John 6

1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

48 I am that bread of life.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.

58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

  1. I watched while standing at the Wailing Wall the Jewish men sitting nearby as they read and studied the word of God. They understand even to this day the importance of hiding the word of God in their hearts.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. -John 5:39

Let us not forget to cherish the word of God and the hope it brings to our lives.

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? -John 6:67

I am that bread of life. -John 6:48

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. -John 6:68

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. -John 1:14

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. -John 6:50

If we are going to be saved we are going to have to eat of the word of God!

  2. 21. Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

This scripture makes me think of deliverance …when we let Him into our situation, He can immediately give us the end result we have been working toward, whether it be financial, spiritual, or deliverance from addictions, He can immediately set you free!

  3. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. (‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭35, 51‬ KJV)
True life is found in HIM alone!

  4. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

God has the resources to satisfy every spiritual appetite. Everyone that is hungry or thirsty can be filled and quenched by our father. We need that bread of life to make it in this life. My desire is to get as much bread as I can, that I may be able to help someone else.

  5. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

Labor is not a word we all like to use, as a matter of fact most of us try to stay as far away from labor as we can.
What we labor for is more important than anything in this life! We work for all kinds of things in life. What do we want the most? What we value in our life to be important matters most! Do we want to have external life and eat those things that matter most, Jesus said meat that perished not, but endureth.
We need meat that endures if we want to go to heaven and go to the next level.
God help us to have the integrity to endure to the end!!!!

  6. iLove to eat the Word
10“Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) 11Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted. 12After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.”

This scripture has always reminded me of Psalm 23

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

The truth is that Jesus is the good shepherd and he will lead and guide us if we allow him to. The people were hungry and he had them sit in the green grass while he multiplied the resources. Sometimes we need to be still and know he is God.

  7. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
If you are hungry and thristy spiritually God is calling you. God is the only source that can heal a broken heart, so what are you waiting for call on the name of Jesus today!

  8. “And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.” One that seeks the Lord (Jesus) only to see miracles, is limiting oneself. “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” Whereas one that seeks the Lord for life, and life more abundantly, has truly seen. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  9. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, Moses didn’t give you bread from heaven. My Father did. And now he offers you the true bread from heaven. (‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭32‬ NLT)

Only my God can do something like this. No other but only him.

  10. Daily Bread

    John 6:48 (KJV Strong’s)
” 48 I am that bread of life.”

    Matthew 6:11 (KJV Strong’s)
” 11 Give us this day our daily bread.”

Jesus makes a remarkable statement. He says he is the bread. The word bread is the same word used in the Lord’s Prayer for daily bread, and is also the same used for shew-bread.

“The word showbread means bread of the presence. The shewbread is described as twelve cakes/loaves baked from fine flour, arranged in two rows/piles on a table standing before God; each loaf/cake was to contain two Omers of flour.

Biblical scholars view this as suggesting that the showbread was originally a sacrificial meal which was viewed as being shared with the deity.” – wiki

(Fire Bible Study Notes) The bread placed on the table represented the Lord’s presence that provided everything the people needed in life (cf. Lev 24:5-9; Isa 63:9). It points to Christ, who is called the “bread of life”.

When we pray give us this day our daily bread we are not ordering our happy meal. We are asking for two things. The show and the bread. The show means presence. Not entertainment but communion. This is reflective of our prayer life and life of prayer. We are to be always in his presence.

The bread is his word, his life, his spirit. It is the sustenance to our souls, the strengthening of our bodies. It is the bread of life.

Praying for daily bread is really praying for Jesus. We are saying Jesus I pray for your word, and your presence. Not only do I want to learn of you but I want to spend time with you. DAILY

    Let’s eat.

  11. THE MYSTERY OF THE SUPERNATURAL

Understanding the deity of GOD is an imperative goal for the believer. We know the manna that fell form heaven was JESUS, we know that the WORD of GOD is JESUS, however the struggle for many is believing THE MYSTERY OF THE SUPERNATURAL and eventually turn away or turn back from following JESUS.

  12. 6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

I love my God, He does have sense of humor. He knew the answer to the fact that they could not buy bread??? He knew the only answer, the only way is HIM… I am the truth and the way and no one can come to the Father but through Me. He is the ONLY TRUTH AND THE ONLY WAY to SALVATION!!! He is the Bread of Life, The River of Living Waters, THE ONE TRUE GOD. Come to Him and you will NEVER thirst or hunger again!!!!

  13. 9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

    Underestimating the blessings of God

How many of us put limitations on God? We all do.
What are you bringing to the table? Are you bring your all?
To gain your blessing , we must bring our all.

  14. John 6:53 Jesus said to them. Very truly I tell you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in them.

  15. v9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
v11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he has given thanks, he distribute to the disciples , and the disciples to them that set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

They poeple ate until they were full, and the fragmentsleft over filled twelve baskets .
When we give to the world what GOD gives us, as the young lad did, GOD will take care of us. Now that’s true joy in living for GOD.

There’s no joy in living just for self.

  16. 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

No one can compare to the God I serve! Lord I want more of you added unto me each and every day so that I will never hunger or thirst again!!

  17. Plan B

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

Are we guilty of having a Plan B just in case “this God thing doesn’t work out?” It sounds somewhat absurd but this mentality can sneak in subtly in many ways, undermining our faith until God becomes Plan B and our former substitutes take center stage. We can’t afford to lean to our own understanding or we will find ourselves falling short in finishing the course of the faith.

    Proverbs 3:5-7
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

  18. After Jesus did the miracles the next day the crowd set out to find Jesus. When Jesus is found he changles there motives for seeking him the crowd insist he provides bread presenting himself the true bread from heaven. Beliving means eating his flesh as bread and drinking his blood. To find salvation only by fully participating through faith in all Jesus is and has done.

  19. 12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

    The fragments

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

We live our lives and strive for the best that we can do but often times we find ourselves in a place of fragments. We have fragments of time left after a day’s work. We have a fragment of patients left after dealing with life. We have a fragment of money after paying what bills we can. We have a fragment of energy left after ministring. But he came to put our fragments together. When I am week he is made strong. He is an expert of making something out of nothing. The same with what is left in the mission field of Our city. I believe that the last days are here and it is time for him to gather in all the fragments that none may be lost. But he didn’t gather the fragments, the deciples did. It isn’t ip to God to gather the fragments it is up to us. As we reach and pray we will see this last day fragment come together as a mighty church in Fort Worth.

The Bishop said you have to pray like it all depends on God and work like it all depends on you.

  20. Avoiding position
    John 6:15
    “Jesus Walks on the Water
So Jesus, perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone.”

They wanted to make him king, this would cause him to rival Rome and Herod. Jesus wanted no part of such kingship and went to be alone.

At times in life, we have to chose to withdraw ourselves from others and their intentions and draw near to God.

  21. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

48 I am that bread of life.

Thank you Jesus for being the one that gives bread where we no longer feel, live eternal. This was what he was talking about when he had to face Satan as he was tempted in the wilderness.

Matthew 4: 3-4 And when the tempter came to him, he said, if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live be bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

  22. Follow Jesus….trust Him.

    Vs 35/
Talksabout comming to him (Jesus)…He is the true vine. Only He can give us eternal life…this is a big problem w me is going to other people and sometimes I get thier views on a certain topic. When all I need is Jesus He will walk with you and talk with you…dont need ANYONE besides Him and His Name is JEsUS!! 🙂

  23. Verse 40 AMP “For this is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.” Thank you Lord, in you I trust.

  24. 38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the day.

These scriptures give hope for the backsliders, that he should raise them up in the last day -because it’s not his will that any should perish!
(I understand that it also means the dead in Christ will be raised.) However, a revival of backsliders will fill our churches all over this nation! The enemy has captured those who would be preachers, teachers & evangelists and this is an army yet to rise up. They are deceived, they were hurt or wounded in His house & he did not die on the cross for them to die lost. I pray for sons & daughters to come back to this truth, for their backsliding to be healed and for restoration. When these souls return and are delivered, what a mighty army to fight against the one who held them captive so long there will be! I hear chains being broken & an army rising up! In Jesus name!

  25. 21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

“And immediately the ship was at the land whither they went…” The question comes to mind; how many times do we deviate and delay our destiny by not letting God into our ship. Where are we going? The truth is that without Him all we do is go in circles like the children of Israel. If we are to stay in the boat we need to make sure Jesus is in it. It is only with Him that we can arrive at our destination/purpose/promise I’m life. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

  26. JESUS walks on water !!!!! 17. And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Ca- per’-na-um. And it was now dark, and Je’-sus was not come to them. 18. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. 19. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Je’-sus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. 20. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!! You are my Hope !!!! Mercy and grace follow you !!!!!
