesus? No
    Would the enemy? Yes

    Because it was his command.

Jesus could have but it went against the will of God.

Why do so many try and turn stone into bread today?

Occasionally I listen to the radio and hear teaching that is good, but it lacks power. It is based on the word, but fails to nourish my soul.

This is because this is stone that they are trying to turn into bread. It’s not the real deal.

The enemy wants us to try and take stone, or earthly concepts, logic, and reasoning, fleshly understanding of the word and cause it to be bread.

Jesus however is the real bread. A real deal meal comes from spending time in his presence, seeking his face, and allowing him to reveal his word.

Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. This is the real bread.

The phony bread of this world can be eaten but moments later we still feel empty, and look for something else. It’s like junk food, or fast food. But when we get a real word from God it has gone through the process, and will feed our soul.

James 3:17-18 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
“17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).
18 And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God’s will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts].
    James 4”

  11. It shows in the chapter that Jesus was tempted and if was tempted what makes us think we are not going to be tempted. When we are tempted with something and we fail the test guess we will go thru that test again to see if we pass. God help us to pass the test the first time. We are gonna be tempted in this life everyday and it is up to us if we choose right or wrong.

  12. But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’ ” (‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ NLT)
Thankful for strength that The word gives is daily. Thankful for a God that gives strength when we are week.

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” (‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭18-19‬ NKJV)

This is were we get our deliverance. Through JESUS christ. Thank you for all you do Jesus for what you done and what your going to do!

  13. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

Having to memorize scriptures was always a challenge for me, but as someone has told me lately. Memorizing does not put the word of God in your heart, verbalizing does. Saying out loud God’s word continually.

  14. The devil a cheap imitation…
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Why will people agree to have the power that the devil can give? Everything in this world is temporary here today and gone tomorrow. In the same way is the devil’s power here today and gone tomorrow.

On the other hand, Christ offers the power of the Holy Ghost, ETERNAL POWER!!! The power of the HOLY GHOST triumphs over the devil for in
    Mark 16:17-18
    17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

The decision is yours, TODAY is the day of SALVATION, NOW IS THE TIME….

  15. 40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

God did so many miricles, signs, and wonders and he is still doing them today, and just like in the bible times when people hear of all these wonderful things they will come seeking him.

  16. 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Even the Devils know and tremble. If the Devils are able to declare and decree who jesus is then how much more the church?

  17. “The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come. ” (‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭18-19‬ NLT)

It’s time to believe, The captives will be set free! We must praise Him just as pastor preached. Praise praise praise!!!

  18. 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

Satan is so deceiving, that he would try use the Word of God against the Word of God (Jesus). Jesus is the word manifested in flesh. The problem is he did not finish the passage of scripture which is one complete statement: “…10No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. 11For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. 12They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone.…” He did not finish it because it exposes his plan that will fail.

  19. 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

The bible says that Jesus was tempted of the devil for 40 days. Then goes on to an account of a specific moment that the enemy was trying to tempt Jesus. I didn’t realize this the first few times I’ve read this story. Jesus was tried daily for 40 days. Jesus was praying and fasting, full of the Holy Ghost. Jesus said in Matt 17:21 “21”But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” while he was casting out a demon from a boy the disciples couldn’t command out. Then 13 “When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.” The enemy is always watching for an opportune time; a moment of weakness. The body may become weak in fasting, but the Holy Spirit is stronger.

1 Cor 12:10 “Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.”

  20. 41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Signs and wonders followed Jesus. We see them too. Could it be the reason we don’t see more of this sort of revival is because we refuse to first fast, second that we don’t walk with the same authority, and third that we want people to talk about it, telling others that “we did” something, rather than because we were obedient and willing we were privileged to watch God do something in front of us?

  21. “And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” While many were astounded, there were others that thought differently. This is all the more why one must clearly hear the man of God, and obey (all of) the word of God, lest one become too comfortable, callused or deceived. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  22. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

We rob ourselves of life when we do not nourish ourselves with the Word of God. If you notice the 3 ways in which the devil tempted Jesus: provision, (turn it into bread) power (offered him high status and kingdoms of the world, that satan has not even power over. It is The Lord who sets up kings and puts down others) and protection. These are things that worry humans on a constant baisis. However without the word it is very hard to overcome this temptation or attack. It is the word that tells us “but my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory.” It is the word that says if we are faithful over small he shall make us ruler of much, and it is the word that says The Lord is our protection…”God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Without the Word it is very difficult to live a Victoria life. The Word is Life to us.

  23. 7 Therefore if You will do homage to and worship me [[d]just once], it shall all be Yours.
8 And Jesus replied to him, Get behind Me, Satan! It is written, You shall do homage to and worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve. (AMP)

Wow if you “worship me just once” tats all it takes. This is why it’s so important to be filled with the Holy Ghost everyday so we will know what to tell the devil just like Jesus did when the devil tempted him. Just because we overcame one temptation doesn’t mean the devil is not going to come back and tempt us again. He’s after us looking for the perfect opportunity when to tempt us again.
13 And when the devil had ended every [the complete cycle of] temptation, he [temporarily] left Him [that is, [h]stood off from Him] until another more opportune and favorable time.

Let us be refilled everyday with the Holy Ghost because we are fighting a battle everyday. We need to be refreshed with Gods Spirit which will make us strong and wise.
Thank You Jesus!!!! In you I trust!!!

  24. Jesus tempted of the devil !! 1. AND Je’-sus being full of the Ho’-ly Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spir’-it into the wilderness, Matt. 4 : 1 2. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. Exod. 34 : 28 3. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4. And Je’-sus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Deut. 8 : 3 5. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I willI I give it. John 12 : 31 7. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8. And Je’-sus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Sa’-tan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Deut. 6 : 13 9. And he brought him to Je- ru’-sa-lem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10. For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11. And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12. And Je’-sus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. I Love you Jesus !!!! I have come into this place to magnify the Lord and worship him !!!! Jesus you are Holy !!!! Thank you Jesus !!!!

  25. theres going to be days were we get tempteted and we want to give in but we got to remember that jesus was also tempted and not once did he give in to the devils games.he proceeded with what he had planned and didnt look back something that we all should be doing this world has nothing for us but jesus has greater things in store for us he promised us a lifetime of great things its amazing what god can do and nomatter what lyes ahead god will always bring us out he is all we need and all we ever had hes an amazing god.as a little girl and growing up i grew up and carryed things with me even till now and it hurted and although it trys to ligure to me while i walk god reminds me through my mom and many others that no matter what there is greater that lyes before me ahead nomatter what the situation there is always something better the roades get bumpy but its so worth then going back to what had us strapped and what made us feel like we were less.

  26. What to do when your lead to the wilderness.

1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

How many of us would flee when we saw the wilderness coming? No one likes to go to the wilderness. Yet when your lead by the holy ghost to come there then what? We must go through the wilderness. How do we get to know Gods voice if there are hundreds that speak everyday unless we go through the wilderness. We then are taught what tee voice of God is. Who he is. If you were to get the answer to that prayer that you’ve been praying for years would you then go through it? Be still and know that he is God.

  27. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

The word of God gives life, sustains life and resurrects.

There is power in the word of God

  28. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

The word of God gives life, sustains life and resurrects.

There is power in the word of God !!

  29. 28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

It’s so hard to understand the pride or jealousy that would cause this people to try to kill Jesus. In other cities his fame went before him. Here it’s like his own neighbors – his countrymen – that rise up. Yet we see others in scripture reason with Jesus to heal their child or servant – even when rebuked. All these people needed to do was to stop, think about it then reason things out for understanding. Instead they reacted just like Jesus expected for he looks on the heart.

  30. 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

The key here is “being full of the Holy Ghost”
Being full he was able to be led to the wilderness, and he was able to overcome the temptations of the enemy. The key is our life to be and live as overcomes is to be “full of the Holy Ghost”

  31. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give
God was the perfect example of how to be strong when tempted. He allow the devil to tempt him and the devil was so stupid to think that God would bargain with him!

7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

  32. v 32. And they were astonished at his doctrine ; for his word was with power.

JESUS IS infinite ….. Without limit , endless , boundless in his authority .
Demons cowered at HIS COMMAND, disease subsided at HIS TOUCH or VOICE
( HIS WORD ) PRAISE THE LORD. !!!

We can believe on HIM because of HIS POWERFUL WORDS that reveal HIS SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY AND POWER .
JESUS CHRIST is the anointed one.

  33. POWERFUL WORDS

Verses 32 and 36 teach us of the POWER of the WORDS of JESUS. There is supernatural revelation in understanding that as Holy Ghost filled believers we possess the very same power and authority when we confess the WORD of GOD.

I encourage us to speak the WORDS of JESUS and witness the power of GOD. The WORD of GOD has POWER and AUTHORITY and when we speak HIS word we will see the same results.

    In JESUS name.

  34. Three rounds with the Devil

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Pastor has said this many times that the Devil cant fight a long fight.

    James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

In boxing you wouldn’t be considered a true champion unless you could fight into the championship rounds which meant anything after ten. Also a contender has to be qualified to even step in the ring with the champion. If you were going to try the champion you at least had to work your way up to him. In this case the Devil has never even bee qualifies to step in the ring with Jesus. That’s why he only lasted three rounds.

    Revelation 12:7
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

Satan knows his time is short so he throws everything he has in the wild punch. Wild punches will get you hurt if you are fighting a champion, someone who knows what they are doing. If a fighter gets hurt most of the time he starts looking for the knockout blow and he gives up his defense mostly to put all his power in that one last punch. As a trained fighter you are looking for the change in his game When you see the wild punches start to come its time to settle in an let him make a mistake. Its not if he makes a mistake it is when, so you are just taking your time waiting on it. When you see the opening you take it and finish the fight.

If the devil is throwing crazy things at you right now just remember he is no match for Jesus this is why Jesus doesn’t get in the ring with him in the last fight. It is Michael. The devil is not a worthy contender for Jesus.

    1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

    Romans 8:31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

    Revelation 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

When the wild punches start to come you have to just settle in a know that your testimony has him on the ropes and the blood of Jesus has already delivered the knockout blow. The devil cant fight in the Championship rounds.

    Mark 10:22
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

    Rope-a-dope

  35. Don’t Stop Now

28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way

There will be time that opposition rises up as we walk in the will of God when our solution is to simply keep on walking. I’m reminded of that saying, “what’s a yapping dog to a moving freight train?” We must be sensitive to know when it’s time to pause to deal with a situation and when it’s time to keep moving along, but our trust should be in God in either course. If God be for us, who can be against us? He will see to it to provide for His will, we just need to allow Him to work through us and use us.

    Genesis 22:13-14 AMP
Then Abraham looked up and glanced around, and behold, behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering and an ascending sacrifice instead of his son! So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide. And it is said to this day, On the mount of the Lord it will be provided.

  36. 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

If the devil will try to tempt God in the flesh then we can be pretty sure that he will try to tempt us but just as jesus was the perfect example in all that he did he shows us here that we have the power to shut the mouth of the enemy and make him depart for a season. Thank you jesus for the promise of power and strength

  37. POWer

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. (‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭13-14‬ KJV)

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. (‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭13-14‬ NIV)

After Jesus told the devil to leave, the bible says he left. Well that is nice and most people do stop there, but then it keeps going. It says that he went back to town and oh yea, by the way, he was FULL of the POWER of the HOLY GHOST! If you hunk the devil is talking to you, tell him where to go and when to do it! Then watch out cause if you have scripture to back up your faith in Jesus then POW, the devil will leave and POW, you will have HOLY GHOST POWer!

  38. Psalm 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

The source of Jesus’ power is found in verse 14…… And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

Also v.36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits and they come out.

  39. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

  40. LUKE 4 Ancient doctors were few in number, expensive, lacking in knowledge of effective treatments and, although learned for their time, still quite ignorant and superstitious. Temples to Asclepius, the Greco-Roman god of healing, were found all over the Mediterranean world. These temples were somewhat like the spas of today; therapy consisted more of rest, massage and a modified diet than of what we would call medicine. Religion also played a major role. A common healing method was “incubation,” whereby the sick person would sleep in the confines of the temple of Asclepius in the hope of receiving a dream-revelation from the god. Those who had been healed made special contributions to the temples, which often included plaster reproductions of whatever parts of their bodies had been healed. These were set on display as testimonies to the healing power of the god.
The second-century orator and chronic invalid Aelius Aristides, in his Sacred Tales, gives us an insight into the need people had for healing and the methods employed to that end. After falling ill on a journey to Rome and enduring brutal surgery at the hands of Roman doctors, Aristides became a devotee of Asclepius. The cures prescribed for him in the dreams included bathing in a churning river during winter, pouring mud on himself before sitting in the courtyard of the temple, walking about without shoes all winter and blood-letting from various parts of his body.
It was in such a world that Jesus performed his ministry of healing. Unlike many doctors connected to temples, Jesus healed without charge or fanfare. Also, he did not follow any specific ritual that might have been regarded as the key to tapping into magical, healing power. Sometimes he would touch a person; in other instances he might place a daub of mud on a blind man’s eyes (Jn 9:6) or simply speak a word (Mt 8:13). In short, Jesus’ healings pointed to the power of God that dwelled within him; they did not encourage people to seek out rituals for magical healing but were part of his proclamation of the kingdom. Physical healing pointed always to the restoration of creation.

  41. Can you pass the test?

This temptation is well known amongst those who well established in the word of God. We saw what Jesus was able to do, even though being a physical weak state, he was able to show strength. Our flesh may be weak at times, but that’s when I spirit should be at its best. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. The test we go through is to help make us stronger. By the power of the almighty God, we will come out victorious.

  42. In our daily lives, we have to have the word in our heart and in our spirit. For the evil spirits are around to test us all the time, waiting for a moment when we are weak in spirit to come and enter into our lives, but this chapter has the solution to this problem. The word!

We must read the word of God daily and study it’s contents so that when the trials and tests come, we know what to do because we have the words of God, the Bible, the instruction manual for your walk with God!

  43. 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

The devil is a lie in Jesus name.

  44. Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.” But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’ ” Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me.” Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.’ ” Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’ ” Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the LORD your God.’ ” When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came. (‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭3-13‬ NLT)

What a great example we have in Jesus.  This passage of scripture encourages us to resist the temptation with the Word. Memorizing the scriptures word for word is so important. This is one of the reasons Eve was deceived in the garden. We must read the Word, know the Word, obey the Word, speak the Word and PRAY the  Word!

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. I have tried hard to find you— don’t let me wander from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. I praise you, O LORD; teach me your decrees. I have recited aloud all the regulations you have given us. I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word. (‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭9-16‬ NLT)
