Acts 10

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee.

23 Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

33 Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

  1. v44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

GOD sends HIS SPIRIT because HIS WORD IS THERE.
“John bare record, saying I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him”
Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost”
So HIS SPIRIT falls only upon HIS WORD
JOHN 1: 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, ( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

So preach the WORD receive HIS WORD and receive HIS SPIRIT.
    MORE HUNGER
    MORE WORD
    MORE OF HIS SPIRIT

  2. 45. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

God is still surprising people today. Sometimes we think we have everything figured out, then He ‘throws a curve ball’ and we’re left trying to figure out what He has in store for us next.

  3. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

Yes, Jesus is Lord of all, Jews and Gentiles alike! Every nation that fears God can receive the Holy Ghost, because Jesus is Lord of all. Jesus being our Lord we should recognize him and give him our lives and worship him!

The greatest part of this chapter to me is in a simple Bible lesson, while Cornelius was praying and God was dealing with him. God told Cornelius to send to Joppa and ask for one called Peter. Peter was praying and God was showing him a vision of a sheet falling from heaven will all manner of four footed beast. God in his great power was telling Cornelius the way to find truth and dealing with Peter the way to tell him truth! What a mighty God we serve!

  4. MORE JESUS

We learn from the Acts of the Apostles that they were consistent in speaking the WORD of GOD. Occasionally it was met with persecution, but most often Blessed by GOD and Lives were Impacted through the WORD of GOD.

While Peter was speaking the WORD of GOD to a group of people that were interested in what he was saying, this unique bond of UNITY between speaker and hearer produced a platform to manifest the supernatural POWER of GOD by the gift of the Holy Ghost being evident.

I believe the MORE JESUS we present to our world, the MORE supernatural manifestations of JESUS we will witness.

Humans have 2 destinations and 2 path. The first is quick, easy, and will take you to whom ever, and where ever you please. the 2nd destination, will take you to His will in your life, it is not easy, it is a hard claimed, with obstacles on the way; but this is when God will take noticed of your prayers and it is when He will give you His strength, His Joy, and His Peace that surpasses ALL UNDERSTANDING. It is then that you know is doing but guess what that is the house of GOD, A PLACE OF WORSHIP AND WE WILL STOMP, STOMP, STOMP on the devil. JEHOVAH JIREH MY PROVIDER, JEHOVAH NISSI THE LORD IS MY BANNER, JEHOVAH MAKEH THE LORD SMITES AND PUNISHES ENEMIES, NAME IT HE HAS IT ALL UNDER HIS CONTROL!!! http://www.dianedew.com/name-god.htm

I FEAR NOT FOR HE IS WITH ME.

  6. 34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Praise God! If it wasn’t for His unending love and mercy, who knows where we’d be.

  7. 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

After Cornelius was visited by the Angel and given instructions to send for Peter, he continues to fast until the very hour Pater arrives! How many of us would have ended our fast when the Lord sent an angel with a message? No doubt Cornelius was a great spiritual leader of his whole household and worthy among the Gentiles to be chosen as the first among thousands to be born again. He was also known among the Jews as a devout man and it’s also interesting to note that the soldier he sent with his servants was also a devout man. There are many more devout people in he world today that love God, pray & fast and give offerings that just need the Lord to send them a Peter! Help us Lord to be the ones with the boldness to teach/preach this apostolic message and receive the harvest you intend for this region of Ft. Worth.

  8. 9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

At noon Peter prayed. I see this as a Norma thing for Peter. This was the sixth hour, his prayer hour. I am sure he expected it to go just like every other time, but this time God had something else planned. Soon the spirit would lead him to the house that would open the door for gentile salvation.
    How?
Peter prayed. This was his hour. This was probably a normal time to pray. When we walk with God and have a relationship with him he will lead us by his spirit. If we will listen he will tell us where to go, and who to talk to. However we must have a life of prayer to be used in this way. It was because Peter prayed that he was able to be used in such an amazing way that forever changed the course for an entire group of people.

    Three Testimonies
19Meanwhile, as Peter was puzzling over the vision, the Holy Spirit said to him, “Three men have come looking for you. 20Get up, go downstairs, and go with them without hesitation. Don’t worry, for I have sent them.”
21So Peter went down and said, “I’m the man you are looking for. Why have you come?”
22They said, “We were sent by Cornelius, a Roman officer.

It took 3 witnesses for the Lord to convince Peter to bring the gospel to the Gentiles…

The vision dealt with the soul. The soul is the mind, will, and the emotions. The vision was played out in Peter’s mind when he went into the trance.

The Spirit talked to him. The Holy Spirit dealt with the spirit of Peter

The men that came to talk to Peter. This dealt with the flesh of Peter.

WOW, I never saw this before but it is very interesting.

  10. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

There are people in this world who live right, pay their tithes and keep God number one but fall short in two things, baptized in Jesus name and receiving the Holy Ghost.

  11. 17Peter was very perplexed. What could the vision mean? Just then the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house. Standing outside the gate.

We to have visions and dreams that we don’t understand. But with time God will reveal the interpretation of your dream. We may get impatient, but God tells us to be patient and in his time, things will be done.

  12. 15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

The Jew and the gentile are the same. We all have the same opportunity to serve the same God. We all can be clean through his blood.

  13. 5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: 6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

He was told to send for and hear (listen), which then we read they obeyed the man of God (Jesus).

24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

One that genuinely wants like Cornelius did, will heed the God (Jesus) called, man of God (Holy Ghost filled, blood bought, and whole word teaching/preaching). Dear God, let me truly hear, for I want more of you; “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”. In God we trust! What a mighty God we serve! Thank God for his word. God bless America, Jerusalem, and you all in Jesus name, Amen!

  14. 27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
As I was driving home tonight from church, my favorite talk show came on over the radio on 89.7 (its a christian rock station). On Sunday nights, the radio station will take 30 minutes to discuss/debate/muse over topics either in the Spiritual world or in the world. Tonight of course was about the Supreme court decision. The talk show is an open line and a man called on there ranting about how the hosts were being too tolerate of the LGBT community and not telling them the truth that they will go to hell if they do not change their ways. The hosts were actually against the community, several times during the show stated that they stand on what the Word of God says, but that we, as a church, need to love these people, not hate on them. The man calling in was blinded in his rage and wanted to argue instead of discussing everything.
Now, I completely agree that if they do not change their ways, they will go to hell. However, what Jesus did for us, by taking our sins and dying for us, covered the LGBT community as well. Their salvation is dependent upon whether or not choose to walk away from the darkness and into the light. I am NOT saying that God has called the LGBT clean by no means, but I am stating that we are called to love them so that they WILL see Jesus through us. We should not shun them as people, because Jesus created them just as He created us, but we should shun the sin. The Word states that He accepts/loves those who fear Him and does what is right. How can these people ever learn what is right according to our biblical standards if we chose to take the stance of hating them instead of just the sin? I am so very thankful that POFW already has this mentality of loving everyone just as God has commanded. I know that we would love them should they ever come our way. Jesus, I pray that when we interact with anyone outside of the church, they will see you before they ever see us. Help us to impact the world around us!

  15. 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

The Holy Ghost is not conformed to our agenda. He moves when hr moves and there’s nothing to stop him. Jesus is willing to bless at all times he just needs a right heart to minister to

  16. But Peter pulled him up and said, “Stand up! I’m a human being just like you!” (‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭10‬:‭26‬ NLT)

It’s not our place to worship the man of God. We are to worship THE GOD and respect the man of God.

  17. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

More prayer equals more results! Cornelius needed an answer from God and God answered him. And when he did, he mentions “prayers” and “alms” as in plural, being come up as memorial. So I wonder how big is your memorial before God? Is yours a small little mound? Or it is an altar of prayer onto God?

The more prayer we have in our lives, the stronger the relationship we grow with God and the bigger the altar we grow in God’s sight. He wants a relationship with us, we’re all busy in our crazy lives, the more attention we give however, the more we grow in him and the more God will speak to us when we cry out to him.

More prayer is more prayer. Little prayer is little power, and no prayer is no power!

Daniel 9:3 I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth, and ashes.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of righteous man availeth much.

Romans 12:10-12 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love, in honor preferring one another.

Not slothful in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord

Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing instant in prayer.

  18. In whose name? Jesus………..

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

He still is pouring out on us today!

    “Be Filled”……..”Overflow”……………..

  19. 2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

Our city is filled with devout christians who live the way they have been taught, believing they are on the right path. I believe there are many that have sincere hearts, and daily it is my prayer to ask God to lead us to “hungry” people that are praying for God to send someone to expound the TRUTH more clearly so they can progress.

Had Peter not been obedient to the Lord when God spoke to him about Cornelius, he would have never went. If Cornelius had not been obedient to the voice of the Lord about sending for Peter, he would have never received salvation.

We are His hands and His feet. Will we be obedient and obey when God says go or speak? Will we listen for Him to speak? Cornelius and all his house received salvation today because this act of obedience. Lord, what house would you send me to today?

  20. While Peter yet spake thesewords, the Holy Ghost fell on allthem which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can † any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Hungry for God. When the people are hungry they attentively hear every word preached. They learn and are moved by the the word. We see this example and in the middle of Peter’s preaching the Holy Ghost fell on them and they asked him to stay longer. Perhaps they didn’t verbalized it but I imagine for a bit that their spirit man was crying out to God. The mere action if them showing up waiting for Peter to bring the word showed the attitude and perhaps their expectancy. The room was ready waiting for the man of God to bring the word of God. We should pray again and again for hungry hearts in the region of Fort Worth. Hungry for God and righteousness. Can’t help to think on these verses:

Matthew 5:6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
    Luke 11:9-13 NIV

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[a] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

  21. Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. (‭Acts‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬ KJV)
Doubting nothing. It sounds easy, but I fact it is very hard. We are taught by society to second guess everything. It is taught to us at a very early age. When we come to God we are to have faith. It’s hard to just believe. Lord help my unbelief.

  22. 10:2

God- fearers were non- Jews who believed in one God, attended the synagogue and respected the moral and ethical teachings of the Jews but who did not fully embrace all of the Jewish customs, such as the rite of circumcision

  23. Peter !!!! 13. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Pe’-ter; kill, and eat. 14. But Pe’-ter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean. 15. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Matt. 15 : 11; Rom. 14 : 14 We need to be obedient to God. We need to know God’s voice !!!!

  24. Barnabas !!!! 22. Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Je-ru’-sa-lem: and they sent forth Bar’-na-bas, that he should go as far as An’-ti-och. Acts 9 : 27 23. Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. Acts 13 : 43 24. For he was a good man, and full of the Ho’-ly Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. Acts 5 : 14 Jesus wants us to have faith, and the Holy Ghost !!!! And he wants us to be baptized in his name which is JESUS !!!!
