Hebrews 7

1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:

21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

  1. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
    27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
    28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore
    JESUS Christ no ordinary High Priest!!! He had no need to sacrifice anything but Himself for He had no sins to be cleanse; so He took upon Himself ALL our iniquities, ALL our filthy rags, ALL our horrible sins upon Himself and offer Himself as a living sacrifice without blemish, spotless for you and I to have life and life ever after. What a love He displayed, the kind of Live that knows no boundaries, for He loved us when we were unlovable!!!!!!

  2. 24. But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

    25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

    He lives forever! Therefore, there will never be another changing of the priesthood and He will always be there to make intercession for us.

    Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV
    14. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

    15. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

    16. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  3. 14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

    15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

    16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

    The fact that the Lord sprang out of the tribe Judah is evident her. This was out of rule of the law, all priest came out of the tribe of Levi. Jesus was not just another priest, but the one after the order of Melchisedec. Jesus linage is clear he was born of a virgin, which by way of carnal man is impossible. The Lord God of heaven can do anything, Mary was overshadowed by the Holy Ghost and the child that she bore was the son of God. Jesus came out of order of the carnal commandment and became our sacrifice for sin. Jesus paid a debt we could not pay with his precious blood, not just any blood, the blood that came from the lineage of heaven from the God of glory. The blood comes from the father of the child, which was the Holy Ghost. The power is in the blood!!!!

  4. For the law never made anything perfect. But now we have confidence in a better hope, through which we draw near to God. This new system was established with a solemn oath. Aaron’s descendants became priests without such an oath, but there was an oath regarding Jesus. For God said to him, “The LORD has taken an oath and will not break his vow: ‘You are a priest forever.’” Because of this oath, Jesus is the one who guarantees this better covenant with God. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭7‬:‭19-22‬ NLT)

  5. 4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
    The chapter first starts by describing who Melchizedek was and how great of a priest he was. He was so great, he was described greater than Abraham! Abraham being a great friend of God was less than this priest. But this priest is in no comparism to Jesus because “Such a high priest meets our need – one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins and then for the sins of other people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself” ( Hebrews 7:26-27)

  6. Jesus is a tithe paying priesthood

    Hebrews 7:4-5 (New Living Translation – NLT)
    4 Consider then how great this Melchizedek was. Even Abraham, the great patriarch of Israel, recognized this by giving him a tenth of what he had taken in battle. 5 Now the law of Moses required that the priests, who are descendants of Levi, must collect a tithe from the rest of the people of Israel, who are also descendants of Abraham.

    Hebrews 7:9 (New Living Translation – NLT)
    9 In addition, we might even say that these Levites—the ones who collect the tithe—paid a tithe to Melchizedek when their ancestor Abraham paid a tithe to him.

    Hebrews 7:17 (KJV Strong’s)
    17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

    We give the tithe to God in the New Testament because Jesus is our high priest after the order of Melchizedek.

    We don’t know much about this priest except that he blessed Abraham when he paid his tithe.

    We get to pay the tithe to the Lord and as a result we become recipients of a blessing from God!

    (KJV Strong’s) Gen 14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

    When we tithe we receive two blessings. One we will possess heaven and earth. I believe this means God grants us authority, power, and influence both in the natural and spiritual realms.

    Second he received a blessing related to a deliverance from his enemies. When we tithe it gets the devil out of our pocket book. The enemy can’t curse a tithe payer’s cash flow.

    Jesus is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. The only thing we know of this priest is blessings and tithing. Jesus is a tithe paying priesthood.

  7. Hebrews 7:16
    Who is made not after the law of a carnal commandment but after the power of an endless life .

    god has power and the law but he can give us power if we obey his law with it and he is the only one that can give us endless life but god wants more faith more peace and more revival AMEN.

  8. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

    Jesus saves us to the uttermost. He doesn’t just save us a little bit but he cleans the very depths of us. Thank God we have a means to be saved!

  9. Hebrews 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

    Wow! That should be enough for my problems today!
    But there’s more. Paul tells us how God can do all this. He does ir “according to his power that is at work within us.” That power is resurrection power- —-the power that raised Jesus from the dead, the power of Jesus’ “indestructible life” (Hebrews 7:16)!

  10. HALELUJAH!!!
    19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

    JESUS, our beautiful, perfect and better hope!!!
    BLESSED indeed!!!
    The Bakers =D

  11. Heh 7:28 For the law maketh man high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated forever more.
    the teachings of Moses made man, with all their weaknesses, high priests; but the promise of God, which was since the law, made the Son, Jesus Christ, perfect in His Holiness the high priest forevermore. Hallelujah Hallelujah praise God!

  12. trust and obey, no other way to be happy in Jesus, old sunday school song, ah the simplicity of a child but soooooo good for adults

  13. 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

    Jesus is forever our high priest and perfect in every way, he’s without sin. He can save us, trust in him. It is impossible to please God without faith. Give God the honor and praise for all his good works in advance.

    As I was reading the blog this morning, my mind started thinking about the Catholic Church. What the Catholic Church has tried to do, is they have tried to put themselves into the Levitical priesthood. If you Google the Catholic Church in the priesthood, you will see the traditions that they have done. They walk around with a golden box with incense in it and a swing it around. They really think that they have entered into the Levitical priesthood. According to the Scriptures in Hebrews, even if they entered into the Levitical priesthood (which they haven’t), they have been truly deceived. According to verse number 12, the priesthood has been changed. It changed from the priesthood of the Levites to the priesthood of Judah. Jesus said I didn’t come to change the law, but to fulfill it. Whenever the law was fulfilled with the sacrifice of Jesus, the priesthood was changed after the order of Melchisedec. This is a wonderful blog today, and it could be used to help Catholics overcome the religion that has them bound to their man made religion.

  15. Jesus priesthood is forever and thus rest on a better covenant it is permanentfor Jesus lives and thus can save us completely. And it meets our every need for by the one sacrifice of himself this High Priest settled forever the issue of our sins.

  16. who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭7‬:‭16‬ NKJV)

    We are here in the flesh but we are not of it. We cannot live a fleshly life, but live a life worshipping and following God! We cannot bow down to our flesh, but rather live a life for God, where we do whatever it takes to make it to etenal life with God!

  17. AMP of Heb. 7:25 – 27
    Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervence for them.
    (Here is) the High Priest (perfectly adapted) to our needs, as was fitting – holy, blameless, unstained by sin, separated from sinners, and exalted higher than the heavens.
    He has no day by day necessity, as (do each of these other) high priests, to offer sacrifice first of all for his own ( personal) sins and then for those the people, because He (met all the requirements) once for all when He brought Himself (as a sacrifice) which He offered up.

    Thank You JESUS that You are the Great High Priest. Thank You JESUS that You were a Perfect Sacrifice. Thank You JESUS that You Interceded on our behalf. Because He was a Perfect Sacrifice (holy, blameless, unstained by sin, seperated from sinners), He was able to intercede and is able to save us to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity).

    JESUS Today You Will Save Me!

  18. MORE JESUS

    24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
    25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
    26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

    JESUS our savior is incomparable; no one nor nothing can compare to HIS great LOVE to and for us. Understanding the priesthood, is key to receiving the true LOVE of JESUS.

    JESUS made intercession for us or took our penalty for sin when he gave his life on the CROSS. He became sin for man to intercede on behalf of the judgement coming to us. In turn hoping that we would give our lives to HIM and follow his will by HIS Spirit.

    JESUS is to be trusted and upheld by the church as the High Priest of eternity. Able to SAVE anyone that will hear his voice, receive his word and obey his commands.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  19. NIV – 20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, 21 but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:

    “The Lord has sworn
    and will not change his mind:
    ‘You are a priest forever.’”[b]
    22 Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.

    23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely[c] those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

    26 Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

    We can truly be thankful for the heritage of Jesus Christ – the priest that lives forever and changes not! We have been given the opportunity of everlasting life because of His unselfishness to fulfill His purpose, to redeem those who had sinned and draw them unto Himself. Let’s evaluate our lives and see if our deeds are showing that thankfulness. No, deeds does not get us into Heaven, but our actions reveal our true identity. If actions don’t reveal we are Christlike, we need to change identities.

  20. 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
    25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
    26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

    There’s no God like my God!

  21. Better Testament !!!! 22. By so much was Je’-sus made a surety of a better testament. I exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his foot stool; for he is holy. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

  22. Praise the Lord that we have a High Priest that he offered himself s a perfect sacrifice for our sins so that we have that hope for eternal salvation if we but believe on him and follow his commandments.

  23. 6This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater.

    In John 3:30 John says of Jesus “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Abraham was chosen and blessed with promises of God. He understood who Melchisedec was: “king of Salem, priest of the most high God” (vs1). Submitting to authority he gave a tenth of the spoils to him as tithe. I believe it was because Abraham knew God and was like a friend that he could recognize who he was. He was a type of Jesus Christ. “first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” (vs2-3). Jesus came that the law may be fullfilled through Him in death and resurrection, “when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.” (vs12). Jesus is our high priest and we have the privillege of a submiting to Him and his authority as Abraham did.

  24. Unlike those other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day. They did this for their own sins first and then for the sins of the people. But Jesus did this once for all when he offered himself as the sacrifice for the people’s sins. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭7‬:‭27‬ NLT)

    How great and might is our God. He robed himself in flesh and become our ultimate sacrifice to conquer sin. I truly cherish the Old Rugged Cross.

  25. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

    26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

    27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

    Jesus said that he came to fulfill the law and that he did. That same law gives hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless and salvation to the sinner. Thank you Jesus for that law.

  26. 7 And without a question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed. NLT

    God is bigger than the sin that you committed!!😌

  27. 23-25 Earlier there were a lot of priests, for they died and had to be replaced. But Jesus’ priesthood is permanent. He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them.
    We are never alone God is always right there with us. The Everlasting Father is always with us and he knows the path your taking and he will always show you the way!

  28. Tithe’s; then and now

    6 But Melchizedek who does not share their ancestry collected a tithe from Abraham and blessed the one who possessed the promise. 7 Now without dispute the inferior is blessed by the superior,

    Abraham tithed to Melchizedek before the Law commanded tithes. Tyndale’s Commentary states:

    “It is worth noting that the perfect tense is used for Melchizedek’s receiving of tithes (dedekatōken) which draws attention, not only to the historic event, but also to its abiding significance. The writer is, as it were, transporting the event to the readers’ own time to show the continuance of this order of priesthood. It continues in its perfect fulfilment in Christ.”

    Many will arguing tithing is not a New Testament practice. Well, even if we erroneously disregard much of the Old Testament, this passage illustrates the wisdom in tithing.

    I will gladly return my tithes to God.

  29. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

    We must make intercession for the lost. Plan and simple.

    More revival.
    More souls
    More 440

  30. Jesus still today is interceding for us daily, and still saves. We are made higher than the heavens! “WOW”…….”That’s what we became”…”Better Promises”….

    25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

    26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

    “We are so blessed, thank you Lord Jesus”……………………………………….

  31. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

    The law or trying to follow the law does not bring us closer to God, but our hope and faith in him draws us closer to him. We must never lose hope, for we lose hope, we are drawn away from God and we fall away from our path.

    We need to keep hope in the things of God and believe in his word, when we do, we will be closer to him and he will strengthen us in our faith and walk with him

  32. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

    If we were still under the law we wouldn’t have a chance to enter into the kingdom of God, but thanks to His mercy and grace we have the hope and opportunity to see Him. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice. MORE JESUS!

  33. American King James Version
    16 who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

  34. After reading this chapter over and over again trying to figure out who Melchizedek is I have found nothing definate exempt that he is like Jesus and Jesus like him. I believe God robed himself in flesh and came in order of the High Priest. He is a God of order. Jesus himself was teaching us here that your life’s work and legacy is determined on who or what you fashion yourself after. Let us be so wise to fashion ourselves after the one true High Priest Jesus Christ.

  35. “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.” There were sacrifices required for sin under the law that are no longer required, because of Jesus (God) sacrifice of self for our sins. Albeit while one no longer has to offer sacrifice because God (Jesus) paid the price for sin, one still is required to giveth the tithe as did Abraham; “even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth”. Dear God, let me always be mindful and thankful for your sacrifice for me, and let me willingly give like Abraham; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  36. Power of intercession

    Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (‭Hebrews‬ ‭7‬:‭25‬ KJV)

    Why are the people saved? Because he lives to make intercession for them. We must intercede for those whom we love that need to be saved. How many can we pluck from the fore without intercession?

    We may never know how many people will be plucked from the Fire

  37. Hebrews 7:26-28 Here is the High Priest perfectly adapted to our needs, as was fitting—holy, blameless, unstained by sin, separated from sinners, and exalted higher than the heavens. He has no day by day necessity, as do each of these other high priests, to offer sacrifice first of all for his own personal sins and then for those of the people, because He met all the requirements once for all when He brought Himself as a sacrifice which He offered up. For the Law sets up men in their weakness frail, sinful, dying human beings as high priests, but the word of God’s oath, which was spoken later after the institution of the Law, chooses and appoints as priest One Whose appointment is complete and permanent, a Son Who has been made perfect forever.

    We are bought with the blood of royalty, our High Priest. He is perfect in always. Holy and Righteous is our Lord Jesus. He paid the price for us. We are bought into the linage of royalty. We should keep this in mind and know that we represent Him.

    God paid the ultimate price for us all. He laid His life down willingly at the cross because He loves us with an everlasting love. And by this notion He proclaims it for ALL to know. What have you done to proclaim your love for God? Does everyone know how you truly feel about the one who shed His blood for your sins? Do more than just talk about it, show it…. You never know whose watching

  39. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

    God I come to you father for that Iam very thankful for every blessing you put in my life God, for I will rejoice therefore that ,I have confidence in you jesus in all things, I believe that every prayer I think of before I speak of you’ve answered them from the bottom of my heart,I believe jesus for without all refutation the less is blessed of the better. In Jesus Name Amen !!!

    2 Corinthians 7:16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence in you in all things.

    2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

  40. 24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

    25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

    26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

  41. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

    We have a better hope, Jesus Christ, that has perfected us through Himself, being the immaculate, perfect, sacrifice for our sins. Redeeming us, and forgiving us through His scarlet blood making us blameless before God.

    I can say that, that is HOPE. Our blessed HOPE. Christ, what drew us nigh unto God.

    More Hope is More 440

  42. 7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

    8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

    Verse 7 is true throughout the entire word of God. Mankind, the less, is blessed by the great Almighty God. Paying tithes is our duty as laid out in scripture, offerings is where we are blessed.
