Acts 14

1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

2 But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

6 They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

7 And there they preached the gospel.

8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:

9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

24 And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

28 And there they abode long time with the disciples.

  1. v27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

All of the powers of the enemy cannot prevail against the church, for it is the plan and purpose of God and it shall prevail in victory.

Its good to rehearsed all that GOD has done with us and for us .

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are ture, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are good report; if there be any virture, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
    Philippians 4:8

    I Am Victorious

  2. 19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

After his brethren gathered around, he was able to recover and return to the ministry…it must have been because they were helping and encouraging him, not kicking him while he was down and wounded.

  3. 13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

Doing the will of God and preaching his word does not make us special except that we have the privilege of being His servant. Something we should not take lightly.

  4. iLove to eat more Word

    “Faith to be Healed”
Paul, as he preached, saw a man who was crippled from his birth. There was something in this man that wanted “more” in life then what he had. As Paul preached, faith welled up in the man and God did a miracle in his life.

We are not waiting on God for our miracle but God is waiting for us to have faith to receive our miracle. “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

  5. Got FAITH?

While they were at Lystra, Paul and Barnabas came upon a man with crippled feet. He had been that way from birth, so he had never walked. He was sitting and listening as Paul preached. Looking straight at him, Paul realized he had faith to be healed. So Paul called to him in a loud voice, “Stand up!” And the man jumped to his feet and started walking. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭14‬:‭8-10‬ NLT)
As we have heard many times in the past, you need to mix your faith with the word of GOD! Get into the book, be encouraged.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ KJV)
At times you may feel it’s not happening, but whatever you’re seeking The Lord for will always be in His timing and not your own.
    Key word “Faith”…..

It was by faith that Able brought a more acceptable offering to GOD…..

It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying

It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood.

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed God

It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and too old.

These people were people that were righteous, people that pleased GOD, obeyed GOD, and people who believed GOD!!

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ NLT)

  6. In this chapter we see in verses 19-20 MSG, how Paul was “down” (literally) and many thought “out”; but, when the other disciples rallied and formed a circle about him….he got up. If we do the same for all of those who the devil thinks he has down and out…….BOOM, we (POFW) too will be able to testify of how God has used this church to throw the door of faith wide open so people of all nations can come streaming in as stated in verses 27-28 MSG. Just like the song “I Want It All Back” says “devil if you only knew what I was gonna be after the storm you wouldn’t have even bothered me”….oh yeah, I don’t just want it all back; I want MORE!

  7. By the word of their testimony !!!!

Rev. 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Now that takes FAITH, we need to share what God has done for us so others won’t doubt that He will do it for them also. When people see you act and live on Faith their faith grows also for they desire is in Jesus Christ. God gave each men a measure of faith Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

  8. 15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

Today, we are men just like others that God has place a calling on. The message is, that God can deliver and we no more need to offer sacrifice to god in the manner of dead animals. We now offer the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving in the name of Jesus Christ.

  9. HALELUJAH!!!
27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Sounds like our church!!! HALELUJAH!!! There is no other like POFW. HALELUJAH!!! POFW IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT A CHURCH SHOULD BE LIKE.
I THANK YOU JESUS ABS I PRAISE YOUR HOLY NAME!!! FOR THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU DADDY!!!

    • I totally agree!!! If everyone would see our missions as Christians and how were suppose to be everyday then they would see how POFW is!!

  10. Amen
acts 2 : 38 then peter said unto them repent and be baptized in the name of jesuschrist and ye shall receive the gift of the holy Ghost

  11. From Grace to Grace: MORE Grace

26 And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.
    (Acts 14:26 KJVStrongs)

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
    (Hebrews 4:16 KJVStrongs)

16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well- timed help, coming just when we need it].
    (Hebrews 4:16 AMP)

Grace is defined by many as unmerited favor of God. While this is true there is much more to the grace of God than this. It is his empowerment to do his will.

Grace is revealed through this scripture.

9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:FOR MY STRENGTH is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
    (2 Corinthians 12:9 KJVStrongs)

He grace is his strength in us. For us to do his will we must go to his throne of grace. We go here to receive the ability. We cannot operate in his will without first coming to him.

When we try to do God’s will without first coming to his throne we end up trying in our own strength. This is flesh.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
    (Romans 8:8 KJVStrongs)

Paul warned the church. They started off in the spirit. They were born again, but something happened to derail them.

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
    (Galatians 3:3 KJVStrongs)

It is only by humbling ourselves….

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
    (James 4:6 KJVStrongs)

That we receive grace. This is coming to his throne. We receive more grace, more strength, more power when we humble ourselves at his throne of grace.

    10 and by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace that [is] towards me came not in vain, but more abundantly than they all did I labour, yet not I, but the grace of God that [is] with me;
    (1 Corinthians 15:10 YLT)

8 Moreover, God is powerful to make every grace superabound to you in order that, having always an all- sufficiency in all things, you may superabound to every good work,
    (2 Corinthians 9:8 Wuest)

  12. 19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
The people thought that you could just kill the man of God and destroy God’s word but they learned that day if God doesn’t allow you to die nothing can stop you. God raised up Paul and like nothing he went right on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ!

  13. MORE TO ACCOMPLISH

Life in its challenges and situations presents to us the feeling that we are done, defeated, dreams are shattered, hopes are dashed, vision is marred and we are left feeling lifeless, hopeless and defeated.

When your accusers walk away, the disciples of JESUS will be standing by you. Simply GET UP and GO again. GOD is the author and finisher of our FAITH, life and death are in his hands.

Maybe you have been knocked down or even knocked out, the LORD JESUS has empowered you to GET UP and GO. The WORD of the LORD is speaking to someone today that there is MORE TO ACCOMPLISH for you.

Be encouraged, Get UP and you will be thankful.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray

  14. FLEE TROUBLE

5 And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,
6 They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

Often we are tempted to prove our “toughness” to the LORD and others, we learn from the disciples that every battle is not for us to fight. Often it is the will of GOD to FLEE TROUBLE.

GET UP and GET OUT of that situation that seeks to destroy you.

  15. 9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Faith, Faith, Faith, all you need is a little bit of faith! For your miracle to take place you have to have faith in your situation, you cannot rely on other people’s faith alone! But that does not mean you can’t add your faith to someone else’s for their miracle to take place. I’m believing with Bro. Jeff Lowry that he will be healed, and his blind eyes will be opened!

  16. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

The old adage “it was easy , everyone would do it” applies to most things in life. However, it is especially true for The Kingdom. The Lord does not want the easy. He wants people that are sold out to His cause. So, brothers and sisters find peace in the fact that you are surrounded with some of the elite the world has to offer!

  17. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

    More faith!

  18. 4 But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

Jesus said in Luke 11:17 “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.”

  19. 22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Ain’t that the truth, the road to heaven isn’t an easy one. Never has been and probably never will be but i guess that’s why our reward will be so sweet and so worth it.

  20. 8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:

9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

  21. Sounds good to spread the gospel…in Jesus Name.

I thankyou for the apostles they never gave up they kept on spraking to the towns for the Lord.

    Psalm 68:11(KJV)-
The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

  22. “But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.” Their unbelief had made their hearts so hard, they worked to persuade (deceive) others. Disbelief in one’s heart will not only cost one a miracle, healing or salvation, it can unfortunately affect others. All the more why prayer, the word of God (Jesus) and preaching/teaching is so essential, as the deceiver knows the lack there of will make one vulnerable. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. 1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

    Two worlds together.

As I was reading this. It reminded me of our church. We are a very diversified church with people from all ages. Although we might not see eye to eye on everything. With God and unity we are one of the greatest churches. Thank you Jesus for POFW.

  24. 3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

When you are speaking the word of God into people’s life, there’s no need to be afraid or shy about it, for it’s the good news that everyone needs to hear! When God puts the word in your heart, don’t be afraid to speak it full of boldness to other people who need to hear his word!

  25. 3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Be bold in the Lord! I once heard that they would preach and shout from the roof tops back then. I don’t know how true that is but I can easily imagine the courage and passion it would take to do that. We should be shouting for the God we believe in!

  26. Strength in the Curch

The strength to walk again was found in the brotherhood of the disciples. This is the power of encouragement and helps. We all need one another, we all fall and need help up once in a while. Let us lend a hand up in encouragement for our brothers and sisters in Christ. You never know what God is going to call us to go through but together we will be victorious!!!!

  27. The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. (‭Acts‬ ‭14‬:‭9-10‬ KJV)

It is our faith that causes a healing in our lives. This is also a great example of Paul using the Gifts of the Spirit- Discerning. My prayer is that I would be able to be nudged by God and operate in the Gifts of the Spirit.

  28. What beautiful scriptures of faith and vs. 22 is truly amazing!!
If we could all think of our tribulation in a positive way instead of always thinking “why me Lord don’t you love me why would you let this happen” ” why” “why”
Some things are just life but we will go through much tribulation which should help us grow in Jesus. Those who don’t see it that way are those who live there life in a land of why me attitude which only end up real bad in the long run.
    1 Peter 5:10 KJV
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

And Romans 8:28King James Version (KJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

    Acts 14:21-27
Thank you God, you are good all the time, all the time you are good!!! Hallelujah!!
I love you Jesus and there is no great enough word to describe how wonderful you really are. Jesus my friend, my father, my savior, my all.

  29. 14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

I’m just like you..people of like passions. The apostles displayed a true sense of humbleness not thinking themselves big for the mighty works performed of God by them. They ran in among the the people and recognizing that they are simply men as well. What does then make the difference between them and the apostles? They belived and obeyed. They sought to do the will of God, they gave God the glory and knew who they were. Without Jesus there is nothing we can do. He owns the bery air that we breathe. Before they were all called, the apostles were just normal men going about their business working. Now they are still normal men, but now rather going about their Father’s business.
More of Jesus and less of us.

  30. Plot Twist

Life circumstances can take us in directions we didn’t expect, and can seem negative at the time. But instead of getting hung up on what we feel was lost, we must look at what new opportunities are gained by unforeseen changes. Paul and Barnabas were met with persecution just as things seemed to be getting good in Iconium. However, their flight to escape those coming after them became yet another opportunity to preach the gospel. Our circumstances may look bad but the big picture involves far more than what meets the eye on the surface; we must allow God to trust us to trust Him through every “plot twist” we experience in life.

    Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  31. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Thank you Jesus for that door of faith that you have opened for us here at POFW!!! We were dying spiritually and with no desire to try or work for Gods Kingdom. I am grateful for have been able to found God Fearing Pastors that really do care for every lost soul. Faith is what keeps up going and being able to experience things that only God has the power in doing 🙂 blessed for being part of POFW!!!! A prayer answered!!! Thank you Jesus!

  32. Division kills

    Acts 14:4
But the multitude of the city was divided; and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

Some people were stuck in the old ways and some embraced the new. Churches today face that with change. Some will want things to be as they are and others welcome growth. Change is inconvenient and requires work and sacrifice. The apostles did both to change the world and bring Christianity to its new age of grace with much growth. We must be diligent to practices these principles in our own lives.

Even the refuges from Egypt complained of the change that accompanied their freedom. So when freedom from sin came through the cross, they still rejected it and desired to stay in bondage.

The heart can’t be divided between grace and law. If it is, one will miss the mark one way or another.

  33. Acts 14:18 Then some jews came from Antioch and Imodium and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul and dragged him outside the city thinking he was dead. But after the disciples had gathered around him he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and bananas left for serve.

  34. The multitudes are eating, we just have to fight to keep them.

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren. (‭Acts‬ ‭14‬:‭1-2‬ KJV)

  35. 27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles

    More testimonies

they did not preach and leave but they took out the time to reflect and talk about what was done. They taked about the faith of others which built their faith.
