1 Corinthians 11

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

17 Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper.

21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

  1. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

  2. WHO DO YOU FOLLOW

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

The statement of Paul to the church at Corinth indicates that in following JESUS Christ we will also follow man in the process. The question we must ask is who is the man following that I am following.

Leadership is influence, influence originates from a god or diety. There are many idols in the world today, therefore many opportunities to follow idolatry. Paul challenges us to follow Leaders that follow JESUS. As well he is challenging Leaders of people to follow JESUS.

As people bing led we are BLESSED to have relationship with the LORD JESUS and thereby know them that labor among us and determine that they follow Christ or idol.

I am hungry for MORE JESUS and seek the LORD JESUS to follow HIM, I encourage everyone that will to follow me only as I follow JESUS.

  3. Verses 29-32 MSG “If you give no thought (or worse, don’t care) about the broken body of the Master when you eat and drink, you’re running the risk of serious consequences. That’s why so many of you even now are listless and sick, and others have gone to an early grave. If we get this straight now, we won’t have to be straightened out later on. Better to be confronted by the Master now than to face a fiery confrontation later.” It is wise to have an open spirit to receive correction and heed these warnings. Thank you Lord for your Word and Truth.

10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

“Because of the angels” is a very interested phrase for the simple reason that the unseen spiritual world hangs in the balance of scripture. These angels are the same angels that were created in the beginning, they were there when Lucifer was the reflector of God’s glory. They also saw the effects of the wicked angels coming out from under the covering of God. They also saw Adam and Eve walk out from under the glory of God. The angels understand the kingdom, and submission in the Kingdom, and I guarantee that there is not a soul on earth that could convince an angelic being that a person is under authority if he or she is not in compliance with this above mentioned verse. Therefore, if we desire the support of angelic assistance in our lives, we must be under authority.

Luke 22:43 “And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.”

If Jesus enjoyed the comfort and the strength of an angel, how much more do we need it? In this particular verse, Jesus had just proven that he was under Authority by Saying, “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” This is what brought the help of the angel.

  5. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
This is why a woman should never cut their hair for it is Her glory and there is power in her covering because it’s a sign of obedience and submission!!!!!

  6. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

There is a day of judgment coming where God will open up the books and judge our actions by his word. Every man will give an account for every idle word said. A man’s works will be tried in the fire. Whatever he builds on the foundation of God whether gold, silver, wood, or stubble will be tried in the fire, and the man will be saved yet as by fire. Only those found written in the lambs book of life will enter in. He will say to those on his right enter into the joy of the Lord, but those on his left depart from me ye worker of iniquity I never knew you.

This judgment is inescapable, and inevitable, however this is truly an open book test. 66 open books that we can read, study, and apply to our lives. This isn’t a test we want to cram for before the final. If we will judge ourselves daily we will make his job much easier in glory.

We do this by maintaining a constant spirit of repentance, by receiving correction, and forever being a student of his word.

By us being our own judge we daily seek out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

  7. 3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man

The covering of the head of the woman or man is plain in these scriptures. The woman’s covering is her hair and if she be uncovered she should be shorn or shaven, but the custom of God is for her head to be covered, with her hair. The man does not have to be covered, thank God, but a man should not pray with a hat on his head or he would be covered by another object.

  8. 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Us as ladies find power in our hair. It is where our strength comes from. This is why it shall remain uncut!

  9. Submission

A man dishonors his head if he covers his head while praying or prophesying. But a woman dishonors her head if she prays or prophesies without a covering on her head, for this is the same as shaving her head. Yes, if she refuses to wear a head covering, she should cut off all her hair! But since it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut or her head shaved, she should wear a covering. A man should not wear anything on his head when worshiping, for man is made in God’s image and reflects God’s glory. And woman reflects man’s glory. For the first man didn’t come from woman, but the first woman came from man. And man was not made for woman, but woman was made for man. For this reason, and because the angels are watching, a woman should wear a covering on her head to show she is under authority. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭4-10‬ NLT)
I’d rather be submissive unto GOD, then to burn because of a rebellious, prideful, contentious spirit!!
Hmm…. Feminism….throw it to the garbage!!!! I see now, NOT WANTING TO SUBMIT!

  10. 15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Nothing is ever worth losing your covering ladies! We must always remember to be obedient and submit to His word and His authority! Don’t ever walk off uncovered!

  11. Who are you Listening to?

1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

I am following men in my life that are truly following Christ. I thank God for that! However, The world can be like Pastor preached this morning, Christlike but not be followers of Christ. Seek out your answers and discernment in the Holy Ghost and the Word of God. If the ones that your following do not line up with it then you are being led astray.

  12. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

We must examine ourselves. We must always keep ourselves accountable. As we learned on Friday and Saturday we must stay accountable to many people in our lives. Thank God for the teach of the church. To help us grow

  13. 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

There is a way that seems right to man, but the end of those ways are the ways of death. Unless we search the scriptures and find God’s way, we will do what’s right in our own eyes and be lost in the end! It is not a grievous thing for a woman’s hair to be uncut! And as vs 14 says: even nature itself teaches us that a mans hair shouldn’t be long. This makes me think of many scenarios where a man is working and his hair gets in his way of his tools, etc. I’m thankful for my covering, it is my power with God.

  14. “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” One (I) would be very wise to compare self against the word of God (Jesus), now. For once one takes life’s last breath, then one (I) will face the Judge (Jesus). What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  15. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
The Lord is Just always. He does not show favoritism nor hatred towards us but judges all of us fairly. I am so glad that I don’t have that job because I would not be as gracious as He is!

  16. 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

The writer is saying first that there should be no divisions among the People of God and secondly that those heretics must remain among God’s people to prove those who are righteous and holy. It’s like the example of the tares growing with the wheat. One day God will test both and one will be proven and the other will drift away

  17. More understanding
But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭5-9‬ KJV)

This shows some good reasons the ladies and the men don’t have the same hair styles. It also gives some spiritual thought for reasons as to why we Seperated ourselves.

  18. And isn’t long hair a woman’s pride and joy? For it has been given to her as a covering. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭15‬ NLT)

It’s quite interesting to see that the first thing girls do when they leave the church or want to “live there life without all these rules” is cut off their hair. The hair is one thing that absolutely defines a man from a woman. It was women who rebeled who didn’t want to be told what to do that cut their hair. rebeling only leads to being uncovered, not only is it physically removing your covering but spiritually you remove yourself from the line of authority God places in ones life.
I love my hair and my anointing that comes along with it. Women should never feel ashamed for looking seperate from this world and its flawed mentality.

  19. 1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

Have you ever in grade school get in trouble for copying a friends test? Or has your mother ever told you to not spend time with someone because your beginning to act like that person.

Today I’m excited I get to cheat and use the Book to help guide me through this life, as I follow Christ. I want to spend more time with Him to beginning acting more Christ like. Thank you Jesus for the wonderful example you are ever giving.

  20. 10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

Those who are in obedience to the Lord’s commandments concerning their hair, and are in the line of submission to the authority in their lives (God, Pastor, Husband) will have the power to command angels to minister in situations that they are unable to go minister in.

It all begins and ends with obedience and submission.

  21. 14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

This is why us men should have our hair cut at a shorter length, for the bible tells us it is a shame to have long hair, and we must submit to what the bible tells us because it is the word of God and if we don’t submit to the word of God, we are rebelling against God himself

  22. 1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Every leader has this great thing called influence. In order to be a great leader we must learn to follow. In church we have the man of God, our pastor. As we follow him others follow us. We must always be sure to use our influence to lead others to Christ.

  23. 1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Never could actually say this before and mean it. Can we honestly say we represent Christ on earth? To say follow me as I follow Christ places a burden on who ever professes it. There is a certain danger of misrepresentation. Many times our misrepresentation of Him leads people away. How can we confess we know him and follow Him when we do not do His WORKS.
What we do declares who we follow!

  24. Nature teach you !!!! 14. Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? 15. But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. 16. But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God. TO GOD BE THE GLORY !!!!
