Luke 15

1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

  1. 11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

The story of the Prodigal son is one of the greatest in the Word of God!
First he is ready to leave home and make it on his on, but got caught up in riotous living: always a problem for anybody.
Hungry and homeless, an exact recipe for remembering what you had at home.
I love the way verse 17 says it, when he came to himself! If we can always come to our senses and see clearly what the problem is, then we can correct the problem.
We must know the problem before we can correct the problem. Many times people do not recognize what the real problem is. Therefore we are not able to correct.
The enemy deceives us and blinds our eyes from the truth, The only solution is seeing things in our right mind.
God is ready for the backslider to come home, but he must be humble and ready to repent.
Help us God to see us as you see us and move up in God.

  2. The three stories in this chapter are all about:

    1) what wondered off and then was rescued
    2) what was lost and then found
    3) what was dead and now alive

The end of verses 4-7 MSG says “Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue.

The end of verses 8-10 MSG says “Count on it—that’s the kind of party God’s angels throw every time one lost soul turns to God.”

The end of verses 31-32 MSG says “This brother of yours was dead, and he’s alive! He was lost, and he’s found!’”

We cannot get caught up in “who’s who” and “what about me’s”……this is about the lost and dying world that needs Jesus. Let’s do some searching this weekend and not stop until we find them ALL!

  3. Ready to clothe you with righteousness

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. (‭Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭20, 22-24‬ KJV)

A father always rejoices when His children come home.
Let your eyes be enlightened today. Wake up, how far are you willing to live in sin? See yourself as the Father sees you, and not as you and the world sees and has titled you! Take the blinders off, and see!!

The Lord is coming for His Bride in a blink of an eye, how will you be found?

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭27‬ KJV)

  4. iLove to eat the Word

Something I just saw this morning; I wonder if those who are backslidden saw the church actually celebrate their homecoming if it would cause more of them come home. Example of the celebrations:

    *Jesus Celebrates (verse :5)
    *The angels rejoice (verse :10)

*The elder brother needed to rejoice
    *The sheep needed to rejoice.

  5. A Lost Sheep, a Lost Coin,
    and a Lost Son

Luke 15:8-10 If a woman and her neighbors delight in recovering a solitary coin, and if a shepherd takes joy in rescuing a single sheep, how much more praise worthy is the salvation of a sinner? While some portray God as impersonal or aloof from human affairs Jesus teaches of his concern for every individual

  6. WHAT IS YOUR VALUE????

Our Lord in His great wisdom talks to the Pharisees in a way they will understand the value of $$$$$. In today’s age is the same way, a lot of times all people care is $$$$. All they talk about is $$$$$, and $$$$ is the one thing that makes the world go’round… at least that is what they say when you tell them that $$$$ can buy everything. Jesus takes His time to establish that value, first in the parable of the good shepherd the value is 1 in 100. Then with the parable of the lady the value is 1 in 10. Finally in the parable of the prodigal son the value is 50/50.

REPENTANCE CAN NOT BE BOUGHT WITH THE MIGHTY $$$$$…

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

YOUR LIFE HAS A VALUE, YOUR SIN DESTROYS…. JESUS PAID YOUR PRICE IN FULL AT THE CROSS WITH EVERY SINGLE DROP OF HIS BODY. THE ONLY COST IS HUMILITY, GO BACK TO YOUR FATHER’S HOUSE AND SAY “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.” THEN WATCH AS JESUS MAKES THE BIGGEST PARTY TO WELCOME YOU HOME AT LAST.

YES YOU ARE THAT VALUABLE TO HIM!!!!!!!!!

  7. 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

In these last days, the Spirit of God is drawing the hearts of prodigals to him. WE, the CHURCH, must have the right attitude when they arrive. Rejoice with those that rejoice. Celebrate their return.

If the God of all can show mercy, who are we to shun them. To much is given ,much is required. We were given His favor, grace and mercy and it is required of us to show favor, grace and mercy.

  8. 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

10 In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”

31 “His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours.
32 We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”

We mustn’t be consumed with a mind of, “hey what about me?” Instead focus the attention on all who are lost, those who are looking for salvation. We must cheer them on and celebrate their new life in Christ!

  9. THE REWARD FOR SELFISH ARROGANCE

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

Life is a JOURNEY filled with decisions that define our character and determine our destiny. We witness this scenario consistently. “Give me what belongs to me and I will do what I want to do”.

However is anyone knew the price of that journey prior to making the leap I am confident that many would reconsider.

He WENT, He WASTED, He WORKED, then He WANTED.

    iRepent
    iPray
    iPraise
    iWork
    iGIve
    iReap

  10. 28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

We do not need to be consumed by selfish thinking where all we think about is ourselves, but rather go out and find the lost and the hurting and bring them into the presence of God.

  11. Brother, dont be a brother hater!!

    Vs 28/
The father blessed his son that went a stray and came back home. Theres alot of saints out there that want to judge the sinner/lost, but in the end they get blessed the most for comming back to Jesus. Love the sinner but hate the sin. Jealousy wont get you know where.

P.s. dont please man just the man of God, and the Lord but mostly the Lord and see what happens. If we can see this we would be so much happier.

  12. 3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

This is a perfect example about reaching the lost and shows the importance of doing outreach to relatives, backsides, neighbors, associates, to whomever is lost.

  13. The lost

Three parables are giving to depict the lost. 1) people who are lost and know it, yet cannot find their way back. 2) people who are lost and have no idea they are lost 3) people who are lost and know it and know how to get back to their rightful place. When we recognize the state one is in, it helps us to know how to pray for them.

  14. 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

One of the greatest things that stands out in this wonderful story of the prodigal is that one simple word with great value. Compassion. The father of the prodigal showed compassion. How many times are we not in need of this act of mercy from The Lord. We must show compassion to all those that The Lord is calling back home. We must love like He loves and show mercy and grace that has been shown to us.

  15. A Portrait Of Salvation

4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

If we were to describe Jesus, we would likely quickly come up with the title “Savior,” but just how do we apply that to our lives? Is He a savior who comes begrudgingly, with anger and scorn? Or is He a savior who comes apathetically, distracted and careless? Or is He a savior who comes condemningly, with reminders of failings and weaknesses?

Or is He the Savior who hung upon the cross for us, who comes in love, meekness, gentleness, kindness… When we think of our failings and sins, we can struggle to truly see Jesus as not only the one who can pull us from our mess but do so lovingly and compassionately with joy. Our view of Him can be distorted deeply by lies of the enemy that would paint Him as one who saves but does not truly love. But our portrait of Jesus must come from His truth, rooted in His Word. Knowing Him, seeing Him for who He is, opens the doors of our hearts wide to truly receive His love and salvation.

    Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

    Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

  16. “And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.” They were always looking to find fault, and influence others negatively. One that continually looks too find fault, may just be the one with fault. “And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.” Focusing on another’s blessing without clearly seeing all, may just be why one cannot see. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  17. 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

Doing what you know you’re not suppose to do.

Let’s say that this young man was Jewish. If that were the case then he ate what was food to that was unclean of him. Swine. Pigs. He knew what was right yet he decided to go against what he knew. This is like us. When we do things that we know are not of God,yet we do them. We eat that what we say we would never partake of. We must be so carful not to eat of the unclean spirits. We are overcomers through Jesus Christ.

  18. 29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

We must have the right mentality in the kingdom. God saved us for relationship. He doesn’t base our success on how much we serve, or how righteous we live.

Our success is based solely on relationship to him. We do not love him because we serve. We serve because we love him.

  19. 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

All the lost that will one day find there way back to God, God using us as a vessel, not to interrogate or criticize, name-call, etc. but to rejoice with the lost for a return to God. It takes us to be I tuned with the Spirit of God to speak the word. Winning the lost should be our top priority, ministry before any thing.

  20. The reason behind western day…

We are claiming back those who have gone away. We are finding those that are lost. Tomorrow we will be showing the guests what good things the father has for those in his home. It is not time to be the jealous brother, but for us to have the same spirit as the man with the sheep, the lady with the coin, or the father of the house. –Let’s keep watch and find those who have been lost.

  21. We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’” (‭Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭32‬ NLT)

Don’t give up on people. They’ll come “home”. And don’t get mad when they come back.

  22. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Every single one of us has a purpose in this world, we are all sent here to help with the lost sheep in this world. Each has a different job and different area we serve in, but we all serve to help herd the lost sheep. For this is God’s will and if we are not helping with this, we are not helping with God’s will.

For we want everyone to go to heaven and we want everyone to be saved, but some people can’t see the lost and are lost in the dark… they need to be steered towards the light so that they can see.

2 Corinthians 4 1-4: Therefore seeing we this ministry as we have received mercy, we faint not.

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of the God

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believeth not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God should shine unto them.

  23. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine

Hallelujah this is what happened this past weekend 🙂 Great JOY that I get when somebody gets baptized or wants to get baptized 🙂 even if you have to go thru trails for a soul and the end when they repent and start serving the Lord it’s so worth it! Lets go and keep spreading his Word 🙂

  24. Lost Sheep !! 3. And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4. What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5. And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. PRAISE YE THE LORD !!!!
