Titus 1

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

  1. 2. In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

    No matter how many times you have been lied to in your life, or how many times you have been told you were hopeless, believe these two facts:
    1. God promised hope of eternal life
    2. God can not lie

    You have put your hope in people and have always been let down; now put your hope in God, He will never let you down!

  2. 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

    We are living in a day where people chose to live contrary to the word of the Lord.

    Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; -1 Timothy 4:1

    For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; -2 Timothy 4:3

    I thank God for sound doctrine and for those who love the word of God and preach it and teach it without fear or favor.

  3. 15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    Professing to know God will not be enough in that day we must be pure in our heart. We will be judged by our works. Have we been pure in our thinking and is our conscience defiled? We should be what God is looking for in his children, faithful and obedient to the word of God.
    Never deny or be disobedient to God!

  4. 3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

    4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

    You can see the trinity if you want to but either Paul has gone crazy here or he’s talking about the oneness of God. Notice in verse 3 he says ” God our saviour” then the very next verse he says ” Christ our saviour”. Now if you seperate Christ from God,
    One of them ceases to be the saviour.

    Isaiah 43:11
    11 I, [even] I, [am] the LORD; and beside me [there is] no saviour.

    After these kinds of statements you can put both Son and God the Father together but you cannot seperate them. Reason is if God the Gather sent his Son to die on the cross then God the father would not be the saviour, therefore making verse 3 a lie. But if they are one we can keep believing the WHOLE BIBLE.

  5. They profess that they know GOD, but in works they deny him…
    This brings to mind so many of my loved ones who claim to be Christian, raised in the FAITH, but they deny TRUTH. When I follow Christ and live as the Bible says this puts a bitter taste in their mouths and the walls of pride come up. Jesus, help them.

  6. Verses 1-2 MSG “I, Paul, am God’s slave and Christ’s agent for promoting the faith among God’s chosen people, getting out the accurate word on God and how to respond rightly to it. My aim is to raise hopes by pointing the way to life without end. This is the life God promised long ago—and he doesn’t break promises!”

    Same verses CEV “From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
    I encourage God’s own people to have more faith and to understand the truth about religion. Then they will have the hope of eternal life that God promised long ago. And God never tells a lie!” We, like Paul, must promote and encourage people to have MORE faith and understand TRUTH. God’s promises are for everyone and you have to learn to say “This promise (TRUTH) is MINE…..take IT, own IT and protect IT (keep your grip on TRUTH and do not let anyone deceive you from keeping a hold of IT). Not today devil, get your hands off…..JESUS today YOU will SAVE me!

    Titus 1:15-16
    (15) Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
    (16) They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    This scripture sums up whether we really know God or if we are imposters. Some profess God, but in works they deny him. We are not judged by how many spiritual gifts we have, but we are judged by our fruit. Obedience is one of the fruits we are judged by. Folks are watching our faithfulness to the man of God.

  8. Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. (‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭15‬ NLT)

    To be pure you have to want to be pure. You have to want the change in your life. We are yall born in to sin. But as we grow older we have to WANT to be pure and sinless. We have to live our lives as examples.

    Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good. (‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ NLT)

    You have to want it.

  9. All eyes are on you,

    I left you on the island of Crete so you could complete our work there and appoint elders in each town as I instructed you. An elder must live a blameless life. He must be faithful to his wife, and his children must be believers who don’t have a reputation for being wild or rebellious. An elder is a manager of God’s household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money. Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life. He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong. (‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭5-9‬ NLT)

    This is a lot to live up to, but, it can be accomplished. In some area we all have failed, by His grace we are still standing, and have not thrown in the towel and turn away from the gospel.
    The message of the gospel must be proclaimed in our city. We must get back up and do what we have been called to do.

  10. Titus 1:2
    In hope of eternal life which god that cannot lie promised before the world began

    god wants us to pray more and more so we can live a eternal life in the kingdom of god whe need to put god before any thing so we can talk to him so we can live forever in the kingdom AMEN

  11. 5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

    Titus was being reminded of his purpose. His father in the gospel or pastor was writing him to reaffirm the reason he was where he was. He was to put in order the things that were lacking or destitute and ordain elders in all the cities. Now that sounds like a fairly big job to me and I imagine it could have been overwhelming. But Titus had communication with his pastor that helped him to stay on track. Just as we at POFW can see that bishop foster did not just send pastor watts to Fort Worth to impact the city alone, Paul did not leave Titus to his job alone. Paul and titus kept their relationship and communication open that allowed for direction, guidance, and affirmation to be
    given. Reaching and impacting this city, and the world, is more than any one person can handle. We need each other to work together and remind us who we are and why we are doing this sometimes. Our spiritual authority is especially essential of a relationship to keep preserved.

  12. Walk = Talk

    Titus 1:16 (KJV Strong’s)
    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    A friend of mine likes to say talk is cheap.

    We can speak as much as we want that we will do such and such but until we do it those are just words.

    We must live our lives in integrity, and honesty keeping our word.

    Jesus is the word, and he is our example. He never goes back on his word and neither should we. A hypocrite is someone who acts one way but really they are another.

    They profess that the know him but in works, in what they do, and how they live they deny Jesus. Being idolatrous and impersuasible. So much that even the good works that they do become rejected and cast away.

    Our talk must match our walk, so our walk will match our talk.

  13. Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good. (‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ NLT)

    Our lifestyle has the potential to deny Him. I want my lifestyle to leave evidence that I am a Disciple of Christ.

    But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. (‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭33‬ NLT)

  14. 10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

    11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

    12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

    13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

    We must be leery of who we are around. I know I don’t want to become swayed by someone who is disobedient to the Lord and to their pastor.

  15. A CALL TO LEADERSHIP

    5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
    6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
    7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
    8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
    9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

    At The Pentecostals of Fort Worth, GOD has instructed and led us to form structure founded on expectation of Biblical principals. Out of this concept was birthed The POFW Discipleship Covenant, The POFW Leadership Covenant and The POFW Ministry Covenant. We find this principal repeated over and over with the apostle Paul expressing Leadership expectations for Elders, Deacons and Bishops.

    We practice the covenant relationship because we become what we are committed to. A covenant is stronger than an agreement. The LORD made covenant with Abraham and it involved a BLOOD sacrifice, JESUS made covenant with sinners and it involved a BLOOD sacrifice. The POFW covenants are not blood requirements, but something deeper, a personal will commitment or requirement.

    The WORD of GOD challenges us to receive and believe the principals for Spiritual living are based on a commitment from GOD to man and should be reciprocated as a commitment from a man to GOD. Church covenants or commitments are a this principal may be executed.

  16. 16 Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

    How sad is it to say one thing an do the complete opposite. To be disobedient and unhonest, it leaves you worthless.

  17. 13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

    I pray for a teachable spirit, for when I get corrected, I will take it to heart and fix what should be fixed.

  18. 12-14
    The Cretans were hardly an admirable race. But God has always been in the business of taking sinners and making them into saints.

  19. 15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    What a horrible place this must be. To be surrounded by unclean, unholy people and things. The last month has felt like I was lost in a desert place. However, it was so wonderful to see Gods beautiful people this weekend. The old saying of absence makes the heart grow fonder is an absolute truth. I have missed being around God’s people.

  20. 16 They say they know God, but their actions speak louder than their words. They’re real creeps, disobedient good-for-nothings. (MSG)

    16 Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good. (‭NLT)

    Actions speak louder than words! It tends to be quite obvious when an individual works and worships just for show. We need to insure that we keep a clear and pure mind so we may serve God in full and sincere obedience.

  21. To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. (‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭15-16‬ NKJV)

    Are you professing God in everything you do? I want to be known for my relationship with God, that when I walk out into the world people will see Jesus through me! In everything we do we must proclaim the name of Jesus, not just at church! Jesus I pray that you shine through me at all times!

  22. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. NIV

    We can profess all day we are a christian but if our fruits are baring something else we are a liar. The life we life will surely show the world what we are. Are we who we say we are? Do we say one thing and do another? If we are practicing sin then we are of the devil our father, if we are living a chrisitan life with signs following we are of Jesus our heavenly father. So what fruits are you baring today? Can someone tell who your father is today?

  23. 15To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.

    Purity consists not in any external worship, and that which is according to the old Law (as indifference of meats, and washings, and other such things which are abolished) but in the mind and conscience.Here “the defiled,” “the polluted,” are the unbelieving; and to these, the Apostle says, nothing is pure. Yet there is nothing in God’s creation impure or evil—the evil and impurity are in the mind and heart of men; these may, and often do, defile and make impure the gifts of God’s creation. Who are the pure to whom all things are pure? Only those in this world who have repented and sought cleansing in the blood of Jesus. Those who know Jesus, and Jesus knows them, and walk with Him everyday. Two cannot walk together and not agree on where they are going. We have to make a choice of what actions we will take in life and those will determine weither we deny Jesus or walk with Him. Purity starts in the mind. My minds made up, I’m sold out.

  24. To be a bishop, you must remain blameless…..not easily angered. Well might be awhile for me…..

    7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

    “Be blessed”…………………………………..,,,

  25. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    Action speak louder than words. Let our works be a testimony to those who do not know us or know Christ. Let our words may always be kind and our work be an example of His Grace and love.

  26. 15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    What an awesome word to Titus! This word is to all that say God only wants your heart. If your cloths denies you knowing God, if your attitude deny you professing to be a saint, if your words speak destruction and curse, rebellion and you delite going against good council, you are reprobate before the Lord (Def: a sinner who is not of the elect and is predestined to damnation.)
    Don’t be fooled in your mind to think God only wants your heart.

    A vessel with dirty water is a dirty vessel, a dirty vessel with clean water is still a dirty vessel.

  27. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled.
    16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

    People claim or say that they know God but they don’t do what he says and don’t live a godly life people are looking at the way you live for GOD.

  28. “To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.”
    (Titus 1:15–16 ESV)

    This is a issue we see a lot today. Many Christians are SMO (Sunday Morning Only). They are not disciples of Christ, and this is shown by their lifestyle. It stands written “But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
    (James 2:18 ESV)

    Let us not fall into this same vice. May we continue to pursue Christ and be conformed into his image.

  29. (TLB) Titus 1:9-11
    Their belief in the truth which they have been taught must be strong and steadfast, so that they will be able to teach it to others and show those who disagree with them where they are wrong.
    For there are many who refuse to obey; this is especially true among those who say that all Christians must obey the Jewish laws. But this is foolish talk; it blinds people to the truth, and it must be stopped. Already whole families have been turned away from the grace of God. Such teachers are only after your money.

    How true this is today. So many ministers are teaching false truths and only after people’s money, and because of it, many families have turned away from God. How sad.
    So THANKFUL for Pastor and other men of God who have held on strongly to the Truth of God’s Word (sound doctrine) as they were taught, and have shared the Truth of God’s Word with others, so that they will be saved and to others so that they might see the error of their ways.

    2 Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

  30. 7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
    8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
    9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

    Seeing Bishop Foster being bishoped was a great experience. Not knowing that there was more to it than I thought. A higher reverence to the man of God. As being apart of our growing church I have witnessed many great opportunities to see God work in many situations.

    More revival.
    More 440.
    More of Him.

  31. 15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure ; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. I pray that I am always pure. And always live a faith life.

  32. 15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    It is not wise to disobey God.😃

  33. 15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    Today that’s is a lot of televangelist and religions that preach and teach only prosperity and give only what people like to hear. They have watered down God truth to conform to the desires of man. They use this to fill their temples and pockets failing to realize that they are in disobedience and that all the earthly riches and material things will be left when God comes. For this reason we are Blessed to be at the right church and the right time, not only is the Word preached truly and purely but there is also true love for God, His Kingdom, for souls and for each other. Everyday there is a challenge for more and to be hungry for Him. MORE FOUR40! 🙂

  34. 9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

    Knowledge of the word is so important. We can instruct others about the word if we don’t know it. We can speak the word with authority and knowledge if we don’t know it and we can’t pray the creative word of God if we don’t know.

  35. Titus 1:2
    In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began

    God promise us Eternal life with him, but it is up to us to make sure we have eternal life with him.

    If only the Angels would preach!!!

  36. “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” Actions, or lack thereof speak louder than words, and the Creator (Jesus) knows ones heart. One is wise, to heed the word of God (Jesus), and man of God. One is unwise, to deny and be disobedient to the word of God (Judge), and man of God. Dear God, remove the scales from my eyes and unstop my ears; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  37. 10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

    11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

    We must not be afraid to stand up to false teachers and proclaim the true Word of God.

  38. Titus 1:10-16
    Directions concerning false teachers
    Rebuke the Vain Talkers

    1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

    James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

  39. 13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

    Amen rebuke sharply with the Word of God!!! Claiming in the name of Jesus because the devil trembles when we invoke the name of Jesus. Were able to see the supernatural because nothing is to hard for God 🙂 HALLELUJAH!!!

  40. Bishop !!!! 7. For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; 8. But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 1 Tim. 3 : 2 9. Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. I LOVE YOU JESUS !!!!

  41. 10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

    11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

    16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    Jesus help us. Some of the people that know the word the best are ones that also sow deception and confusion. We must pray that God would open up the understanding of those who are being deceived and that he would draw them to the truth.for there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing.

  42. 1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

    We are encouraged to have MORE FAITH and to follow the truth of God’s commands, he will bless you and give you peace. Seek him!

  43. 2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

    God for I’am your child I’ve come to you for I know, I will always trust in your mighty word that which is eternal life, for you are my god that ,I serve and worship and praise for eternity, for I know father that you’ll never lie to your children, for that father you’ve promised us before the world began as you made it .! In jesus Name !!!

    Numbers 12:6 he said, Listen to my words: When there is a prophet among you I , the lord reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams

    Numbers 12:6 he said, Listen to my words: When there is a prophet among you I , the lord reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams

  44. This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began. (‭Titus‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬ NLT)

    God does not lie! If He has promised you something, it’ll happen. It may not be in the time we think things should happen but in His time.. and that ladies and gentlemen is living by faith not by sight

  45. v16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

    LORD YOU have called us your children help us
    ) me ) to believe and live as your children should, and acknowledge YOU as the way, the truth, and the life.
    Have Faith In GOD !!!
    MORE FAITH

  46. 7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

    8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

    9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

    The qualities of a bishop must be above reproach. The bishop is able to teach, preach and be an example of sound doctrine, teaching others to reach this world. He surrounds himself with the right type of men and trains them to become extensions of himself! Thankful for our Bishop Tom Foster who is teaching and leading great men!

  47. 16) They profess that they know God, but in words they deny him, being abominable , and disobedient , and unto every good work reprobate.

    Actions speak louder than words. We can say we are a christian all we want ,but the question is, Do we act like it ? Do we show it?

  48. 7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

    8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
