Acts 10

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. 45. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    46. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

    47. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Thank You, Jesus! Now the door is open for the rest of us!

  2. 43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

The power of the spoken word! As soon as he mentioned the name, the Holy Ghost fell.
What a demonstration of Gods power, by what we read that he was preaching, it looks like he had only preached for 15 minutes.
If we would embrace Pastor Watts vision, God can equip us now for the ministry that is coming. We’re we can just speak to crowd of people and the Holy Ghost fall on all of them without laying hands or praying extensively, just through the spoken word. Now thats limitless ministry!

  3. Because of His Mercy

Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10‬:‭34-35‬ NLT)

  4. Verse 2 MSG “He was a thoroughly good man. He had led everyone in his house to live worshipfully before God, was always helping people in need, and had the habit of prayer.” Imagine what would happen if we all had the habit of prayer, to the point where we are brought to God’s attention, like Cornelius. Answer: Explosive move of MORE!

Verses 34-36 MSG “Peter fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open. The Message he sent to the children of Israel—that through Jesus Christ everything is being put together again—well, he’s doing it everywhere, among everyone.” He is Lord of ALL!

Verse 41 KJV “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.” It doesn’t matter if your an insider, outsider, nosider…..the word is for all who choose to hear!

  5. The Blessings given to Gentiles

God is so AWESOME!!!! I am so thankful for the moment where we were included and allowed to be Baptized in Jesus Name for the remission of sins and received the Holy Ghost, although here they received the Holy Ghost first and then got baptized in Jesus Name and most importantly we were no longer unclean!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You Jesus AMEN!!!!!

  6. iLove to eat more Word

Acts 10:4 “And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.”

I just heard someone preach a message called “The Book of Remembrance.” I’m pretty sure they did not mention this verse. However, this scripture once again affirms that our deeds and works are being recorded into a book and God looks through that book and rewards people from their works of righteousness.

  7. 10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

This day The Holy Ghost fell on the gentiles as well as the Jews!

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Peter came to the reality that all people were created with the same ability to worship God!

  8. Cornelius

    Acts 10:2 (Weymouth New Testament)
2 He was religious and God-fearing–and so was every member of his household. He was also liberal in his charities to the people, and continually offered prayer to God.

Acts 10:2 (Young’s Literal Translation of the Holy Bible – YL)
2 pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,

Acts 10:2 (The Complete Jewish Bible)
2 He was a devout man, a “God-fearer,” as was his whole household; he gave generously to help the Jewish poor and prayed regularly to God.

When others turned their back on the Jewish poor, Gentile Cornelius was there.
When others avoided doing kind acts, or not thinking of kind acts Cornelius looked for opportunity.
When others tried to live life their own way, adopting the customs of the Romans, Cornelius prayed to God continuously.
He was religious and God fearing yet according to Jewish tradition he was WITHOUT HOPE. He was uncircumcised, and unclean for the temple.

However something amazing was happening in the portals of heaven. A gentile, without hope, who gave of himself continuously was rapidly accumulating a debt.

God, bound by his word saw Cornelius, his love for him, and his willingness to give. It became so unbearable that God had to do something because God will be indebted to no man.

How valuable are you to heaven? If your time on earth ended would the kingdom suffer loss? I realize God can use, and raise up anybody but there are some people that become valuable to the kingdom.

Cornelius became valuable. So valuable that he became the catalyst for you and I to enter this great relationship with the Lord.

I heard a message that said “if you put God’s house in front of your house he will take care of your house.”

No one can ever look at Cornelius life and wonder. He had it, and he walked in it.

  9. 34, “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:”
43, “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
44, “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.”
45, “And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles, also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46, “For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,”
47, “Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?”
48, “And he commended them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”

Ephesians 3:6 says, “That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.”

Thank You JESUS that you are no respecter of persons!
Thank You JESUS that we have received remission for our sins!
Thank You JESUS that we have been baptized in your name!
Thank You JESUS that we have received the Holy Ghost!
Thank You JESUS that we are fellowheirs!
Thank You JESUS that we are of the same body!
Thank You JESUS that we are partakers of your promise!

    WE ARE SO BLESSED !!

  10. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

If God were a respecter of persons, where would an old sinner like me be?

  11. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

Even being a good person is not enough for salvation. A person still needs the Holy Ghost.

  12. Memorial

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God

Memorial-to be mindful of, to remember, to call to mind to think of and feel for a person or thing to hold in memory, keep in mind to make mention of

    Matthew 6:2
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

It is important for us to live everyday as our last. Storing up prayers and deeds into heaven that we may reap reward not only in heaven but while we are still here on earth.

  13. Obedience in the Holy Ghost…

I thankyou Jesus for giving me the Holy Ghost 10years ago. I HAVENT HAD ANYTHING THAT LONG…..
    BUT I HAVE YOU JESUS.

I also pray for others that need deliverance or bondages thar need to be set free. But I give this all to the Lord and give Him all the glory. Cause with. Out the Holy Ghost and with power and with prophecy and if we are burned for His Name sake andwe dont have love we are like a clanging cymbal(Cor.13).

Im very greatful and it took me along time to see and have the LLord to reveal to me about the Holy Ghost ect. But now I know we have to be ye Holy for I am Holy….says the Lord Jesus.

  14. Who am I that you are mindful of me oh Lord!

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

This should be the prayer of the church that our prayers are so strong and unified that God takes them in remembrance!!

  15. A revelation of truth came to Cornelius because of divine appointment orchestrated by God. Cornelius obeyed the Lord when he said send for one called Simon Peter, and Peter obeyed the vision he saw. Salvation came to all those in the room with the infilling of the Holy Ghost and baptism in Jesus name.

Who is God going to direct our steps to today? Daily we must be sensitive and obedient to the nudging of the Spirit of God so that we don’t miss those God has appointed us to share His truth with.

  16. 34 Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.
35 In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. (NLT)

34 & 35 Peter fairly exploded with his good news: “It’s God’s own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you’re from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open. (MSG)

Hallelujah, I am so grateful God is no respecter of persons. He is waiting on us to reach those who are lost, those who have a sincere hunger for Him that are ready to do whatever it takes to get more of Him. Use us, use me Lord to do the will of Your kingdom!

  17. 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Everyone must be baptized in Jesus name no way around it if you want to be saved.

  18. 9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

I always wondered why Peter would choose to go on the rooftop to pray. Vs 6 says that he was staying with Simon the tanner and was by the sea side. When I imagine living by the sea side I think of tranquil waves and calming shores. Out on sea shore someone could have stopped him to fellowshipHe was a guest in another mans house, but he needed to get away. Something inside of Peter was stirring up, leading him to the trance Jesus was about to give him. He found a quiet place where he could hear from the Lord. He was receptive, like Moses when he climbed the Mount to recieve the 10 commandments (twice) and when Jesus would get away to pray. Jesus will show us awazing revelation if we can find a place to quiet our spirits, humble ourselves and be receptive to what His Spirit has to tell us.

  19. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

    Devout- fervently believing
    Fear- reverence
    Alms-compassion
    Prayed all the time

Hallelujah!!!!This is what we need to do to be able to see Gods vision/will. We have to believe with all our heart in Him, obey Him, have compassion and love towards His people, and pray continuously!!! So happy I saw this because by doing these things we are going to be sensitive to what God wants us to do and it’s our choice to do it or not. But like Pastor said if you feel intimidated or scared about doing what God has commanded you to do just say JESUS, JESUS, JESUS because the devil trembles when he hears the name of JESUS 🙂 HALLELUJAH!!!! I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me 🙂

  20. GOD IS IN CONTROL

Often we find ourselves in position to be used of GOD, but for fear of what others; friends or family would say we fail to obey and follow the voice or nudge of the LORD.

GOD is now seeking someone to save that is lost, at the same time he is seeking someone to use to save them. May the LORD find us doing HIS will and obeying HIS voice.

Peter did not fully understand what was happening, but thanks be to GOD that he obeyed the voice of GOD. The TRUTH is that we may never fully understand what GOD is doing to, for or through us, the for us to answer: IS GOD IN CONTROL?

If we are willing and obedient, then GOD IS IN CONTROL and souls will be saved and lives will be changed, people will be baptized in JESUS name, the gift of the Hily Ghost will be poured out, bodies will be healed and hearts will be mended.

GOD is speaking to us today, lets together listen to HIS voice and obey.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  21. Acts 10:25 as Peter entered the house Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. But Peter made him get up. Stand up he said. I am only a man myself. While talking with him Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. HE said to them you are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a gentle. .But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean.

  22. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Praise God that Peter was obedient and thus opening the door for the Gentiles to receive the Holy Ghost! Woohoo! Thank you, God, for not being “respecter of persons” but viewing all of us the same 🙂

  23. 11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

We have to be careful to listen to God’s voice in our lives, it may sound crazy the things God tells us to do but when we follow his path it will al make sense in the end

  24. “And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.” Because of Peter’s prayers and obedience, he received a vision that led to souls hearing of God (Jesus). One must pray and be obedient to the word of God and man of God, for there are souls that may only hear of Jesus (God), from you (I); “God is no respecter of persons.” What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  25. Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10‬:‭34-35‬ NLT)

We should never judge by color or nationality. God died for not one type of person but all people. We should take His love as an example to everyone we come in contact…

Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world!

  26. Continuous praise

    Acts 10:46
For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered,

The choice of verb here denotes that they were speaking in tongues for a continuous time. Hearing them speaking implies it was a continuous action. Rather than they spoke in tongues. Notice the difference in the NASB and the KJV.

It’s like saying I studied last night vs I was studying last night. One implies a continuous action.

The NASB translates it correctly in tense. The word λαλούντων shows a continuous action.

This proves that it was a consistent language and refutes the argument that it is a short phenomenon.

We are to continually praise him. It’s no different whether in tongues or our native language.

  27. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Thank God for the Holy Ghost. The outpouring to all men.

  28. Your reputation precedes you…

What if they would have announced Cornelius as a scoundrel or someone with a bad reputation? I’m sure that Peter would have given a second thought at least of opening the invitation for him and his company to come in, but the things that were said about Cornelius were a good report and it was easy for Peter to accept him. We as Christians are told to protect our testimony. Our testimony is what people know about who we are. Their perception of those things become their reality of us. All they can do is judge us by the evidence set before them. We have to put peace before pride and always be on alert to what our testimony is speaking.

  29. More trust in God.
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me? And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. (‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭28-33, 44-45‬ KJV)

You have to trust God that when he tells you something that it was really him. In this chapter the men were breaking the law by being in the same house–trust. You have to have trust that you were told to share JESUS with them. You have to trust that JESUS will show himself mighty in the face of obedience.

    Trusting God = faith.
Faith = God working in your favor.
God working in your favor = more faith.

It’s a cycle. We have to have MORE Faith and Trust in God.

  30. v 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

v35 But in very nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

The early church had a passion and a mission.
The challenge is to break out of mind barriers
    so GOD CAN WORK.
GOD desires that HIS CHURCH reach all people of the world with HIS TRUTH .

  31. Acts 10:2New Living Translation (NLT)
2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household. He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.

We need to pray and read Gods word daily to grow.
Thank you Jesus thank you. I love you Jesus.

  32. Love

The love of God crosses all boundaries of race, ethnicity, economic status, gender, etc. There is such a beauty in seeing the church worship together in diversity without prejudice or other such hindrances. It is loving those very different from us that we can reveal a particular worship to God in acknowledging how amazing He made mankind to be in so many different ways. After the flood, He commanded for the people to go out and repopulate the earth. As they eventually went out, there arose over time physical differences, and gene pools became more distinct, and the diversity of mankind became apparent. Nations arose and multitudes spread while the hand of the Lord in creation was further displayed. As we go forth with the gospel to teach all nations, we cannot lose sight of how wonderfully made each individual and people are and how their diversity points back to the mighty hand of God first forming man back in Gensis.

    Psalm 106:2
Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? who can shew forth all his praise?

    Psalm 139:14
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

    Psalm 145:3-4
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.

  33. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

And every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.  I am thankful that as gentile I can stand here and say the Lord Jesus is God of all.  That his grace and mercy extend to all kindreds and His love fills all who recieve Him.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts 2:38-39 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

  34. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

People still receive the Holy Ghost today this same way. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today & forever! Thank you Jesus!
