Hebrews 2

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.

6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?

7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

  1. It’s obvious, of course, that he didn’t go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham. That’s why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭16-18‬ MSG)

  2. 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

    This is one of the greatest evangelical messages in the word of God!
    HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE? IF WE NEGLECT
    One of the greatest sins in the world is the sin of neglect. If we continue to follow the way of the world, neglect to follow the Lord, we will be lost.
    Salvation is here for us, but if we neglect to take advantage of it, we will be falling for that awful sin of neglect. Many times people get in trouble for neglecting to take care of things. If we neglect to pay the electric bill our lights will be cut off.
    Neglect will always be a destroyer of opportunity!

  3. Hebrews 2:16
    For verily he took not on him the nature of angels be he took on him the seed of Abraham.

    God wants us to nature and make it look pretty and take a seed and plant it so there is more nature that looks more beautiful .

    Hebrews 2:14
    (14) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; (15) And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

    These scriptures reveal to us the very love that God has towards us. Jesus, which is God robed in flesh, submitted himself unto the law of Moses and also to human government in order to redeem his people from the curse and fear of death. If Jesus who is God was required to submit, then I would say that submission is very vital to us in our everyday walk with the Lord, both to the laws of God and also to the laws of man.

  5. 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

    17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

    God tried so hard to get our attention. He delivered us, he took us to the promise land, and still men fail God; Si He did the ultimate sacrifice He came to Earth wrapped on flesh to show us by His work How to be just in this unjust world. We owe it to Him to work for our perfection through submission, following ALL HIS TEACHING and doing ALL and U mean ALL WE DO AHOULD BE DONE AS UNTO THE LORD!!! if your job is cleaning then Clean like JESUS Himself owns what you are cleaning. You are a cook then cook like JESUS is the One sitting at the table awaiting a banquet. HE GAVE US FORGIVENESS, LIFE EVERLASTING, AND THE ULTIMATE SIGN OF LOVE HE GAVE HIS LIFE SO WE CAN LIVE AND HAVE LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY!!! Praise the Lord for He is Good and His Goodness endureth FOREVER.

  6. What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone. God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭9-10‬ NLT)

  7. NO ESCAPE

    3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
    4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

    WARNING: Grave danger arises when we neglect the great salvation that JESUS has offered us. Salvation is eternal and must be treated with great respect. JESUS declared we MUST be “Born Again” of the water and of the spirit to enter into HIS Kingdom. This is our salvation message, we are saved from the eternal penalty of sin as we follow these specific instructions concerning salvation. If we neglect, disanul, dilute or ignore JESUS plan of salvation, there is NO ESACPE from the pending judgement on mankind for turning away from GOD.

    Save yourselves from the eternal judgement of GOD on this world by nurturing the great plan of salvation JESUS died for. Repent, be baptized in the name of JESUS and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  8. 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
    Jesus not only paid for our sin but he humbled himself and lowered himself so that he could know how it felt to be human. The bible says he was tempted in all points but without sin. He was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief he knows how it is to hurt and he loved is anyway. What a mighty God we serve!

  9. He Knows

    Hebrews 2:17-18 (KJV Strong’s)
    17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

    No matter what situations we find ourselves in we can rest assure that Jesus knows what we are going through. He is our high priest and knows what we feel, think, and how it affects us. Now only does he know it spiritually, but he also understands it from the point of view of a man.

    Hebrews 4:15 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
    15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.

    Since we know he knows how we feel we can follow his example of how to handle these things.

    Hebrews 4:16 (Amplified Bible – AMP)
    16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

  10. Accountability

    1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
    2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
    3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

    My grandfather used a saying all my life. “Where little is known little is expected; where much is known much is expected”. As I got older I realized it was biblical. As a boy, he would introduce me to new responsibilities and rewards for success in those areas. For example, I was taught to drive when I was 8. He taught me how to drive in the wide open hay pastures. He taught me how to maneuver through tight spaces, backing up, pulling and backing trailers; all the necessities of driving in the country. The reward for this responsibility was the privilege to drive anywhere I wanted to in Goatneck; alone! This philosophy has never left me.

    We as saints of the POFW have a massive responsibility to share the word that we consume on a weekly basis. As the first verse states, “we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard”. We can do it! There is a hungry world waiting for the good news of Jesus!

  11. 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

    How important it is for us to get the principles and doctrine of what we believe into our heart. It is so easy when someone says something for us to just agree, but if we have God’s Word we will know and our spirit will bear witness that truth has been spoken.

  12. It’s not only our duty to live for Christ but to bring people to Him so that they may live and worship Him as well!

  13. NLT of Hebrews 2:14-18
    Because God’s children are human beings – made of flesh and blood – the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
    We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham. Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.

    What a MERCIFULand FAITHFUL God we serve!
    He loves us so much that he became flesh and dwelt among us. He became flesh, so that, he could die and break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. (vs. 9 – He tasted death for every man.) Now we can have an eternal hope of a better life. Also, he became flesh so that he could become a sacrifice and take away the sins of the people. Also, he became flesh and went through suffering and testing, so that, he could help us when we go through suffering and testing in our own lives.

    Thank You JESUS for everything! I am so Thankful. May I always take heed to the things I have heard and been taught, and share this Great Gospel and Great Salvation with others.

  14. Because Gods children are human beings made of flesh and blood the son also came flesh and blood. For only a human being could he die and only by dying could he break the power of the devil who had the power over death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived there lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

  15. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

    Even Jesus knows what it is to be tempted. That shows me that the devil has no respect for anybody, meaning it doesn’t matter how many positions you have or how higher ranked you might be in God’s kingdom, the devil will go after anybody including us. Since Jesus went through it he can help us go through it and defeat him every time. We must be ready with the word in our heart and mind.

  16. 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

    It is easy to forget why boundaries are set in the first place, but they are there to protect us not keep us from something good. Letting down on the standards of living set forth in the Bible only brings us misery.

  17. 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

    I put all my trust in Jesus, my family and me! Even my children know that there is a God whose name is Jesus and that the only way you are able to get saved is by repenting, getting baptized in Jesus Name, and receiving the Holy Ghost! Many might think that receiving the Holy Ghost one time is enough but no we must get refilled daily! Thank you Jesus for your guidance 🙂

  18. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
    18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

    The word succour comes from the middle English. Middle English: via Old French from medieval Latin succursus, from Latin succurrere ‘run to the help of,’ from sub- ‘from below’ + currere ‘run.’

    From below to run.
    Howany times have we felt that when we are in our “down” times that we feel as though we are being pushed. Up. This is true because it would be Jesus pushing from below. How you might ask? Well as I have read. The only person that truly went to hell was Jesus. That is the lowest of the low. So he truly can push from ‘below’ and if he is pushing that means he is moving ‘running.’ So he can surrour us from our temptations because he is pushing us over those obsticals. Thank you Jesus for all that you have done. And winning.

    More Jesus
    More revival
    More of him.

  19. Angels with dropping jaws

    Can you imagine the Angels reaction? Jesus Christ, God Almighty, clothed in flesh in a position lower than Angels. How they must have thought about that? Then to top it off, Jesus does for us he endured the unthinkable…became sin so that we could be redeemed. How speechless house who reject him will be at judgement. Let’s reach the city. May a spirit of boldness be upon us as we witness for Christ.

  20. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

    A ministry of example. Just like a great leader, Jesus will not ask us to do something he hasn’t already experienced/done. He is able to help us because he has gone through it and has come out an overcomer. Sometimes we wonder why things happen to us, or why all this trouble and pain? Well the answer might just be that the Lord, through what we went through, can use us to help others. Our in process testimony can one day help, minister to, and encourage others. We can’t help some one in something we haven’t been through.

  21. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭18‬ NLT)

    God manifested himself in flesh to understand the many tests and trials we face as humans.
    It is only through God that I have had victory over everything that has come it me throughout my life and I am so beyond grateful that He has been there every step of the way (even when I didn’t want Him to be).

  22. 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. One that knows the truth and is filled with the Holy Ghost, is indebted. One will answer to the Judge (Jesus), for what one has done, and for what one has not done. Thank God (Jesus) for a man of God with a vision of more, and not of less. Dear God, help me to see self as you do, while I still have breath; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

    Daily we are loosing the ability to call this nation a God fearing nation. People every day are fighting to change what their bible reads so that they can ” live” by what the ” bible” says, even though it’s not what it says, but rather what itchy ears are wanting to hear. If we don’t listen to what the word is telling us, we might also believe a lie…

  24. More Humility

    Hebrews 2:9, 14 AMP
    9 But we are able to see Jesus, Who was ranked lower than the angels for a little while, crowned with glory and honor because of His having suffered death, in order that by the grace unmerited favor of God to us sinners He might experience death for every individual person.

    14 Since, therefore, these His children share in flesh and blood in the physical nature of human beings, He Himself in a similar manner partook of the same nature, that by going through death He might bring to nought and make of no effect him who had the power of death—that is, the devil

    John 13:16
    Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

    Jesus humbled Himself to experience our weakness and death. He even made Himself lower than the angels, who are servants, ministering spirits. He brought Himself low so that He could be everything we needed and truly know our pain and wants and needs. We as His children must follow His example of humility and servant leadership and lead others past us to Him.

  25. You Don’t get what you deserve

    2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

    3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

    Thank God he has a plan that reached and still reaches those of us who need an escape. I Thank God we don’t get what we deserve!

  26. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

    18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

    What a comfort to know that we have a Savior and God who decided to become like us, to experience what we experience so that he would be merciful and able to help us in times of temptation!

  27. 6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?

    7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:

    8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.

    Hallelujah God has given us great Power and dominion, and four what? We could never deserve it but that’s just how good he is.that’s just how much he lives us that we would always be on his mind

  28. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭16-18‬ ESV)
    I am so thankful that we serve an amazing God who is so merciful! Glory be to God!

  29. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ KJV)

    Again we have faith. Again he increases my measure. Again I will listen and follow.

  30. Verse 1 NLT “So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.” Same verse MSG “It’s crucial that we keep a firm grip on what we’ve heard so that we don’t drift off.” Listening and keeping a firm grip on Jesus will keep us from drifting away. We must pray for one another that no one falls prey to the enemy.

  31. Things we have heard !!!! 1. THEREFORE we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; Num. 15 : 30 3. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4. God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Ho’-ly Ghost, according to his own will? Mark 16 : 20 You are Holy Jesus !!!! I honor you Jesus !!!!
