Acts 6

1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

12 And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

  1. In reading this chapter, we see how Stephen could have tried to defend himself with his own words or explanations; but the Lord was with him as the end of verse 10 MSG says “….But they were no match for his wisdom and spirit when he spoke” and verse 15 MSG also says “As all those who sat on the High Council looked at Stephen, they found they couldn’t take their eyes off him—his face was like the face of an angel!”. Sometimes we just need to keep quiet and let the Lord move.

  2. 3. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

    8. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

Stephen was full of the Holy Ghost, wisdom, faith and power – all available to us still today. If we would but take advantage of them, we could see the wonders and miracles like he did.

  3. Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, (‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭11-12‬ KJV)

Becarefuk what you say. You may speak a lie and every body will believe you

  4. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

When we give ourselves to God he will always move in our churches!

  5. Open your mouth and testify!

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. (‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬ KJV)

Everyone has something to say at all times. But what exactly are you speaking. Will you speak ofthe current events in social media, the news, or proclaim the word of GOD which is the only thing that is truth, and what America our nation needs today in a world that is dying spiritually.

Let the word of GOD INCREASE in our city that multitude of people will run to the altars and seek JESUS CHRIST! So speak today into the lives of people, that The Lord may be exalted and glorified in their lives.

  6. 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Growth will bring new opportunities and new challenges. Yet it is up to us to sit and murmur or just as the disciples chose to do; create a plan.

2 – 3 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

  7. 10 None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke. (NLT)

When we speak truth, when we speak God’s Word, there is nothing that can come against us. People may try and manipulate you and deceive others to get more people on their side but in the end nothing can come against us if we put our whole faith and trust in God.

  8. iLove to eat More Word

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Today’s blog is a short blog, but for me as I read it a very impacting blog.

When the word of God increases, when we eat more word, consume more word, read more word, digest more word, speak more word, teach more word, then the following things happen:

Disciples multiply, folks become more obedient, and great signs and wonders and miracles begin to happen.

If we really want to become powerful children of God, we have to eat more word.

  9. A BIRTH OF A MINISTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All ministry are born out of a need to help and serve others less fortunately. Here we see how the Ministry is born for the need of the saints that they serve in this case the widows. All churches should look around for a need. Domestic Violence, Child abuse, Single mothers, etc. Ministry that they as members can open up one to another and look for the HOPE that will always be in HIM JESUS CHRIST. AS OUR PASTOR HAS ALWAYS SAID “THE BIGGEST ROOM IS THE ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT” OUR GOD IS SO GOOD TO US

  10. 10 But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke.

When God moves through you NOTHING can come against you!!! Let God move through you and take care of the evil that may come your way.

15 All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.

God can do anything by opening there eyes to see the truth with in Stephen and us! 🙂

  11. MORE WORD – THE KEY TO APOSTOLIC REVIVAL

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

As the WORD increased or became MORE popular, MORE spoken, MORE studied, MORE respected, MORE practiced, MORE obeyed, MORE demonstrated people took notice. The results are astounding.

    The Church multiplied in GROWTH
The Ministry was focused on FAITH
    The Disciples did MIRACLES

This is my DREAM and VISION for The POFW and Fort Worth, TX

Lets Get IN the WORD and allow the WORD to Get IN us.

    iRepent
    iPraise
    iPray
    iStudy
    iWork
    iGive
    iReap

  12. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

    Resistance is futile.

Who in their right mind would resist the word of God. The word is sharp and it will cut those who resist it. But if we will allow the word to cut us freely. It will cut those things out that we don’t need in our lives. And it will heal the wounded soul.

  13. 2So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program.

We too have this responsibility of teaching the Word. We too have to make time to teach home bible studies. We all can make excuses, but we have to realize so many want to learn more about the bible.

  14. 10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

As long as we have God on our side nothing can stand against!! If we speak of his kingdom and his great works, God will be able to use us to draw people into his house!!

  15. Acts 6:1-5
1, AND in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring among the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2, Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.
3, Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom ye may appoint over this business.
4, But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5, And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch.

These passages of scripture made me think of the Leadership Class Bishop Foster taught us back in May of 2014.
He said, “Why don’t churches grow? Because most Pastors don’t know how to build a System. (Build Leaders). God is a God of procedures, parts, and Systems. This System must be done in order to run right. If you do the System right, the Results will take care of themselves. So, you must think of your biggest problem, work out a System for it, and then execute the System.
Bishop Foster also taught us in Dec.2014 that we need to help new converts find their gift in the church, and then teach them to use it in their full potential. (The System).

This is what happened here in Acts 6. They had a big problem, worked out a System for it, and then executed the System (Built Leaders). And because they did the System right, it brought about great results. Vs.7 says, “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.”

  16. 15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Stephen’s face shone like that of an angel. All the while the religious leaders are accusing him of blasphemy of God and the law of Moses’ time. It is only fitting that Stephen’s face would shine like Moses’ did after being in God’s presence for the ten commandments. 2Co 3: 7″ The old way, with laws etched in stone, led to death, though it began with such glory that the people of Israel could not bear to look at Moses’ face. For his face shone with the glory of God, even though the brightness was already fading away.” These verses just say it all:

2Co 3:”12 Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. 13We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. 14But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.16But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”
    Let your light shine!

  17. And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. (‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ KJV)

Stephen was not mentioned to be an apostle but rather is mentioned as a fellow believer, and called to serve tables; in other words called to minister. We see here how it mentioned that he was used of God with great miracles and wonders, but he positioned himself. He submitted to his leadership in his calling to serve, and was full of the Holy Spirit and faith. A thing to note is that he was called or chosen, but he was already full of the Holy Spirit. If we can’t to be called we must do our part and be prepared. And then serve the “tables” whatever they may be, cleaning, making phone calls, visitations, teaching a bible study, mowing the lawn… Yes even at small beginnings you can be used because we have a great God. It is our choices that get us chosen.

  18. Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them. And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith. (‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭1-7‬ ESV)

The word increased and disciples multiplied. I love the word of God. I’m thankful to live in a country where I can freely read my word share the word not be punished for it.

  19. It was a one two punch, they couldn’t resist…………

10 And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
    _________________________________________________
So, there was no doubt of whom’s kingdom nor whom’s work he was conducting for. But, yet still they persisted in a very evil act against God’s anointed…………………

15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

    “Be Blessed”………………………………………..

  20. v8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

We can dream … And POFW , full of faith, and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
LORD , help us to be ready the harvest will be great…. Thank you JESUS!!!

  21. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

The apostles emphasized the necessity of prayer and the ministering of the word. It seems many have abandoned prayer. May we have a revelation of its value in our minds once again.

  22. 8 And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

You cannot argue with the miracles. These guys just like many people that we know are drinking the haterade that Brother Godwin is always preaching about. As soon as you do something great in the Lord there alway arises those that have been sitting like a bump on a log for years not doing anything to say your not in the will of God. Miracles are in the will of God every time. People get jealous when God uses you more than them. People get jealous when the newcomer is anointed and they have only seen things happen but it hasn’t happened to them.

  23. Wisdom !!!! 8. And Ste’-phen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. 10. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Luke 21 : 15 I Am Victorious through Christ Jesus who strengthens me !!!!

  24. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

when we all do our part for the work of the Lord more will be added unto the truth.

  25. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Many want to be able to do great signs and wonders. They aspire to be used in the miraculous and see great things happen. They want the lime light so to speak and to preach the 3000 soul revival.

What does it take to get to this place? It takes servanthood. Loving people speaks volumes in the kingdom of God and is the prerequisite for promotion. When we love people, and truly care for their interests genuinely with a heart of compassion we position ourselves to be used mightily by God.

  26. 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

When everyone was included. When everyone was taken care of. Then the word of God increased and revival happened. No one should get neglected in the body of Christ. In Gods eyes no one is less desirable of a person in the church. We all are made new in him. The widows and orphans, the elderly and bus kids. Not one should be neglected. Through wisdom and delegation of authority the church continued the way it was and everyone became included in the daily ministrations. The church not only continued, it thrived. It grew.

  27. “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.” This transpired after, they had chosen, prayed, and appointed seven that were full of the Holy Ghost and willing to serve. If this was the result with seven, imagine what could be the result with more. Dear God, help me so that I may do more, so that more may receive you; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  28. 7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Even the first church was busy doing Gods work. There is a saying that goes,”feed a man and you feed him for a day, teach a man to sow and reap and feed him for a life time.” So many were converting that even the religious were seeing the truth of the Work of God they too was transforming the lives of everyone that heard it.

  29. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. (‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭3-4‬ KJV)

People who serve in the kingdom are not just anyone who walks in off the street, it is people who are committed. We need to examine ourselves and see how well we fit this mold. We need to pray that we would be as committed as we should be.

  30. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

They saw a need, they needed someone to serve and organize the people so that they could give themselves to prayer and the word. So men was appointed for ministry opportunities to further the Kingdom of God.

Administration, order, delegation all go hand in hand to make any ministry successful.

  31. Acts 6:1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being over looked in the daily distribution of food.

  32. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

I pray for this continually because nothing is more important than prayer and serving for the kingdom of God. Doing everything with love because everything we do is for The Lord.
Ministry-service, ministering, esp. of those who execute the commands of others
We are here to serve others and not myself. To be sensitive to the Spirit and obey Gods Word. In you I trust Jesus!!!

  33. 1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

    Growth

It is important that as a individuals we are continually growing in God but it is equally important that we are growing as a church. We need to be able to set spiritual goals and accomplish them and desire to always be teachable and flexible enough with God that as he develops us we are humble and ready to do what He is asking.

  34. Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭6‬:‭8‬ NLT)

Stephen was very strong in faith with the lord which he was enable to do miraculous things, for the things that Stephen did were full of faith and full of power because of Stephen by the faith and power of god engaged in him !!! In Jesus Name Amen!!!

  35. MORE
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

MORE of the word of God was preached because they appointed a team of men to help them minister. This freed up the apostles time for prayer and study, and the results were more disciples were added to the church and more priests were obedient to the word! Team building is what Pastor keeps encouraging each ministry to do, so we can have MORE disciples!

  36. 15 And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

When we walk in God’s word, following his commandments and seeking after God in prayer and through the reading of his word, we will radiate God’s light through us and other people will be able to see the glory of God through our actions. So keeping walking in his word, not just for yourself but for the other people around because there is always someone watching what you are doing, and whether good or bad, you are a spiritual example/
