Philippians 4

1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.

22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar’s household.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

  1. 2 I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord.

After Paul says this he addresses the Phillipians as his loyal “yokefellow” this reminds me of “Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?” (Amos 3:3) and” Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” 2 Cor 6:14). You simply have to agree to work together in unity. If two yoked together cannot agree then they should part ways. If they continued together without parting they would pull different dirrections, causing friction and discord, until one could influence the other to go in one dirrection. Mark 9:47 says that if you eyes cause you to stumble then pluck it out, no not physically, but in kingdom mind, anything pulling you in the wrong dirrection is a temptation. Temptation is a stumbling block that leads to sin. It is so important to be careful who is influencing us, to know when to severe ties and when to bind them. We can still pull and intercede for those we seperated our yokes from, however we must protect ourselves from the negative influence, and set an example.

Paul is calling for unity among them, for them to be peacemakers and agree with one another. He understands that brothers and sisters righteously yoked in the gospel can still have disputes, but he wants them to resolve them without causing disunity. He knows that he used to be their acquiantence in the gospel (vs15) but now he is writing to them as a spiritual father. He encourages them as children -he longs for and loves- “my joy and crown” (vs1) to stand firm and put what they have learned from him into practice (vs9). A chain by itself is just a solid ring, but linked up chains, can hold up, tie, and bind. Just like Wifi they have to be connected to work well. What are we connected to?

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (Mat 5:9)

  2. v6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

We should not worry over situations, but we should fervently pray and be concern for each other lest we be consumed by deception ,evil influences , dangers and pitfalls.

Thank GOD for a praying Pastor and Church .

v4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

    MORE CONCERN
    MORE PRAYER
    MORE SUPPLICATION
    MORE THANKSGIVING
    MORE REJOICING

  3. Don’t worry!

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6-7‬ KJV)

Sickness, poverty, fear, stress, these are just a few things that has America dependent on drugs. It’s a cover up in order to make them feel at”peace” with themselves and others that surround them.

The use of recreational drugs only leads people further away from whom truly can bring life, wholeness, joy, a sound mind, and peace.
It has never been for us to worry, but to wholly trust the mighty hand of GOD.
ONCE A PERSON IS FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, you have a new way of thinking and a new way of living. You can wake up in the morning feeling joyful and feeling alive!! I’m very thankful that I can go to my savior in prayer, and receive direction and peace. I don’t need to worry, I’m sure that The Lord will take care of me.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭27‬ KJV)

  4. iLove to eat MORE Word
    And More
Philippians 4:18 (NLT) At the moment I have all I need—”and more”! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.

Amen, Paul was generously supplied with what he needed “and more”. God wants to bless the church with MORE but it all depends upon the willingness of the church. Paul is instructing the church that he wasn’t necessarily seeking something for himself, but he was seeking the favor and blessing of God upon them. 17 “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.”

If you want your account to be blessed…then give to the man of God.

  5. REJOICE MORE

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

The fallen nature of man is to be upset, angry and resentful. Life is filled with opportunities to fulfill the lust of the flesh and experience these attitudes in life. The longer we allow them to be buried in our spirit, the longer we allow satan to build a stronghold in our heart which separates us from the love of JESUS.

The antidote to anger and resent is REJOICE MORE. Invest MORE time and breath into Rejoicing and less into needless threats.

REJOICE – to feel or show that you are very happy about something

Greek – 5463. chairo, khah´-ee-ro; a primary verb; to be “cheer”ful, i.e. calmly happy or well-off; impersonally, especially as salutation (on meeting or parting), be well: — farewell, be glad, God speed, greeting, hall, joy(- fully), rejoice.

The LORD is at hand. REJOICE MORE in HIM!

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  6. Verses 4-5 MSG “Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!” Its time to really revel and celebrate our God; not only within ourselves, but, sharing the love of Christ with everyone we meet.

Verses 6-7 MSG “Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Pray, pray, pray, in all things pray.

Verse 23 MSG “Receive and experience the amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, deep, deep within yourselves.” Thank you Lord for your amazing grace upon me and my entire family…..in all things I give you thanks!

  7. 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I have learned to be content, being content is a process of learning. Most people are never content with life, life will bring all kinds of things your way. We need to learn to be abased or to abound in whatsoever state we are in. The need to be content with all things is here for us to learn how to suffer or to abound.
We should be content with life but never content with our walk with God. We should always be trying to excel in God to be whatsoever we can be.
We need the attitude of verse 13: I can do all things by the strength of Jesus Christ.

  8. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The key to being at peace in our hearts and our minds can be found in the scripture prior, in everything by prayer …….let your requests be made known unto God. He knows our need before we ever ask. He is well able to keep those things that we have committed unto Him, until that perfect day. Our struggle comes in when we take it to Him in prayer, but then pick it back up and worry about it. The words to an old Him come to mind:

What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry, Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit, Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry, Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness; Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge— Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

  9. 19. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Every loving parent supplies the needs of their children to the best of their ability, or according to their means. Our Heavenly Father is the same way; He wants to meet our needs according to his means, the only difference is that He has all power and all of the riches of glory to work with, so we have nothing to worry about! He will never have to say, “I would if I could, but I just can’t.”

  10. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

More peace! In thinking about how his peace could pass our understanding, it makes me sit and wonder about how wonderful it will be in his presence in Heaven! We have all experienced great moments of joy and peace in this life, but this is far greater. So, as verse 8 says, keep your mind, your thoughts on things just and pure. Rejoice & again I say rejoice! Even when we are in the valley, with our minds stayed on Him, we can have his peace.

  11. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We must be mindful of what we think. Science states that the human brain will first think what we say 7-10 times before we even say it. Makes you think. What are we allowing into our minds. Do we have the mind of Christ? Who are you listening too? Are they speaking life or death? What are watching? Is it glorifying God or our flesh? Think on these things above.

  12. Sick or health, rich or poor….I will be married to Jesus. And serve Him.

Thankyou Lord for Your Word. IM MARRIED TO YOU.!!! 🙂

  13. Just do it!

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

There are many promises in the word of God. All of them are true, and for us today. The hold up is never Gods willingness to do what he has promised, he is a man of his word, rather it is our part of the promise not being fulfilled. Every promise of God comes with a contingency, something that we are to do prerequisite of the promise being fulfilled. We have a part in the promise. It is the coined phrase of Nike “Just Do It”
So if your waiting on the the promises of God to be fulfilled in your life ….. Just Do It

  14. Positive things.

    Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

We are to think and ponder on things of good report. We should not dwell on the negative. Speak positive. Think positive. Be positive.

  15. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

In the good times or the bad, it can be easy by our cares and troubles that life throws at us. Sometimes it can be hard to focus when we get so many problems thrown at us. But when life becomes hard, that’s when we need to focus on God even more and the good works that he has done for us in our lives.

For every moment in our lives that we’ve had that we rather not remember, try to think of at least one moment where you remember God blessing you in your life. And remember that it’s not just limited to earthly possessions that God has given you, but the good memories in your life when you felt a smile across your face, a good laugh in your belly or that warm feeling when you feel loved by God or by someone else.

God blesses us in many ways, to as simple by the breath he gives us every day, to the beauty of nature he lets us view, like seeing freshly fallen snow on the ground, or even to the moments in life when you saw a new life born into your life or when you had a good time with friends, all of them are a blessing from God.

So no matter where you are and no matter how many problems seem to be piled ontop of you in your life, remember that God has blessed you in so many ways.

  16. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I have leaned on this scripture several times in my walk with God. When you feel you can’t go anymore talk to God.

  17. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me

AMEN!!! The verse that my son already knows by memory because this verse is what is going to help him in life when he thinks he cant make it anymore!!! No matter what situation I might be in I always lean on Jesus and He is there to restore me and fill me!!! No matter how you might feel Jesus has the answer and is willing to fill you with his Spirit!!! That is why people feel like their “burned out” and cant go on because they haven’t been filled with the Holy Ghost!!! Receiving the Holy Ghost gives us power and strength 🙂
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

  18. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4-7‬ ESV)
The joy of the Lord is our strength. How else can we survive this world without God?

  19. Don’t Worry Be Happy

Philippians 4:6 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation)
6 Stop worrying about even one thing, but in everything by prayer whose essence is that of worship and devotion and by supplication which is a cry for your personal needs, with thanksgiving let your requests for the things asked for be made known in the presence of God,

Stop worrying. I appreciate the way this version of the bible translates this verse.

Simply put, stop worrying. It’s easy to say but can be challenging to put into practice without following the prescribed prescription.

We cannot stop worrying without seeing life in proper perspective. When we put our eyes on Jesus, realize we are his children, and he is truly our provider we will offer our requests knowing he cares.

We ask with thanksgiving, not allowing ourselves to be overwhelmed by things we shouldn’t be concerned about.

(KJV Strong’s) 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Worry is the opposite of faith. Have faith and believe. God is always faithful. When we are thankful we are happy, joyful.

So, don’t worry Be Happy. 🙂

  20. 3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Yokefellow:yoked togetherof those united by the bond of marriage, relationship, office, labour, study, business, or the likeof a yoke fellow, consort, comrade, colleague, partner

True yokefellow, or sincere/genuine partners United by the bond of Jesus. If there are true yokefellow then there is likely false ones as well. We need to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves, as we seek unity and progression of the kingdom of God. The bible speaks of wolves in sheeps clothing. We will know each other by the fruit we produce.

  21. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

If we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us, why should there be any worries or doubts in our lives. We should be giving thanks to God for all the good and also for our shortcomings. We must humbly present ourselves not only for ourselves but also for others in intercession, and God will answer our prayers at the right time.

  22. Vs 4: Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say , Rejoice. I think Paul Is saying this with good reason: In Christ, you can have perfect confidence in everything you do and with the brethen. One thing he says that stands out to me is; he tells the Church to REJOICE in the Lord when? ALWAYS!!!!

  23. Rejoice More

4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

After his greeting the church and calling for peace in a dispute, Paul calls for the church to rejoice. Our rejoicing is not incidental but a priority in our Christian walk. It can be easy to be deceived to think joy is just a benefit but it is a primary fruit to be expressed by the church.

    Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

  24. 15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

There is a blessing in giving to God’s (Jesus) Kingdom (this is not the tithe, as the tithe is owed). Dear God, help me to hear you and give; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  25. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Worry and anxiety, stress… They do not come from God.  He through His Word is telling us the what we should do when things, “life” just happens to us.  He says to pray, with supplication and thanksgiving… Tell it to Jesus.  He is a loving father that desires a relationship with us.  Peace is what he offers when we pray.
I am reminded of a story I heard once in s preaching.  There was a little boy who loved to play in his sand box.  One day there was a big rock in his sand box. The boy tried with all his strength to remove it…but it was to big.  He brought a shovel to try and push it out, but his efforts where in vain. Then frustrated he began to cry.  The father heard and immediately attended to his son’s cry.  What’s the matter son? He asked.  There this big rock in my path on my sand box and I’ve tried everything to try to move it and I just can’t.  The father asked. Have you tried all?  He sadly said yes.  The father replied but you haven’t called on me?  He grabbed the stone and put it out.

That sometimes is the picture of our lives.  The father is just waiting for us to pray and call on him instead of bringing tormiol into our lives worrying, having anxiety.  He can:  God is able.   Then we see it says with thanksgiving.  That’s means there is an expected answer.  Yes, no, or wait..   He will give you peace when you pray.

    Matthew 6:
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  26. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6-7‬ NLT)

Worry is a root of fear and fear is not of God. If you’re continuously worrying how are you His? We need to focus on the promises of God, trusting Him in all that we do.

  27. Such power in the word!

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4-7‬ KJV)

We are to rejoice in God, be careful in front of men about how we act, and let God know everything tgat is in our hearts without holding anything back. After you tell God everything that’s bothering you, then you get peace through JESUS!

  28. Philippians 4: Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again. Rejoice let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is bear. Do not be anxious about anything but in Evert situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request a to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

  29. Supply !!!! 19. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Je’-sus. 20. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. A’-men. 21. Salute every saint in Christ Je’-sus. The brethren which are with me greet you. Gal. 1 : 2 22. All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Cae’-sar’s household. 23. The grace of our Lord Je’-sus Christ be with you all. A’-men. I Salute you Jesus !!!!
