Luke 9
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.
7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;
8 And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.
9 And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
10 And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.
13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.
14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.
16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;
22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
33 And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.
34 While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.
37 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.
38 And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.
39 And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.
40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.
41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.
42 And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.
43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,
44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,
48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.
49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

JESUS REQUESTS….
I pray that I kisten to Jesus and not look back when dharing the gospel with someone. Its all about You Jesus… I surrender to Your will and not mine. Nothing is more important than seeving you. You are my King. I love you, Jesus.
Wow…..pretty plain and simple. Verse 1-3 MSG “Jesus now called the Twelve and gave them authority and power to deal with all the demons and cure diseases. He commissioned them to preach the news of God’s kingdom and heal the sick. He said, “Don’t load yourselves up with equipment. Keep it simple; you are the equipment. Verses 23-25 MSG “Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you?” Verse 62 MSG “Jesus said, “No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God’s kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day.”
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
The excuses people can come up with why they can not follow Jesus. Jesus reply was very simple: you must put God first in your life. Allow him to be the center of life to you! Let everything else just be what it should be and love God will all your heart.
Jesus said so plain; no man having put his hand to the plough and looking back. We can not ever look back we must always look forward and move forward in the kingdom of God.
56, “For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.”
1 Tim. 1:15, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”
Gal. 1:4, “Who gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.”
Tit. 2:14, “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
Jesus came into this world, not to destroy man, but to save man. He became the ransom for the sins of all mankind. He came to deliver and redeem us from our sins. Thank You JESUS that you became the sacrifice for all of us.
Thank You JESUS for your MERCY and GRACE. Thank You JESUS that we can have life and have it more abundantly in You. Thank You JESUS that you SAVED me and are still SAVING people to day.

The first and last verse of this chapter reflects to contrasting pictures. The Lord has given each of us a purpose in the kingdom. What we do with the opportunity that is before us.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? -John 6:67
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. -John 6:68
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: -Deuteronomy 30:19
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

In these verses Jesus sets his greatest goal to humanity! Do not destroy lives but save them. Our goal in the church is to help peoples loved be renewed and have abundant life not to destroy them.
If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. (Luke 9:24 NLT)
This is what we used for GForce last time. But this is so true it will be hard it’s all up to you do you want to live for yourself or stay where you’re at and have a short life or do you want to live for God and have a long life. God has things for that you don’t even see.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Nothing in this world is worth gaining if we have to lose our soul. We should not be ashamed to worship the one true God! And proclaim his name to the world. We would hate for God to be ashamed of us, so we do not need to be ashamed of him.
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62 NKJV)
Once you are truly involved in the kingdom and really seek his will. Don’t look back don’t want and desire the things of this world and the things you used to do. Remember you already overcame and defeated those things. There is nothing more beautiful then this right here to be with and walk with Jesus everyday.

Nothing in this life, whether offered or suffered is worth looking away from JESUS for. The attitude and mentality of looking back or away from the Kingdom is backsliding, the backsliding mentality leads to backsliding actions.
The PLOW in verse 62 represents WORK and the HANDS represents US. Life is filled with challenges and opportunities to choose right and wrong, the world or the Kingdom of GOD.
Unworthy or unfit are we if we fail to keep our focus on the the Kingdom of GOD and the LABOR of it. NOW is a bad time to pull back and stop serving.
At ThePOFW we are presented with continual opportunity to serve with HANDS on the PLOW. I encourage you to get involved in Kingdom WORK and do not stop until we reach heavens gate.

It’s interesting to note that Jesus never asked the young man if he truly wanted deliverance. Jesus just cast out the devil and called the disciples faithless.
Jesus gave the disciples miracle-working power and authority their powers were fuyher demonstraration that Gods kingdom was breaking in on mans world VS-1.

If the devil could kill us he would. He will try to do whatever it takes to keep us from being saved. It’s a war for our soul and the devil fights dirty but the victory is in Jesus!
Thy will be done
Luke 9:23 (KJV Strong’s)
“23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
The word deny means
(Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary) g0533. ἀπαρνέομαι aparneomai; from 575 and 720; to deny utterly, i.e. disown, abstain: — deny.
to denyto affirm that one has no acquaintance or connection with someoneto forget one’s self, lose sight of one’s self and one’s own interests
Mounces says it means renounce, disregard, and disown
(CWSB Dictionary) oneself, to deny oneself, meaning to disown and renounce self and to subjugate all works, interests and enjoyments
Denial of self means that we push everything pertaining to us aside. Our wants, desires, dreams, aspirations, needs, opinions are all placed on hold and subject to the will of God.
Sacrifice precedes fire. When we put ourselves aside Jesus is exalted and his will accomplished.
v62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
No turning back !!!
“And they did not receive him”. If the King of kings (Jesus) allowed it, one would be wise to also. “For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.” One must do as God (Jesus), if one desires to be his. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!
God doesn’t see things the way we see things, but thank God he is patient with us. “For his ways aren’t our ways, nor his thoughts our thoughts.” Jesus’s plan from the beginning was to SAVE not to Condemn/Destroy…………………………

Luke 9:17 Here Jesus not only provides miraculously in the face and human need; He does so in abundance.Twelve baskets remain, a convincing proof for the doubting 12 disciples.
God always gives in abundance! !!
The Legend
7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;
I pray that the legacy that I leave for my children will be one of faith and miracles.
Here we see that the man of God was so well known for miracles signs and wonders that when they heard of the works they automatically thought it must be him. We build our legacy on the anointing hearts we touch. I want to touch them all.
Destiny
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
Jesus’ destiny was to go *up* not down, though He would pass through death and the grave. But those things could not hold Him. Likewise, we must not look at challenges and setbacks as a tomb of finality but an opportunity along the road to destiny.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

As a child. If you really look at it, a child’s attitudes is not that of “what’s in it for me?” yet rather I just have fun doing stuff. Little kids can be great servants you can send them to do this it bring that and they do it. Humbleness is what is all about. To be great in God’s kingdom one must make himself a servant of all. It is God that’s puts up kings and sets down others. The Lord Jesus gave us the greatest example. Him whom I shall serve came to serve and to minister unto others. He healed, delivered and restored. If you humble yourself God will exalt you at His time.
11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
I’m thankful for a God of healing…. we need healed right now.
Protection from unbelievers?
Luke 9:60
” But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.””
This seems harsh but it is possible that they would have talked the apostle out of following Jesus. God knows best and his answers should be followed. He sees beyond what we see.

Whatever Jesus has called us to do we must obey whether we want to or not. We must leave everything and just follow Him. Jesus has called each and every one of us to be his disciples. This is why we were created to praise him and to spread the gospel.
Who am I?
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? When peoplesay that you are something or someone that you are not, don’t be dismayed. Find someone close to you. The people who know the real you (full of The Lord) and see what they say. They sould be able to speak to you of your role in the kingdom. Ask JESUS who you are. The Lord will encourage you.

When we are in our walk with God, we must remember to never look back to the things of the past and the things that tied us down in our spiritual walk with God. For the things of our past were the passions of our fleshly bodies when we weren’t walking with God. When we’re called into God’s calling in our lives, he wants us to keep our eyes forward for what he has ahead of us.
