Luke 10

1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.

5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.

7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:

9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,

11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

  1. I just lost my whole post so lets try this again….
THIS SCRIPTURE IS A FULL MEAL…

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

As Western Day approaches this becomes more and more real to us. POFW ARE WE READY??? SICKLE IN ONE HAND, SWORD ON THE OTHER LETS GO HARVEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

As they refuse you DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY… IT IS HIM THAT THEY REFUSE.

Serving HIM is JOY EVERLASTING!!!! Go with CONFIDENCE FOR HE HAS GIVEN US POWER!!!!!!!!!! VICTORY IS MINE SAYS THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Sometimes MERCY comes from the most unexpected places. Go be CHRIST in some ones life. SHOW HIS MERCY, LOVE, PEACE, & COMFORT!!!!!

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

SERVING IS AWESOME!!!! But do not lose yourselves in serving and forget to have that intimacy with CHRIST. LISTEN TO HIM, FEEL HIS LOVE, CRY AT HIS FEET, LET HIS PEACE OVERWHELM YOU, THERE IS NO GREATER FEELING THAN HIS PRESENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. 38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

We need more Mary’s that are willing to lay aside the daily task of life and stop to worship God. Martha was so busy with much serving that she neglected what was most important. Most of us are the same way we are very busy with us and not very busy with Jesus.
Let’s choose the good part where we can enjoy worshiping God. Jesus put it best Mary chose the good, which shall not be taken away from her.
If we worship God he will never leave us or forsake us. We must out our trust in him.

  3. 17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

It is at the name of Jesus that we have victory over the enemy!

Today I rejoice in more than that the Devils are subject to me through the name of Jesus, but that I have salvation through that great name.
    Thank God for the Blood!

  4. Verse 20 MSG “All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you—that’s the agenda for rejoicing.” Luke 9:24 from yesterday’s blog says “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

Verse 27 MSG “He said, “That you love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence—and that you love your neighbor as well as you do yourself.” Matthew 22:37-40 NLT “Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Verse 42 MSG “One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her.” Same verse NLT “There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Joshua 24:15 KJV “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

  5. 1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

His word declares the gospel shall be preached in all nations. We are the ambassadors of Christ. It is our duty to share the love of God and His commandments with everyone we meet.

  6. 23. And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

    24. For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

We are indeed blessed to be able to witness things that most people only hear about: blinded eyes opened…cancer healed…devils cast out…and many other miracles, the greatest being many souls filled with the Holy Ghost! Let’s not take for granted what is happening among us, but let’s thankHim for what He’s already done and praise Him in advance for what He is about to do!

  7. Numb to the miraculous

    Luke 10:13 (KJV Strong’s)
” 13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.”

Chorazin and Bethsaida were Jesus’ stomping grounds. Capernaum was considered his home town. Many of the disciples were called from this area, and the bible says he did many miracles here. One of his most famous was healing the lame man on the bed let down through the roof.

However the people became numb to the miraculous. They expected it, and saw it as more of an attraction than attracting them to God.

Tyre was the famous city the idolatrous Jezebel was from. It was a power trade city, but filled with gross idolatry, and Baal worship. It was indeed one of the worst in ancient times. Sidon was too filled with idolatry.

Jesus said had the miracles he performed in his home towns been done in the wicked places of tyre and Sidon they would have repented.

Let us never become so used to the miraculous we lose our awe and wonder if it.

  8. iLove to eat the Word

21At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.22“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

This scripture gets me thinking about how much damage it really causes to argue with someone over the scripture. According to this scripture, it pleased God to hide the truth from those who really don’t want the truth. That means is displeases God for us to try to reveal the truth to those who really don’t want the truth. WOW. There are plenty of hungry people out there, lets find those who want it!

  9. Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭17-19‬ NKJV)

If we have the authority through Jesus himself then there is nothing in this world that can stop us. There is power in the name of Jesus. Nothing can harm us. That is a promise from God. So why do we hesitate? Don’t be afraid.

  10. 27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

This is the Great Commandment because if we follow these two, we will not win against God or man.

  11. 23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

Are we spoiled? Do we take for granted the power and anointing of our Pastor and the minsters who speak, teach and preach to us here at POFW? I believe we are. I have been “in” church most of my life. At every church I have heard the sayings “I am glad this is not a dead church”. Thinking at the time Amen! I don’t want to be a part of a dead church either.

Reflecting back on those ministries, there were good people there. They had good intentions. However, the full power of God was not utilized as it is here at POFW.

POFWian’s we are a blessed (spoiled) people. There are not too many ministries around the globe who experience what we experience weekly.

  12. 1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

God has a harvest ready for his people and his church. He has a people ready to receive His word if one we would teach it. GOD send me to those who are willing and ready to receive of your word!

  13. 38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

We need to be more like Mary and make sure we don’t get so busy with our daily duties that we don’t have our special time with God. Lord help me to never get so caught up in my life that I don’t spend my time with you.

  14. 22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.😉

  15. 27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

With all that I am, I love you Lord!

  16. Two are better than one

Verse 1. They were sent out in pairs.

I recently spoke to a friend about this within the past week. They wanted to hang out with a friend and be a good influence but said friend ended up being a bad influence on the one with good intentions. I told them you never want to be alone witnessing in the midst of sinners. You put yourself in a position that I would not put myself into.

There is a reason God sent them out in pairs. Finis Dake, a great resource for word counts and lists, states the following reasons for going out in pairs:

To help each other in tests, loneliness, and discouragements (Eccl. 4:9-12 Rom. 15:14) To lift up when one falls and to be a balance in success (Eccl. 4:9-10; 12:9-10 Gal. 6:1) To strengthen in weakness when burdened (Rom. 15:1-5 Gal. 6:2) For unity in prayer (Mt. 18:19) For protection in attack (Eccl. 4:12; Dt. 32:30) For confirmation of preaching (Dt. 17:6; 19:15; Mt. 18:16)

  17. GIVING JESUS REASON TO REJOICE (OUTREACH)

21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

With the open sin that is prevailing in the world, we know that it grieves the Spirit of the LORD to witness the rebellion and blatant open sin displayed in the world. We the Church, the Body of Christ should be diligent about creating opportunity for JESUS to REJOICE.

    Consider what makes JESUS rejoice.

5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
    * People that “Pray” before they GO on Outreach.

9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
    * People that take authority in every situation and declare the Kingdom of GOD. Speaking Healing, Deliverance and Salvation everywhere they go.

17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
    * People that rejoice about the POWER that GOD has given them over all the power of the enemy through the name of JESUS.

As Pastor, I rejoice greatly over the victories and harvest of this past Sunday. I know the LORD is rejoicing! As the body of Christ lets use this opportunity to abound or springboard into our Western Day week of events and Revival with Rev. Nick Mahaney next week.

Bless you and Thank you for your prayers and support.

  18. 5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.

6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.

You want peace then just ask for it.

  19. 38, “Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.”
39, “And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.”
40, “But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.”
41, “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:”
42, “But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

This is why we need to start each and everyday with PRAYER and READING the Word of God. We need to start our day off by letting Jesus into hour house, which is our heart, and sit at His feet and hear what He has to say. We need to chose “THAT GOOD THING” which is spending time with JESUS. If we don’t, we will become a Martha and be so busy in our day that we miss an opportunity to spend time with God.

So, choose “That Good Thing” and spend time with JESUS!

  20. “He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” The Lord’s chosen were received and rejected, those that received them were blessed, whereas those that rejected them also rejected God (Jesus) himself. “And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.” Names, titles or position can be merely self-serving and carnal, if ones heart is not as Jesus (God’s) and willing to serve another. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  21. NLT 17 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!”

What’s in a name, Jesus! There is power, healing and authority!

  22. vss.25-37
v37 And he said, He that shewed on him.
Then said Kesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

The mistake of the Pharisees was in their motive for service . It is easy for a person to fall into a good habit of duty and fail to cultivate a good heart of compassion .
A person may say he loves GOD, but it’s in vain when he acts uncharitably towards
    others.
Compassion service does what is right.
The LORD’S commission to go and do likewise is never ending .

People are by the side at the end of the
their road , perhaps trampled by life crying for mercy and for some one to care
and have compassion on them .

    iServe with love and compassion.
    i Repent
    iPray
    i Praise

  23. Amen
acts 2 : 38 then peter said unto them repent and be baptized in the name of jesuschrist and ye shall receive the gift of the holy Ghost

  24. 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Spending time with The Lord is never a waist of time. This life will pass away with everything in it. Yet a relationship with God will live on forever.

  25. 2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

Sunday as we arrive for Westernday, remember we were chosen to do this, we must hear up
    To carry out these orders

  26. Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Perhaps a warning against spiritual pride.

  27. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” (‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭40-42‬ NLT)

With all the preparation for Western day I pray we focus on “it”. That we will not get distracted in the busyness and the preparation of the event. Our mission is to Impact lives to change the world.

    We have to find “IT”
    We have to have “IT”
    We have to give “IT”

  28. Send the Labors!

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

I pray that this Saturday as we set up for the biggest day in our church history that we would see all POFW at work knowing a great time is upon us and it is time to put our boots on the ground. We will see the fruit of our labor come to pass. I expect everyone will come with hard work and a servants heart and The Lord is going to bless us.

    iWork and iReap

  29. Then he said to the disciples, “Anyone who accepts your message is also accepting me. And anyone who rejects you is rejecting me. And anyone who rejects me is rejecting God, who sent me.” (‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭16‬ NLT)

It can be very hard when someone just tells you no I don’t want your church invitation or not interested.  I’ve encountered some of this scenarios while on outreach.  I just keep thinking about outreach as I read this verses.  Sent out by twos just taking the good news.  Our job is simply an invitation to come hear the good news.  There was one perticualr time though that it really grieved my heart and spirit because I could almost imagine what my Lord Jesus felt.  I was at lunch tie. At work and there was this other co-worker that I had been trying to invite to church.  The person started sharing a situation and I started talking, sharing Jesus, the Light, into the peeson’s life.  The individual told me straight up, “can you not talk about God please it gets annoying at times” to which I said ok and spent the rest of my lunch not talking with the individual.  It somehow really hurted.  I can only but imagine how the Lord may hurt when us humans reject Him constantly…but everyone will have a choice and we will be judged by such.  My job is to continue to share the Light, dust my feet and continue sharing this message.  There are people out there who are truly hungry for God.  We must continue to go knock on the doors of hearts with this message of salvation.  One of the greatest joys is to see your peers, friends and family come to salvation by repenting of their sins and being baptized in Jesus name and be filled with His Holy Spirit.

  30. Keep praying for the Harvest & for labourers….

2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Spend time with God & his word, in his presence….just linger there.

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

    “Good Part”………………………..

  31. Devotion

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

No amount of serving can replace devotion in relationship with Jesus. We must daily sit at His feet and take time to seek Him. Serving is good but it is not a replacement for relationship.

    Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

    Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

  32. Why we do what we do

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ KJV)

This is why POFW celebrates so much with the new souls that are born into the kingdom. This is why it is so wonderful that children, young people and adults received the Holy Ghost this week end. This is why it was such a blessing that nine people were bAptized and nine people were filled this past Sunday night. We celebrate because their names are written in heaven!

  33. 29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

This Sunday we wil have the chance to meet ‘our neighbors’. They will be the ones who are bound or wounded, the hurting & the lost. We must be prepared to minister to their needs. It’s not just brisket & games, it’s the Lord’s harvest.

  34. 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

We need to remember that not only do we serve the people that we like or are like us and get along with, but we are here to serve everyone, including the people you may not want to be around.

  35. Peace be to this house !!!! 5. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 9. And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
