Colossians 1

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;

8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:

25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

  1. Verses 3-8 MSG “Our prayers for you are always spilling over into thanksgivings. We can’t quit thanking God our Father and Jesus our Messiah for you! We keep getting reports on your steady faith in Christ, our Jesus, and the love you continuously extend to all Christians. The lines of purpose in your lives never grow slack, tightly tied as they are to your future in heaven, kept taut by hope. The Message is as true among you today as when you first heard it. It doesn’t diminish or weaken over time. It’s the same all over the world. The Message bears fruit and gets larger and stronger, just as it has in you. From the very first day you heard and recognized the truth of what God is doing, you’ve been hungry for more. It’s as vigorous in you now as when you learned it from our friend and close associate Epaphras. He is one reliable worker for Christ! I could always depend on him. He’s the one who told us how thoroughly love had been worked into your lives by the Spirit.” People in this city need to see our steady faith in Christ and the love within us for all. We must stay focused on our goal and never forget our true love. We must protect it, guard it and never slack as we work in His orchard. Help me Lord to stay grounded in you and your word as part of verses 21-23 MSG state “…You stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted…”.

  2. 20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

    21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

    22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

    23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

    Reconciliation is the work of God in us to deliver us from this world. We all were one time alienated from God and in need of his grace, because we can not of our own self reconcile ourselves to God. We must understand that Jesus Christ has to reconcile us back to him by his blood. Yes it takes the blood of a sacrifice for our sins to be washed away. Our wicked minds must be moved out and reconciled back to God by repentance and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
    After e get the Holy Ghost we have to start to work on being settled in our walk with God and keeping our hope in the gospel which is the only deliverance we have to overcome the world.

  3. 17. And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

    18. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

    The Voice:
    17. He has always been! It is His hand that holds everything together.

    18. He is the head of this body, the church. He is the beginning, the first of those to be reborn from the dead,

    so that in every aspect, at every view, in everything-He is first.!!

  4. Be filled with knowledge of His will

    “For this reason, from the day we heard about you, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God,” (Col 1:9–10 MOUNCE-NT)

    Praying for the beloved was a habit for Paul, 2 Thess. 1:11. It is, or at least should be, every saint’s desire to see new believers in Christ grow and be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This should inspire us to be available to teach, break bread, and fellowship with new believers. May more people step up to the call to indoctrinate and fellowship with those who seek to worship the Lord with us. May Paul’s passion to see spiritual maturity in the saints be our passion and may it be in our prayers.

  5. iLove to eat MORE Word

    Colossians 1:6 (NLT) This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.

    This scripture gives us great understanding into what the Word accomplishes once it goes out into the world. When the Word is preached it changes lives. Some might ask, “Am I really making a difference?” The answer is found in the fruit. Are the lives of others producing good fruit?

    I thank God for this daily blog. People’s lives are bearing more fruit because they are receiving more Word.

  6. MORE JESUS

    The Revelation of consistency is one the most dynamic visions we may possess. Understanding GOD first is the most important quest we can seek. JESUS is the physical manifestation of GOD.

    JESUS the image of GOD. JESUS created everything. ALL things are created for JESUS. JESUS comes before ALL things. ALL things consist by JESUS.

    Consist – exist, be: to be capable of existing: to be composed or made up

    JESUS holds everything together. Seek JESUS when things fall apart.

    iRepent
    iPray
    iPraise
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  7. 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
    11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
    12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
    13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

    We are known by our works. What are we working for? Who are we working for? Working for the greater good of the Kingdom. Thank you Jesus that he delivered us from evil. And we have the opportunity to do good. We may be born into sin. But we have the opportunity to be washed in His blood and receive His Spirit. So we might live eternally with him in heaven. We must look at every day as another opportunity to serve him in spirit and in truth. We have the greatest opportunity to reach out to others to persuade them to see that they need Him.

    More God
    More Kingdom
    More Opportunity

  8. 23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

    It is important once the salvation that is so freely given to us through the cross of Calvary that we don’t feel like we don’t need the principles and statues of the Lord because we are saved. Although we have been given the gift of salvation, none of us are truly saved until we cross the threshold of Heaven and hear the words well done thou good and faithful servant.

    We must continue in the race, fighting for our families, our friends and those that we associate with everyday. The Lord didn’t suffer and die for us just to receive salvation and then live to ourselves. He died to bring us life, and for us to share those life changing steps without everyone we meet.

  9. Colossians 1:27 (KJV Strong’s)
    27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

    Hope – joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation

    Glory – glorious display, magnificence, honor, splendor

    How do we attain salvation and glory?
    Christ in you

    Our daily relationship, communication, and communion with the Lord leads us from here through the pearly gates. The mystery is that one day the messiah’s spirit would be inside his children leading guiding and comforting them.

    I am thankful for the Holy Ghost!

  10. 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

    10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

    Do not cease to pray for your loved ones, your friends and your family that our looking for an answer and haven’t found Jesus. Even if it has been years, all it takes is one moment to have their lives changed and turned around, turning towards God.

    So pray for them, pray that they be filled with understanding so that when they hear the word they can receive it into their hearts and they can understand their spiritual situation they are in. And when they do find God, continue praying for them cause the battle isn’t over for their hearts, pray that they continue walking in the footsteps of God and continue to grow in his word.

  11. ALL IN ALL

    17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

    ALL THINGS…. all the air, all the people, all in all consist of Him and by HIM… HE IS MY GOD JESUS CHRIST MY SAVIOR, MY KING, MY LOVE, MY ALL.

  12. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it. (‭Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭21-23‬ NLT)

    God has done so much for me. I know I drifted away and God still kept me and drew me back into his arms. Yes things are different, but God You are not! I thank You everyday for that and I will continue on to thank You for it. I know you have so much more planned for me than what I thought.

    Just like I witnessed in my own walk and how I fell back. Shows we can conquer anything with God and God can use us mightily! We can use our walk to show people we aren’t perfect, but that doesn’t mean God can’t use us. We need to stay strong in God and we also need to reach the lost. Because remember when you were in a tough spot or when you fell….God didn’t give up on you, so why should we on the lost or the backslid one? WE SHOULDNT! Reach out to everyone in the church and in the streets, at your work or even on your Facebook. Just be a disciple and help the lost see God has so much more for them….just like He showed you and just like He showed me.

    Let’s be more of a disciple
    More of a witness
    We need More!
    Show More!
    Give More!

  13. vs-9
    THAT WHICH GOD HAS WILLED
    We know that God has willed through His objective revelation as found in the Scriptures. Knowing God personally and experientially starts the objective revelation ginen us in Gods Word.

  14. 21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

    22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

    23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

    Jesus died on the cross to redeem us (buy us back) from sin, but we also have our own part to play in being the redeemed,,,,we must continue! This makes me think of the parable of the sower and some of the seed sprang forth into live, but cares and pleasures caused many to die. Our part is to continue in this faith, becoming rooted & grounded. A Palm tree has roots that extend nearly a mile underground, so that this tree can withstand hurricanes. Being rooted and grounded in God is what sees us through the storms of life!

  15. Colossians 1:21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But Noe he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body though death to present you holy in his sight without blemish and free from accusation if you continue in your faith established and firm and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.

  16. Colossians 1:11

    Strengthen— for What?
    great endurance and patience!
    It takes God’s power and might for me to have great endurance and patience, but that’s not usually my goal. I want victory, not endurance. And patience?
    Psalm 6:3 “How long, O Lord, how long?”

  17. Vs 13: who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son… . Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be free from the power of darkness, and serving the King, (Jesus) in His Kingdom! Awesome!

  18. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.” Paul explained it very well. All have access to God (Jesus), because of his (God’s) blood that was shed (for everyone). Dear God, help me to become more like you; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  19. Eternal Savior

    26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

    Revelation 13:8
    And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world

    Jesus has always been our eternal Savior even before we needed one. He’s the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, the One who was our salvation before He even created us. His plan for our redemption was never a last minute, Plan B approach. He knew we would fall and need Him to help us get back up. He knew He would have to be our Savior when He was our Creator.

    Deuteronomy 33:27
    The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms…

  20. Mysterious

    27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

    I guess it was mysterious of sorts the first time that I heard someone sleek in tongues. I had no idea that it was the evidence of God dwelling in them. But now the mystery is made known to me. It just sea natural now that when I pray the Holy Ghost takes over. I am thankful for his Spirit living in me. Thank God for the Holy Ghost!

  21. For I serve a mighty and strong God that provides and delievers me throught anything in my life that’s not hard or impossible for him to do in my life and others,he’s my shield and my rock that protects me from evil and corruption,he’s my light through victory that he direct’s me where ever he wants me too go I’ll go in his name that’s mighty and powerful. For I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me!!! In jesus name!!! Amen !!!!

    Psalm 39:1 I said, I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the the presence of the wicked.

  22. 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

    Where would I be without the blood? Where would we or anyone be? I’m thankful for his blood that washes away my sins. Thankful for his love sacrifice commitment. There is power in the Blood of the Lamb.. JESUS

  23. Mystery !!!! 26. Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gen’-tiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Rom. 9 : 23 28. Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Je’-sus: I sing Glory to your name !!!! I Lift you up Higher !!!! Jesus I Love You !!!!

  24. Nothing but the blood

    And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. (‭Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬ KJV)

    I thank God for the blood everyday. There is nothing that I can do on my own. The blood of Jesus covers me daily. Thank you JESUS for that precious blood! Oh that we would have MORE people who are brought into the peace that comes through the blood of Christ.

  25. v27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

    Thank you LORD for preparing us for an eternal life with with.

  26. 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

    11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

    12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
    These are the changes that happen within us when we begin to walk with the Lord. We are filled with joy and love for one another.
