1 Corinthians 16

1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

3 And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.

4 And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me.

5 Now I will come unto you, when I shall pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia.

6 And it may be that I will abide, yea, and winter with you, that ye may bring me on my journey whithersoever I go.

7 For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.

8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

10 Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.

11 Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.

12 As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.

13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity.

15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

16 That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth.

17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.

18 For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.

19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

20 All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

21 The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand.

22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

24 My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.

  1. They purposely addicted themselves to the ministry. Addicted to the work of the saints….

15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

All types of addicts out there…. Imagine being addicted to the Gospel or addicted to true love (God)………………….

  2. 17. I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.

No one is supposed to do it all. We are the body of Christ and every part has it’s own job to do. Just imagine in baseball if the same guy had to pitch the ball and then run past the ball and catch it when the batter missed, or run to left field to scoop the ball off the ground then run to first base and tag the runner out! No, we each have our own part to play, and I pray we aren’t too busy waving at the camera when the ball comes our way.

  3. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong
God wants us to be strong I Him. To be steadfast and unmoveable and spiritually stable. HE wants us to fight against this world and its influences and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ

  4. 22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Paul had strong feelings about loving the Lord Jesus Christ, and he believed every man should love him with all his heart. He felt so strong about this love, that he went as far as to say that a man should be cursed until The Lord return.

The word Anathema means cursed, loathed, shunned, excommunicate, or ban.
    Maranatha means Our Lord Cometh.

Then the Apostle says may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be will you all, if you don’t love God you will need grace!

  5. 15, “I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints.”

Addicted means devoted. Devoted means vowed; dedicated; consecrated.

We need to be MORE Addicted to the ministry of the saints.
We need to be MORE Dedicated and Consecrated.

  6. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

No matter what happens in our lives we must protect our minds and body from iniquity and even doubt so that our faith will not be effected.

  7. 22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

This is a message to people that are told about His Salvation. That are given the opportunity over, and over again and their pride or they just simply do not desire to be part of the Lord. Anathema Maranatha – to those who do not love the Lord be accursed when He comes.
You either are of God or You are NOT of God that simple. Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

  8. 17 I am glad of the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus: for that which was lacking on your part they have supplied.
We all need to pitch in and help wherever we can, its not just a one person job. Unity makes the job go better! When one of brothers or sisters is missing or hurting we should be concerned and go look for that brother or sister.

  9. 7 For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permit.

8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

10 Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.

I thank God that I have the opportunity to be a part of the effective minisrty of POFW. effective comes with the price of Tarrying or waiting. These two words are not about doing nothing but prayer. On the day of Pentecost they waited but while they waited they prayed. The door of effective is open but we must continue to pray through the hard times for the lost to keep it open.

“Adversaries and opposition do not break the spirits of faithful and successful ministers, but warm their zeal, and inspire them with fresh courage. A faithful minister is more discouraged by the hardness of his hearers’ hearts, and the backslidings of professors, than by the enemies’ attempts.”

  10. 22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

Anathema means to be accursed, excommunicated, to have a religious ban or it can also mean a thing devoted to God without hope of being redeemed, and if an animal, to be slain; therefore a person or thing doomed to destruction

Maranatha means our Lord cometh or will come. An exclamation of the divine judgement.

The word love in this verse is phileo, to be a friend to or have affection for.

If any man is not a friend of the Lord Jesus Christ let him be bound under a great curse when the Lord cometh.

    John 15:14
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

  11. Verses 13-14 NLT ” Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous.[c] Be strong. And do everything with love.” Same verses CEV “Keep alert. Be firm in your faith. Stay brave and strong. Show love in everything you do.” Same verses AMP “Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith ([b]your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength! Let everything you do be done in love (true love to God and man as inspired by God’s love for us).” We must stand firm in the faith and continue to do everything with love – God’s love.

Verses 22-23 MSG “If anyone won’t love the Master, throw him out. Make room for the Master! Our Master Jesus has his arms wide open for you.” If someone or something is keeping from loving your Master…..throw it/them out….no time to lose, no time to waste. The time to answer your calling is now!

  12. MORE GIVING

    NLT
    The Collection for Jerusalem
1 Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia. 2 On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once.

Giving is a Kingdom principal that we observe at The Pentecostals. Two of the largest expenses of The POFW have to do with GIVING to others. Through POFW Missions we are Blessing over 30 other churches monthly as well as those in need in our own area of Fort Worth. Along with the monthly support for Missions we also participate in special offerings that assist the UPCI in Global Mission efforts where the UPCI officials are responsible for distribution of the funds as they see need in Ministries around the world.

The 2nd of the largest expenses of The POFW is our giving to Ministries that edify The POFW. Every evangelist, pastor, teacher, apostle and prophet that ministers to The POFW we give opportunity for the body to BLESS the man of GOD and his family. The church gives generously and the entire distribution of funds is forwarded to the Ministry.

I encourage you to be FAITHFUL in:
    1. Tithe – it is the LORD’s and without this act of obedience all other funds, gifts, giving is cursed.
    2. Offering – Our Temple offering or General Fund is what maintains the operations of The POFW and this is our sanctuary (place of rest where GOD speaks to us).
    3. IFT – Our Building Fund pledges are a commitment to GOD and The POFW that we are investing in the Kingdom of GOD for future generations of the region of Fort Worth. A pledge is a vow and should be approached with respect and reverence.
    4. Missions – Our giving to Missions is where we give in accordance with Pauls writing here in 1 Corinthians 16. This is where we receive EXTREME blessing, but only after the first 3 are fulfilled.

Giving through your church ministry assures that you are spiritually covered in giving and not just donating to someone. Most of us are compelled to support and take care of our own house FIRST.

    MORE GIVING.

    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  13. Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭13-14‬ MSG)

Don’t back up now. Give this walk with God MORE and MORE. Watch and Pray MORE. Have MORE faith. Be MORE Unwavering and Love MORE.

  14. More opportunity

    1 Corinthians 16:9 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
9 For a wide door of opportunity for effectual [service] has opened to me [there, a great and promising one], and [there are] many adversaries.

When God opens a door no man can shut it. We want God to open doors in our lives.

Beyond doors are revivals, ministry, outpourings, harvests, miracles, and divine encounters. Doors wait to be walked through that are the next level or power, and anointing. Doors are waiting that hold dimensions in relationship we haven’t known before.

Yet there is an adversary at the door. Every door has adversaries. When the Lord opens a door we step through by faith. We must trust that the one who opened the door is ready to lead us inside into the next room regardless of adversarial conflict.

We are believing for a miracle because of an opened door God led us through. Truly he will not let us down, and he won’t let you down when he opens a door for you.

    Isaiah 65:24 (KJV Strong’s)
    24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer;
and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

God will make a way through all the More opportunity he provides!

  15. 8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

Paul did not know how long it was going to take him, but he purposed in his heart to tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost, despite the adversaries that were opposing him.

We know that God has given us this city, and has given us dominion. Which of us are willing to tarry until some of our new believers that are bond by chains of addictions, bonds of affliction, religion and carnality are loosed and they find their Pentecost?

  16. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity.

This is where we find ourselves in this day and hour of the church -we must stand steadfast in the faith, not wavering, strong in knowledge of the apostolic doctrine, because this world needs what we have & know. We must be prepared to give what we have to others in love so that they can come out of this world and receive their salvation, being born again. We cannot wield God’s word in condemnation, rather we must in love reach for a soul patiently teaching and leading them to Him.

  17. 13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
14 And do everything with love. (NLT)

Now is the time to follow such commands; don’t let anyone or anything distract you from the will of God.

  18. iLove to eat More Word

    More Opened Doors
1 Corinthians 16:9 “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”

Many times in life we pray for a door to open and we just assume that this opened door will bring us to calm seas and peaceful bliss. In the above mentioned verse we find that opened doors bring many adversaries. Another example can be found in Acts 16.

Acts 16:7 “After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. 8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.”

As soon as Paul had this vision he set sail to Macedonia and immediately a door was opened. Acts 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose “heart the Lord opened”, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. 15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, “come into my house”, and abide there. And she constrained us.

God opened the door for Paul to preach in Macedonia. This opened door is found in the form of an open house through the heart of a lady that God had touched. This opened door also this opened brought many adversaries. In fact, as soon as Paul walked through that opened door he was beaten and thrown into prison.

    More Opened Doors=More Open Houses
    More Opened Houses=More Opened Hearts
    More Opened Hearts =More Adversaries

  19. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity

We must be strong and courageous. We must stand firm in the word of God, and build our faith each day!

  20. 12 As touching our brother Apollos, I greatly desired him to come unto you with the brethren: but his will was not at all to come at this time; but he will come when he shall have convenient time.

What a clear example of selfish submission.

When we allow our stiff-necks over ride our desire to obey Jesus or the leadership He places us under, we set our selves up for a fall…

  21. 1 Corinthians 16:13
Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Verse 14 Let all your things be done with charity.

    1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV
    Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be man of courage; be strong;
Verse 14 Do everything in love.

This are the times we need to stand firm in our faith.
we are getting close to God’s coming, we see the signs everywhere. We need to be man and woman of courage and go reach the city of Fort Worth. We might come face to face with the adversary, but we must be strong.

    Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burden again by a yoke of slavery.

God has set us free, so we must have courage and be strong in our faith. Its time for us to stand up, stop warming our chairs at church and go out there and be the bridge of Salvation for the City of Fort Worth and set the captivity of man and woman that are burden by sin be free in Christ.

We must have love for our City!

    MORE courage!!!

  22. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity

We have to keep watch of the things we allow in our hearts and minds. If they re not upheld by the word of God we must not let down our guard or our convictions. THe enemy is always trying to sneak in and make us let our guard down but we must be strong. Keeping live in our hearts always for whatever it is we are doing

  23. The motive of love.

1Cor. 16:14 Let all that you do be done in love.

Any action done outside of love is wrong. The reason we do things is more important in God’s eyes than what we are doing. If we give to the poor to be esteemed by men or for tax breaks, we have missed it.

  24. I Corinthians 16:8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

13 Watch ye stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

14 Let all your things be done with charity.

Every time there are doors opened, there will always be someone or something that opposes us, especially in the work of His Kingdom. We just have to member to show the love of God, be strong and believe that the one who opened the door in the first place was God. It was not by our might but by His and He is in control of everything we do in His Kingdom only if we are strong, love, believe and trust.

  25. 9 For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.

When God opens a door in your life, it does not come without opposition, people and circumstances in your life will try to keep you from going through that open door that God has given you. But if you stay persistent and keep pressing through, staying strong in not letting anything hold you back from what God has promised you than you will go through that open door.

  26. We must have direction for the church. Just as they did back then. This is why we are in an organization. To have order in the church. This is also why we must have a pastor in our lives so we may be in that order.

  27. “For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: therefore acknowledge ye them that are such.” Paul again showed his maturity in God (Jesus), as it was not all about self. The good Lord (Jesus) was the greatest example, as he was never about self. One should thank God for a man of God that is not about self, as one is witness too daily at POFW. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  28. Father, If you may take me way with you take me to a place were,I can repent for my sins and everything I’ve done In my life that, I was wrong but now when you came into my life, I knew everything was going to be alright because your my provider and my protector and I know I’am a soul winner and a conquer and a champion!!! In Jesus Name!!!

  29. If anyone does not love the Lord, that person is cursed. Our Lord, come! May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭22-23‬ NLT)

You can’t love someone you don’t have a relationship with. We are cursed by not having a relationship, a love with God. Take time out of your day to have a lil talk with Jesus

  30. 13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
14 Let all your things be done with charity.

Amen!!! I am standing in your promises Jesus because I believe You are a mighty, powerful, omnipotent, holy God!!!! I have my trust in you Jesus because you are EVERYTHING I need!!! The things of this world don’t even compare to what you give Jesus! Let me do everything with love because you are LOVE!!!!! If I don’t have love then I am nothing!!! Thank you Jesus for your mercy!!!!

  31. ANATHEMA MARANATHA!

All we can do is witness to lost sinners with the saving power of the gospel of Christ Jesus. Only God can save a soul. We go soulwinning to LEAD people to Jesus Christ, but we can only bring them to the Master. As the saying goes… “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink it.” We can bring people to the throne of grace, but we can’t save them. Each individual must deal directly with God in their heart. If a person wants to hear and obey the gospel, amen! If a person does not, then the Bible says let them be ANATHEMA MARANATHA! Let them be cursed for the Lord is coming.

  32. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. NLT

It is the only way to do anything for The Lord, with love, otherwise all we may do it’s just what Paul talks about in chapter 13…just a sounding metal. May his love abound in our hearts that we can be courageous, strong and stand firm in the faith.

  33. 1 Corinthians 16:13 ESV

Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.

We need to stay strong when the adversary comes our way. God is our strength; we are not on our own!

  34. I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ KJV

    Addicted to the ministry

There are many addictions in the world today, however there are very few people who might claim this addiction. Sports, food, tv, and other things that effect the body are taking over the world with great force. Spiritual things, things that are eternal value are not held in high value. We must war against self lusts and seek after God that we might have a spiritual addiction so great that we change the world around us with great force. SEEK JESUS MORE–THAT IS THE ADDICTION WE NEED. As we seek him more all other things will fall into place and then it might be said of us that we too we’re addicted to the ministry of the saints.

  35. 22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

Actually two separate and unrelated words.

Anathema means accursed – set apart for destruction.
It is from a Greek word and appears first in the Septuagint, the Greek version of the Old Testament when speaking about the spoils of Israel’s enemies – or the enemies themselves, which were to be set apart for destruction.

The word Maranatha means “the Lord is coming”.

The two words are blended together at the end of Paul’s First letter to the Corinthians in the King James Version, but in fact should be understood separately.

Compare the NASB Version of the verse:

“If anyone does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed (anathema). Maranatha. ”
    I Corinthians 16:22

  36. Christ Jesus !!!! 22. If any man love not the Lord Je’-sus Christ, let him be A-nath’-e-ma Mar-an-a’-tha. 23.The grace of our Lord Je’-sus Christ be with you. 24. my love be with you all in Christ Je’-sus. A’-men. I love you Jesus !!!!
