2 Corinthians 13

1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

13 All the saints salute you.

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

  1. We pray to God that you will not do what is wrong by refusing our correction. I hope we won’t need to demonstrate our authority when we arrive. Do the right thing before we come—even if that makes it look like we have failed to demonstrate our authority. (‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭7‬ NLT)

  2. 5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

    1 Corinthians 11:28,31 KJV
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

It’s always better to judge ourselves first and correct our own mistakes than to live unchecked and wait for God to get our attention and point out our mistakes.

  3. Verse 11 MSG “And that’s about it, friends. Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure.” Same verse AMP “Finally, brethren, farewell (rejoice)! Be strengthened (perfected, completed, made what you ought to be); be encouraged and consoled and comforted; be of the same [agreeable] mind one with another; live in peace, and [then] the God of love [Who is the Source of affection, goodwill, love, and benevolence toward men] and the Author and Promoter of peace will be with you.”

This chapter spoke to me about being in unity and keeping the faith. If we want to be able to encourage each other, we must first remember to make sure that we are ourselves are doing regular checkups, examines, or tests evaluating our own selves to see whether you are holding to our faith and showing the proper fruits of it as the AMP version says. These scriptures in the MSG version also tell us to test ourselves to make sure we are solid in the faith and not to drift along taking everything for granted.

  4. 10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

Pastoral correction is not to destroy us; rather to edify us. Fatherly correction is not to destroy us; rather to edify us as well. Both of these positions in life require the same leadership skill of instruction and correction when needed. As with everything in life there are people in position of leadership which take advantage of that position. Some use the position to further their personal agenda. Some to rule over people and feel important and some are just cruel. I know that our Pastor is a good and Godly man who leads us with love.

Sometimes when we are in the middle of instruction or rebuke we cannot see help designed within it. We can only feel the regret and sorrow. However, our Pastor does not instruct and when needed correct us out of malice. It is out of love and a desire to see us saved and living a more enriched life for Jesus.

  5. iLove to eat MORE Word

2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith. 6As you test yourselves, I hope you will recognize that we have not failed the test of apostolic authority.”

How do we know if Christ is in us? The context of this verse is the fact the Paul is correcting the Corinthians because some are caught in sin. Paul is saying that they must receive correction. 7We pray to God that you will not do what is wrong by refusing our correction. I hope we won’t need to demonstrate our authority when we arrive. Do the right thing before we come…

Basically, our faith is genuine if we can receive correction and learn to go in the right direction.

  6. More Testing

2 Corinthians 13:5 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation)
5 Be putting yourselves to the test whether you are in the Faith. Be putting yourselves to the test for the purpose of approving yourselves, and finding that you meet the specifications, put your approval upon yourselves. Or, do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you are those who are disapproved?

    2 Corinthians 13:5 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
5 Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?

    2 Corinthians 13:5 (The Message)
5 Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.

There are two ways to be tested. Either from outside forces, or by testing yourself. We must be honest with ourselves if we plan to go to heaven. Integrity is a necessity to enter eternity.

Examine – (Olive Tree Enhanced Strong’s Dictionary) g3985. πειράζω peirazō; from 3984; to test (objectively), i.e. endeavor, scrutinize, entice, discipline: — assay, examine, go about, prove, tempt(-er), try.

It’s better for us to examine ourselves, and inspect what we expect in transparency than for God to have to bring it to our attention.

We need to ask the hard questions.
    What is my attitude today?
    What is my motive?
Am I or is God getting the glory for this?
Am i justifying actions contrary to the word of God?
Am I trying to establish His kingdom or my kingdom?

(Amplified Bible – AMP) Phillipians 2:12 work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust,with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).

If we judge ourselves by his word here we make his job much easier there.

  7. Check yourselves!!!

We ALL should take a closer look in the mirror and examine ourselves for HIS approval. Every day we should keep pushing ourselves to take a step closer to the purpose God has in our lives. As the day goes by we should keep track of how we have shared HIS TRUTH with other. For we are to be sowers of His Harvest. Matt 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
GOT GATHER DO NOT SCATTER!!!!!! FOR THE DAY OF THE TRUTH APPROACHES, DO NOT BE LATE, DO NOT BE LAZY, CAN YOU HEAR THEIR VOICE OF DESPERATION. GO REACH OUT AND TELL THEM, CHECK YOURSELVES FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. NLT 9 we are glad to seem weak if it helps show you are actually strong. We pray you become mature.

When trials, persecutions, contempt come our way we may be weak during these times. But we wait patiently for God to carry us through; like going thru the Red Sea. When we get to the other side we are stronger in spirit, truth and holiness.

  9. MORE Holy Kisses

12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

The New Testament’s reference to a holy kiss (en philemati hagio) and kiss of love (en philemati agapēs) transformed the character of the act beyond a greeting. – Encyclopedia Online

God wants us to encounter each other in pure and holy love, but the world we live in today has taken what God intended to be pure and holy and has made it filthy, and sinful. Although I believe most people are just longing for a touch of love from God, but also a touch of love from us.

We are right to be cautious. In touching, just as in talking and looking, much can go wrong. The New Testament “holy kiss” actually stands against many of the touch-corruptions in our day. What is a holy kiss? It’s a culturally appropriate, morally chaste, physical expression of love for other believers.

It’s a hand on a shoulder, a warm smile with a hand-clasp, or a friendly hug—a touch that publicly acknowledges our bond with other members of Christ’s body. It’s not just a kiss, it’s a holy kiss, a kiss reclaimed from a fallen world and repurposed for the glory of God.

The holy kiss is not subject to personal choice and individual preference. Touch in the church is not offered to someone we especially like as a sign that he or she has been singled out for intimate attention. The holy kiss is not exclusive. In contrast to the man in James 2:2-4 who tells the rich man to sit here and the poor man to stand over there, we must not show partiality in physical nearness to our brothers. We don’t touch only the people of our choosing; we touch the people of God’s covenant choosing. We give a holy kiss to all the brothers.

And the holy kiss does not accomplish goals of our personal choosing. It is not to the end of asserting power or manipulating someone into sealing a business deal. It is not for our own physical pleasure. (Treat “older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity,” Paul writes in 1 Timothy 5:2.) Instead, the holy kiss is “visible, physical confirmation of mutual love.”

    http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/bring-back-the-holy-kiss

The holy kiss brings unity. Would you talk, blame or hurt someone you love?

    Romans 16:16 (KJV)
Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you

    1 Corinthians 16:20
All the brethren greet you. Greet ye one another with an holy kiss.

    1 Thessalonians 5:26 (KJV)
Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.

There is also the kiss of betrayal. You can define the difference from the “holy kiss” to just “kiss”. You remove Jesus from the equation and it can only lead to sin and sorrow.

    Matthew 26:49
And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.

    2 Samuel 20:9
And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.

  10. 5 Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.

8 For we cannot oppose the truth, but must always stand for the truth. (NLT)

We should always be examining ourselves, and allow God to search us and pray for Him to reveal anything that is not of him within ourselves. If we are not careful sin in some form or fashion will surely sneak right in and you may not even notice it. Knowing this we need to do as the scriptures state, examine your faith because if our full faith and trust is not in Him then who are we putting it in? It is our duty as His servants to shine His truth for this lost world to see, to be examples. So examine yourselves, know that your faith is strong in God and stand for His truth.

  11. MORE PROOF

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

For years I have witnessed people use what I call the “christian card”, these people attempt to use the confession of their afffiliation with a church to gain credibility in a relationship or business deal.

Some GOOD advice from a pastor “RUN FROM THESE TYPE PEOPLE”. I do not trust them. The FRUIT of the Spirit of JESUS should be the FIRST trait people notice about us and if we have to tell them that we are a “christian” or especially a “minister”. JESUS said 2 times in Matthew 7 how believers and ministers should be identified. Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

The Apostles command to the church is to Examine ourselves, if my commitment of time, talent and treasure do not confirm who or what I serve (JESUS or self) then prayerfully it should convict me of who or what I serve (SELF or jesus).

The question, Paul commanded us to examine; search, investigate, test, evaluate ourselves to if we are IN the FAITH. IN is MORE than about. Back to the “christian card” if you have to tell people you are a christian or a minister then you are most likely failing the examination. Your FRUIT should identify you immediately in the FAITH.

Paul calling for the Church to exhibit MORE PROOF of our relationship; commitment to, walk with, love for JESUS and HIS Kingdom.

As part of my personal examination, I ask myself “are you the spiritual leader and example that you would desire to follow”? Occasionally I have failed this brutal examination, but it has inspired me to correct the wrong, reconnect to the source, revive my commitments and love MORE deeply. We live in a confused world that is seeking MORE PROOF of TRUTH. May GOD help us to examine ourselves daily to see whether we be in the FAITH. If you failed the exam yesterday, then recover by passing the exam today.

  12. (The Living Bible) 2 Cor. 13:5
“Check up on yourselves. Are you really Christians? Do you pass the test? Do you feel Christ’s presence and power MORE and MORE within you? Or are you just pretending to be a Christian when actually you aren’t at all?”

Psalms 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

We need to examine ourselves daily. The best way to do this is by asking God to search us and know our hearts, try us and know our thoughts, and see if there be in wicked way in us. If there is, we then must ask God to “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10. So that, we can have MORE of His Presence and MORE of His Power in our lives.

    MORE of His Presence!!
    MORE of His Power!!

  13. 5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Our relationship with the Lord is “our relationship.” We cannot go to heaven on the tale coat of anyone. It will be on our belief and faith in God. We must know for ourselves what we believe and why.

The bible speaks of a great falling away in the endtime and we are living in that day and hour now. People that once believed the entire message of the bible now are letting things go, giving up standards of holiness and godly living to walk after the flesh. We must know the hows and whys of what we do so that we don’t let something go that is a landmark to others watching us, and not only lose out ourselves, but cause others to be lost as well.

  14. 4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Where are you standing? Is it on the edge of spirituality and cardinality? Or is it at the feet of the throne of God? Without the holy spirit there is no good in us, or in me at least this I know. Without him I am weak, vulnerable, wretched, there is no good in me. It’s ok to be weak if we are weak in him. If we are weak and we are standing on the edge of spirituality then the easiest option is to fall into carnality. But if we are standing at the feet of Jesus in his holy presence than in our weakness we are made strong. Not by our own works but by the almighty, all powerful, always strong God that lives in us.

  15. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

The will of God is for everyone to stay away from sin. Paul is warning us that God will use his authority to correct us. Stay strong and follow the truth don’t fight it.

Stay away from all evil and do right says Paul because God punishes those who do evil.

  16. 1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

I wonder how many times we have to be told that sin is sin. Are we reluctant to listen to and obey the word? Do we question whether God is speaking through our Pastor giving us instruction as well as correction? Come on, even the world knows right from wrong when you get right down to it. Examine yourself. We cannot afford to fool ourselves and miss heaven as our home! Whatever you have to do to me, don’t let me lost in eternity-I pray Pastor keeps on naming sin, exposing the enemy and his tactics and provoking us to good works!

  17. 5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Only 2 know how filthy and sinful each person is: that person and Jesus. When we really take the time to examine ourselves, we can use the only template which is perfect, the Word.

As we really look at ourselves, we are able to see just how much we are lacking, how much He has done, and we must , if we have any faith, strive to improve…

  18. 2 Corinthians 13:5 examine yourselvesto see whether you are in the faith test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you unless of course you fail the test? And trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test. Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong not so that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we nay seem to have failed.for we cannot do anything against the truth.we are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong and our prayer is that you maybe fully restored.

  19. 5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
14 The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.

Everyday we/I need to examine ourself/myself! We need to see the wrongs we may do. But God friendship of the Holy Ghost shows us the rights! 🙂

  20. Peace and exhortation.

2Cor. 13:11 ¶ Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.

In the closing of his letter, Paul leaves them with instructions for growth. We need to apply these practices in the church. Let us lay aside all slander and gossip and lift one another up in the faith.

  21. 5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

We need to examine ourselves, are we living the life God intended us to live, are we being a light to others? Lord help me to live the life you want me to live, and to examine myself. Lord clean me of anything that displeases you!

  22. 4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates
In these verses Paul explains that in our weakness we are strong through God. He also stresses the need to examine our hearts and lives and make sure that were in the faith and that God is demonstrated through us. Our faith and hope in life should not be in our ability but in the power of God working through us.

  23. 11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

    All saints to saints!!!

I thankyou Lord for this chapter in the Word. To me this can mean that when we are all together and a saint is talking about the Lord be agreeable with him or her, esp if theyare speaking the truth of Jesus to unbelievers. I thankyou Jesus that we can come to an agreement instead of begile and strife. The Lord loves unity. So if we agree on the truth which Jesus is the truth, then we all agree and are happy and peaceful.

Love Jesus and ilove His Word.

  24. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.

The test of genuine faith. How do we know when God is among us? Let the fruit and our work be the proof of it. The faith without works is dead. We shall continue trust and move forward in the Lord. Faithfulness, commitment, response are other ways to test our faith.

  25. 11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

This is a great scripture to remember. We must be in one mind.

  26. 11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Unity is something that we should always strive for. Walking with the same goals will draw us closer together as we draw closer to God.

  27. v8 ” We can do nothing against truth”

Truth will always win …. Because its unchanging.
JESUS said that HIS words would never pass away because HIS WORDS ARE TRUE.

    MORE TRUTH
    MORE HONESTY

  28. 4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Amen when we are weak! God is our strength when we think that we can’t make it anymore just humble yourself unto The Lord and He will lift us up! He has given us dominion and power when we receive the Holy Ghost to overcome all things! God is never gonna let us go through something that we can’t bare! When you feel like there is no way out, just put all your faith and trust in Jesus and He will make a way because He is a faithful and merciful God!

  29. 5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
Great reminder that I need to be evaluating myself against the word of God making sure that everything lines up. If it doesn’t, I need to give it the boot!

  30. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” Paul (the man of God) was essentially telling them to evaluate/look at themselves. One must examine self, if one becomes upset by the word of God (Jesus) or the man of God, than one needs more of God. Dear God, help me to examine self; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  31. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. -John 17:17

His word is the the truth by which we live. When we live it there is nothing that can stand before us.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. -John 1:17

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. -John 1:14

    God is fighting for us!

    My redeemer lives!

  32. More Discipleship II

    2 Corinthians 13:8-9 NLT
8 For we cannot oppose the truth, but must always stand for the truth.

9 We are glad to seem weak if it helps show that you are actually strong. We pray that you will become mature.

When we come to help new believers, there is a call to investment in them. We must make their needs a priority, as a parent sacrificing for their child’s good. As we give them the things they need to grow to spiritual maturity, we find the sort of rewards spoken of later:

    3 John 1:3-4
3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

  33. 4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

  34. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. How that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobate?

When we examine ourselves and look deep in to our life, we can see our strengths, weaknesses, failures and accomplishments. Everyday we must do a checklist to see if we are living according to His Word because we are human and there is going to be things that annoy us and there is people that are going to frustrate us and the enemy is trying to destroy us. Isaiah 54:17 ” No weapon that is formed against the shall prosper”. When God’s Spirit dwells in us, it proves us whether we are right or wrong in every situation in our life and it will lead us to do the Godly thing.

  35. Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. (‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬ KJV)

    Unity & Harmony

  36. 5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

12 Greet one another with an holy kiss.

13 All the saints salute you.

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

We should search ourselves daily and seek God daily so that way God can continue to work on us. But what’s another important thing is we learn to grow up and mature stronger in God and we also keep good mends with our brothers and sister in Christ and not have odds against one another or treat them any differently. We are the body of Christ so we should be in unity.

    MORE Unity

  38. I will give you all the proof you want that Christ speaks through me. Christ is not weak when he deals with you; he is powerful among you. Although he was crucified in weakness, he now lives by the power of God. We, too, are weak, just as Christ was, but when we deal with you we will be alive with him and will have God’s power. Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith. (‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭3-5‬ NLT)

Accountability is an important factor for any person who desires not only a deeper relationship with God but to go to heaven.Your pastor has been placed in your life as a source of accountability to steer you in the direction of truth that leads to heaven. Take the knowledge and wisdom given to you by your authority as a reminder to do what is just and righteous in the eyes of God.

  39. 4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
