Galatians 3

1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

  1. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
I don’t remember ever have respond this verse before. The first verse that comes to mind is Acts 2:38, were we are commanded to repent and be baptized in Jesus name. Then we add this to the mix, that is we they are cursed for continuing not in all the things written in this book, wow incredible.

  2. MSG – 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

Too many people start the race, but don’t finish. They receive the Spirit of God, but when it comes to the commands of following Him and His way, they choose their own way, and choose not to live according to His commandments.

Flesh cannot understand the things of the Spirit. We must walk in the Spirit daily to live according to God’s will. We cannot allow our flesh to have dominion or reign in us. The flesh is carnal and enmity against God.

  3. Galatians 3:27-28 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
27 For as many [of you] as were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union and communion with Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah] have put on (clothed yourselves with) Christ.
28 There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not maleand female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We are made partakers of the promise of Abraham by our new born experience. We can stand assuredly on the promises of God that his blessings are upon us and we are his seed.

By faith we stand on the promises of God. We are humbled by the fact he gives us such great promises when we were undeserving serving sin.

This is why we must begin and end this race in the spirit and not the flesh. We have been delivered from that old lifestyle and now we have this eternal treasure in temporal bodies.

  4. MORE COVENANT VALUE

15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

I am thankful for the value and integrity placed on a covenant. Without a COVENANT what hope have we of heaven or eternity with JESUS. The result of HIS covenant with man through his death on the cross we have eternal HOPE.

Likewise as the apostle states here in verse 15 there is a sacredness of a covenant, even though it be by man if we agree to that covenant we approach its responsibilities and duties with great respect and reverence.

This reverence and respect places MORE COVENANT VALUE on our commitments to GOD and each other.

  5. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus..

Love this verse, in a world like today where you get killed for the color of your skin or the colors of your bandana ; you must be careful where you walk and who you walk with!!!!

  6. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

We are all children of the King. Saved by grace. By the love of our master. We are grafted together to make the family tree. Thank Gid for the blood that washed my sins away. And for him resurrecting from the dead to give me life.

  7. In with the new…OUT with the old!!

Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you. (‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭24-29‬ NLT)
Why would I want the old? Once I was filled with the Holy Ghost, I knew that I had found life in Christ! Nothing in this world will ever satisfy or truly bring to you LIFE as the Holy Ghost does.

KEEP PLAYING WITH FIRE(sin) and you will get burned as you lead yourself to the pathway of hell! As it has been preached “hell was never intended for you.” Otherwise the death of Jesus Christ was in vain, and that is exactly what satan wants you to believe!

  8. 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

This is a walk by faith in the Spirit, we should allow the Spirit to lead us into life. We started this walk in the Spirit and should allow the Spirit to guide us through whatever life brings to us. We should finish in the Spirit or all of this would have been in vain.

  9. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

A lot of people say that Christ died for our sins that he threw out the laws of the Old testament, but that is not the case and the bible states that many times throughout the New testament including in this scripture. The law of God stands true no matter what time period it is, what was the law of God back then is still the Law of God today.

Throughout the bible it does not mention an old or new testament, it refers to both as “the scriptures” and that’s because we need to read and listen to both, one is not more important than the other. Every book of the bible is just as important as the other in are walk with God, every book just serves a different purpose to us in our lives. Once we understand this, the easier it is for us to understand and soak in the teaching the bible gives us.

  10. iLove to eat MORE Word

Galatians 3:2 (NLT) Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. 3 How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

We received the Holy Ghost as a gift from God and in no wise could we ever become more perfect by our own human effort. The Pharisee Believers were attempting to bring the Gentile Believers under the bondage of the law, but Paul was having none of it. He makes a case by reminding us that we did not receive the Spirit by works and we cannot gain more favor by mere works. It is by faith that we are saved. True faith does generate works of righteousness, but it is not works of the Jewish laws and rituals…it is works of charity accomplished through love.

  11. vs-5
I ask you again does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you as a result of you trying to obey the jewish law? No of coarse not. It is when you belive in Christ and fully trust him.

  12. 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

“Those only are just or righteous who are freed from death and wrath, and restored into a state of life in the favour of God; and it is only through faith that persons become righteous” http://www.biblestudytools.com/commentaries/matthew-henry-concise/galatians/3.html
I am so thankful that God gave us a way to be freed from death! Because of His great mercy we are saved!!! Praise the God Most High!!!!

  13. How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?

But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.

(‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭3-4, 22, 27-29‬ NLT)

Having God in our life is not a waste it is a blessing and the truth of living. Don’t let your walk be in vain, let it be a loving relationship with God. He’s done so much for us and given us the bible for guidance to help us get to heaven. If He didn’t love us He wouldn’t do these things for us.

Think about your walk with God and all He’s done for you and see all the marvelous things. Examine yourself and get right with God, He’s not here to destroy us….the devil wants to destroy us. And I won’t give place to the devil at all! He is beneath my feet and he will stay there always, I will not follow him!!

    Give place ONLY to God!!!!!!

  14. 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Thank you Jesus for your miracles and strength but given by faith I will worship and praise you!

  15. The Law !!!! 19. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Exod. 20 : 19 Deut. 5 : 5 20. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. 21. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid : for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. Gal. 2 : 21 22. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Je’-sus Christ might be given to them that believe. I’M LIVING BY FAITH !!!! You are my Provider and Defender !!!! I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!

  16. Galatians 3:23 Before the coming of this faith we were held in custody under the law locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Chirst came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come we are no longer under a guardian. So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.there is neither Jew nor Gentile neither slave nor free nor is there male and female for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.

  17. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

The law can be learned and followed but faith has to be lived out. You cannot teach someone faith,
They have to learn it on there own

  18. “26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Paul was reminding and explaining the promise of God (Jesus). Dear God, help me to examine self; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  19. Do not be deceived.

Gal. 3:1 ¶ O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.

The Galatians where being deceived by focusing on works more than Christ. Works without Christ = lost. Works + Jesus equals real salvation. Jesus without works equals false salvation.

We must remember we are saved by grace through faith. Our righteous living compliments this grace and is essential, but it doesn’t save us.

  20. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Without faith it is impossible to please God. We come to him – a God we cannot see – and receive of him -his Holy Spirit – which we cannot see. That takes faith. Now that we began our journey with the Lord using our faith, how is it that we revert back to works of the law? We must walk daily by faith, believing and receiving the promises of God which we have by our faith.

  21. 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

I had the privilege to get to speak with a quite extraordinary elder the other day, and as we began to speak of religion, he kept running back to “free Grace”. I could hardly get a word out of my mouth, when he would mention “grace is free, all you have to do is believe.” Finally I managed to stop him dead in his tracks and make him think, when I said, “The bible says that it is impossible to please God without faith, and it also says faith without works is dead. So, if we are going to exercise our faith and please God, we HAVE to strive to all we can to do what the bible tells us, because even the devils believe and tremble in fear, according to the bible, right?”

Although we are to walk by faith, we are still to strive to obey the law:
“Obey them that have the rule over you…”
    “…should we continue in sin… God Forbid!…”
“… not all things are expedient…”

Unfortunately we all to often exercise more faith in our cars than we do our Savior.

  22. Put On

27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Being born again, we walk in newness of life by walking in Christ. We put Him on after the abandonment of old ways and after claiming the of His promises that He makes available to us. And just as baptism is not something that just happens to us but is a cognitive choice, so it is a choice to put on Christ and part of the renewing of our minds to walk according to knowledge and wisdom and not simply blindly. To walk by faith and not sight means to walk not always knowing where the will of God will take us, it does not mean we walk without knowledge of God and His ways. To put on Christ is the combination of receiving His gift of adoption and new nature as well as our willingness to chose His ways.

    Ephesians 4:1 NLT
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

  23. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. (‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭11-12‬ KJV)
    More faith
When we show faith we are showing God that we live apart from this world. Faith Seperated us from the world. We trust in things unseen. Our faith is displayed by our living by the law. When we live by God’s law we are able to demonstrate to others the power of God through our faith and separation.

  24. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

We are all one in Christ. There are no differences in color, or races… When we come to Christ we put on his identity and now become his. This same way we should see every one as a soul that God loves and ministers to. I’m glad of how God has been bringing people to our church ftil many different back grounds that we may minister to them

  25. Verses 25-29 CEV “But once a person has learned to have faith, there is no more need to have the Law as a teacher. All of you are God’s children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. And when you were baptized, it was as though you had put on Christ in the same way you put on new clothes. Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you equal with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman. So if you belong to Christ, you are now part of Abraham’s family,[f] and you will be given what God has promised.” These are MY promises……. I am standing on the promises of God.

  26. 5-6 Answer this question: Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you? Don’t these things happen among you just as they happened with Abraham? He believed God, and that act of belief was turned into a life that was right with God. (MSG)

We’ve have truly come this far by faith!

  27. v20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

The LORD our GOD is one. HE is the ONE TRUE GOD and still desires loves our faithfulness with our relationship with HIM.

    MORE FAITHFULNESS
    MORE RELATIONSHIP
