Acts 3

1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

17 And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.

18 But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

  1. 6. Peter: I want to give you something, but I don’t have any silver or gold. Here’s what I can offer you: stand up and walk in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, the Anointed One.

    16. So that’s how this miracle happened: we have faith in the name of Jesus, and He is the power that made this man strong-this man who is known to all of you. It is faith in Jesus that has given this man his complete health here today, in front of all of you. Voice

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have lots of money in the bank when it comes to receiving what you need from God; silver and gold won’t help you get it anyway, but because of His stripes and the blood He spilled on Calvary, faith in the Name of Jesus is the currency that can purchase your healing.

  2. The end of verses 1-5 MSG says “…..Peter, with John at his side, looked him straight in the eye and said, “Look here.” He looked up, expecting to get something from them.” Lord I pray that you help me not simply pass by anyone who may be lame (spiritually). Open up my eyes to see the potential/need as Peter and John saw in this man. Sometimes we are so involved in the “my issues” that we don’t see the opportunity that the Lord is placing right in our path. Lord thank you for placing me in a church where the gates are always open to receive MORE.

  3. 14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Peter took this miracle to tell these people about Jesus Christ.
The main purpose of Jesus coming to this world was to seek and save them that are lost. Peter in his boldness told the Jews you killed Jesus, the Prince of life. We need to be sure and give God all the credit for every miracle because without God in our lives we cannot do anything. We are not miracle workers, but serve a God that can do anything. Too GOD BE THE GLORY.

  4. MORE EXPECTATION

5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

How we GO to church is important. I am not referring to the mode of transportation used to arrive there, but the mindset that is present when we get there. We go to gas stations expecting to get gas, we go to grocery stores expecting to get groceries, we go to six flags expecting to be entertained, we go to the Dr. expecting to get questioned and prodded in painful areas.

What do we expect when we go to CHURCH?

Every time we approach the Church property we should experience MORE EXPECTATION for what GOD has prepared for the people that LOVE HIM.

If the “Burdened Beggar” came to church, albeit by force, he came expecting to receive something.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iExpect
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  5. 4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

This man looked up EXPECTING! which is the way we should come into the house of the Lord today! Expecting great things the happen, expecting the lost to be saved, expecting to be healed, expecting to be blessed, expecting!

  6. expectation, never leave home without it, God promised us signs and miracles and we should stay ready to receive them, Great is our God!

  7. Acts 3:1
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer being the ninth hour.

We must pray every hour of every day for Jesus More Prayer is what we need to get blessed Amen

  8. 25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

There was not one more important than the other?? When He went to that cross He did it for your sins, my sins, and every one else sins. When I dream of that moment I see Christ in front of me and says what are you waiting for I pushed that button for all equally, no matter how big or how small the sin it is still the rules and we follow them and if you break the rule that is a sin.
James: 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

  9. Where are the givers at?

    2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

The man didn’t go lay in governors door. He didn’t go lay at the doctors door. He went to where he knew the givers would be. Church should be the home of givers. This man knew if he could just get to the house of the Lord he would get what he needed. He had a carnal expectation that proved to be a life changing experience for him spiritually. If we can just come to the house of the Lord expecting something would happen then we never know what could happen. This man came expecting alms and he left healed. In coming tonight expecting something to happen. God will provide the miracle.

  10. As Peter and John approach the temple to pray a beggar cries out for alms. Instead Peter stops and in Jesus name heals him completely. The miracle drawa a croud and Peter preaches.

  11. 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

    The change that takes place.

When we was the last time you knew without a shadow of doubt that God did something. Anything. When we are changed for the better, it’s because of God within us. Thank God for his changing power. I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for him.

  12. Rise up and walk !!!! 6. Then Pe’-ter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Je’-sus Christ of Naz’- a-reth rise up and walk. 7. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Thank you Jesus for healing !!!! Thank you Jesus for strength !!!! Thank you Jesus for faith !!!!

  13. 5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

The man expected to receive something, even though he expected to receive something he wanted, he was given something he needed.

    expect the unexpected.

  14. 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

When we speak the word of God into the lives of other people, sometimes we should not only speak into their lives but put our actions into words. For love is not a spoken thing, but it is verb, it is something that we do. So when you see a brother down, not only encourage him but give him a hand and help back up to his feet. Sometimes a pull or push is all someone needs to move from a place of need into the place of miracles where they can receive their deliverance.

  15. Acts 3:16 (NETFull)
16 And on the basis of faith in Jesusʼ name, his very name has made this man – whom you see and know – strong. The faith that is through Jesus has given him this complete health in the presence of you all.

    Acts 3:16 (AMP)
16 And His name, through and by faith in His name, has made this man whom you see and recognize well and strong. [Yes] the faith which is through and by Him [Jesus] has given the man this perfect soundness [of body] before all of you.

Faith through Jesus and by him. This faith that is in his name is what raised him up. Peter basically commanded a miracle when he said rise up and walk. It was because of the name of Jesus and the faith of Peter that the man walked.

It wasn’t the man’s faith. It was Peter and John’s faith.

Sometimes we just need to take a step of faith and speak it and see what God will do.

  16. iLove to eat More Word

Acts 3:12 KJV And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

Its not by our own righteousness or our power that miracles are performed, it is by the Spirit of God. Our imperfections as well, does not keep the King of Kings away as well. We dont have to be perfect for God to use us.

  17. The difference the Holy Spirit Makes

    Acts 3:12 (NET)

3:12 When Peter saw this, he declared to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this? Why do you stare at us as if we had made this man walk by our own power or piety?

Peter was the craven who said he would follow Jesus to death and then denied him 3 times. Now, he has already addressed the crowd at Pentecost and again here. The boldness of the Holy Spirit is upon him. He would eventually live up to his word in following Christ to death. Peter allegedly died by crucification and requested to be crucified upside down. He stated he was not worthy to die the same death as Christ. The change in him is the work of the Holy Spirit. To God be all glory. Amen

  18. 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

  19. 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Peter and John did not have much but what they did have was something more powerful than money could ever be. They had the power of the holy ghost. Sometimes the world is looking for a handout or something from someone to give them but really all they need is Jesus. Lets give them Jesus!!

  20. “And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.” The man of God (Jesus) told them what would happen to those that would not hear. The word of God is forever settled, and God does not change. Therefore refusal to hear (word of God), has a price. Dear God, help me to hear and do, what sayeth your word; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  21. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ NLT)

This man did more than just stand… After being stuck in one position the man did more than just the obvious, he did the extraordinary. When God blesses us we should do the same. Let’s do more than the obvious response of being moved by God, let’s be extraordinary in our praise and worship

  22. This chapter can be broke into 2 parts: a Miracle and a Sermon

The miracle was to confirm the doctrine preached and to open the hearts of the people, and the sermon was to explain the miracle and place the word in the open hearts.

Just as Pastor has taught although song service can be kicking and incredible, the Word still must go forth.

  23. And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. (‭Acts‬ ‭3‬:‭12-13‬ KJV)

This kind of miracle should happen all the time if people believe in the power of e name of Jesus. Lord help our unbelief that we might have greater faith and see more miracles by the power of your name.

  24. 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Sometimes we may think how it must take such a great of a miracle for someone to be so demonstrative in their praise to God. The truth is that salvation is way better to be thankful for. The fact that Jesus paid the price and washed away our sins, is something to shout and leap about. When one was destined for eternal damnation but the Lord! And His Blood!! Think about it? Salvation is forever… That is something for what to be thankful for and come in leaping and praising God in His temple.

  25. 15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Because they told of what they witnessed, This lame man had a glimmer of hope, as he asked for alms. Everyone is given a measure of faith, and his must have been very low, before hearing these Apostles tell of the life of Jesus, and all that he had taught them.

  26. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact! (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ NLT

For they have killed the Prince of life, for that the Prince of life could not remain in the grave, and for the apostles were united they were witnesses of the fact of Jesus resurrection. In Jesus Name Amen!!
