James 5

1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

4 Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

  1. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

Isa_53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus not only gave us the opportunity to obtain salvation for life eternal, but the opportunity to live a healthier life before eternity.

    James 5:14-16 NLT
    (14) Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.
    (15) Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
    (16) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

These scriptures that are written are very powerful ones indeed. They speak to me the very promises of the Word. They are promising me the promise land in the midst of the enemy’s great lies and strongholds of unbelief. Are we going to believe the Lord’s report or are we going to rationalize away our miracle.

  3. 17. Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!

    18. Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

Elijah was just as human as we are, the difference is the faith he had when he prayed. He knew he couldn’t physically stop the rain, but that he was praying to God, who could stop it. When we realize that we can’t do the work ourselves, but have full confidence that He can and will answer our prayers, we will see the results.

  4. MORE PRAYER

Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. (‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭15-16‬ NLT)

    We need to
We need to come together and pray over each other. We need each other’s back. When we’re in unity nothing can defeat us.

Prayer is the power of a Christian.

  5. James 5:15
and the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the lord shall raise him up and if he have committed sins they shall be forgiven him.

we have to help the sick and we need to raise jesus up every day and we must for give and forget and we have to have more faith more prayer and more revival. AMEN

  6. 9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

It is important we remember that we must forgive one another and not hold grudges against your brother and sister in Christ and also to your neighbors. Because if we stand before without forgiveness in our lives to any person, God will judge us for that, we want to be clean in his sight, and he won’t forgive if we cna’t do that same to others.

Matthew 7:1-2 Judge not that you not be judged. For with judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

  7. Prayers effectiveness
The prayer of a person in right relationship with God is truly powerful. Elijah whose weakness are not covered over in the O.T. was effective in prayer because he was righteous and because he prayed earnestly.

  8. 19 My dear brothers and sisters, if someone among you wanders away from the truth and is brought back, 20 you can be sure that whoever brings the sinner back from wandering will save that person from death and bring about the forgiveness of many sins. (NLT)

We are today’s Superheros, God’s love and Spirit working through us to reach the lost. We must reach the lost.

  9. The Prayer of FAITH!!

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. (‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭14-15‬ KJV)

About two weeks ago, Bro. Ward prayed over me and that night The Lord healed me!!!! And I just can’t keep quiet about it!!! I would be in constant pain in the day and at night as I slept, I would hear myself groaning because of it.

But The Lord heard our prayer as we agreed in faith, and he decided to heal me!! And I am so thankful!!

  10. 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Prayer, the most vital ingredient in living for God. We as children must learn to and how to pray, the word teaches us how important prayer is in our lives. The prayer of faith can move things out of our way and bringing healing at the same time.
Prayers are not just said they are prayed, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man can avail much. We see such results in Elijah, a man just like us, but he prayed with passion. Elijah did more than say a prayer he prayed a prayer. If we as children of God could learn to pray fervent prayers as righteous people we could see results of fire.

  11. THE TRAGEDY OF A WOUNDED SPIRIT

9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

A grudge is painful, but it is seldom painful towards the individual in whom it was intended. A grudge harms the individual who harbors unforgiveness much longer and deeper than the individual towards whom the grudge is held.

Grudge – to dislike or feel angry toward (someone) for something

Some things occur intentional and some occur unintentional. The BIBLE clearly identifies that holding a grudge is condemning and that judgement will surely come.

Choose the way of JESUS our LORD today and FORGIVE debtors their trespasses and release others of their intentional or unintentional offenses.

    iRepent
    iForgive
    iPraise
    iPray

  12. MSG of James 5:19-20
My dear friends, if you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off. Go after them. Get them back and you will have rescued precious lives from destruction and prevented an epidemic of wandering from God.

During Saturday night prayer service, I really like how there are names on chairs, and we go around praying for those people and others who have not been in church for a long time. It’s time to pray and interceed for the backsliders and go after them and bring them home. It’s time to save the bablies!

  13. 19-20 My dear friends, if you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off. Go after them. Get them back and you will have rescued precious lives from destruction and prevented an epidemic of wandering away from God. (MSG)

We must keep an eye out for one another, as Bro. Henderson said last night, it’s obvious when one has lost their passion. We should go after those who have lost their passion, to souls we can see are headed for destruction. It’s so crucial for us to keep watch and pray for one another because just as easy as one can spark a spiritual fire of the Holy Ghost, one soul deciding to walk away can lead way to a “monkey see, monkey do” situation where others follow suit. Just like on Saturday prayer when those names are on those chairs, those are individuals who have lost a passion and some who have completely turned their backs to God. How tragic and horrible would it be for us to label them a lost cause, because they are not! They need our prayers, they need us to be passionate and strong enough to intercede for their souls. Be righteous examples, be prayer warriors, for the sake of the lost and their eternities, for the glory and kingdom of God.

  14. 17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.

18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

    19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

If one man can pray earnestly and passionately, and the rain stop, imagine what would happen if us the church would come together and pray earnestly with MORE passion. If we want to reach the lost, and the broken we have to have passion in our prayer, ordinary prayer won’t get us where we need to be in our walk with God! We need MORE passion!!

  15. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

I will wait upon my beloved to return for me. I await the moment when I will be in front of my Savior to Praise Him for ever. For my Beloved loves me and I love HIM.

  16. It’s up to us, Gods children to reach those who aren’t plugged in anymore. We should be the physical hand to reach for them and let them know that there is peace and a shoulder to lean on.

  17. 7 Meanwhile, friends, wait patiently for the Master’s Arrival. You see farmers do this all the time, waiting for their valuable crops to mature, patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work.

8 Be patient like that. Stay steady and strong. The Master could arrive at any time.

9 Friends, don’t complain about each other. A far greater complaint could be lodged against you, you know. The Judge is standing just around the corner. MSG

As it is stated in v. 8 the Lord is coming back and we don’t know the time or day of his return. It isn’t time to play church its time to be the church. We had awesome Holy Ghost move of God last night, let’s not loose it..We gotta keep going! Our Lord is going to return to this earth again, and I want to be ready to meet him in the skies when he comes.

  18. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
We ought to confess our faults to people that we know will get alone with God andka intercede for you. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avIaileth much

  19. 8You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

We can’t hurry God, all things go through him. We all may want to finish the good race quickly but God has plans for each of Us. We still have a responsibility of reaching the lost.

  20. 13-15 Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing. Are you sick? Call the church leaders together to pray and anoint you with oil in the name of the Master. Believing-prayer will heal you, and Jesus will put you on your feet. And if you’ve sinned, you’ll be forgiven—healed inside and out.

Can it be this simple? Yes it can. Through the faith as of a child it can be this simple. Some say children are taught how to lie and deceive. I do not believe that “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” However, a child’s faith is pure until they have been lied to and learned the disappointment from those lies.

Mark 10: 13-16 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

  21. James 5:13 is anyone among you in trouble? Let thempray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone amount you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

  22. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Amen! Keep your lamp lit and be prepared for the coming of The Lord is near. Wether ppl want to believe it or not Jesus is coming back for his ppl…meanwhile prepare yourselves because nothing in this world is better than Jesus!!! Jesus is the answer to all our problems that we may be going through. Don’t dismay…God wants us near to him because He loves us!!!!!

  23. 9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Forgive and realse you will be judged

  24. 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

You need to have faith in God that he is going to heal you!!😌

  25. 13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

Prayer is powerful in every aspect of our lives!!!

  26. 19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;

20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

This is what outreach is about saving those that are lost in this world. Saving people from the carnality and what the ruler of this world is offering and even has them bound in sin. When a soul is saved we help save there life from dieing in their own sin and stop that cycle which was started. MORE FOUR40

  27. 11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

As we read. I saw the word pitiful. So I looked it up. Because as most of us would think pitiful is a demoralizing word. We use it to descibe bad situations or sorrowful people. Yet this not the case. It also means compassionate. Our Lord is compassionate. He is loving.

    More revival

    More 440

    More fire.

  28. James 5:16 (KJV Strong’s)
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Confession and prayer is related. When we confess our faults we express humility. Our humility is tied to our strength. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Grace is the empowerment to do his will.

We must be open and honest with one another. When we pray for others God takes care of our needs. It doesn’t say that we pray for others for them to be healed but that we may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

When we pray for others our prayers reach to more than just them and their need.

  29. Wait for Jesus return, holdfast and it shall rain again. Keep that heart, his return is soon….

    “Holdfast”………….

  30. 12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

In the generations before us men would make business deals and long term commitments with a simple shaking of hands. Everyone involved knew that these men were good for their word. Today the handshake has changed identities from the once binding contract and signature of a mans trust to now just a simple jesters of hospitality. My dad used to say that a contract is only as good as the man who wrote it. Let us take a step back in time a regain that sureness in one another, that trust that somehow was lost over time. We need to be able to trust each other to be in true unity. Without that definate knowledge of one another’s character we will fall apart in a real battle. Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay.

  31. James encourages believes to pray for the sick (vs14). “Sick” here has the connotation of being feeble in the sense of the word. James is not speaking only about those sick in body but also those frail in mind and spirit. He then makes a bold statement: “The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well” (vs15). Is James saying that healing is gauranteed? Yes, the healing James is speaks of is gauranteed, for the term he uses for healing means “made whole and forgiven.” Spiritual healing is the ultimate result of a “prayer offered in faith.” While God does sometimes choose to heal physically also, spiritual wholeness is the highest desire. Jesus came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10) “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32).

  32. Let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; !!!! 12. But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation. Matt. 5 : 34 13. Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Eph. 5 : 19 14. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. JESUS is quick to forgive if you repent !!!! Ask for forgiveness !!!!

  33. Motheaten Garments

2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

So I looked up moth and how to stop them from eating clothes. I found out the best defense is cleaning. I also found out that it is not the adult moth that eats the garments it is the larva. So how do we use this spiritually? we are to be clothed with the garments of righteousness and praise. We must keep these garments clean and free from sin and character flaws. We must also understand that it is not the big things that slowly eat away our garments but it is the babies they leave behind.

Let us also take into consideration that they use cedar to kill moths because red cedar contains a natural oil that kills the mothers larvae. How many know that the “red” blood of Jesus is the best known for covering our sins? How many also know that it is the anointing that destroys the yoke?

If you ever find yourself in the position that the enemy is eating your garments apply His blood and watch the anointing destroy the yoke of sin. Unlike red cedar and our natural garments the blood of Jesus will not just stop the process but it will also rebuild what was lost.

    Somebody shout Amen!

  34. Prayer is still needed. It’s not time to stop praying. It’s time to start praying more. So many different things going on in this world today and only being in tune with Jesus is what is going to save us from this evil generation. We cannot expect God to bless when we’re not living right. We must continue to abide by his word daily.

  35. “But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.” One should be mindful of one’s words, for the Judge (Jesus) knows the truth. Dear God, let truth prevail; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  36. James 5:17-18 Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years! Then, when he prayed again, the sky sent down rain and the earth began to yield its crops.

The power of prayer. Here we are given a great example of a man of God, that was just as you and me, human… What then stops us from praying great things? The question then becomes; will we pray? The Lord will hear and answer prayers. Some will be yes other will be no, some not at this time. He is waiting for us to approach Him and talk to Him.

  37. Pray through trouble

James 5:13    Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. (NIV)

The literal Greek translation for trouble is to suffer hardship. We are to pray when we are experiencing hardship/difficulty in life. Whatever trouble we have in our lives can be corrected through prayer.

What kind of prayer is needed? Verse 16 says “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” that is a righteous person’s prayer is powerful in working.

  38. Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment. (‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬ NLT)

The things of this world will fade away so don’t let them be your treasures. Because they won’t only fade away but they will corrode your heart. Our treasure should be having God in our lives and treasuring our loved ones and bring everyone we know to God.

You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near. Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door! (‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭8-9‬ NLT)

We need to be patient and have courage. One thing most of us forget is that we shouldn’t worry because if we are right with God and obeying His word and following Him and the man of God, then all things will fall accordingly. We have the victory on Gods side. We just need to realize that and remember the first time of receiving the Holy Ghost was a blessing for all of us and we should have that fire each time we come to God. So let’s be patient and continue to add to the fire we have and let’s do the great works of God!

    MORE FIRE!!!!

  39. 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

We have seen people with faith, and people with very very very little faith and they get healed. Although it is not specified in this verse, we know that every man was felt a measure of faith, so we cannot say someone is faithless, but I just wander if the person praying might have the faith that activates the prayer of faith that heals….

  40. The Power Of The Prayer

Lord Jesus christ, I come to you tonite for you are holy lord above all others and all of the strength that,I need is in your hands father. For Iam not asking Lord Jesus christ that you take this trial away. Instead I simply ask that your will be done in my life.
whatever that means, that is what I want.
But I admit lord Jesus Christ that it’s hard to do things without you in my life for that I need you God in me forever and ever, sometimes,I feel like a cant go on, the pain and the fear are too much for me, and I know that I don’t have strength in me to go through on my own I need you Jesus, I give myself to you forever and ever lord Jesus christ!!!!

Thank You Lord Jesus Christ for listening to my prayers !!!!!

2 Corinthians 7:16 I rejoice therefore that I have confidence

Psalm 39:1 I said, I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the the presence of the wicked.

  41. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. (‭James‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ KJV)

Patients is hard. We are to wait for promises of God. We are to wait upon the Lord. The reason waiting is difficult is because we are self centered. When we wait it put someone or something else first. Like the gardener who waits for their crops we must wait on God’s promises.

  42. Verses 10-11 MSG “Take the old prophets as your mentors. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You’ve heard, of course, of Job’s staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.” We must stay the course and do not let anyone tell you that God doesn’t care about or still love you, because He does…..right down to the last detail. Thank you Lord for loving me!

  43. Money is not evil, but the “love” of money is. When we gather to ourselves rather than being fair with the blessings of the Lord and giving those rightly what we owe them, or giving back to God from the abundance He has given us,then we fall into the category read in today’s chapter:

5 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.[a] 6 You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

God, let our hearts be right and our attitude and spirit right so that we be good stewards of what You have blessed.

  44. 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

This makes me think of scripture that tells us he has an expected end for us…gathering us into his arms of love and mercy and entering into his presence at the end of this world.

  45. 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

When we wait for our promise we are far more rewarded with the full promise then we would be if we to cut corners and get want, patients is a virtue
