Revelation 4

1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

  1. v11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The redeemed ones worship HIM in SPIRIT and in truth, fulfilling our purpose for existence both now and in heaven .
What a privilege to sit together on heavenly places in CHRIST JESUS on holy ground.
We worship and give HIM praise because
HE IS WORTHY because of WHO HE IS GOD ALMIGHTY.

  2. 8. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,

    11. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

God is Holy and worthy of a ALL our praise!

    Holy, holy, holy,

Holy is the lord, god almighty.
    Worthy to receive glory,
    Worthy to receive honor,
Worthy to receive all our praise to-day.

Praise him, praise him and lift him up,

Praise him, praise him and lift him up,

  3. Revelation 4
The rapture and the 24 elders.

Pretribulationist (those who believe the rapture will occur before the tribulation) point to Revelation 4:1 as John seeing the rapture and that the 24 elders represent the just raptured church. This position is different than classical interpretation and was also introduced less than 300 years ago. Posttribulationist treat the verse as John’s personal experience for the reception of further visions and view the elders as humans, angels, or a combination of both. Is 24:23 refers to the angels as elders, so it may be angels. Classic interpretation see the 24 elders as a parallel of the 12 patriarchs and the 12 apostles. The retort against the classic interpretation is that the redeem do not sit on thrones until after consummation, but the elders are wearing crowns. This is similar to the crowns the victors of the Greek games would win. Thus, they have been judged and rewarded.

Rev 5:8-10 speak of the elders again. The textual issue of is seen in the KJV verses the NIV. The KJV would seem to suggest the redeemed, whereas the NIV is open to the possibility of angels. In either case, it is more likely that they would be redeemed because, as mentioned above, they are wearing crowns. Thus, it would appear that have received their reward.

The differences of opinions on these topics should not mar the beauty of the text.

  4. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

For those who say there will be thrones or three on the throne.

Glory be to God he is but one God.

  5. 1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

The apostle John was in the Spirit, I do not know how many of you have ever been slain in the Spirit of God. I for one have and John explains this as close as you can to the real experience. I felt as though I was above my body and looking down, as I lay on the floor. No pain and I felt nothing in my body, I could not move at all, head, hands, legs, feet anything.
John saw the throne and yes he only saw one on the throne, this throne was reserved for the only body God has. Jesus Christ the only person in the Godhead.

    Eph 4:5-6

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

  6. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

We where made to worship the King. I’m will not let rocks out praise me. God has been too good!

    Luke 19:28-40
28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.”
35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. (From John 12, we discover they came with Palm Branches along with their coats.)
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the
Lord!”“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”
40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

  7. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created

I was made to worship the kings of kings.
Worthy is the lamb worthy is the lamb of God bow before his throne make my presence known holy is the lamb of God (I hope I had this song correct)
We have to be a willing Vess on for God to use us.

  8. MORE WORSHIP

Revelation 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Beasts and Elders WORSHIP the LORD together. It appears the beasts proclaiming as the angels Holy, Holy, Holy LORD GOD almighty which was and is and is to come.

As the prophet Isaiah witnessed in the Spirit as well:

Isaiah 6:1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

Beasts (animals) and Seraphims (serpents) worshiping GOD and crying Holy is yet another confirmation that EVERYTHING that has breath will PRAISE the LORD.

The non human beings humbling themselves to WORSHIP provoked the Elders to MORE WORSHIP.

My our knowledge of JESUS and HIM crucified motivate us to MORE WORSHIP, I pray that I need not to witness animals and serpents cry Holy to provoke me to worship GOD. May HIS Love, Grace and Peace provoke me to MORE WORSHIP.

3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

In your face Trinity, there was only one on the Throne.

  10. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

    Praise The Lord!!!

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord : (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬ KJV)

  11. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. OK HATE TO BREAK IT TO PEOPLE THIS WAY BUT IT SAYS ONE, JUST ONE SAT ON THE THRONE, AND HIS NAME IS JESUS!!!!!!
8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
When the storms of life come this is one of my favorite songs to sing. It is like I remove myself from this ugly world for a brief moment and I grace at His Presence for what seem eternity. Do it and you will see how Great my God is.

  12. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Much like the elders, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. He is worthy of praise erupting from this world like nothing we have ever seen!

  13. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. (‭Revelation‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ KJV)

Holy is the Lord. Mighty is the Lord. There is nothing too hard for God.

  14. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

As I was reading this passage my mind goes to that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. He is. The Lord of the harvest, my provider, my king.

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Every knee shall bow and every tounge shall confess your great name, for there is power when we speak your name! All honor and glory is due to you Lord!

  16. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

  17. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

I pray for the lost because they don’t know the God that created all things!!

  18. Can you imagine how pefect it will be! How paradise will feel. Where there is no more pain no more suffering. No more sin just worshiping JESUS all day long. We would have no physical body so we’ll never get tired. I can only imagine how it will be like.

^“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” (‭Revelation‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ NLT)

  19. Day & Night

8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Day and night, the four beast proclaimed what our lives should as well: Jesus’ holiness, His Lordship, and His infinite nature. We proclaim His holiness in our praise and worship and separation unto Him from this world, His Lordship in our obedience to His Word and likeness of His nature within us, and His infinite nature in speech and witness of the gospel. These qualities should be displayed without ceasing in our lives as a part of who we have become in Christ.

    Revelation 21:5
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

  20. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

How awesome is our God! You are so worthy to be praised!

  21. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

What a sight this will be to behold! Can’t wait for that day when he brings us up into his kingdom

  22. Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God the Almighty the one who always was who is and who is still to come.

It is clear that this chapter is focused on the five hymns of praise that it contains.

  23. He has specialists assigned…..could you be next?

8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

    Praise the Lord……….

  24. Purity and Victory

    Revelation 4:4 (NASB Strong’s)
4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads.

White – g3022. λευκός leukos; from λύκη lukē (“light”); white: — white.
    AV (25) – white 25;
light, bright, brilliant brilliant from whiteness, (dazzling) white of the garments of angels, and of those exalted to the splendour of the heavenly state shining or white garments worn on festive or state occasions of white garments as the sign of innocence and purity of the soul
dead white of the whitening colour of ripening grain

Crown – g4735. στέφανος stephanos; from an apparently primary στέφω stephō (to twine or wreathe); a chaplet (as a badge of royalty, a prize in the public games or a symbol of honor generally; but more conspicuous and elaborate than the simple fillet, 1238), literally or figuratively: — crown.
    AV (18) – crown 18;
a crowna mark of royal or (in general) exalted rank the wreath or garland which was given as a prize to victors in public games
metaph. the eternal blessedness which will be given as a prize to the genuine servants of God and Christ:

Purity and Victory are connected in this passage. Those who received the victor’s crown were overcomers. The received this as a token their race won. Yet to receive this prize they had to first be robed in white garments.

This tells me that it is eternally worth it to do what is right no matter what. Our character speaks into the heavenly portals. We know that we will be judged for every word spoken. What great relief if we know that we did everything we could to be faithful, true, obedient, and honest. Purity isn’t just separation from the world but it is doing the right thing when nobody is watching.

  25. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

God is worthy! It’s sad that so many people do not realize how truly amazing God is. Even as Christians we have only seen glimpses of his greatness. As we draw closer to him he reveals himself more to us. It isn’t until our journey here is over that we will truly and completely understand how worthy he really is. Right now it is beyond our comprehension.

  26. 5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

As we read this I was asked,” Papi, what are the seven Spirits of God?” As we dug We began to find where the Word of God mentions different manifestations of the Spirit of God.

Isaiah 11:1 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
    the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

  27. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

I know God has His timing of things for a reason, but I definite wishing would have known of Him sooner so I could have more time to spend with Him!!! Hahaha!! Thank goodness we have forever as His promise to us!!!

  28. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

There has always been, and will always be, only one throne.

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Dear God, let me never forget that you gave me breath, so that I could praise you; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  29. Rev 4:11
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
    (KJV)

I was created to for His pleasure to PRAISE and WORSHIP His name. Not for anything else or to occupy myself with material things or even world riches, or even to be praised, but my purpose was is to honor Him and live for Jesus.

  30. Verse 11 AMP “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and dominion, for You created all things; by Your will they were [brought into being] and were created.” Same verse NKJV “You are worthy, O Lord,[g]
To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist[h] and were created.” I was created to worship.

Psalm 66:1-4 NLT “Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth! Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is. Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power. Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.”

  31. “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (‭Revelation‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬ ESV)

Our God is Great! He is worthy of all praise.

  32. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

I was created to Praise His Name!

  33. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Revelation is scattered with imagery, and symbolism because it’s the account of a vision. The sardian, or sardine, is admitted to be a stone of fiery red colour; the emerald, to which the bow round the throne is compared, is almost certainly a bright green. The jasper is the last stone in the high-priest’s breastplate, and first of the twelve foundations of the New Jerusalem (Ex 28:20 & Rev 21:19) is described as a dark, opaque green. Such a colour is quite in harmony with the colours of the other stones in the breastplate, and particularly with the foundation stones, which seem to be arranged in shades of colour (Rev 21:19) but the dark opaque green would be an ill combination with the red sardius and the green emerald in this vision. Is there no further light? We have a jasper stone spoken of in Rev 21:11; Rev 21:18, with the descriptive phrase, “clear as crystal!” Does not this point to a stone somewhat different in appearance from that spoken of simply as jasper? Such a clear crystal stone would be the most natural companion to the sardine, and the combination of the sparkling brightness and fiery red suits the union of brightness and flame which appears elsewhere in the Bible (Rev 1:14; Rev 11:1; Ezl 1:4; Ez 8:2; Dan 7:9), and is best understood of the holiness and righteousness of God. The lat half of verse 4 shows us these surrounded by the emerald-coloured bow, the evident symbol of the divine mercy. The allusion to the bow in the cloud (Gen 9:12-16) is obvious; the bow completely encircled the throne, as mercy encompassing judgment. It was a covenant token, bearing witness to God’s faithfulness in dark times, God’s care for the ark of His Church, and His mercy shining forth after storm.

  34. The throne !!!! 1. AFTER this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. Rev. 1 : 10 2. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. 3. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. 4. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting , clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. 5. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spir’-its of God. 6. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Ho’-ly, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. Thank you Jesus !!!! HOLY, HOLY ARE YOU !!!! Lord God Almighty !!!!

  35. Revelations 4: 1-11
John description of heaven reminds us that we serve a God of order and harmony.

Oh God, can wait to be there….

    You are worthy, O Lord,
    To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.

  36. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

Forever worship…! Wow one can only imagine what other great things we shall see and experience being before the the presence of the Almighty God. This chapter just got my mind going thinking how will it be? What will I feel how amazing just to be in front of Jesus. I really can’t even begin to put any of it together. I am reminded of the song “I can only imagine”. My God is amazing and I can’t wait to see Him

  37. 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Let everything that has breath praise you Lord of Lord King of Kings. Your great name is above all names.

  38. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

One of the most important things to come to realize is what we were made for. Weare all his creation, the work of his hands. Made to his likeness. For his loving pleasure, we are to walk before him. That’s why he will say, welcome my good and faithful servant, ENTER. The words every christian awaits, to be welcome into his marvelous light.
    What a blessed hope.
