1 Timothy 3

1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:

15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

  1. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

  2. Verses 14-15 NKJV “These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly; but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” Everything has an order and place in the house of God. For it is the church of the LIVING God, pillar and ground of the truth. Many things have been lost in this world, in this new generation…..a lack of respect and order. We must take note and glean from our older generation.

  3. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

    I am so thankful for TRUTH! Many people have a relationship of sorts with the Lord, but they have not allowed the true revelation of who Jesus is into their life. If we don’t have a revelation of His deity, who He is and was in the different manifestations, then how can we really know Him?

    His Spirit leads and guides us into all truth, therefore we must have an open mind and spirit when revelation comes. We all must know God for ourselves. We cannot get to heaven on a relationship our parents or grandparents had. His diety is a great mystery that only we can understand if our hearts and spirits are open for revelations with a prayerful attitude.

  4. Leaders.

    Thank you Jesus for our leaders in the church body.
    There is great responsibility in holding a position of these magnitudes. Many people want the position but don’t want to do the work to get there. Just as going to mt everst. There are processes that must take place. We must pray for our leaders and be behind them.

    More revival
    More four40
    More of God.

  5. 1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
    8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

    9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

    To desire the office of a Bishop or Deacon, which are the ministers or leaders of today’s church has a requirement that must be reached.
    NOT DOUBLE TONGUED
    What does this really mean, that we do not say one thing with our mouth and do another with our life. We are not what we say but what we do.
    To desire these offices we must be willing to hold the mystery of this Faith with a pure conscience. This means we must represent this message by living a life beyond reproach. We must not be greedy, money cannot be what life is all about, we must actually care about people.

  6. 1 Timothy 3:10 (KJV Strong’s)
    10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

    1 Timothy 3:13 (KJV Strong’s)
    13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

    Proved – to test, examine, prove, scrutinise (to see whether a thing is genuine or not), as metalsto recognise as genuine after examination, to approve, deem worthy

    We cannot look at life’s circumstances and blame all the bad on the devil. God is raising up men and women to be ministers of the gospel. However he knows what will happen down the road. He prepares us molding us through the flame and fire; he allows us to go through affliction, and adversity to grow in his kingdom.

    Here the man of God tells us not to give up because by enduring we purchase great faith, and boldness.

    We may not like it while we are going through it but if we choose to hold on God will bring us out and we will shine his light to this world!

  7. MORE LEADERSHIP = MORE WORK

    1 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

    Many aspire to Leadership, not fully understanding the great responsibility that accompanies Leadership. The Apostles description of requirements for Leadership in the Church come under the umbrella of credibility that creates influence among peers, followers and society. Wise Spiritual Leaders accept the position and its responsibilities with great caution and respect.

    Our influence will generate MORE WORK as we grow into MORE LEADERSHIP, for this reason we find great value in accountability, responsibility and delegation. Dream BIG, Work HARD, Live RIGHT, Love GOD, Love OTHERS and protect your testimony at all cost.

  8. amen
    1Timothy 3:10
    And let these also first be proved then let them use the office of a deacon being found blamless.

  9. one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); (‭I Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭4-5‬ NKJV)

  10. iLove to eat MORE Word

    4He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. 5For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?

    This is good instruction for the office of a Bishop but is also good direction for the rest of the Church as well. This is the reason I have to whoop the cushions of the lil guy and gal at my house. Sometimes they come home with eyes glazed like donuts from grandma’s house…In order for our house to be respectable, children must be disciplined in love and this will glorify God.

  11. 8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

    9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

    As leaders it is our responsibility to not only believe the truth, but walk in the truth and live the truth with our lives. Keeping our lives pure and holy, because we are the light of the world, our lives are a testimony to those that do not know Him. We represent God everywhere we are.

  12. 1Timothy 3:1 Here is a trustworthy saying Whoever aspires to bean overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach faithful to his wife temperate selfcontrolled respectable, hospitable, able to teach not given to drunkenness not violet but gentle not quarrelsome not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect if anyone does not know how to mange his own family how can he take care of God s church.

  13. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

    Amen for that! We don’t have to understand and know everything about God though we should always strive to, but that is why we have faith, cause we put our trust in him

  14. 12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

    As men of God, it is important that we have our house in order. Not just natural order, but Godly order as well. Men are the leaders of the home and as leaders we must be the first example. It is our responsibility to stand on the front line and face any attack that might come against our home.

  15. vs-16
    The mystery that gives us our reverence for God is acknowledged to be great He appeared in his human nature was approved by the Spirit was seen by angels was announced throughout the nations was believed in the world and was taken to heaven in glory.

  16. “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” Paul the man of God, provided sound guidance. Dear God, help me to heed your guidance; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  17. 9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

    What my God told me about this scripture is that for, I his child should keep all the experience of his truth of faith with a clean heart. For things I, do in the flesh I, thank god for his forgiveness of my repentance. For that I pray for strength and direction for that my God gives me guidance and also forgiving me passion to help the next generation that is to come. In Jesus Name!!!

    Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail.

    Numbers 24:4 The Prophecy of one who hears the words of God

  18. 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

    5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

    6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

    There must be respect for the higher offices of the church-approached with caution. Your life is under the magnifying glass for all to see. The Bishop will oversee many churches and greater responsibilities fall to him. What a great honor to be used of God in this capacity. Our new Bishop needs our prayers as he leads and guides us & the people of this region.

  19. so that if I am delayed, you will know how people must conduct themselves in the household of God. This is the church of the living God, which is the pillar and foundation of the truth. (‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ NLT)

    Just like in our own homes parents give rules to their children and we are the children of God so He has rules in His house that we must obey.

  20. 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory
    Without a doubt this is one of the most powerful one God scripture in the bible. Especially in the new testament. With every statement of this verse you can see how it directly relates to the old testament and Jehovah. We’re thankful for the revelation of the oneness of God!

  21. 1Tim. 3:16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:
    He was manifested in the flesh,
    vindicated by the Spirit,
    seen by angels,
    proclaimed among the nations,
    believed on in the world,
    taken up in glory.
    Some Greek manuscripts include theos and some do not. The older manuscripts do not. This is not detrimental to the fact that the verse is indeed talking about God. The context implies it in the previous verses. Thank God for the revelation we have about him. God came to use in the form of the man. The creator became the creation. What a marvelous act. Mankind fell in the garden bc they valued the opinion of the creation (serpent) over the creator. God chose to redeem us through taking on humanity to himself. He truly is worthy of all our praise.

  22. 6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

    For someone, young or old, pride can creep up and cause many problems, if a person does not vigilantly watch against pride with humility…

  23. The Word became flesh……….GOD…….

    16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

    “Still want to be a bishop?”…..Strict Expectations from God…….

  24. 5. (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

    1 Corinthians 14:33
    For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

  25. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ KJV)

    What a verse! It says so much in a short space. A synopsis of the life of Christ in 35 words. His is a great scripture for those that are doubting the Godhead.

  26. 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

    First word that came into mind: guidelines. I am thankful for what the long past elders and bishops of the faith have passed down and the apostolic doctrine to follow. Thankful as well for a church established with guidelines that promote growth.

    Proverbs 22:28King James Version (KJV)

    28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

  27. From Glory To Glory

    10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

    Traveling from point A to B in the Spirit is not as simple as waking up one day and chosing to make the journey. It is a process and we must be proven many times if we are to make the journey from one stage to the next and advance in God’s plan for our role in the ministry of the Kingdom. That process happens over time as we are faithfully submitted to the Lord and allow Him to transform us to be conformed to His perfect will.

    2 Corinthians 3:18
    But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

  28. Bishop !!!! !. THIS is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. Acts 20 : 28 2. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3. Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4. One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5. ( For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? ) I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!
