Acts 10

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. 32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

We don’t need to rely on the Lord to make miracles to get our attention . God should have our full attention at all times. It’s like your dad said come here and you don’t here him and then he comes over to you with a flash light points it in your eyes to get your attention . We shouldn’t be so far off from God that we can’t even hear him calling our name. Instead we should be the ones calling out his name !!!

  2. 6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

This is the only time the occupation of “tanner” is mentioned in the Bible. Here is the significance: A tanner was constantly dealing with dead animals. This occupation was regarded with disgust by the Jews because it necessitated more or less ceremonial contamination, especially in the case of unclean animals.
For Peter to be lodged in such a mans house has such a tremendous meaning. The fact that Peter was willing to stay with a tanner reveals that he, unlike many other Jews, was already altering his views with reference to Old Testament ceremonial laws. This makes him the ideal person through whom to convey the gospel to the Gentiles. Simon’s house also represents change. Other than for tanning, a tanners house was also a place where you got parchment. Parchment is a material made from processed animal skin and used—mainly in the past—for writing on. You can take some thing that so vile, and if you work with it enough to can be changed into something that even the living word of God can be written upon it. The very people that God chose to first bring the gospel to was a Roman, even further than that a centurion. The every people that crucified Jesus Christ.
It’s so amazing how it doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done, if you have a heart that earnestly seeks Him, he is willing to forgive you and save you.
Thank you Jesus for your transforming power.

  3. v45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

GOD has granted us mercy through JESUS CHRIST, who is the mediator and the light to everyone who will hear and obey HIS gospel.
Salvation is for whoso ever will. GOD continues to give power to HIS CHURCH. HE continues to fill repentant people with HIS SPIRIT today!!!
Be filled with HIS SPIRIT today.
    More HOLY GHOST !!!

  4. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

They knew God was no respector of persons, but were still surprised when the Gentiles received the Holy Ghost.

We will never have God figured out – even when we think we know what He is doing, He still has surprises in store…I can’t wait to see what He is up to now!

  5. 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

The Holy Ghost was poured out on the Gentiles as well as Jews, God revealed to the Apostle that held the keys to the kingdom. Anyone who will seek God will have access to this Holy Ghost, what a day in history this is. Not just on the Jews but also on the Gentiles the prophecy of Acts 2:39 is being fulfilled. This promise is to all that the Lord our God shall call. Let’s heed the call of God!!!

  6. MORE CONVERSIONS

The powerful reaffirming, reassuring WORD of GOD. The Acts of the Apostles are consistent in the fact that they continually preach the New Birth Experience.

To imitate the works of the Acts of the Apostles we must remain focused on MORE CONVERSIONS to the Kingdom of GOD.

Repent, be Baptized in the name of JESUS and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  7. Home friendship group!

And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. (‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭27-28, 34, 44, 46-48‬ KJV)

I thank The Lord that salvation has come to all men!!! And that we see here that GOD is no respecter of persons…. And neither shall we be.

Clearly we see that a home friendship groups(fellowship) is important to every person. That through preaching of the gospel whether it be in the church building or in your home people will and can have a Jhon 3:5 Expirience.
To GOD be the glory, growth and multiplication is here for HIS Kingdom. And it begins at POFW.

  8. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

HOPE = Hebrew 11: 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

Sometimes we pray and do good where ever we go, and we ask ourselves is it all worth it??? Well, here is your answer there is no prayer that goes unanswered, a GOOD REPORT WILL BE GIVEN at HIS PERFECT TIME.

I WILL AWAIT MY GOOD REPORT IN JESUS NAME.

  9. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

  10. 15 But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.” (NLT)

Thank you Jesus, we have been redeemed, forgiven, and set free by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. By the end of this chapter everyone is able to receive the Holy Ghost and be baptized; all are welcomed to the salvation of Jesus Christ. Don’t ever say that someone isn’t able to come to Christ, and don’t ever let anyone deceive you by saying that salvation is not for you or that you’re too far off, because that’s what His never ending love and mercy is for.

There is room in the house of God for everybody!

  11. We are all family.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

After this moment we can all now be together. Why do we think we’re better than others? Because we’re not. We are all children of God.

  12. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

God gave specific instructions to Cornelius, because Cornelius was hungry, seeking the Lord. I believe there are devout people in the region of Fort Worth that are seeing God asking which way to go, and when it is time, and POFW has aligned themselves with God, the Lord will give them specific instructions and we will find them here worshipping the Lord, seeking truth.

  13. The 9th Hour

The 9th hour is the same as 3 p.m. (Evening to evening—For example, the 12th hour would be the last hour of the day—about 6 p.m.)

Besides the fact that it had been four days to the hour since the voice came to Cornelius, it was also the same hour that Christ died on the cross. The veil was rent—the Old Covenant had passed away, and now, here, Peter is being reminded of the full liberation of the Sons of God under this New Covenant. I think the fact that 3 p.m. was highlighted twice in the story of Acts 10, that therefore, Peter would have looked for why 3 p.m., and would have easily have had his mind led by the Spirit to the 3 p.m. of the cross.

Moreover, Cornelius was a centurion; recall the other centurion at the foot of the cross—at 3 p.m. (“9th hour”) when Christ died—He said, “Surely this was the Son of God.” This scene was a forerunner of Acts 10 when the Gentiles begin to stream into the Church. Without this historic event we Gentiles would be lost, not adopted as heirs. Everything including time is in God’s hands. The ninth hour is so signifiant in the allignment and fulfillment of the prophetic. The same God of the early church is alive and ticking today. His clock’s never busted. He will prepare a way for His church if we are willing to wait on Him and his timing.

  14. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

We cannot change the law of God, if he tells us something is not forbidden then we shouldn’t act like it is and if he tells us to stay away from something then we should stay away from it, listening to God’s voice and God’s word is important to our walk with God in our lives.

  15. Different

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

So long as we follow to Lord’s command to carry to gospel to every people and nation, the church will encounter a diversity of individuals, cultures, lifestyles, desires, and needs. It is His plan for His Kingdom to include every sort of person on earth but that doesn’t mean the blending of differences will always be easy. It is easier to blend together with those like you than those different but the challenge of blending differences will create strength and provoke growth and maturity in the Body of Christ. In the world, it is common to find a certain stigma attached to being “different” but in the Kingdom, diversity of peoples is a hallmark of how the Lord’s church should be.

    Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

  16. 15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

Nothing made by God is unclean! We may have been unclean with sin but God forgave us and had mercy on us!!! We are now clean and have another chance. Everyone is welcomed in Gods house no matter what they think they have done they are forgiven because God died for us!!Thank you Jesus 🙂

  17. iLove to eat More Word

    The Angel of Harvest

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

This angel of Harvest was sent to Cornelius. Now notice that the angel did not have the power to preach the gospel, but he did have the authority to set up a meeting with the one able to preach the gospel. The angel of harvest is at The Pentecostals of Fort Worth, as the man of God has testified, however we must do our part and that is to spread the Word of God.

  18. 24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

Reaching out to one person may save a whole group.

  19. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

The greatest gift one could ever receive. I’m thankful that like Peter says, God is not respecter of persons. This gift we call all experience it. It is a Christian’s job to tell the people and educate that they too can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It’s not exclusive to a certain people or church. The time is now to tell everyone that there is hope in the midst of storms and chaos. The best thing it’s a gift. It’s free. Thank you Jesus.

For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭39‬ NKJV)

  20. Prostyltes and God fearers

Acts 10:2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was all his household; he did many acts of charity for the people and prayed to God regularly.

It was not uncommon for Gentiles to worship Jehovah. They were called proselytes and God fearers. These were Gentiles who sacrificed to God and acknowledge him as the one true God. Luke records this story as the first outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the Gentiles. Thank God that salvation was given to us as well

  21. Acts 10:34-35 (NASB Strong’s)
    Gentiles Hear Good News
34 Opening his mouth, Peter said:
“I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, 35 but in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to Him.

We should never be quick to judge whether a person will receive the gospel of not. Many people may start off rejecting but through time they open their arms to it.

The greatest thing we can do is not invite them to church. The greatest thing we can do is to genuinely love, have compassion, and care for that person. Love, real love will shine the light of Christ to them and in just a little bit they will be open to receive that invite, and experience the transformation God has in store for them.

  22. “And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Because of the prayers of Cornelius; what could happen if, because of the prayers of (insert name here). Dear God, awaken and stir me to more prayer; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  23. Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10‬:‭34-35‬ NLT)

God has opened up His spirit to everyone. God does favor any particular ethnicity or race over another. We should follow this teaching as we outreach to others. We can’t favor certain people . in fact, we need to love everyone- that’s a commandment!
    Let’s reach this world!

  24. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

What a testimony to have our prayers come up before God as memorial… If only we would get in one accord and watch what God is doing all around this reigion.

  25. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
We must be baptized in the name of Jesus. We need to repent and speak in tongues daily.

  26. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. (‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭44-48‬ KJV)

  27. Verses 1-3 MSG say that Cornelius “….. had led everyone in his house to live worshipfully before God, was always helping people in need, and had the habit of prayer.” This lead to the angel of God in verses 4-6 MSG tell him “….Your prayers and neighborly acts have brought you to God’s attention…..”. One needs to develop this type of habit that brings you to God’s attention. The Lord is looking for willing vessels, that without hesitation will do as Cornelius as he says in verse 33 MSG “….So I did it…”! Peter did the same thing as revealed in verses 27-29 MSG “Peter addressed them, “You know, I’m sure that this is highly irregular. Jews just don’t do this—visit and relax with people of another race. But God has just shown me that no race is better than any other. So the minute I was sent for, I came, no questions asked. But now I’d like to know why you sent for me.” Both these men realized that there was no time to lose and no time to waste; for IT is for everybody!

  28. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. (‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭45‬ KJV)

Thank you Jesus for your salvation to us Gentiles!

  29. 2 He was a devout, God-fearing man, as was everyone in his household…

When I think about the future; my future children and family, My household I can’t help in hear in my ears “Crockett’s don’t act that way” from Sis. Crockett’s iPray Weekend Sermon. In the household there has to be unity to strive and conquer, there must be prayer. There has to be a expectation set, a goal in mind, a way of life. To counterbalance the ways of this world, our household has to know the truth…
    We Believe in One God
    We Believe in The Truth
We Believe in Jesus Name Baptism
We Believe in Speaking in Tongues
They have to know we are made to stand out in this world to be a chosen generation.

    1 Peter 2:9
    But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

Just as Joshua proclaimed, As for Me and My house We Will Serve The Lord!

    Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD

  30. Cornelius !!!! 1. THERE was a certain man in Caes-a-re’-a called Cor-ne’-li-us, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2. A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. Acts 8 : 2 3. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cor-ne’-li-us. 4. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. JESUS IS MY PROTECTOR and DEFENDER !!!!
