Luke 8

1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:

5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.

7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.

8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.

19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

20 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.

23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,

39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:

42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him.

43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

  1. 9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?

10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The parable of the sower of the seed is one of the greatest of Jesus parables to me.
The seed is The Word of God.
There is nothing wrong with the seed, the seed is always good and is sent out to people, the ground makes the difference. If we prepare our hearts we can receive what we need from God. Many times the ground is not ready to receive the seed and therefore does not bring forth the fruit it should.
We are told to go into the whole world and preach the gospel to everyone. This is what we should do and the results is left to the ground (the people) if their hearts are ready to receive the word they will bring forth fruit.

  2. Verse 15 MSG “But the seed in the good earth—these are the good-hearts who seize the Word and hold on no matter what, sticking with it until there’s a harvest.” We have to seize the Word and hold on no matter what…as this verse says, we cannot allow the devil to snatch it from us, let the cares of life distract us from it, or let the weeds of sin choke it out. But instead, seize it and share it with everyone you come in contact with, just as Jesus directed the madman who was delivered from the demons. The end of verse 39 MSG “…….“Go home and tell everything God did in you.” So he went back and preached all over town everything Jesus had done in him.”

  3. Parable of the sower – what kind of soil is the word of God falling on in our lives?

The Word will produce fruit, evidence of the seeds planted. If we are now “in” the Word it will be evidenced as well.

17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

  4. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

Our Prophet George Guy reposted a post in regards to us having Peace that comes from God or Worry that comes from the enemy. You either believe in the word of God that says that you have Peace that this world cannot give and cannot take away or you believe the enemy and worry…. The option is ours. In that note, I want to state that I WILL LIVE, I WILL NOT DIE, THE RAURRECTION POWER OF CHRIST, ALIVE IN ME AND I AM FREE IN JESUS NAME!!!!!!! I WILL PUT MY LAMP ON THE WINDOW AO IT WILL SHINE BIG AND BRIGHT… TELL ALL ABOUT THE PEACE OF CHRIST THAT GOES BEYOND ALL UNDERSTANDING. A PEACE THAT THIS world do not give and can not take away!!!!!

  5. Luke 8:31
” They were imploring Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.”

This is where demons should go when cast out. We have the right to petition God to send them to their eternal prison.

    Jude 1:6
” And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,”

There are angels bound in hell right now. We can make the request for them to be bound now.

When in war, you take prisoners. This is the way to do it spiritually.

  6. 38, “Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying,”
39, “Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.”

This passage of scripture reminded me of when I first got saved at the age of 15. I was praying at home one day and telling the Lord how I needed to quit school and be a foreign missionary because I needed to go share the gospel with everyone in the world. I remember God’s exact words he spoke to me. He said, “You have a whole school of people to witness to.” That became my mission field.
When we get saved, our mission should be to be a witness to our family, friends, classmates, co-workers, and those we meet everyday when we are out and about (our city). We need to share with them the great things God has done for us. BE A WITNESS!

  7. 24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

My God can calm any storm that is in my life! Amen!

  8. The Unnecessary Miracle

    Luke 8:22 (KJV Strong’s)
“22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.”

Jesus spoke the words. Whatever he says will come to pass because he cannot lie. When he said let us go to the other side that should have been all the proof they needed that they would be ok.

    Luke 8:23-24 (KJV Strong’s)
” 23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

Fear gripped their hearts. In a moment they lost all hope, and faith in God. They forgot about their teaching, and in moment of panic threw it away.

24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish.

One writer says the disciples said “carest not that we perish?”

They questioned who God was, and in doing so removed him from the throne of their lives.

Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.”

Jesus had compassion and forgave them but quickly rebuked them.

    Luke 8:25 (KJV Strong’s)
” 25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.”

Jesus never wanted to say Peace be still. His ultimate plan was for them to pray, praise, and trust in God standing on the word that Jesus spoke. They were going to go to the other side.

The unnecessary miracle displays the awesome power of God, but nullified their potential blessing. Their unbelief forfeited some greater gift in their life.

Sometimes the answer to our prayer isn’t deliverance but perseverance, boldness, determination, tenacity, passion, and faith.

In this final hour the church’s prayer cannot be deliverance because the word written cannot be changed. The prayer must be Lord give us boldness to fulfill your will in these challenging times.

  9. But the Pharisees and experts in religious law rejected God’s plan for them, for they had refused John’s baptism. (‭Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭30‬ NLT)

Man they didn’t even know what could come up for them. God had plans for them.
But they think they was right.

  10. SOW SEED

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Clearly we understand that EVERY word of GOD is a SEED. When and as we speak the WORD of GOD we SOW SEED into the lives of those that hear HIS WORD. Speak the WORD of GOD watch your life become saturated with BLESSING.

Daily evaluation of the amount of WORDS we speak for GOD, for ourselves and for the adversary would be a good exercise of accountability. When we speak the WORD of GOD into someones life including our own we sow seeds of hope, peace, joy into the life of those around us.

As we speak the WORD of GOD everywhere we go we are sowing seed everywhere we GO. Thereby leaving the hope and opportunity for FRUIT in every relationship and situation in our lives. Speak the WORD, sow SEED and prepare for the harvest.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iSpeak HIS WORD
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  11. “And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Many listen, few hear. Dear God (Jesus) let me hear! “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” Jesus (God), please plant and if needed transplant me into good ground. “And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.” One that wants to be considered as such must also be hearers and doers. “And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?” Many touched him physically, however she touched his heart. One must sincerely reach for God’s (Jesus) for all are in
need, especially the more if one thinks not. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  12. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. -Luke 8:25

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. -Romans 12:3

It is the faith and confidence we have in the spoken word of God that sees us through the storms of life. Let the wind blow and the seas rage. Like the old song writer said “I’ve got an anchor”. But I’m so glad that he can speak to the storms of our lives and bring peace.

After the storms there came a miracle.

Stand by I’ve got a miracle on the way.

  13. 23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

Just like God spoke to their storm in their time of need he can speak to the storms that we face in our life! What a mighty God we serve for everything has to obey at the sound of his great name!

  14. The way side

5 A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

The wayside of a field is where the ox or today the tractor makes his rounds and makes the ground hard. The ground has been driven on so much that it is considered unfruitful.

We are witnesses to people with the same thing going on in their lives. People have walked on them and crushed them and pushed them over so much their hearts are hard. Most people call these the unreachable or the hopeless because they will not just as the ground recieve any word or seed.

Brother Cornwell said something that was meant to be a joke but it is very true. All the good ground is already in other churches. All that is left is the rest but we have in this parable 3/4 of the ground left.

Sowing seed in the wayside has to be done with care. You have to dig and soften before you plant the seed. You have to love people and let them know you care first . You have to work at it. You have to prove your not fake like the others that they have encountered in their past. You have to be be careful. Break the walls down first them plant the seed or the seed will not penetrate.

This is what we are called to today. We are called to reach into the wayside and win the unwinnable and reach the unreachable.

The wayside is a harvest covered by the pain of life. Let us give comfort and peel back the pain and reach this harvest.

  15. 49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

in verse 49 the man from Jarius house told him to pretty much give up hope his daughter was dead. Thankfully Jesus saw beyond the physical state of her and by His supernatural power healed her. By doing this he shut the mouth of the doubters and proved His power.

  16. iLove to eat the Word

56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

One thing that I notice alot is the fact that Jesus continues to tell the people to not tell others what he did. This is amazing for the fact that the majority of us today post everything we do on facebook and other social media sites.

  17. No one lights a lamp and hides. It in clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead they put it on a stand so that those who come in can see the light.for there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

  18. When Jesus was to late.

49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

When Jesus told Jairus to take him to his daughter. They went. This is like Jesus telling us about our promises in our lives. Then as we take the journey through life there are many distractions that we think take away from the vision. Yet God is preparing to show up and show out. And as we go there might be others that we see touched as we wait. This can get rather frustrating especially when we know we have a promise. Then as others are be blessed. We get word that our promise is dead. What do you do then? Do you just throw away the towel or keep moving forward? So Jesus then asks if he had the faith then to keep going. Well as the story goes on they took Jesus to the daughter and he told them that she was sleeping. They laughed at him. Why do we laugh at the things God tells us will happen? So then Jesus tells the daughter to wake up. Could it be that God is testing your faith through all of life to see if you will trust him till the very end. To where those around you even doubt what The Lord says. Keep the faith and know God is on the thrown. And he is in control.

  19. 56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.

Why is it that Jesus is telling some to tell all, and others not a word? Could it be that the seed sown by these told not to tell would end up no more than the seeds that fell on the stony ground, or maybe even have been pearls that would have been thrown to swines???

  20. 49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

In his compassion for people, Jesus went above & beyond to heal Jarius’ daughter. Jesus could have gone on down the road to others but instead simply told him to believe she would be made whole. Only believe! All doubt has to leave! Walk by faith & not by sight and receive your miracle.

  21. 22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake.

Have faith in lord always stronger.

  22. Luke 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it

Mark 3:35 True believers, members of God’s family ( My mother and my brethren) , are those who hear and obey His word.

  23. 16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

You can’t hide it when you have the light of the works. When Jesus is in you it should draw people to him through you. Go be the light and shine for all so that you can lead others instead of burning your own house down because your hiding your light under the bed.

  24. Miracle On The Way

On the way to heal Jairus’ daughter, there was a woman with an issue of blood. It hit me how just before the news of his daughter’s death, Jairus witnessed a miracle along the way. Jesus spoke to Jairus to have faith that his daughter would be made whole. It came time for Jairus to show what type of ground he was; the miracle of the woman with the issue of blood was a seed planted, but now he could choose to believe the Lord’s words that echoed that seed or choose fear and doubt. Jairus chose to make that seed fruitful by putting his trust in Jesus and we see the results. On the way to our miracle, there might be delays so there can be opportunities to see Jesus throwing out seed of the miraculous if we will be patient to watch and allow it to take root.

    James 1:2-4 NLT
2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.

3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

  25. 49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.

50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

Sometimes we need not to believe what the world says, but rather believe what the Word of the Lord says. Revive the vision within you, that dream or goal. With God all things are possible

  26. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

This is why it’s so important to read the bible daily so we can spread the seed to others when their going thru trials, confusion, depression, pain, or just need to be lifted up. What better way to motivate and help others than with the Word of God 🙂 Lets go and spread the Word!!! Thank You Jesus!!!

  27. 12 year old daughter healed !!!! 27.
