2 Timothy 4

1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.

13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.

14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.

21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.

  1. Verses 1-2 MSG “I can’t impress this on you too strongly. God is looking over your shoulder. Christ himself is the Judge, with the final say on everyone, living and dead. He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people. Don’t ever quit. Just keep it simple.”

    Same verses AMP “I charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by (in the light of) His coming and His kingdom: Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching.” Sometimes it will not be the most popular thing to do; but, we must be vigilant and proclaim the Message of Christ. We have to challenge ourselves and not quit. Lord help us to stay focused and stand firmly in you.

  2. 14. Keep your eye out for Alexander the coppersmith! He came against me with all sorts of evil-may the Lord pay him back accordingly-

    15. so watch your back because he has gone overboard to oppose our message. The Voice

    He didn’t try to repay Alexander on his own, he let the Lord deal with him; however, he did mark him as opposition and warned others about him. We are not to retaliate physically when others do us wrong, but we don’t need to be their punching bags either!

    Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. KJV

    Romans 16:17 KJV
    Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. KJV

  3. 11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

    He is a God of a second chance. Paul looks forward to the restoration of Mark for assistance in ministry.

    To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: -Ecclesiastes 3:1

    For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. -Romans 11:29

    Never give up on God’s plan for you!

  4. vss.3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own list shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
    And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

    Only GOD knows the number of times that mankind has chosen a cheap substitute for
    ” TRUTH”. It seems like unreasonable choice to choose a sinful lifestyle that will destroy us.
    Thank you JESUS for your MERCY AND GRACE.
    providing an opportunity for us to confess and repent.
    GOD has entrusted us with treasures of TRUTH.
    THE ONENESS OF GOD, REPENTANCE, BAPTISM IN JESUS’ NAME, AND THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY GHOST WITH THE EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN OTHER TONGUES AND HOLY LIVING BOTH INWARDLY AND OUTWARDLY.

    MORE TRUTH
    MORE HOLY GHOST

  5. 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

    For I am now ready (READY). How many of us can make this statement I am ready right now to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand? This is a very important statement to be able to make and leads to other statements that this great Apostle made.
    How many of us are truly seeking for that crown of righteousness? What does this constitute seeking for this crown? I am amazed at all this and want to know my name is in the book of life. We seek everyday for that crown of righteousness and know and understand that there is a fight for this crown.
    To make it to the end we not forsake God as Demas and many others have did along the way. Allowing the world to get in our way in living for God, let’s open up our heart and make up our mind I want to end this race on a fast pace.

  6. 2 Timothy 4:3-4
    Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of jesus christ.
    No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life that
    he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

    This talks about that god wants to be good soldiers for him and in the battle when we fight we and jesus have won becuse we and god has the victory and we will seced too his kigdom and i know i am a soldier for god.

  7. 9 Timothy, please come as soon as you can. 10 Demas has deserted me because he loves the things of this life and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus has gone to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you when you come, for he will be helpful to me in my ministry. 12 I sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13 When you come, be sure to bring the coat I left with Carpus at Troas. Also bring my books, and especially my papers. (NLT)

    We are at war. Some will stay and fight with you others will leave. It would be ignorant for me to say it doesn’t matter who leaves because it does. Souls matter to God and they should also matter to us. Our responsibility is to put those that walk away into God’s hand, Pray for them, and keep fighting.

    I’ve heard many times watch, fight, and prAy. Your watching for two reasons. Watching out for temptation and also the return of those that your fighting for.

  8. But it’s not popular….

    You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you —keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant. (‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭3-5‬ MSG)

    In the days that we currently are living in, people are more consumed with what is appealing to their fleshly desires.
    Just this Thursday it seemed kind of awkward hearing these two Senior guys in high school talking about what is going on in Israel. Not that they were for Israel, but, talking about a girl who was telling them that they needed to be ready for the coming of The Lord, and they just laughed at her with disbelief. Then their was another instance where a young man was inviting his friend to his youth group, the guy played it off and simply said no, and came up with excuses not to go.
    As I said earlier “it’s not popular” the gospel of Christ is not the “in” right now. But as a Christian we need to simply continue proclaiming the word of The Lord in our city, continue to pray, and continue reaching out!
    There is hurting people out there, that are truly seeking help…. And you have the message that can lead them to The Lord.
    So speak up, and proclaim the gospel!!

    Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬ NLT)

  9. MORE HELP THAN WE WILL EVER NEED

Amen.

    Reading the testimony of the Apostle over and over I was compelled to consider my days on earth and the challenges we face. Knowing the LORD is with us has greater value than an entire government of this world standing with us. In a season of loneliness and weakness the LORD did not forsake Paul, but stood with him and even strengthened him as well as delivered him and preserved him.

    We have this promise as we fulfill the calling of the LORD in our lives, resisting temptation and rebuking fear, we take authority and dominion over every evil. Granting us victory for eternity.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  10. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

    8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

    In the mist of my battle I read this words with the understanding that may be it is ok to look forward to the day that we will be reunited with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now, this is not a death wish but a clear and concise knowledge that the human body as the fleshy vessel that it is corruptible to time, sickness, and the poisons of this temporary Earth. To be in Heaven is the ultimate healing, a brand new body, a white gown, and a crown on your head. No pain, no tears, and the pleasure to be able to stand in His Presence praising Him continuously ! What a mighty God we serve!!!! FOR HE IS GOOD SO GOOD! PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!

  11. 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

    3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

    We take every opportunity we are given to tell others, instruct, encourage people about Jesus Christ and salvation. They may only have one chance to hear the gospel, if we are not sensitive to the Lord, we might miss that chance and be the one with blood on our hands. Be instant in season and out of season.

  12. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. (NLT)

    If you have a true burden for the lost and desire to serve the lord, there should be nothing that would stop you from proclaiming His word. It’s our duty to serve God and do the works of His kingdom to the best of our abilities; it should be our desire to always want to do more!

  13. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

    The word.

    We must read and listen to the Word of God. How are we to know if we don’t read the word. It is alive.

  14. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

    So many go to nondenominational churches because they are preach to softly. They don’t want the preacher to step on their toes, cause he may actually be preaching to them. They don’t want to follow any rules that the bible has. I thank God we have a pastor who preaches loud and clear what the bible has to say!

  15. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

    4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

    I think this day that Paul is talking about has quickly come upon us in this generation. We have to be careful who we listen to and what we believe, for there doctrines out there that are not sound and based in truth.

    The way we counteract this by knowing the truth like we know the sound of our mother’s voice. We need to know the word of God and have it hidden in our hearts, so that we hear a word, we know whether it is from God or whether it is from man.

  16. iLove to eat More Word

    7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith

    Praise the Lord, Paul could feel in the Holy Ghost that the end of his time was near. He was prepared to meet the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

    When we come to the end of our life we must be able to boldly declare that we have fought a good fight…

  17. 19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
    20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
    21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

    Every name matters. We should all strive to have our names written in His book of Life.

  18. vs-8
    If we really long for Christ to return were unlikely to become to concerned about the passing things of earth. Keeping ones eyes fixed on Jesus will surly help us to fullfill our own charge to live for him
    Paul has a testimony. He has fought his own good fightand now has finished his race. And he knows that thier waiting for him to claim is the Crown that God will reward him when Jesus comes. And the same is true for all who long for Christ appearing.
    Nothing that happens to us on earth can threaten our ultimate security.HEAVEN IS OUR HOME.

  19. 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

    3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

    It’s our responsibility to be ready to give, teach, preach a word to someone at all times, which means that we must know and have His Word in our heart, especially today because a lot of people just want to hear what they want to hear from the Word and not the complete truth. I am thankful to be in a church where the whole truth and nothing but the truth is taught. MORE TRUTH!

  20. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

    Enouph said. In Jeaua NAME.
    I love you Jesus.

  21. 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.

    We must be prepared at all times to boldly proclaim, preach this message of salvation. We shouldn’t be afraid to use the word to correct rebuke and encourage because like Paul said, it is the power of God unto salvation. We must be ready to share. We don’t know when some one’s last time will be. This word is genuine life. And really deals with the issues of people’s life.

    For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

  22. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

    Don’t give up, God has planned our lives, He has also planned for us to save certain lives as well, and if you give up? those certain lives don’t have a chance. Your life, My life means more than one life in Christ, It means more lives!

    If one equals 1,000, if your life in Christ means 1,000 souls, if my life means 1,000 souls. then when you give up on your one life, who is going to save the 1,000? No one can take over your life and be like “well (name) decided to give up, so I’m going to take over their responsibility too…?” um no.

    Do everything as if God is sitting beside you watching you work, because well He is.

  23. 18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

    The Lord seems to be saying in this passage “Don’t worry about it. I got this!”

    We can walk through perilous situations, and troublesome circumstances. We can face the lion, the serpent, and persecutions.

    As long as we stay with the Lord and walk with him it will work out. God knows what he is doing. He wants us to trust in him!

  24. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. The world is looking for someone to say what they are doing, or not doing is ok, which the fact is the only right way is in the word of God (Jesus).

    10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. One must be aware, as the deceiver (satan) is working to lure away in any manner. Dear God, awaken me and open my eyes and ears; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  25. Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths. But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

    Yes, and the Lord will deliver me from every evil attack and will bring me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen. (‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭2-5, 18‬ NLT)

    We all need to stay strong with God in every way because the time is coming where we won’t always have pastor or a teacher by our side to tell us what the word says or what God is saying so we need to be strong in God and in His word so that way God can talk to us and that way we can know His word. With God on our side we have the victory!!!!

  26. 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine
    As ministers of the gospel God wants us to live by this scripture. He wants us to cry aloud and spare not our voices while we also make sure to do so in love and compassion. If we can be balanced in our lives and ministry God will use us greatly

  27. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. (‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭3‬ NLT)

    I am thankful to have a pastor that will not say things to tickle my ears, instead he preaches truth to save my soul. We can not be easily detoured from the path God has set in place for us. Listen to the truth Pastor preaches, for all you know it could be your last message…

  28. 2 Timothy 4:2
    preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

    I believe this verse is the essence of a good minister. We are instructed to preach the word in season and out of season. This literally means when it’s convenient and when it is not convenient. That really puts it in perspective. Correct, rebuke, and exhort with patience and teaching. Teaching requires more time than telling someone off or what they should do. Teaching implies time to make one understand. Teachers must relate to the student. We are to correct, rebuke, and encourage others with patience and guidance. This verse, while simple, is a good guideline for proper ministry.

  29. 16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.

    Now I’m thankful that I did this blog today, I wouldn’t have seen this before. Paul, on the day that forgiveness was spoken as a path to our harvest this chapter is on our blog.
    The third step to healing a wounded soul, ask God to not charge those that have wrong us. Wow thank you God for this timely word.

  30. Preach the Word !!!! 2. Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 1 Tim. 4 : 13 3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Acts 21 : 8 ; 2 Tim. 1 : 8 I PRAISE YOU JESUS !!!! I LIFT YOU UP JESUS !!!! YOU ARE VICTORIOUS !!!!

  31. 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

    3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

    We need to be able to explain the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even to the religious people. There is a lot of false doctrine in the world and we should know the truth and how to prove the truth in the word of God any time, any hour, any day, any circumstance, any situation. There is NO excuse for us not to.

  32. Reposting from Sunday as my comment wouldn’t save:
    3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

    4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

    5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

    Paul is preparing Timothy for the ministry. Some will receive the word, others will for a while, then turn from the truth to some other doctrine which is not doctrine at all. But regardless of what people do, Paul admonishes Timothy to endure. By remaining steadfast he will continue to minister to those the Lord sends his way and save many.
