2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. 40 days of fire.

    2Th. 1:11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power,

    Those who approach 440 with faith and zeal will see this scripture in their lives and those they intercede for. We are entering into a unique time for spoil. The victories over the course of the next quarter will prove to us the dominion we hold on this city. It will be the victory that inspires many other victories much like David’s victory over Goliath inspired others to kill Giants.

    We are going to take this city by force.

  2. v12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according yo the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    PRAISE GOD!!!!
    Our troubles, sickness or persecution we may face only creates an opportunity to GLORIFY and testify of HIS GREATNESS , LOVE , POWER ,PROTECTION
    DELIVERANCE, SALVATION , MIRACLES SIGNS AND WONDERS .

    MORE PRAISE and THANKSGIVING!!!

  3. 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

    12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    That we could be counted worthy of this calling, this is the greatest calling we can have is to be called a saint in the kingdom of God. We need to work in the kingdom of God and understand the good pleasure of his goodness. God wants everyone to take advantage of his mercy. The great name of Jesus Christ being glorified in us all the time, what a thought, that we can have that name glorified
    in us.What a mighty God we serve.

  4. Calling all saints (messengers)….

    I thankyou Lord that when we obey you and do the calling that youve called us to do that no one can hurt us. With all your(Jesus’) power and might we can be the best we can be. We are TRIUMPHANT!!!! Victorious!!! We serve a mighty God!! Dont judge.

  5. Verses 11-12 CEV “God chose you, and we keep praying that God will make you worthy of being his people. We pray for God’s power to help you do all the good things that you hope to do and that your faith makes you want to do. Then, because God and our Lord Jesus Christ are so kind, you will bring honor to the name of our Lord Jesus, and he will bring honor to you.”

    Same verses AMP “With this in view we constantly pray for you, that our God may deem and count you worthy of [your] calling and [His] every gracious purpose of goodness, and with power may complete in [your] every particular work of faith (faith which is that [b]leaning of the whole human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness). Thus may the name of our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified and become MORE glorious through and in you, and may you [also be glorified] in Him according to the grace (favor and blessing) of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”

  6. 4. We proudly tell God’s other churches about your endurance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and hardships you are suffering. NLT

    People will tell of how POFW set an example for other churches that you can endure and even flourish through the hardships of a building program.

  7. iLove to eat MORE Word

    2 Thessalonians 1:11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him.

    This is our prayer as well at The Pentecostals of Fort Worth. We pray that God would give us power to do His good will. We must enter into spiritual rest and be renewed in the power of the Holy Ghost. We cannot afford to be found asleep in the spirit when Jesus comes back. We must prepare ourselves through the good times and the bad times to be able to endure what is coming upon the face of the earth.

  8. 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

    We can bring our troubles and problems and just hand them over to Jesus, no more worry because we know He is going to take care of them all !
    If we will do this we will have rest and peace from the cares of life that satan tries to put on us to weight us down and try to stop us!!!
    If we will do this and( this is what God wants)we will leave the house of God renewed and rested in our spirit!
    A vacation can’t give you the rest that God can !!
    He can let you see the light at the end of the tunnel when our problems have kept us in darkness and despair!!
    Serving God is AWSOME!!

  9. 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

    12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  10. 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

    The coming of the Lord is very close. The trouble is just heating up. All we have to do is listen to the news. Wars. Rumors of wars. Nation turning on their allies. Israel standing alone. If we would read in the bible where we’re at. We are so close. As my grandmother would say. Wake up church. Wake up.

    More revival in the end times
    More unity
    More of Him.

  11. NLT of 2 Thess. 1:11-12
    So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.

    I pray that God will give us, POFW, the strength and power to accomplish all the good things our faith prompts us to do for His kingdom. That the name of our Lord Jesus may be honored.

  12. 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    In the natural world, one purpose for a fire is to purify and destroy. When a wildfire goes through a forest it burns down all the trees in it’s path. But from the ashes that it creates, it helps provide a soil that is even more nutritious than before, which allows to forest to grow that is even bigger and more beautiful than the one before.

    We need the fire of God to go through our lives so that it helps to purify us and purge us from the things that we do not need in our lives. When we do, it builds a foundation, and we will come out stronger and better than before.

    We need 40 days of fire! We need more of God!

  13. 5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

    Paul is writing to indicate that some might not be counted worthy of the kingdom. In order to be counted worthy, they would need to endure persecution. Who among us has suffered persecution for Jesus? Not too many, maybe a little ridicule by peers for praying over our food or not partaking in certain events or conversations. However, when we stand our ground people generally respect our wishes and even show us respect for our beliefs. I have experienced as I am sure some of you have that in some occasions where a person might say a curse word in front of us would then apologize to us for their words; there are others who offer no apology also.

    The point is, being counted as one of God’s children here among the shadows is not enough. We must maintain the fight and run our race to be counted as one of His by His standards not this untoward generations standards; in the most loosest of definitions of the word standard.

    Woke up with this song on my heart today and received an awesome word from the Lord this morning; I am truly blessed.

    I have a Maker
    He formed my heart
    Before even time began
    My life was in his hands

    I have a Father
    He calls me His own
    He’ll never leave me
    No matter where I go

    He knows my name
    He knows my every thought
    He sees each tear that falls
    And He hears me when I call

  14. MORE HOPE

    6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
    7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
    8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    Often we are tempted to take vengence ourselves on those that have hurt or wronged us. The Apostle charges in this epistle that the LORD will trouble those that trouble us, that HE will GIVE us REST in HIM and HE will judge ALL sin at HIS return.

    Hold these promises and release those that have hurt us. As we forgive others we release them to the righteousness of GOD. Holding grudges is self destructive because you will never feel justified. Releasing the offender to the hand of GOD releases us to GROW in GOD and take on HIS nature.

  15. 11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. NLT

    So we keep on praying has really stuck with me this morning. Through all situations we keep on praying. All day, all night, all week, Keep on praying.
    Then the scripture states that He will give you the power to accomplish all good things!

    11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: KJV

  16. MORE: one on one

    2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation)
    8 alloting full justice to those who do not know God and who do not obey the good news concerning our Lord Jesus, 9 who are such that they shall pay the penalty of everlasting ruin and death in [their] separation from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

    The born again experience is necessary. It is vital. It cannot be excused. There is no getting around it. We must obey the gospel. The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord.

    We obey the gospel by dying in repentance, being buried in baptism, and resurrecting to walk in new life having receive the gift of the Holy Ghost! This is the gospel and how we obey it.

    Let us never forget the other part of this.

    …alloting full justice to those who do not know God.

    Know means (CWSB Dictionary) To see face to face, to see and talk with, to visit, i.e., to have personal acquaintance and relationship with

    It is good to begin the process but we must also maintain the walk. If we stop walking with him we risk not knowing him. If we stop walking with him we refuse personal relationship.

    Yes be born again! Please don’t stop there! Walk with God, never let go of his hand, and you will walk all the way to heaven with him.

    The promise of Enoch is still available to this day.

    Genesis 5:24 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
    24 And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him].

    We need MORE personal relationship with Jesus!

  17. 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

    8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

    We know that we must endure until the end & even though we in the United States have not suffered violent persecution, we know that it is coming. We would never wish anyone to be punished, but some people are going to be enemies of God until the end. However, there is a harvest yet to be reached, so we must be about our Father’s business! Reach, teach, disciple, repeat.

  18. 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

    Vengeance belongs to the Lord. We are to show the love of Jesus to everyone no matter what they may do to us.

  19. NIV – 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.

    How sad it will be to be shut out from the presence of the Lord forever. I must do everything within my power to make sure my life is right. People continually take the opportunity we have to stand in His presence on a weekly basis for granted, and that is ashame, but when that trumpet of the Lord sounds, and He descends with a a shout from on high with His angels and comes back for His bride, there are no more opportunities to stand in His presence, if we miss that rapture. His judgement will fall and we will forever be lost. I MUST BE SAVED!!! I will not and cannot afford to compromise at this juncture in my walk with God.

  20. 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

    Matthew 5:9
    Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

    This world is full of trouble but we are called to be peacemakers. Whenever you can make peace instead of winning an argument or wording about how it looks, you gain the favor of God. When Jesus was headed to the cross he took the punishment and the bible says he said nothing. Peace is greater than war. Peace will calm tribulation. When Jesus walked out on the helm of the boat that was seemingly sinking he said Peace, be still. Speak peace and the tribulation around you will calm.

  21. 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

    Oh to be called by Jesus is what my heart longs for!

  22. (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭11-12‬ NLT)

    Lord, I pray you would prompt my faith to enhance your kingdom. Let my life song honor you.

  23. 2 Thessalonians 1:3 We ought always to thank God for you brothers and sisters and rightly so because your faith is growing more and more and the love all of you have for one another isincreasing .therefore among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trails you are enduring. All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.

  24. What an encouraging word to receive!!!!!!!!

    3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

    When I was a babe in Christ, I didn’t know very much, and because I was transferred a couple of weeks after coming to Christ, I had no instruction of how to live my new life. It wasn’t until 2 years later that while attending a church in Washington state that I was assigned a mentor, Pastor David DaPron, his wife Sis. DaPron, guided me, taught me, mentor me, loved me, corrected me, and encourage me in the Lord everyday. We all need someone that we can call upon when the storm seems to rage. We all need someone to tell us that we can as long as we hold tight to the word. Yes, it seems simple to say encourage yourself, but there are times when we need a loving Sis or Bro to reassure us that everything will be fine, just hold on a little longer Sister/Brother. When we lose that one voice that always led us and held us up is gone your heart aches and the empty space that they leave can never be filled. I miss her so very much. My sister, my friend, my kindred spirit. All babes in Christ need a friend to encourage them in their new life, and I feel this letter serve as that an encouraging word to stay strong in faith, to reach the goals in Christ Jesus.

  25. They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power. (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ NLT)

    Vengeance is the Lords.

    Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬ NLT)

    I want my life to be a sacrifice to my God. Living and breathing for him. Doing his working spreading his gospel! Cause it has saved me and kept me.

  26. 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

    12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ

  27. 2 Thessalonians 1 3-4
    We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
    verse 4
    So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

    ENCOURAGEMENT Is the OXYGEN of the SOUL
    Paul encourage the church of Thessalonians,
    He told them personally how much he lieved in them. He told them specifically what he appreciated about them. He also told other churches how much he thought of them.
    And my favorite:
    Verse 5-6 He told them he had a goal for their lives- their motivation and vindication

    We leaders need to encourage others, the power of encouragement can open peoples hearts to wanting to do more for the Lord, of course we shouldn’t expect to be recognized… but when we encourage someone the person gets more motivated to do more for the Lord.

    MORE encouragement !!!

  28. Prayer gives us strength even in our weakest moment. Without prayer we have no communication with God. When we take the time out to pray our day will go a whole lot better.

  29. Fulfilled

    Philippians 1:6 NLT
    And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

    We will never be more fulfilled than when the plan of God is being fulfilled in our lives. His plan continues until the day of His coming, even outlasting us; what God plans is bigger than us and involves us as only a piece of the grand design. It is His desire to see His plan worked through us to fulfillment, and in that we can find great joy and satisfaction in Him.

  30. 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

    8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    God is a God of mercy and grace. We are blessed to live in a period of God’s grace. But there is a day of judgement that God will use to take vengeance on those who do not know him and have not walked with God. It should be our mission to have a relationship with God. to ‘know” God for ourselves. In doing so we get to experience his mercy and grace and be saved when he returns.

  31. 2 Thessalonians 1:12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Our lifestyle should be one that brings God glory. Some people are so worried about being accepted or fitting in. The really concern should be is my life glorifying God. God will take care of his own. We must give God the due glory he deserves. Thank tou Jesus for allowing us to serve you and do many things for your kingdom.

  32. In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you. (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬ NLT)

    Don’t worry and stress about the people who degrade you for living a life honoring God. In His timing those individuals will be judged by the only one who truly matters. Stay and trust that God is on your side and will fight your battles for you, if you honor and obey Him. We will be the victorious in Jesus name!

  33. iPray for you…
    …”that our God would count you worthy of this calling,”
    … that He will “fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:”
    …”That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

  34. (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭11-12‬ NLT)

    Just like Paul, Salis and Timothy did in praying for other believers we should do the same…..praying for them to get stronger in God and getting a better understanding in things they don’t know yet. I know I would want someone to pray for me. So just like we have all heard before “do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.”

  35. More Bound

    We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; (‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ KJV)

    They had to thank Jesus for these people because of their faith. I think that the ministries at POFW have exhibited great faith. I know there are people who are bound by their miracles to thank God fir the faith exhibited at POFW. My desire is that our faith would rise and more people would be bound to thanking God for our faith that allows their miracles too!

    But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ KJV)

  36. “Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.” One need not look far to see that many do not see a need for God (Jesus). One need not look far too see the deceiver (satan) and his immoral acts are attempting to destroy our nation; “One Nation under God”. All the more why one (I) must see there is a need to seek the face of God (Jesus). Dear God, help me to see beyond my needs as souls are in the balance; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  37. 3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

    always thanking God just like we, as texans always greet each other with either a slight wave, a nod, or a smile. we are to always thank God.

  38. Father If you would allow me to have more of your word for that my faith and relationship with you my be strong and powerful for Iam a strong solider that my gods blood is covered over me In jesus Name !!

    2 Corinthians 7:16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all

    Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  39. 6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

    7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

    It is our nature to always want revenge when people trouble us or hurt us. So many time we want to do the same thing these people have done to us even worst because that is what will satisfy our flesh. We must remember that we are not here to please our flesh and what it wants to do and feel, but we are here to please God. He is the one that will satisfy our soul and spirit and He will justice to those that trouble us. God is in control!

  40. 11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

    With Power!!!! Nothing like Holy Ghost Power!!!! 🙂 He has given us power not to have our heads down but to rise up and be more than a conquer!!!! Jesus did not give is the spirit of fear but of power, love, and sound mind 🙂 hallelujah!!! Thank you Jesus!!!

  41. Troubled !!!! 7. And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Je’-sus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8. In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Je’-sus Christ: 9. Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; Deut. 33 : 2 Thank you Jesus for loving me.

  42. 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

    8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    I don’t know if I’m reading this Correctly, that the vengeance will be on them that don’t know him. So there goes the question about, what if they have never heard of God, or what will the judgement be on those that don’t know God. Pretty clear to me.
