Ephesians 2

1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

  1. Saved by grace through faith.

    Eph. 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

    This is the same church that formed in acts 19.

    Acts 19:5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

    Thy got rebaptized and filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. Those who argue that saying you believe, reciting the sinners prayer, and accepting Jesus in your heart as personal savior is enough to be saved, while rejecting the message of the apostles in Acts 2:38 and Romans 12, are liars and thieves.

    There is no other way to put it. If you are presented with the opportunity to be washed in baptism through Christ and filled with his Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and it doesn’t happen, something is wrong in the heart. This doctrine is found in repetition in the record of the church and is still applicable today. This is all by the grace of God shown in the cross and by our faith in obedience to the preached word.

  2. 4. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
    5. that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) NLT

    “I’m in this church, the glorious church.
    I didn’t join, No, I was born; I had a new birth,
    Some glorious day, gonna sail away.
    It’s by His grace, not by my works
    I’m in this church”

  3. Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭1-3‬ NLT)

    ………… but God!!!!

    **praise Break**

  4. 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

    I couldn’t be more thankful that I found Jesus! It is only by His grace that I am where I am today.

  5. Maximum Frequency

    Ephesians 2:1-3 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
    1 AND YOU [He made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins
    2 In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God].
    3 Among these we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind.

    A radio frequency is a pattern of alternating electromagnetic waves that can be picked up by a receiver and broadcasted. We would call them stations. When we tune in to the right station we pick up a clear sound of music, or talk.

    A clear signal free of interruptions, or static can give the illusion that we are right there where the sound is originating from. The user determines what station to listen to by changing the reception of the receiver. Simply put we tune into what is already being broadcasted.

    Romans 6:19 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation)
    19 I am using an illustration drawn from human affairs because of the frailties of your humanity. For just as you placed your members as slaves at the disposal of uncleanness and lawlessness resulting in lawlessness, thus now place your members as slaves at the disposal of righteousness resulting in holiness.

    We choose the station we listen to. Our actions determine what frequencies we will tune in to. If we obey God’s word we tune into his station and yield our members (body parts, mind, heart) unto righteousness. Disobedience tunes us into unrighteousness, and the demonic realm.

    Whatever we tune into is what we will broadcast. Lies, deception, fraud, jealousy, envy, unforgiveness, and sin are all programs we will broadcast when we choose to live contrary. Worse, the station brings the spirit of that station.

    Tune into God through obedience and you will receive his spirit while broadcasting his message to the world.

    We can’t expect to broadcast Christ if we are tuned in to the world.

  6. 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

    Preach peace.

    Peace is often characterized by a tranquil state of being for a person or even a nation. But the messiahs peace is salvation. Salvation needs to be preached to everyone, even those afar off. People cannot experience peace if they are not preached it.

    Romans 10:14
    How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

  7. 1 It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin.

    2 You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience.

    3 We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us.

    4 Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love,

    5 he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us!

    6 Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

    7 Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. MSG

    I think SIMPLE OBEDIENCE will explain the chapter. Reminds me of song we use to sing:
    Saved by grace
    I’ve been saved by grace
    It ain’t what i deserve but i’m saved by grace!!!
    By the grace of God we are here, had it not been for Jesus loving us and taking his life for our sins we wouldn’t be here.

  8. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
    11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

    Matt 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

    I don’t believe in giving and then sit around boasting of how much has you have been giving nor do I beleive you can reclaim a present. Let me explain as a child I always had to wear the hand me downs from my sisters. It was hard what made it worse it was then that at school my sister will tell everyone that said I looked cute, “well, because of me that was my dress”….. hated that. We are NOT saved by our works…. We are saved by Faith. Roman 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

    Don’t get me wrong and go do nothing cause we are saved by His Grace alone. For the word is very clear about what God says in James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

  9. But GOD…..

    But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭4-8‬ KJV)

    Salvation has come to every person The Lord has created!!!! As for me I choose to embrace His grace that he has for me!!!!
    Thank you JESUS!

  10. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

    Thank you Jesus for being the peace in my life! There were so many times I lost faith in myself and couldn’t seem to make it through the hard times in my lifetime, but you were what kept me together, it’s worth celebrating your name every day I wake up with another breath

  11. 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

    14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

    We can now approach God, by the blood of Jesus Christ, to repent and make things right. Our sins have been in the way to keep us from coming to God.
    Now we have reconciliation through Jesus Christ to bring peace to our lives.
    Peace was never a part of lives without God, but now the middle wall of partition has been broken down that we can see God work in our lives.
    Thank god for the blood!!!

  12. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God

    Amen ONLY by the grace of God and because of God we have been saved. There is nothing else that can save us! Grace abounds so many places and areas that we don’t realize till we meditate and look at all the great things that God has done in our lives! Just him letting us wake up another day is another opportunity that we have to reach for the lost! Thank you Jesus so much for your mercy 🙂

  13. 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
    21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
    22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

    The building of the church body.

    The corner stone. Is the first brick in a wall. It is what ever other measurement is taken from. Jesus is the churches corner stone. Who better to build on than the creator of everything.

  14. 19-22 That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home. (MSG)

    We belong here! God has brought us here for a purpose! If we are willing and obedient, we will be used for mighty and great things! What a great God we serve!

  15. MORE HEAVENLY PLACES

    That moment of unmatchable joy, the experience of tranquil peace, that tear of thanksgiving, our minds if allowed are flooded with the favor and blessings that GOD has permitted to us as believers.

    We as believers are recipients of the GRACE (Favor) of GOD and the opportunity to experience the LOVE of JESUS and the victorious emotions that result from accepting the LOVE of GOD through HIS Grace and through our obedience to GOD and HIS Word. As we acknowledge the GRACE of GOD in our lives and the priviledge we have to enjoy the LOVE, JOY, PEACE and POWER of GOD in our lives.

    Moments in life as we were so BLESSED to experience this past Sunday Evening, to literally feel like we were sitting in heavenly places in Christ JESUS. I am hungry for another opportunity to experience the LORD raising us up away from the sinful world we live in to sit (take rest) together in Christ JESUS in heavenly places.

    JESUS Your Presence is Heaven to me.

  16. 4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
    5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) (NLT)

    Hallelujah, Thank You Jesus! “I am saved by grace. Love about me, mercy found me. I am saved by grace. I have life and it’s only by Your grace.”

  17. 4, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,”
    5, “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
    13, “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”

    Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
    1 John 4:9-10, “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loves us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

    Thank You GOD that you are Rich in Mercy towards us and for your Great Love wherewith You have loved us!
    So Thankful for God’s Mercy and Love!!

  18. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

    Lest we forget, being brought out of our sins, our past, the world, is a gift of God to us. We must never taken it for granted, or exploit that gift of life we have been given in any measure.

    6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

    He has raised us up to be able to enter into His presence and sit in Heavenly places with Him because of His love for humanity and the desire for a relationship with the people that He created.

  19. 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

    This goes together with being chosen in him from the foundation of the world. Through his grace-undeserved favor-he chose to look past our sins and offer us salvation- through his work of the cross. We apply his blood to cover those sins in baptism, and now he sees imperfect man through his perfect blood.
    We are now heirs, sons and daughters, made to sit in heavenly places through Christ Jesus. “There’s no place I’d rather be, than here in his love!”

  20. The building that can never be finished

    21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

    The word is groweth. The continual building up of the temple of God. In Jude it talks about building up your most holy faith praying in the Holy Ghost. Our work building the temple can never be finished. The temple is built through praise and worship. HE dwells in the praises of his people. When we cease to build the temple, he ceases to reside there. Relationships as we all know are work. We have to have a continual pressing forward to be in the will of God. His temple has to be built continually.

  21. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

    6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

    Thank you God for your everlasting mercy and for your saving grace!!

  22. Ephesians 2:11 Therefore remember that formerly you who are gentiles by birth and called uncircumcised by those who call themselves the circumcision which is done in the body by human hands. remember that at that time yo were separate from Christ excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

  23. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

    I’ve heard this before, someone says by my good works I am saved. They believe as long as they good things for their church, that they are saved. They see it as adding and building up their scale, as if God is looking to see how many good deeds you do. They don t want to accept that repenting, baptism, and receiving the holy ghost is also required.

  24. iLove to eat MORE Word

    We Can Only Have One Master
    Ephesians 2:2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.

    This scripture is a little disturbing if you really think about it. In context when we read it, it is saying the whole world is obeying the devil and that the enemy is at work in the hearts of all who refuse to obey God.

    Almost every day we hear of another Isis attack, car bombing, act of terrorism, or shooting spree. This should not surprize us, there are folks out there right now that are just waiting for their commander’s orders to go forth.

    As Christians, we have been delivered from the commander of this world. We are no longer under his authority, but we have pledged allegiance to a new King. We are children of the Light and should never fear the darkness, however, the Word tells us that we cannot serve two masters. If we are serving in the Church of the Living God and we are following the instruction of the enemy commander, then that certainly makes one a spy.

    God has given us a great leader to follow and has given him the vision for The Pentecostals of Fort Worth. Let us follow our pastor and prove that we are on the Lord’s side with our subjection and obedience. We can only serve one Master, let us serve the Lord.

  25. What else needs to be said…………………………….

    “WE HAVE A PLACE”………………………………………………………………………………

  26. 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

    4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

    Before we had God in our life, we lived according to our will. We lived to what this world teaches us, which is to fulfill our life according to our flesh and it’s desires. To have a go with the flow mentality and to be slaves to the ruler of this world. But thanks for His grace and love, and sacrifice that our destiny has been changed and we are now the heirs to his kingdom.We now can live freely and in peace, hungry to know more about Him and to do His will.
    THANK YOU JESUS! 🙂

  27. v21 In whom all the building fitly framed together growth unto an holy temple in them Lord .

    GOD in HIS wisdom has established and set in order various roles of ministry in the church.
    Let us countine to serve HIM humbly and trust HIM, and give HIM all the glory for all things.

  28. More Love IV

    13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

    14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us

    We are quick to recognize that sin separates us from God but it also separates us from each other. Just as the sinful flesh became a veil of separation between us and God due to the death we were born into, it will veil us from one another as we walk as children of wrath and not into godly love towards one another. But He is the peacespeaker, and He brings together what man could not fix. He is the answer to greater love in every relationship, whether with Him directly or with others.

    Romans 13:10
    Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

    Matthew 5:17
    Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

    Galatians 5:14
    For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

  29. That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭19-22‬ MSG)

    More building

    We are being used to build the kingdom. When we work in our positions at the church it increases Gid and gathers the people he wants to work in the kingdom. More wok means more building. — Letsput on our work clothes and get something done!

  30. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

    5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.

    Christ Jesus loves us with all of his heart and soul. We should do the same. Thank you Lord for undeservd grace .

  31. Ephesians 2:4-5
    But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
    verse 5,
    Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

    In this Chapter I see how Paul is letting us reflect on our past failures and God’s redemption in our lives
    and how God’s Mercy for us is amazing, even do we don’t deserve it, He loves us so much, that even do we were in the worst darkness, He saved us.
    That why is important for us to…
    RENEW OUR PERSPECTIVE- we must think like God thinks. We must see ourselves as He does and fix our minds on him.
    RELEASE OUR PAST-We MUST let go of old habits, we must die to the past.
    and ALWAYS remember our PURPOSE- We drift when we lose sight of God, our goal is to participate or be part of God’s plan for the world.
    if WE EMBRACE PURPOSE, WE GAIN POWER!

  32. 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

    21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

    22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

    God needs to be the foundation of our lives. Without Him we will not be able to stand.

  33. “8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Paul (the man of God, chosen by God) stated it well, one should be forever grateful and humble, as God (Creator) saved one by his grace.

    “20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” Pastor (the man of God, chosen by God) is guiding us today as Paul did then, however one (I) must be a willing and humble enough to heed and obey. Dear God, help me to examine self; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  34. The end of verses 19-22 MSG says “…..Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.” This reminds me of a song we sing with the kids in nursery “Building up the Temple”:

    Building up the Temple
    Building up the Temple
    We’re building up the Temple for the Lord

    Brother come and help me
    Sister come and help me
    We’re building up the Temple for the Lord

    We are in this together POFW.

  35. By grace !!!! 1. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Ps. 51 : 5; Titus 3 : 3 4. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Rom. 10 : 12 5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) I AM VICTORIOUS !!!! THANK YOU FOR GRACE !!!!
