Acts 18

1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

5 And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12 And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.

17 Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

19 And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

22 And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.

23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

  1. The importance of the Teaching and Spreading the Truth of Jesus Christ and the Baptism in Jesus Name with the Promise of the Holy Ghost with the Evidence of Speaking in other Tongues.

6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.
I thank Jesus for Paul’s decision to share the Truth with the Gentiles for I am one of them. Thank you Jesus!!!!

ALWAYS SPEAK BOLDLY AND WITH OUT FEAR FOR HE WILL BE THERE WITH YOU HE WILL GIVE YOU THE WORDS TO SHARE FOR SALVATION IN HIS NAME. YOU WILL BE BLESSED AS LONG AS YOU SHARE THE TRUTH WITH EVERYONE. MAY THE LORD PROTECT YOU AND KEEP YOU ALL SAFE IN JESUS NAME AMEN!!!!!!!

25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
The Ministry of John the Baptist was that strong that there were people still following his teachings to this day. Once he was taught the Truth he went on to mightily convinced the Jews sharing the Truth of Jesus Christ. You might just be sharing the Truth that will bring the person that will be able to convinced that stubborn family member, so never give up, share the Truth to all that will hear for the ones that don’t will eventually be told by someone else. Give us the strength Lord to share your word with boldness knowing that the seed never goes unanswered. IN JESUS NAME AMEN.

  2. 9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

Paul was told by the Lord to speak and hold not his peace! We as ministers of the gospel should always speak what the Lord wants us to speak. The Lord will make a way for his will to be accomplished, everyday through his word. God uses men everyday to speak to his people, the message they need for this time in their life.
God has all things under control we should trust him to work on our behalf’s.

  3. If we will allow ourselves to be put in places that we can be a witness to the good things of God, then He will give us the words to say and protect us from harm.

  4. Remove ALL fear!

One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision and told him, “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t be silent! For I am with you, and no one will attack and harm you, for many people in this city belong to me.” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭18‬:‭9-10‬ NLT)

Wow!! I am encouraged. Just this morning as I was praying for our city, asking The Lord to bring salvation to Fort Worth. Yes, His Holy Spirit shall draw them to him.

“For many people in this city( Fort Worth) BELONG to ME.”

    GLORY TO GOD!!!! Revival continues!!!!

  5. MORE stewardship: The Wise Steward

    Acts 18:24 (KJV Strong’s)
24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

Apollos name means “given by Apollo.” Apollo was the idol of music, poetry, art, oracles, archery, plague, medicine, sun, light and knowledge.

Apollos was from Alexandria a major center of learning, and intellect. Alexandria had one of the largest libraries known to that world.

If anyone would feel intimated in this scenario it should be Apollos. His name branded him. How could anyone stand and preach the word in the midst of such affluent, and knowledgeable people?

Apollos reminds us of our talents and gifts. Although he did not have the Holy Ghost, or know the full truth, he boldly declared the truth that he knew. He kept a teachable spirit that led him to the fullness of the gospel.

Apollos was a wise steward using what God has given him. This in turn birthed a greater understanding and revelation.

    Matthew 25:23 (KJV Strong’s)
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

  6. Amen
acts 2 : 38 then peter said unto them repent and be baptized in the name of jesuschrist and ye shall receive the gift of the holy Ghost

  7. MORE PERFECTLY

Acts 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement. The most important relationship we will have is in the LORD. Our focus, energy and investment into knowing and explaining the “way of GOD” MORE PERFECTLY. This is an area that we cannot afford to error.

Study FULL, Pray it HOT, Speak it REAL. Make sure all that hear us speak know that JESUS was both LORD and Christ.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iStudy
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  8. 26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
Thought the book of acts the disciples were trying to stress the message that JESUS IS GOD! They were some of the most one God believers there was at the time. They tried to get the point across to everyone who would listen how mighty Jesus was they even convinced Apollo.

  9. 24, “And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.”
25, “This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.”
26, “And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded (to set forth point by point; state in detail. To explain; make plain; interpret; clarify) unto him the way of God MORE perfectly.”

Growing up I had heard of God, and I had heard of Jesus, and that’s all I knew. When I came to a Pentecostal Church, the word of God was expounded unto me MORE perfectly because of Teaching, Preaching, and Home Bible Study.

Thank You JESUS for all Apostolic Men and Women who Teach and Preach your Word MORE perfectly, and for all Home Bible Study Teachers who expound your Word MORE clearly.

  10. But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them, “Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” (‭Acts‬ ‭18‬:‭6‬ NKJV)

Don’t be to hard headed to accept the truth. The teacher is just the messenger your judgement is with the one who sent him.
The messenger loves you enough to tell you the truth.

But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters. ” (‭Acts‬ ‭18‬:‭15‬ NKJV)

No one had time for that.

  11. 23 After spending some time in Antioch, Paul set out from there and traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

24 Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor[a] and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.

27 When Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed. 28 For he vigorously refuted his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus was the Messiah.

I’m so thankful for the grace of God, but we are not saved by grace alone. Too many people today are doing whatever they want and thinking that God’s grace is going to cover them, but this scripture today clearly states, that even those who by grace had believed, still had to experience truth and along with truth comes commandments of the Lord that we must walk in.

  12. Acts18:5 when Sialas and Timothy came from Macedonia Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching testifving to the Jews thatJesus was the Messiah. But when they opposed Paul and became abusive he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them your blood be on your own heads I am innocent of it. From now oi will go to the Gentiles.

  13. 9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

Be not afraid for the Lord is with us! The Lord is on our side, he will protect us from anything the enemies have to throw at us! All we have to do is trust and obey him!

  14. 26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

Somehow this reminded me of other Christians that do not have the full revelation of the oness of God. Many are so sincere that they put all their heart to using the gifts God had given them. And we, the church that carries the apostolic doctrine carry such great truth. This truth must be shared with all. We would be wise to pray that before speaking to some one who already professes faith but needs more Truth, pray to God that they may have a teachable spirit and recieve the revelation and expound the way of God more perfectly. Doing it in love knowing that is a soul whose eternity is at stake. Throughout life. We will many people, some who have never heard, and scholars that seem to have it all, our job is to study to show ourselves approved, share Jesus more perfectly.

  15. iLove to eat More Word

    “More HBS”
26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

There are many denominal preachers out there teaching the Word to the best of their ability walking in the revelation that they have. They’re elegant, dynamic, and extremely talented yet they lack the truth that we enjoy.

By the grace of God we will soon have opportunity, as the influence of The Pentecostals increases, to reach these preachers like Apollos with great regularity.

  16. NLT 5 When Silas and Timothy came from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. 6 But when they opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

You can only preach to someone for so long, and then decide its time to move on. So too will God move on from you. If you continue to reject God, eventually God will not hear your cries or voice when you need him the most.

  17. “And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you”. Sometimes a pause, or a space of time, is best. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  18. 28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

The scriptures say that this man helped to convince the Jews that Jesus was their Messiah, and he did it by shewing the scriptures into the heart of the people. When you show people what the bible has to say in matters of God, it allows him to work in their hearts so that they might see the truth. For the word was with God and the word IS God.

  19. Reassurance

9 And the Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent; 10 for I am with you, and no man will attack you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city.
    (Acts 18:9-10 NASBStr)

We all need to be reassured that we are doing what is right. Jesus strengthen Paul to continue preaching. We cannot get discouraged by the rejection of the gospel. We are searching for whosoever will.

  20. vss. 9-10 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

No matter the opposition or challenges, the Holy Spirit will lead and comfort us.

  21. In reading this chapter today, it reminds me of how we need to be like Paul and share this good news (the truths of God) with everyone. We have no time to lose, no time to waste, the time is now don’t hesitate!

  22. These scriptures show how just a little time expounding the scriptures can start a revival! We never know how God will use someone-even a new convert!

Bring God glory!! Shout it out and make His praise glorious. When we testifiy about what we have seen and heard it will Him glory and the people will be encouraged and saved.

  24. 10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

Amen! For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.(2 Tim 1:7)
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?(Rom 8:31)

Thank you Jesus for your spirit for we are nothing without you

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.(John 15:5)

  25. 6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

not everyone is going to listen we can only lead a horse to the water. A thirsty horse will find a way to drink. We need to witness to all but remember not to continuously toss our pearls to the swine.

  26. Every Need

The Lord knows the needs of His church and knows how to supply for every one. Just as with Aquila and Priscilla, Apollo came uniquely equipped to aid the church in their hour. God supplies our every need not just through divine intervention or outside resources or individuals but through those He has positioned within the body itself:

    Ephesians 4:15-16
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

  27. 9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

    Be MORE bold for God.

  28. Acts 18:6New Living Translation (NLT)

6 But when they opposed and insulted him, Paul shook the dust from his clothes and said, “Your blood is upon your own heads—I am innocent. From now on I will go preach to the Gentiles.”
